Can Print through my Airport Express, Can't get on line tho'....

Does any one know whats wrong with my set up? (it used to work fine)
I can access the internet when I connect straight from my DSL router to my Mac and at the same time can print via my Airport and usb connection.
However when I connect my cable to the Airport I lose contact with my DSL router.
I know my Mac can see and talk to my Airport
I know my Mac can see and talk to my Router
I can't figure out why my Airport can't talk to my router
The light on the Airport is green and I have done all the re-starts advised in the Apple Help site.
I am tripping up on cables and its the 21st Century, has anyone had, and fixed this problem or do I need a new Airport Express. (mines 2 years old.)
Thanks

It sounds like you have two routers in your network configuration...the DSL router and the AirPort Express Base Station (AX). In this configuration, you will need to set up the AX as a bridge.
To set up the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) as a bridge, temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, using the AirPort Admin Utility (located in the \Applications\Utilities folder), make these settings:
Network tab
- Distribute IP addresses (unchecked)
- Apply the new setting.

  • How do I set up my printer through an airport express?

I have connected a printer via USB to my Airport Express 802.11n.  The module is responding fine and is visible on the AirPort Utility, but the printer is not showing up.  Must I have a computer connected to the module along with the printer in order to be able to print to that printer or can the printer be connected, by itself, to the module and allow me to print to it from computers on my network?

More info...  Printer is a Cannon ip6000d.  When I try to add the printer from different computers, they can not "see" the printer.  The printer does show up on my AirPort utility, but when I try to add the printer  from other computers, it can't be found.  Is there a special path for it the computers to find the printer?
Also, the light is showing green and has no errors showing in the AirPort utility.

  • I can't print wirelessly using Airport Express.  I have my HP printer connected to a USB hub, and the hub to the Airport Express, but when I select the HP from the printer list, my MacBook says the printer is "off-line" - even when it is not.

I can't print wirelessly using Airport Express.  I have my HP printer connected to a USB hub, and the hub to the Airport Express, but when I select the HP from the printer list, my MacBook says the printer is "off-line" - even when it is not.  I've tried several USB connectors, and several different ports on my USB hub; same result.  I need to have the HP connected to the hub 'cause from there it's connected to our desktop Mac.

    Hi,
I am currently replying to this as it shows in the iChat Community.
I have asked the Hosts to move it to Snow Leopard  (you should not lose contact with it through any email links you get)
I also don't do Wirelss printing so I can't actaully help either.

  • How can I print from my IPAD3 to a printer connected to Airport Express?

How can I print from my IPAD3 to a printer connected to Airport Express? I have a HP printer and I can print from all my Windows PC and iMAC in the house. How can I print from my IPaD?

    You cannot.
The USB port on the AirPort Express allow sharing a printer with Windows and Mac OS X, not with iOS:
"Wireless printing over USB requires a compatible printer and OS X v10.2.7 or later, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7":
    http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/#wireless-printing
"AirPrint-enabled printers  connected using Bluetooth or shared through a USB port of a Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule are not supported":
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
The HP ePrint app also does not provide such functionality:
Can I print from the HP ePrint mobile app using USB or Bluetooth?
No. You can only print directly to supported HP printers on a local wireless network.

  • Can i play the audio for rented movies through the airport express

I'm watching a rented iTunes movie on my Mac and would like the audio to play through my Airport express to my stereo speakers. Can't figure it out.

iTunes won't play the audio through your airport express due to the video and audio being out of sync.

  • How do I set up wireless printing to my Airport Express?

