Can Premiere Elements be used on an animated gif file?

I am considering purchasing Premiere Elements but I need to know if one can use it to add effects to an animated gif file.
For example, in Photoshop Elements one can add certain effects to a gif image, such as giving it certain textures or filters.
Can one do the same kind of thing in Premiere Elements and if so can it be done to an animated gif file?
Maybe a better way to ask this question is:  can you import an animated gif file into Premiere Elements and then manipulate it?  Run filters, etc.
Thanks for your help.

If you load your GIF into Premiere Elements 10, edit it, then share to an AVI file, you can then import the AVI file into GIF Movie Gear by Gamani, which will then create an animated GIF. I learned about this utility from a Microsoft tutorial on creating icons for Windows XP.
http://www.gamani.com/product_icon.htm
If you use Firefox and get redirected, try using Internet Explorer instead.
After the trial period is over, it's $29.95US for 4 licences.
When you share to an AVI file, you will want to select the Microsoft AVI item from the list, then click the advanced button to open up the dialog where you will need to select a codec and enter the frame size and frame rate. The codec will have to be one that GIF Movie Gear likes, so there may be some trial and error needed to get a good codec. I shared to an AVI after picking Xvid for the codec, which GIF Movie Gear imported.

  • How can premiere elements be used to create an 80 minute 720p hd video?

I'd like to use Premiere Elements to create a couple 80 minute hd videos that employs image stabilization filters, but I don't know techniques for easily making such large files.  Premiere Elements is supposed to be a very stable program, but I have doubts as to whether it will do what I want.  Can the blu-ray burning segment of this program reassemable small files into a single blu-ray disc that plays as if it were a single file; or is this even the way to approach this problem?

    Welcome to the forum.
Depending on the specs. of your computer, and on the specs. of the HD files that you Import, then yes - that is what PrE does - edit video.
Can you give us the specs. of the files that you will be using? Just knowing which make/model of camera, and its settings, will be very useful.
Then, can you give us the specs. of your computer?
You will want to choose a Project Preset (at New Project), that matches your Source Footage (the files to be Imported) 100%. When you Import those Source Files, and drag them to the Timeline, you will have no red lines above them, until you add Stabilization, or other Effects, or overlays, such as Titles, PiP (Picture in Picture) or Transitions. Then, you will probably want to hit Enter/Return, to Render the Timeline, for smoothest playback.
When done with the editing, just go to Create Menus, and add a BD (Blue-ray Disc) Menu Set, Chapter Markers, Menu Markers, etc., and go to Share, choosing Blu-ray Disc.
    Good luck, and happy editing,

  • How to download a DVD movie into Premiere Elements 12 using my MacBook Pro so I can edit the video?

How to download a DVD movie into Premiere Elements 12 using my MacBook Pro so I can edit the video?

    Bob Perez
Please review and consider the following which works for me in Premiere Elements 12 Window 64 bit.
From what you wrote, I suspect that you have DVD-VIDEO widescreen on DVD disc. For now I will assume that you are working in a NTSC setup.
Premiere Elements DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc is characterized as interlaced video with field order lower (bottom) field first. I am not sure how your DVD-VIDEO on DVD was produced - upper (top) field first or lower (bottom) field first. We may have to apply Field Option Reverse Field Dominance at the Timeline level, but for now let us put that aside for a later time.
Insert your DVD disc in the DVD burner tray.
Open Premiere Elements to the Expert workspace and set the project preset manually for NTSC DV Widescreen. How to details for manual project preset setting are found
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE11: Accuracy of Automatic Project Preset (New Project Dialog) Setting
Then, Add Media/DVD camera or Computer Drive/Video Importer.
The video files from the DVD-VIDEO will be the larger size files and will probably start with VTS_01_1.VOB.
In the Video Importer designate the save location for video file VOB(s) and select Add to Timeline and hit Get Media
to put the files on the Timeline for editing.
If you have more than one DVD disc to "rip", please set up the Video Importer Save In location so that the save in location has a folder for each disc. The fact that all DVDs have the same VTS_01_1.VOB name etc will cause problems if you saved all to the same place as individual files.
Determine how that works for you in your Mac computer environment. We will be watching for your progress.
Others may tell you that you need to convert the VOB to another format before import into Premiere Elements. That is no necessary for Premiere Elements.
    Thank you.

  • Problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 12 using Scary Halloween template

I'm having a problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 12 using Scary Halloween template under Menu Theme.  My problem is the red line is default to Scenes.  I would like it to default to Play.  How can I do that? Is it a bug?
Side Note:  Other template default to Play Movie
    Thanks

No bug. Just the way the .psd for the Scary Halloween template was put together.
You are going to have to get into the .psd for the Scary Halloween template and rearrange the
Layer Sets. Do you know how to do that? If not, I will give you very specific instructions on how to
    do that.
You want the order of the Layer Sets to look like
That is what worked for me just now to get the disc menu Preview to open to the main
menu with the red highlight under Play.
We will be watching for your reply.

  • Can premiere elements make quality DVDs from photos?

Can you make excellent quality DVD's from photos using Premiere Elements 10 using a Mac?"

You should not have any issues.
If you are using only Still Images, here are the tips:
Set up your Project as either NTSC, or PAL DVD, in either Widescreen 16:9, or Standard 4:3. For most current still cameras, the Widescreen 16:9 would be the more likely candidate, but also consider the TV's, that your viewers will likely have. If there are a ton of older, 4:3 CRT TV's in that mix, then consider them.
Scale all of your Still Images to about the Frame Size of your Project, so ~ 720 x 480 for NTSC. See this ARTICLE.
    Import those into the Project.
Drag those to the Timeline, and edit, as required.
    Add any Scene Selection Markers.
When edited, go to Create Menus, and choose either a Wide, or Standard (depends on which you chose) Menu Set, then adjust, as is required.
    When authored, Burn to Disc.
Remember, your Still Images are probably much higher resolution, than DVD, so do not expect HD quality material. However, if you/your viewers have an up-rezzing DVD, or BD player, properly hooked up, the resultant DVD will look spectacular.
    Good luck,

  • Can Premiere Elements read .vob files?

I have some .vob files that I generated from an old VHS tape.  I want to convert them to mpg or some other format so I can edit them and post them on the web.  Can Premiere Elements do this?
    Thanks!

If you used a VHS/DVD deck, you may have an issue with the first VOB, because it will also contain Menus and navigation instructions, plus the first part of the MPEG-2 AV file. This ARTICLE will give you some background. With a 100% DVD-compliant (very important) VOB, PrE from at least version 4 up to version 8, will Import those, with few issues. Unfortunately, most VHS/DVD decks do not create 100% DVD-compliant discs, due to how they handle the Menus and navigation. This then becomes a YMMV situation.
    Good luck,

  • Can Premiere Elements 7 be split onto 2 LCDs?

    Hello,
    1. Can Premiere Elements 7 workspace, etc be divided between 2 LCD displays?
    2. Is GeForce such as GTS 250, or Quadro such as NVS or 1700, best or adequate for PE7?
    Thanks.

    Hello Hunt,
Thanks for the info. You used the word “overkill.” I am unsure if my ‘puter configuration is rife with overkill for PE7. Can you or Steve Grisetti or anyone who considers themselves pretty knowledgeable/experienced critique my ‘puter choice before I buy?
I used Videoguys.com to figure my needs basically. Then at hp.com, I selected an HP desktop using their customizing tool thinking that that should avoid any compatibility problems (right?). I don’t want to crap shoot building a system myself. Thus, I chose the Pavilion Elite e9150t for exclusive use of the PE7 with the following configuration:
    Vista Business 64, SP1
    Intel Core i7-975, 3.33GHz, (1MB L2 + 8MB L3 w/QPI - unimportant for NLE?)
    6x2GB DDR3, 1066MHz SDRAM
    2x500GB RAID 0, 7200 SATA
1GB nVidia GeForce GTS 250 (at the performance level I chose from Videoguys’ chart, Videoguys recommended Quadro over GeForce, Quadro not offered by HP with this model) http://www.videoguys.com/Guide/E/Videoguys+System+recommendations+for+Video+Editing/0x4aebb06ba071d2b 6a2cd784ce243a6c6.aspx
Blu-ray writer, Lightscribe SuperMulti DVD burner
Integrated 7.1 sound (no other option allowed with the GeForce graphics card selected)
    2xHP 21.5” 2159m, 1920x1080p, 3000:1, 3ms (oddly, the tool wouldn’t allow me to choose more than 1 monitor). http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store &category=desktops&a1=Category&v1=Performance+and+entertainment&series_name=e9150t_series
I wonder if it would be wise to select the $220 option for HP to install everything in my home office, including PE7 - based on all the installation/setup trouble I’ve seen on these forums? Many people must be wasting exorbitant amounts of time on this, some possibly rendering their software and/or hardware unuseable?
    Thanks.

  • Install Adobe Premiere Elements 10 using the setup.exe in the root folder

I am trying to make an SCCM install package for PremiereElements_10_LS15_win64. I am following the directions I found here http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-element s-1.html and I am using a Win7 SP1 machine with a new NT profile that does have admin rights. The error I receive is, "Install Adobe Premiere Elements 10 using the setup.exe in the root folder."
Also, when I try to use AAMEE 2.1 I am told that when I use the containing the setup.exe and the .msi that "A valid installer could not be found."

