Can not send my NEF files to Photoshop CS3...Please Help

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong!! I shoot with a Nikon D300. I use Photoshop CS3 along with Bridge and InDesign. I have Windows Vista. Now that the facts are out of the way........
I have tried installing an update of Camera Raw. I did the following. Please correct me before I pull my hair out!!!
I first removed ACR 4.0 and put it in a folder on my desktop (Camera Raw .8bi)
I then downloaded DNG Camera Raw 4.6 zip from the Adobe site. These were my next steps:
start/computer/double click local c/program files/common files/adobe/plugins/cs3
I then took the DNG camera raw 4.6 and placed it in the last folder (cs3)
I started Bridge. I can see my Raw images there. I double clicked on an image to transfer to photoshop and an error message poped up (once again) saying that photoshop does not support the file. I went to the help section of cs3/about plugins and there was not a camera raw icon I could click on.
Did I install this in the wrong place??? What can I do to obtain these files? I need them to be converted to JPEG or a TIFF.
Someone please have an answer! I'm praying!

The DNG converter is a stand-alone application which is an alternative to Adobe Camera raw. Particularly useful when your camera is not covered by the latest version of ACR.
It does not go in any specific folder and you have to use it to convert your NEF files to DNG format in order to view them in Bridge and process them in ACR.
You really need to read the instructions on the download pages and in the links there before ploughing on to disaster!

They are release candidates, which means they're undergoing final testing but they're much more stable than a beta version. They have full support for the D600, so you should find the rendering looks better too.

For the time being, shoot JPEG images. At this time there is no support for NEF files from the D7200 in any Adobe product. It was released at such a time that it wasn't included in the last Camera Raw update. And Lightroom hasn't been updated either. Consequently, there is no DNG converter available at this time. We will have to wait and see what programs will be able to accommodate the D7200 when Adobe releases updates or upgrades that support the camera.

I down loaded the update for 4 and when I get to the end where is you click finish, it tells me to close firefox, but I do not have it open. Now I can not get in to Firefox at all. PLEASE Help.

You can get Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
You should still have your profile folder, so when you install 3. you will get your bookmarks and other user data back.

How to open Nikon D7000 NEF Files in Photoshop CS3

i have installed the 4.6 camera raw update but it does not recognise the D7000 NEF Files... same for Bridge. what can i do to view files directly in CS3?

Every camera model must be profiled and specifically supported, and Adobe only updates the current version of Photoshop when they add support for each new camera. You should upgrade your tools just like you upgraded your camera.
None of your new camera's NEF files should be viewable by CS3-vintage components, but all of your DNGs should be viewable by such, and if some aren't, then it sounds like your files may be getting corrupted on their way from the camera to the computer. Are you using a cable to the camera or are you using a card-reader to access the images? Using a card reader is preferable. Some cameras have different modes their USB-connection can be in and something other than mass-storage mode can lead to problems. I don't have a Nikon so am not sure of things more specifically, but if you can use a card-reader and just use Windows Explorer to copy the images that would probably be the best thing. If you have a new memory card that could also be something to look at.

Nikon D600 NEF files and Photoshop CS3

I am using Photoshop CS3 and cannot upload Nikon D600 NEF files--obviously a gap between the two debuts. Are there any suggestions, or am I stuck upgrading?

You could get Lightroom 5, then output your files as tiffs to be opened in CS3. I haven't used the standalone DNG converter, so I'm not sure if that gives you the option to save as a tiff also. You could try the dng converter first to see if you can save as another file type, or use a legacy DNG version that is conpatable with CS3.

Can't save layered .psd files in Photoshop CS3

Hello,
I noticed yesterday that I can no longer save layered .psd files to any folder. What does get saved is only a generic file symbol.
I'm using a Dell 8200 computer, 1GB of RAM, IntelPentium4 processer, Windows XP Professional,and a Canon MP780 multiple function printer.

Is it saved incorrectly, or is the problem just that the icon is the generic one. In other words, can you A) click to open the file from the desktop. And, b) if you can't click from the desktop, can you open the file from within Photoshop, and see the layers correctly.
If B works, and A does not, then this means your Windows has lost the association between PSD files and Photoshop. You can often correct this by right clicking the file, and choosing Open With, with the Always open with this program field checked. There is also a way to set the icons back up, but this is more complicated.

Of course not. You need ACR (Camera Raw) version 2.4. Version 2.0 does NOT support DNGs.
After you correctly install ACR 2.4 according to the instructions on the download page and after you relaunch Photoshop, you need to Purge the Cache for each folder.

Nope. Point the DNG Converter to a folder containing RAW files, not to the raw files themselves. The DNG Converter works on Folders containing raw files, not on individual files.

Forget that. It does NOT apply to Photoshop 8.x. In CS3, you can have ACR hosted either by Photoshop or by Bridge. Photoshop 8.x doesn't even have Bridge.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your comptuer for just such an occasion. use your backup copy to put everything back.

I have this problem with iTunes. I moved all my music to a new folder and not about 1200 files can not be located. I tried everything i could find in forums and YouTube, nothing worked. I created a new folder and copied all songs, without folders, just .mp3 files. I set this folder as iTunes Media folder location and iTunes found about 200 files out of 1400. So the other 1200 are still with this sign . I literally tried everything I could, but nothing worked Please HELP

What you should have done was to declare a new iTunes Media folder, let iTunes copy the content to it, back up, then delete the originals.
Since it is too late to reverse what you done I suggest you try my script FindTracks. For details on how it works see this thread.

If I do not call em.flush(), no error throws, and program is executed succesfully. BUT nothing is saved to DB. IF I used em.flush(), I got errormsg - "No Transaction", but the Dao is already annoted with @Transactional.
Reading through the JPA is no problem.
I tried different solutions heavily, but no result. Pleaes anyone point out what's the error and why object can not be serialized to DB.

You might try posting on a different forum (possibly a Spring forum) as this one is more specifically aimed at TopLink/EclipseLink which you are not using.
It appears the em is not associated to the transaction, but I can't suggest much other than point you at an EclipseLink Spring integration demo such as described here

which might show settings that are missing or incorrect.
If you switched to using EclipseLink as the JPA provider i would suggest uploading the log file as that might detail how or why it is not being assocated to the transaction.

I was just researching the same problem and found this info :
"I figured it out, i had "mouse keys" on.
To fix go to Preferences>Universal>Mouse> MouseKeys and click off"
sure enough I had the 'mousekeys' on and turning it off - keyboard now working
