Can not deselect edit position in table control

A table control has a property called editpos.  This property returns the cell cordinates for the cell that the use is editing and is writeable.  The property correctly returns -1 and -2 values depending if a header is selected or nothing is selected, however, if a -1 or -2 is written to the property it just selects cell 0,0.  Is this behavior a bug?
I wanted to input -2,-2 to deselect the current cell that is being edited.  Anyone have another idea on how to achieve this?

Thank you for the reply.  Actually, I am not interested in the table data.  I am only interested in the current edit position within the table control.  The table property editpos states
Edit Position Property
Property of Table.
The row-column pair index of the current text entry. Values of (0,0) indicate the top-left text entry. A value of –1 indicates the row or column header. Values of (–2, –2) indicate that no edits are being made to the text of the control. This property does not set text focus on a control that does not already have text focus.
Since the property returns cordinates for selected column headers (-1,x), row headers (x,-1) or no selection (-2,-2).  I was surprised if I tried to write a value of -1 or -2 to either the row or colum it would act as if I had typed a 0.  For example, (-2,-2) would select cell (0,0) and (-1,4) would select cell (0,4).  This behavior seemed like a bug to me or should at least be noted in the property help file.
I did manage to find a solution for my particular problem however.  Since I am not trying to move to the header row or column and just wanted to deselect the current edit position I just set KeyFocus to false.

    hi experts,
Search help (PREM) for personal no. is not coming in ALV grid table control.
i have assigned the srch help (prem) to my 'ZFIEXP_PROJALLOC' table for the emp_id.
but in output it is now showing the help.
    ls_fcat-fieldname = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      ls_fcat-ref_table = 'ZFIEXP_PROJALLOC'.
      ls_fcat-ref_field = 'EMP_ID'.
      ls_fcat-outputlen = '10'.

      ls_fcat-coltext = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      ls_fcat-seltext = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      append ls_fcat to pt_fieldcat.
      clear ls_fcat.
Then i tried to solve it using the PA0002 . ie.,
    ls_fcat-fieldname = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      ls_fcat-ref_table = 'PA0002'.
      ls_fcat-ref_field = 'PERNR'.
      ls_fcat-outputlen = '10'.

      ls_fcat-seltext = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      append ls_fcat to pt_fieldcat.
      clear ls_fcat.
with this it is showing the help in employee code, but, when i click on an empl number, it is not added to my table control and allowing me to add the number by typing them.
    plz help me.
    thanks.

Please show me where to put my codes to edit(edit directly on table control fields) and update my table control(using the 'save' button)?

    Hi,
You have to put the following code in the PBO of screen 1000.This code would make the fields editable to make changes in the table control fields directly.
Here there are 3 transactions. For create and change transactions, the fields will be in editable mode and for display transaction, they will be non editable mode.
DESCRIBE TABLE tb_line LINES lin.    " tb_line is the name of the internal table for the table control

          IF lin NE 0.

                MODIFY SCREEN.
              ENDIF.
            ENDLOOP.
          ENDIF.
Once the fields are edited and the save button is pressed, the entered values have to be populated into the Z tables. The code has to written in the PAI of the screen 1000.Here the values from the work area of the internal table are moved into the Z Table. The code will be.
    LOOP AT tb_line.

  • How do I deselect a row in table control on scrren?

    Hello All:
How do I write the code to deselect a row in table control on a screen? This is in dialog programming.
    Thanks.
    Mithun

I thought that the descriptions given in the Help are clear.
The ADDRESS function constructs a cell address string from separate row, column, and table identifiers.
    ADDRESS(row, column, [type], [style], [table])
row: The row number of the address.
column: The column number of the address.
I dropped the comments about type, style and table as I don't use them here.
    =IF(ISBLANK(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(),1))),"",INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(),2))*INDIRECT(A DDRESS(ROW(),3)))
    INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(),1))
returns the contents of the cell whose row is the same than the one containing the formula \[the row number is given by ROW()] and whose column is the 1st one)
    INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(),2))
returns the contents of the cell whose row is the same than the one containing the formula \[the row number is given by ROW()] and whose column is the 2nd one)
    INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(),3))
returns the contents of the cell whose row is the same than the one containing the formula \[the row number is given by ROW()] and whose column is the 3rd one)
In short, when the formula is applied in row 9 it behaves like:
    =IF(ISBLANK(A9),"",B9*C9)
The long syntax is required to be able to enter it only once in the header cell as described in the Help and in the PDF User Guide in a chapter entitled "Applying a Formula Once to Cells in a Column or Row".
As we want to use such a formula, it would be odd to destroy its ability using a different formula in a standard bottom row.
More, in a footer row, we may use shorter formulas than in other rows.
In a standard row 10 we would have to write =SUM(D2:D9)
in a footer row we enter only =SUM(D) which add the contents of every standard cells of the column D.
This feature is also described in the named resources.

