Can myRIO generate PS_ON signal to turn on a PC?

I am working on an autonomous robot running on myRIO and a mini PC. The robot has a power ON toggle switch. However, the motherboard requires a momentary switch PS_ON signal. I wonder if myRIO can generate this signal via its MXP pins. If it's possible, I'm planning to load this VI as a start-up program to power on the whole system.
I'd appreciate any input or previous experience.

Hi kvanpv
I think there should be no problem for you to set the myRIO to generate the PS ON Signal, as long as you check that the electrical requirements of the motherboard are covered by the MXP pins of the myRIO. Does the signal have any particular timing requirements?

  • MyRIO input analog signal measurement

    Hi everyone,
I want to know that how to measurement the input analog signal from a signal generator to the input pin of myRIO. Is it like using myDAQ to measurement? or need to use other Labview function panel? For example, how to trigger the input signal on Labview?
If someone know this, please give me an answer.
    Cheers,
    Johnson

    Hi Johnson,
The minimum software required to program the NI myRIO processor with LabVIEW is the following:
    LabVIEW
    LabVIEW Real-Time Module
    LabVIEW myRIO Toolkit
All of this software is included in an Academic Site License. Additionally, the full myRIO Software Bundle can be downloaded from ni.com and activated with a valid serial number.
You can write programs quickly using I/O-specific Express VIs directly from the LabVIEW palette, which includes an "Analog In" function which you can use for your signal generator input:

  • Powerbook G4 Can't "See" Wireless Signal from Ubee Modem/Router

I was given a G4 Powerbook while out of town and it found the wireless signal in an apartment complex and a major airport just fine. But upon returning home it can't "see" the signal from my (Time Warner, Road Runner Extreme) Ubee modem/router. My Mac Mini's Airport sees the Ubee wireless signal fine, but the older Powerbook G4 can't. (The Airport signal in the menu bar has "bars" but they are grayed out.
Can an older G4 connect with the newer Ubee modem/router? Are there security settings that will allow this?
    Tx,
    WK

CRMDVM -- Thanks for the helpful info -- you are probably right on both counts:
The apartments where I picked up a signal is in an "old folks" apt. complex, meaning the router I was picking up was probably old -- compatible with the G4 lineage. And the Atlanta airport probably has a wireless system to allow the vast number of old and new computers that people carry to connect.
My Mac Mini connects via WPA2 Personal security code, and I set the G4 to the same security (in the Network preference pane) but still nothing. The Airport wireless icon in the menu bar is still grayed out -- it isn't the "blank" icon as when Airport is turned off. It has the wireless wave lines in the icon, but just grayed out.
Maybe the G4 is just too old to "see" the newer wireless signal from the new modem/router.
Thanks again for your help -- you definitely provided more than I knew. (btw, I'm just above you in Union County in Stallings).

  • How to generate a signal like this on PCI-6202 DAQ card

I want to generate a signal like the one in the attached picture.
    Which have inputs like
    1. Frequency
    2.Duty cycle
    3. No of pulses
I have created a file which gives the signal like the other one in the end which has frequency of 200us and duty cycle of 0.5% that is 1us On and 199us signal off. Now i need to include some sort of condition that when the button is pressed then the signal of the require frequency, duty cycle and no of pulses is created as input by the user on the front panel, like the one which are first part of the signals in the picture below.

  • Can I generate sine and square waves with NI PCI-MIO-16XE-50 card??

Can I generate sine and square waves with NI PCI-MIO-16XE-50 card??
How Do I generate those signals?

    Hello;
You certainly can do that. The way to go about that is to use one of the Analog Output channels your board have available.
If you are using Labview to program the board, you can find good examples at Search Examples->I/O Interfaces->Data Acquisition->Analog Output->Multiple Point (buffered) Analog Output.
If you are using other Software language to program the board, you can fing examples at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\example\VisualC\AO.
    Hope this helps.

  • I am using an NI PCI 6024 E board device for an analog output application. Can I generate two independent waveforms, one on each analog output channel?

I am using an NI PCI 6024 E board device for an analog output application. Can I generate two independent waveforms, one on each analog output channel? In attach I send a example of my vi to control one chanel, but i need to control both but with diferent waveforms.
Is the vi correctly programed to this propose?

