I would like to assist you today with resolving your printing issue of only being able to print from apps from your Windows 8.1 computer to your HP Officejet Pro 6230 ePrinter.
To ensure that everything is installed and loaded correctly for your printer drivers and software can you please run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This Tool will run on your computer and 'fix printing' issues for you. Should any connection, software or driver conflicts be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor will identify and resolve those issues.

Printing problems Desket 3520 - says i can only print from apps
So frustrating.
Since upgrading to Window 8.1 I have nothing but print problems, despite unistalling and reinstalling. Now when I try to print,when I click on the print icon (that comes up from the swipe side bar) i get a message saying I can only print from apps. So I have been unable to print word docs etc of any kind. The printer works fine from my iphone and ipad and the laptop can see the printer wirelessly and connects to it - BUT IT WONT PRINT!! I've had to resort to emailing the docs to myself to print from my ipad - ridiculous!
WHAT is happening HP? I use an HP laptop and HP printer for a REASON, compatibilty. NOT SO since the update.
Please can someone send me an easy fix for this frustrating problem. 'Ive tried everything and I'm fairly computer savvy.

I am not quite sure why your Windows 8.1 is not printing to your Deskjet 3520 however, I have some ideas to try and find out and hopefully get it printing for you. The printer is working with other devices, which shows us the printer itself is alright.
Run the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results. Please send me the results.
Also try a Clean Boot, restart the PC and try a print again. This will turn off all start up programs running on your PC, in the case there is something running that is blocking the printer from printing, this should bypass it. Also disable your firewall temporarily.
Try printing from two programs afterwards.
Also include how you have the printer connected to the PC (wireless, ethernet, usb).

Can only print from certain programs. Started suddenly.
Everything was working just fine and then suddenly I can only print from InDesign and Word. And when I print from InDesign I can't change any settings in the "print" dialog box or the program freezes and crashes. When I try to print from firefox, photoshop, illustrator among others, it freezes and crashes. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the print driver and restarting my computer numerous times and the problem persists. (Unless I am not doing it properly) I go into my printer settings and remove the printer then go back in and reinstall it.
Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated as this is affecting my ability to do my job efficiently. Thanks so much.How is this...

I can only print from one USB port - is this a problem

I am a recent convert from PC to Mac, with a new Intel-based MacBook. I have installed my Epson Stylus D68 Photo and have been successfully printing (eventually!). However, after recently unplugging the printer to move the laptop and then reconnecting the printer I get "communication error" messages and no print. I found that the printer only works when connected to one of the USB ports (even after full reboot etc). Other devices work in the other USB port...
Is there something wrong with the machine or me?

MacBook (Intel) Mac OS X (10.4.7)PSE is a one-off purchase. You can buy a retail DVD in an electronics store or as a download from Adobe. You have 2 activations for non-concurrent use and the license is croos-platform for Windows and OSX if you so desire.

Windows 8.1 printing from apps
I installed Windows 8.1 and now to print from the desktop or my documents, when I go to devices and click print, a message comes up that "you can only print from apps"
My printer, D1320, prints from the web fine but not the desktop.
the app, hp AiO doesn't see my printer on the computer it's installed on.

New printer purchase and can't print from classic 9 partitioned side of HD
I recently purchased an Epson RX595 printer. After installation I found that I can only print from the OS X - 10.3.9 (Panther) partitioned side. (This is the original HD so it is not all that big.) I cannot print anything on the Classic 9 partition. My question is can I transfer my Microsoft Office 98 from Classic 9 to the OS X, if so, how do I do that? I tried simply click and drag and it opens from the OS X but the menu bar tells me it is really opening from Classic 9 and therefore will not print. My G4 is the first one Apple made (purchased in 1999). The processor is 450 MHz and I have 640 MB SDRAM. I was told by the support person at Epson that OS X is the "dominant" side of the HD which is fine. I just need to know how to get my applications on Classic 9 to the OS X. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

That printer is only compatible with OS X (Jaguar or later) and the oldest version of Word compatible with OS X is Office 2000.
NeoOffice (freeware/opensource) is a Mac suite of applications compatible with Microsoft Office apps. Download and install it and you should be able to open and print Word .docs on the OS X side of your hard drive.

I have two questions:
To fix, do a custom setting, for the Header and Footer as follows:
Print / Page Setup / Margins & Header/Footer / "Customize" the "Left" as follows (leave Center and Right all blank)

To change the format of the Short date in Win 8.1, go to:
Control Panel / Date and Time / Date and Time tab / Change date and time / Change calendar settings /

QUESTIONS:
1.) How do you get rid of the time, which appears after the date? In IE, you use a lowercase "d" - but that doesn't work here.
2.) Is there a way to change the font just for the Header and Footer, to something like Microsoft Sans Serif 10?
Firefox leaves no room around the text in the Header and Footer at the edge. To fix:
Address Bar / about:config
Enter keyword "edge"
Then change all four values for the printer you're using to:
print.printer_Foxit_PhantomPDF_Printer.print_edge_bottom . . . 5
print.printer_Foxit_PhantomPDF_Printer.print_edge_left . . . 10

I've never used Print Booklet or your printer, but some things are determined by the printer and printer software, rather than the program from which you are printing. You might want to see if Xerox's website has any info also.

Power View can only print one sheet at a time with Power BI Mobile Apps
I have PowerView for Excel 2013 on Power BI Preview. I have 2 reports sheet and 2 hidden data sheets on Excel.
I'm getting error on Mobile Application in Windows 8 RT tablet.
I should see 4 reports in preview page, but I see 2 correct reports and 2 errors.
Power View can only print one sheet at a time. Please switch to the desired sheet and try again.
Why this occurs? What should done in Excel?
Kenny_IThank you for reporting this issue. This is a known issue that we had fixed last week. In a few days, the updated version of the app will be available in the Windows store. At that time, your app should automatically get updated to the newest version, if
you have not changed your default settings.

Lightroom 6 is up and running. Upgraded from LR5. However I want to change the file name to be more generic, e.g., description in LR5 references LR5 and I want to change that to just John G's LR Catalog/Library.lrcat. How can I accomplish this without fouling everything up?
Ok, well you'll need to do something like this. Now this part is a little dependent on your database server:

Note that the applet can only contact the server that is was loaded from, so you might want to do a getCodeBase() or something like that to get the server address.

Should I be able to use a Lexmark Pro 205 wireless 3 in 1 printer with iPad 1? I have installed the LexPrint app on iPad, downloaded the Lexmark Listener on desktop computer but still can't print from iPad. My iPad cannot find the printer. But I can print from desktop without USB cable. I upgraded the system on my iPad sometime ago. Suggestions??
Here is the list of AirPrint printers, and you particular printer is not on it. So that means you will need to use the Lexmark app, and print through your computer.
There is a Lexmark guy that hangs around these forums who may chime in with a response as well.

Unfortunately, connecting a non-AirPrint-enabled printer to an AirPort base station's USB port will not make it AirPrint-ready.
You will need to use another solution, like Printopia, to be able to print to this printer from an iOS device.