    Hi Chris,
First of all, you will not be able to package PSE 10 using AAMEE. It needs to be packaged only using the xml method, that you tried and got the error.
So, here is want i want you to try.
    > Take a Win 7 machine with a fresh OS installation.
    > Follow the above article that you have properly i.e. create the application.xml.override.
    > Test the xml package by running the command mentioned under step 2 using the command prompt.
    Check if that works.

Check with the company that does your printing to be sure that output from PSE is ok and their file format requirement.

  • Can Photoshop Elements be used on scanned photos?

Can Photoshop Elements be used on scanned photos?

Yes. It’s also possible to scan directly into the application. In Elements 10, you may need to copy the Adobe TWAIN driver, if your scanner requires it, from the optional plug-ins folder to the Import-Export folder in the main plug-ins folder.
You will need to copy the plug-in Twain_32.8ba
    Copy from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Optional Plug-Ins\Import-Export
    Copy to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\en_US\Plug-Ins\Import-Export.
On Macintosh, copy the ImportModules folder to plug-ins.
    Copy from:
    //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 10/Support Files/Optional Plug-Ins/
    Copy to:
    //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 10/Support Files//Plug-Ins/
N.B. The app store version of Elements has a different file path.

Did you buy your machine second-hand? That's really the only way you would have to purchase OS X 10.8.x from the App Store... but, yes, if you have a USB thumb drive with a bootable installer (such as made with Lion DiskMaker) you can boot from that and reinstall OS X.

  • Animated .gif files

I have been using an older version of Photoshop Elements for a long time but just got a new MacPro and decided it's time to upgrade my PSE.  But maybe not....I downloaded the Photoshop Elements Trial version to check out if it's really worth upgrading or not and I think I'm in trouble. I have a ton of animated .gif files and they do not appear to open in the familiar "layers".  i read through some of these discussion threads and I think you're saying that if I use the current version of Photoshop Elements I will not be able to edit my old .gif files.  I did try making new layered files and save them for the web with animation and that seemed to work.  But if I'm going to lose the ability to edit my old .gif files I'm not sure I want to upgrade.
Can someone clarify this for me please.  Maybe it's just a matter of switching from Elements to CS4, but I thought from the descriptions of the programs as provided in the Products section that I fit more with the Elements program.....maybe not????
And this does not even consider that I haven't tried to load my older version on the new intel machine yet, it may not even run if I try that.
I do, for about 20% of my computing time use "that other" platform, but I don't like it, I much prefer my wonderful Mac machines.
    thanks for your help
    Leigh

Thank you for your offer, I do appreciae it.  But I think the better question to ask at this point is :  What is the last version of Photoshop Elements that supports editing animated gif files.  This is too important to me to lose this ability and after checking further I see CS4 is out of my price and needed features range. I would rather hang on to my old laptop to manipulate photos than lose the ability to edit my .gif files.
Can anybody help with this question?

  • How to edit a Animated Gif file and convert to SWF

I am using the creative cloud with fireworks. I chose the free trial with buying in mind if I saw it work properly. I simply want to upload an animated GIF file and then download it as a SWF file. I saw someone on youtube do this and it's not that if I get on the correct page I would not know how to do that but I just cannot find how to get the GIF into the software to edit. It has just simply put them in the creative cloud folder which can open them on IE> How do i make it available to edit and convert to SWF please? Thanks in advance.

You will likely get better program help in a program forum

The Cloud forum is about the Cloud as a delivery & install process

  • Animated Gif files in Captivate

I have created an animated GIF file in Photoshop that i want to use in my captivate file.
The file wont preview in any of the preview modes other than the HTML5 output preview. All other previews just show the first frame of the GIF file.
If i chose to SWAP the animation with another GIF from the library the preview shows the animation playing.. see attached
Is there something im doing wrong here.
I guess i could upload my final file to the LMS with HTML5 output as this preview shows the animation but i also read there are limitations with this output as some transitions / effects dont work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Darren

    Hi Darren,
Yes, you can verify whether your GIF would fucntion correctly on HTML5 platform by Window--HTML5 Tracker Pod.
I am not an expert on Photoshop, but still would like to make a recommendation.
Set the 'delay' value for each of your Frame to 0.01 or some value if it shows as 0, this can be done using the animation frame Window. Save it as GIF again for Web Devices and import in Captivate, see, if you are abale to preview this time.
    Thanks,
    Anjaneai