I run my 17" MBP through a DLink wireless router which is located next to my modem in my basement. I have an Airport Express station (not the Base or the Extreme) which I used to use for wireless iTunes serving to my stereo, but which I now wish to use as a wireless print server in my study upstairs. I am not, however, using the Airport Express station for internet.
I can't find any useful instructions or step-by-step guides to set up a printer on my Airport Express. Can anybody point out how to do this and/or refer me to the appropriate KB article?
    Many thanks,

Yes but they don't seem to be making it to the post to be deleted Punctuation seems to be a possible cause
If your goal is to use one network with the AE and your other router online the AE needs to be connected to the modem as the base station as the AE can only be a wireless bridge with an Airport Extreme or connect the AE via ethernet from your other router
The printing is usually as easy as plugging in the printer and selecting it from your printer list AE is a print server and I use a 4 port hub with 4 printers connected They used to be listed as Rendezvous printers but lately mine are just showing as a connected printer but is printing wirelessly
Finder > Applications >Utilities > Airport Setup and Airport Admin utilities are pretty straight forward for setting up the routers. I have had and there are still issues being reported with the AE and certain configurations. My first gen MBP1.1 could see it but not connect and my MBP2.2 connected immediately and settings on both machines were the same.

  • I want to listen to my music through my airport express but I also have a wireless internet connection!

I want to listen to my music through my airport express but I also have a wireless internet connection!
I think I might have been sold a jelly - I want to listen to my music wirelessly which is why I bought the Airport Express, but I also have a wireless internet connection - can I do both?

Do you mean to say you already have a wireless network setup and thought by buying the Airport Express you just could use it for wireless music alone?
The Airport Express is chiefly a wireless router first, with the wireless music and printing as extra's.
It can be used for streaming music alone, but I think it needs to talk to network time servers and thus it gets screwed up over time not being on the internet. Also by your using your computers wifi for music streaming, no internet with your other router.
So it's a all Airport Express or back to a stereo mini cable.

  • Printing wirelessly via Airport Express to DSL hub to ethernet printer?

This seems like a fairly standard set up.
My iBook prints just fine when cabled directly to the DSL (Verizon/Westell Versalink 327W) cabled to the ethernet printer, and connects wirelessly just fine through the Airport Express (AX) cabled to the DSL hub, but I can't print wirelessly.
    My questions are:
    - The hub IP is 192.168.1.1, and the printer is 192.168.1.10. I changed the AX IP (Airport Admin Utility: Network) from 10.0.1.1 addressing to 192.168.1.1 addressing, but that didn't do anything. Does this matter?
    - In Airport Admin Utility: Internet, the router address is 10.0.36.1. Does this matter? Should it be 192.168.1.X?
Note: In the Printer Setup Utility, when the iBook is cabled directly to the hub, the printer is automatically identified when I type in the printer IP address under HP Jet Direct Socket, as 'HP Laser Jet 4000 Series' is automatically and correctly selected. This does not happen when connected wirelessly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is that your wireless connection is creating a different subnet. To remedy this, configure the AirPort Express so that the option to distribute IP addresses is DISABLED.

  • How on earth could I be connecting to the Internet through my airport express when it is not connected to anything?

I'm not entirely displeased with the situation but I cannot see how I could be connecting to the Internet through my airport express when the Airport is not connected to anything.
    Weird huh?
I have a separate non- Airport wireless network connected to the Internet.  I had previously set-up the Airport to link with this network but disconnected it (by resetting it) as music streaming was unlistenable due to frequent drop out.  I now just have the Airport Express as a standalone wireless network only connecting to the stereo to stream music from devices.
My devices are only connected to the Airport network with cellular data off. Yet I can still connect to the Internet AND listen to streaming music (without drop-out no less).
I don't want to fix it but I would like to know how the frag it could happen so i don't screw it up accidentally.

I would say you still have something of the previous setup.
To be sure you don't mess up, save the configuration.. go to the top menu area of the airport utility and export configuration.. which will land on your computer.
Now you can recover at anytime to the current setup.
How it works.. that is magical ..
Open the airport utility.. edit.. and take a screenshot and post it of the following pages..
    Internet wireless network
THen we can tell you how it is working.

  • ITunes and playback through an Airport Express.

