Can Not Make Alias of Files on Server
I have one computer on my network I cannot get to make alias files. It will make the alias and when you go to select it I get cannot find alias error. Even when I repair it it errors. I have tried the short cut to make an alias with no luck and even made the alias in the folder the original file is in with the same result. All other computers can do this function except this one system. This IMac is using OS 10.5.8. Not sure what other info is needed. Any ideas why this is happening?

I have one folder on an XSAN that one machine can not make changes to. Whenever I try to duplicate or copy a file in this folder I get 'The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50).'
The permissions are fine, and I have trashed the finder plist and reset the NVRAM.
Anyone have a answer?

- make sure you have at least 10% of your harddisk in free space (I had only 5%).
- do a PRAM-reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379)
- perform a hardware test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509)
- make a complete backup (with for example Carbone Clone Copier, see http://www.bombich.com/)
- after complete backup: use diskwarrior (boot from Diskwarrior DVD, first perform diagnostics, then perform "Rebuild" which rebuilds your file directory).
So far I only cleared up some space on my HD, and already the problem occurs less.
Still, I will go through the other tips too.

Please help if can figure this out. I'm convinced it is a Windows XP SP3 problem from searching on google and seeing other ppl on XP SP3 with same problem (but no working solution for myself). I'll try to be complete-listing all I've done.

The SOHT Java Client requires a properties file. Either start
the application in the same directory as the soht.properties

So then I do these cmds which produce the exact same error/reply just above; Unable to load..:

So then I copy soht.properties to C root and do:
java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar -client C:\soht.properties <same error as above
Then from other information I have read I right click on the .jar file, select open with Always open with:

Try again.. same problem.
Then I do cmd:

does nothing, retry the other commands same thing (either nothing or those same replies)
Then I read (http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5384879) someone had the same problem as I and they solved it by uninstalling all Java/reboot/ then install JDK 6 Update 14 with NetBeans 6.5.1 start NetBeans and then it worked for them.
So I unistalled all Java, rebooted and gave the cmd another try (before re-installing), now a new error, of course:
C:\062>java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Then I install Java SE and NetBeans Cobundle (JDK 6u14 and NB 6.5.1) Final Release/ reboot/ open Netbeans/
go to test java page; all is good, run cmds again -and still nothing..
C:\062>java -version

Taggert77_: I have never used NetBeans. I only installed it in the bundle as I had read on another post that somehow installing the bundle magically helped another user with the same problem (he didn't know why it worked after that either).
Before XP SP3 I was able to execute .jar file through cmd prompt. Now I am not.

I did give your cmd a try, and it produced nothing :( (just like the other correct cmds)

How can I make an ant file that launches an AS project app in a debug flash player that traces to the flex console?
Basically I like the control over the compiling process that I get by using Ant - but I really want traces to come up immediately without having to switch contexts.
I have an ant file that successfully launches a swf in the flashplayer - but I don't know how to make the flex console start displaying the trace output. I assume that I will have to point it to the appropriate trace output file - but I am not sure how to have ant even address the console. Is this possible?

All- I get this message ("iPhone can not make or receive calls. Restore from iTunes" (happend once while on airplain mode and now once while in wifi only area, out of cell range)). iPhone 4. Newest OS. Never happened with old OS! Cycling phone on/off does not help. Ignoring message causes phone to cycle off then on. After first time this happened, I restored. Six days later...same problem! Clearly a new fix is necessary. Suggestions?
I have not tried that...I will look up the process so that I can do it correctly (and still transfer all of my files, contacts, etc). Any suggestions? What is the advantage of restoring as a new device..is this more akin to a complete wipe of a hard drive?

If you want to stream the file from the server before it's entirely uploaded, then I don't believe you can treat it like a normal file. If you're just wanting to throw it up there and then listen to it, then you can treat it like a normal file.
But again, I'm not entirely certain. You might be able to stream the start of the file from the server while you're still uploading the end of it, but it probably depends on what method you're using to do the transfer. -

Can not make network user accounts
After upgrading from 10.6.8 Server to 10.8 and installing server tools, I can not make network user accounts. All of my old network user accounts migrated to the new OS and work properly, I just can not seem to make new accounts under 10.8.
Under 10.6.8 I would log into Workgroup Manager as diradmin and I could pretty easily make new users.
Under 10.8.2 I launch the server app and click on "users". The addition (+) symbol in greed out for making new users. I can make local users via System Preferences, but I can not see any way to change local users to network users via either System Preferences or the Server app.
I have logged into the server app using a local administrator account, the diradmin account, and the root account. None of the accounts allow access to create new network users (addition symbol is greed out).
Is there a trick to making network users in 10.8 that I am missing?
(as an aside, I have noticed I can log into Directory Utility as diradmin and can view the node with all my network accounts. It seems like I might be able to manually create a user account this way, but I'm not quite sure how to make the user record)Open Directory service is started and functional for all the pre-existing network user accounts that were made under 10.6.8 and earlier. I just can not seem to create new netowork user accounts.
I followed the steps on this page and managed to make a user record that appeared as a network user in the Server app, but I still can not seem to log in under the user I made in this fashion (dscl command via terminal).

But if you did do that, then don't let the install start Firefox for you as you would want to use you existing desktop icon or method of starting Firefox, and should decline having Firefox install start Firefox for you. When the install starts then invoke Firefox in your normal manner. This should eliminate problems of creating a new profile rather than using your old profile. -

Move
WIDL w1 = new WIDL();
out of test() and modify it as
public class TestWidl

and this will work.