Oracle can not support upto 32 characters table name and field name ?
    It is true?
    null

    Hello All
It's been a year after those posts about the limit of identifiers in Oracle Database. Does anybody know what can be done to get rid of that primitive limit? We are developing using Application Servers, Java, generated Code and a very nice object model, in which we can't just use abreviations because of early database age memory shortcomings.
We are currently using 8i in a very large organization. Is there any chance this version can be configured to allow larger identifiers? Is upgrading to 9i going to solve this problem? Is Oracle Databases really doomed forever because of a 20-year-ago limitation?
Please, I do like Oracle Databases. I don't want to be flooded with quick answers like "just use 32 character identifiers". I would like to hear a serious solution. Is anybody there still locked in the 8.3 filename paradigm of MS/PC-DOS? Does anybody has to fit an entire Enterprise System in segmented 640Kb of memory? Does anybody has to use monochrome character mode interfaces? Of course not those in the mainstream.
I also know that other hadrware and software products have lots os limitations. Take Windows 2000. Its command line has a limit of 255 characters! You can't have more than 4GB of memory in a PC! However, one can't expect one mistake to justify others.
I wish I were very wrong in this respect, and all it should be necessary is to turn on some kind of configuration parameter in 8i to allow us to develop high quality code.
    Thanks for your attention.
Please, feel free to contact me if you have a solution.

  • Cursor positioning in table control: marking content of a field

    Hello everybody,
I use a table-control for data input. For fast data input, my customers need dynamic positioning of the cursor. I'm using the set cursor field ... line ... statement and it works fine, except for one problem with a large text-field:
Is it possible to set the cursor in a field plus mark all the content of the field? The behaviour, i'm looking for is that any input in the field will replace the existing content. Is there any other option?
Thank you for any suggestions, regards, Kathrin!

So you want dynamic cursor positioning within a table control. Take a look at FM SCROLLING_IN_TABLE and demo program DEMO_DYNPRO_TABCONT_LOOP. If this does not address your requirements the you can do it manually as follows:
For example, your internal table has 30 rows, your table control displays 10 rows (value of sy-loopc) at one time. The value of <tabctrl>-top_line contains 11, meaning you are at the second page of table control. Your cursor is at 12th row and now on pressing ENTER, you want the cursor to be positioned at 13th row.
In your PAI, issue the statement GET CURSOR LINE <lineno>. This will give you the current cursor position in the table control with reference to the top row currently displayed. So the value of <linno> will be 2.
In your PBO, calculate the next line no to position your cursor into. This can be done by the formula:
      next_line = <tabctrl>-TOP_LINE + <linno> - 1.
Then issue the statement SET CURSOR FIELD <field_name> LINE <next_line>.
    Hope this helps.

  • 3EA4 -- can not run SqlDeveloper report to "table" style

The same SqlDeveloper report, which was/is working in 3EA3 - same Oracle user, same privileges, same platform, same connection, same Java version, same same ... can not run the report to the "table" style. It works only with the "Script" style. So, betwen EA3 and EA4 something changed. No work around, just lost capability.
note: I tried many SqlDeveloper reports that were working in the "table" style - none of them works in the "table" style anymore with EA4 - that really is not cool :(
Here is one of those reports:
    SELECT
       object_name "Object_Name",
       object_type "Object_Type",
       CASE OBJECT_TYPE

ok, I did update to JDK 1.6_24 , edited the jdk file under .sqldeveloper to point to the correct JDK version and invoked the 3EA4 from the command line:
    raisin:~/sqldeveloper3EA4$ ./sqldeveloper.sh -J-Xmx1024m
still having the issue. None of the "table" style reports work.
So, something definitely changed in EA4 that broke the "table" style reports (at least in my case).
I am using the same "thin" connections that I created before (it picked it up from the .sqldeveloper settins). Did anything change for the thin jdbc connection in EA4 compared to EA3 ? I looked at the change list and don't see it there. I saw bug 09883309 reported here: 3.0 final+EA4: Doesn't work with 11.1 OCI/Thick driver , but don't think it has anything to do with the problem I am seeing - I don't use OCI, but jdbc thin. I wonder if there is a problem with 11.2.0.2 jdbc thin in EA4 and my database server version (10gR2 base version on RHEL 4).
But if Jim doesn't have the problem with the same JDK version and "almost" the same platform - maybe the database server version is an issue ? All I know, these reports (table style) was/is working with the EA3 - but not in EA4 .
When I run the report - the execution window does not display anything - all grey - then if I click on the green arrow (go/run) button, I see the following exceptions in the terminal from which I invoked the sqldeveloper:

  • Field is not populating in BDC from Table Control value????