Yes you should be able to do that. look at the signal generation examples shipped with LabView
You can create a 2 D array, with each row representing a wave form per channel. The number of points of the wave form (per row of the 2 D array) represent the number of points in the output buffer
The wave forms can have different amplitudes/shapes, and therefore they are independent in this sense.
However, you need to set the update rate, which is the same for both channels. The update rate together with number of points per buffer determines the frequency of the wave forms. This means the two wave forms will have the same frequency.
To have different frequencies, you need to have say, on wave form with one cycle per buffer, and the other waveform have 2 cycles
per buffer. in a case like that the frequency of the second channels is twice that of the first channel, and so on
The two wave forms are then not truly independent, they may have different amplitudtes/shapes, but related in frequency.

  • How to generate two signals using NI myDAQ

    Dear Sir:
I designed a circuit to generate a sine wave successfully using Labview. What I want is using NI myDAQ to generate another 3V DC signal as a power supply. I can do this seperately but when I add them together there is an error:  NI Platform Services:  The specified resource is reserved. The operation could not be completed as specified.
I would like to use A01 to generate a sine wave and A02 to generate a DC wave, could you please check my file and tell me how to solve this problem. I found a solution which generates two signals together but what I need is to control these two signals seperately and using two channels.

  • How to generate GPS signal continuous

    Hi,
I encountered a problem recently and I need your help. A customer used a PXI-5671 to generate GPS signals to test a receiver. The problem was like this:
    1) When we used actual GPS signals instead of simulated signals generated from the PXI-5671, the receiver functioned normally.
    2) When we streamed bin file to generate signals repeatedly using the PXI-5671, the receiver could receive correctly for the first time, while at the rest of it the receiver couldn't receive the signals nor display how many satellites there were and what the signal strengths were.
I supposed, that this was due to the reason that the timestamp for the second time was earlier than that at previous time. How do we generate GPS signals continuously with the timestamps updated?

    Hi,
When you stram from a bin file repeatedly, it will run first time but will lose lock because when it comes tothe beginning of the file, its time suddenly jumps and the receiver does not accept this. For example, lets say your bin file is from GPS time t1=0 to GPS time t2=30000s. When you loop back around the file, the time increases from 0 to 30000 and then jumps back to 0 and that is not acceptable by receiver. You will need a direct streaming from 5671.
I can put that up for you soon if you want.

Version 11.3 I actually figured it out, its rather odd that the generate addresses button doesn't do this automatically. It appears that the mask was set to trigger use of the cache on a single bit.  0x00800000.  I had enough devices added where automatic address generation was using the most significant bit meaning that bit was falling within other address spaces. I changed it to 0xFFFFC000.  (Basically telling it to match addresses if all address signals above 16KB are zero).  I don't know if that is the proper way to do it, but it accepted it.  Now I'm fighting with some stuff regarding an FSL bus I added that apparently isn't quite properly setup, so I haven't found out yet if the processor likes that address mask.   But the tools appear to like it.

    Hi,
A couple of questions for you
    1. What are you using Device? (Assuming PXI what chassis and controller)
    2. What modules? (PCI cards)
Just to clarify what you are trying to achieve. You have successfully generated FM signals on 1 module (PXI card) and now you wish to programatically replicate this code on the other modules.

On my iPhone I can update the 3G signal strength by dialing *228 with Verizon. Is there anyway I can update signal strength with Verizon on my ipad?

it does not really update your signal strenght, It disconnects you from network and reconnects you back. Termin is reprovisioning. Once your phone is reconnected it autmatically searches for the best cell on the closest tower. You can do the same by simply turning off your wifi radio (airplane mode off). As far as I know there is nothing on your ipad that will make them(verizon) to reprovision your account on their side.

  • Using pulse width modulated signal (square wave) to control when a signal is turned on or off

Using pulse width modulated signal (square wave) to control when a signal is turned on or off
    Greetings All
I'm trying to use a labview created pulse width modulated signal (square wave) to control when a signal is turned on or off.
Here's my logic and graphic example:
    1) The source wave signal is continuous
    2) Use a PWM (square wave) created in labview to control when the signal is turned on or off
    3) If PWM signal (amplitude) is greater than 0 play signal if PWM is not greater than 0 don't play signal.
I'm actually using this to step sequence / pulse several separate magnetic coils using my audio card (which has several audio output channels), I have a signal in labview played constantly.  Than compare it to the PWM (square wave) which controls if the signal gets played on each separate channel or not.  That way I can control which coil is on and off and in what sequence they are activated.
I couldn't find an edge detection for a square wave created in labview so I tried Limits but that doesn't seem to work unless I change the phase manually and that only goes from 1 to -1.  I'm just trying to compare the PWM (square wave edges) already created by labview / play a signal if the pulse is greater than 0 and it turns off the signal if it's less than 0.
Should I be doing this another way