Here's the scoop: Had this problem big time last year. Then, it went away...
OK. Play music using iTunes through an Airport Express, through either wireless AND wired technology.
Here's what happens: 1) Play music. 2) Music stops playing. 3a) Sometimes the music starts where it left off. 3b) Sometimes the music starts a few seconds later as if it played during the outage.
OK, The bizarre bit: I've watched it do this. The clock just stops out of the clear blue. Then starts up again. Oh, the really bizarre part, and what happens more often than the earlier problem is that the clock will speed up to what would have been the correct time if it would have kept playing. Like 1---2---3____________________456789---10---11---12...
OK, this is a MAJOR stability issue in my opinion. Nearly every time this happens, the iMac is the only thing on the network. I thought in the beginning (I've got another 'question' from earlier about this same issue) that it might be overhead over the wireless network. Since the wireless network is probably (I thought) the weakest link in the system, I thought that switching to wired on a switched 100base-T network would take care of any issues with potential congestion but NO(!) the problem continues...
I can't tell you how embarassing this is when it happens infront of friends that use Windows machines exclusively. I could switch my library to a windows system that I have here but I have enough music that it almost fills my 80G ipod so it will take a L--O--N--G time to copy it over... Well, and I shudder to think what it could mean IF it works under Windoze, and not OSX.
Is this a gimme to the RIAA? Boff the playback for some reason?
    I'm ticked.
One 'genius' at the local (2 hours away) Apple Store genius bar told me to bring EVERYTHING in to the store for a week and they would play the music through iTunes and try to figure out what's going on. When I protested, they said to flash the Airport Express which I attempted but there were no updates. I ran Software Update and I had all updates. What about disk fragmentation?
The system has max memory and a 250G drive so it shouldn't be an issue, right?
It does it on every track so far. Give enough time and it happens. Well, sometimes it happens within minutes, and sometimes within hours.
Oh, after it happens, sometimes (MOST of the time) I can't play the stopped song, OR any other track no matter HOW MANY TIMES I CLICK!
This is driving me NUTS!!! HELP!!!
I have a snapshot of it actually happening and Apple doesn't seem to be at all interested... HELLO APPLE! iTunes BLOWS on my system!

I've been careful about that. We had a cordless phone that would totally blot out our 11-b network. All our cordless are now the newer type phones on the new frequency.
I also thought that by going through the fast ethernet network here that I could avoid all the issues with interference.
I'm using the ethernet port on the Airport which should bypass anything on the wireless. We have other AP's here but they are on other channels and even 11-a.
I'm running out of ideas short of putting a dedicated Mac next to the music system which would be ridiculous...
Is this a copout to the RIAA? Is it part of a DMCA thing? I guess my next question is: Is it supposed to be worthless? Is it supposed to work this way?
The reason I ask is because I've heard from many people over the years that have the same thing happen over and over again... It's hard to believe but so is so much that happens in this world... I found out that a bill supported by the MPAA and the RIAA would have obsoleted ALL CD and DVD players and drives to make a 'required' copy protection scheme work! Anything is possible... Sadly...
But this seems like an issue that Apple would want to fix for the sake of their customers?

  • Play music or youtube music! from my iPhone and iPad on my Sonos through Apple AirPort Express?

Can I play music or youtube music! from my iPhone and iPad on my Sonos through Apple AirPort Express.
I believe I can, although it is not totally clear how to do so.
Can I use an old Apple AirPort Express (1st generation) or do only the newer versions of the Apple AirPort Express do the trick ?

to transfer audio to an airport express the device needs to support airplay unless your samsung tv's manual clearly state it does support it then it don't
appletv can't get audio input into it the optical connector is output only same with the hdmi port

  • Will any non USB printer work with Airport express?

WIll any non USB based printer work with airport express?

If you have an iPad, you might want to concentrate on printers that are AirPrint compatible, so that you can print from the iPad.

  • Can't get on-line with Airport Extreem

    Hi all,
this is my first post on this forum. I have tried to set-up a wired network using Airport Extreme between a Mac Mini and a G5 1.8 Dual. I was able to see each computer over the network but I could not get internet access.
I tried the unplug every thing route but that did not help. I am hooked up to the internet through a cable modem and can get to the internet without using the Airport Extreme going straight to the ethernet connection on the back of the computers.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Todd

Well now I can get on-line on the Mac Mini (the computer used to configure the Airport Extreme) but I still can't get on-line on the G5.