    Hi Experts,
After adding a new Quantity (MY_QUANTITY) field to the existing Table control, I populated the data from SAP into it.
Now, the user will change (if he wants) its value, then he clicks the Push Button by expecting the posting of the Document i.e.in other words. the Control encounters the statement of MY_FORM_CREATE_ABAVN_VIA_BDC in my Prog.
But, MY_QUANTITY (changed, even not changed too) value/s is not passing in to my BDC_DATA table/code?
I am doing BDC for ABAVN transaction and wanting the Quantity filed of ''Partial Retirement'' tab to b populated in BDC. So, I am using as,
    SAPLAMDP--Screen 100--Field as ANLA-MENGE (its a Subscreen/Tabs of SAP Screen)
    So,
    1) Problem is with my BDC code?
    2) or, ''SAPLAMDP--Screen 100--Field as ANLA-MENGE'' is this wrong?
    3) or else any other?

    Hai sridhar,

  • How can I change the size of table control in table maintenance re-gen?

    Hello Experts,
I hv created a maintenance view and after generated table maintenance view for it.
now it adjusts the size of table control in table maintenance generation.
I want to change the size (width) of table control and again re-generate the table maintenance.
But when re-generation occurs, table control size is set to initial.
why it is happening? and wt to do to solve this issue? any user exit?
I need the changed size of table control even if its re-generated.
    Regards,
    R.Hanks

    Hello Ronny,
Goto SM30, Enter your table name for which you have maintained your table maintainence generator .
When the maintainence screen appears for your table name , Goto System->Status->Screen Program name.
Copy that program name from there.
Open that module program through SE80,this is the program name of your SM30 screen which appears when we enter our table name in SM30 transaction.
In SE80,click the layout of the module program name you have entered there.
Its layout will display you the table control(of SM30) present to enter your your enteries.
In the change mode you can change its size , savee it and activate that program.
Now goto to SM30 again and enter your table name, it will show you the changed size of the table control used to take the enteries.
Note:This changed size is only for your table name and it will remain of its previous size for other table enteries.
    Hope it helps you.
    Thanks Mansi

  • Can we Customize Edit User-Defined Table Screen in Fusion Application

    Hi All,
We have a requirement to add a ADFDI functionality to the 'Edit USer-Defined Table' screen by adding a 'Mass Upload' Button.
Normally for Some of the screens (Fusion Compensation) i am seeing 'Personalize -> Edit Current Page' Option on Menu items on top. But on 'Edit User-Defined Table' i am not seeing this option in 'Personalize' Menu.
So the questions is is this screen Customizable in Fusion Application? If So What will be EAR file which we need to use for Customization.
The screen where we need to add ADFDI Functionality is under 'oracle/apps/setup' path.
Can anyone point me to the Exact EAR on this and also let me know if we can customize it or not
    Thanks
    Kaja

Generally the code structure can be observed run-time [url https://blogs.oracle.com/fadevrel/entry/finding_code_artifacts_for_customization]using the composer, however in your case the content comes through a portlet in which case the method does not work as you cannot drill down to the specific region details in the composer. Based on a search through the code I think the regions you are interested are:
<li>hcmPayroll/userTables/ui/public_html/oracle/apps/hcm/userTables/ui/page/UserTableSearch.jsff --> This is the details page with header "Manage User-Defined Tables"
<li>hcmPayroll/userTables/ui/public_html/oracle/apps/hcm/userTables/ui/page/ManageUserStructure.jsff --> This is the details page with header "User-Defined Table: <TABLE_NAME>"
These would presumably be in EarHcmPayroll. I'll see if I can find out how the portlet content can be observed from the RT application..

  • Editable ALVs vs Table Controls

    Hi...
Can somebody give me the advantages and disadvantages of using editable ALV's  (ALV grid) over table controls? I've got a requirement from my client side wherein I have to replace all table controls with editable ALV's and prior to that, I've to submit an understanding document highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of doing the same.  Also, I've heard that SAP is thinking of replacing all existing table controls in its standard screens with editable ALVs. Can somebody send me a link or some article to substantiate this?
<removed>. Please do help me out asap if you feel like it.
    Thanks and Regards,

    > And also, if its true that SAP is thinking on replacing table controls with editable ALV's
SAP usually don't spend time to rewrite existing programs. Many efforts and risks of regression for a so little gain. Really, that would surprise me
That would be rather easy to show ALV advantages, as you can do almost "nothing" with table controls. So I would begin with the only table control functions:
    - change order of columns
    - hide columns
    - change column size
    - save the layout above, for the user and for everyone
    - number of fixed columns
    - good performance in the WAN as only screen lines are loaded
ALV can do all of them. The other ALV functions are : see [SAP library - SAP List Viewer for SAP GUI|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/8d/e994374c9cd355e10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm]).
Another difference is that checks are done immediately for current page of table control (when you press enter or scroll, the PAI is triggered), while they are done for the whole lines with ALV (in fact you could do it, but I guess you don't want to spend much time to develop)
