Can programs burn cpu?

Question

Hi peaople please help me
i wrote that simple method in my program
its all normal
untill i press the button which excutes this method
the fan sound like it'll fly and the cpu percentage usage raises to 100%
and it wont even excutes untill i terminate the operation from the
ctrl alt del
please help me why this is hapening
and if somebody familiar with this please tell me what can i do

In the newew Pentium Class of machines they all have 2 speed fans--idle and load, the CPU does put out more heat when you are loading it, so yes, the fan goes faster under load. I had an Oracle project that I was running and I could always tell when the process hit the calculation phase--the fan would kick into high and it sounded like the maching was going to take off. The air temperature behind the machine would raise noticebly too.
If you do not think you should be using that much CPU, then look for closed loops (infinite loops) in threads that do not have sleep conditions, they are probably "burning up" all of your available CPU power.
BTW: You don't need infinite loops to "burn CPU power", early in my career I did testing of a project and, unknown to me, I had sufficient rights on a mini (AS-400) to take over the CPU, more than 99 percent, through my testing process, I didn't think it possible, but each time someone logged off, their resources were dedicated to my process. We adjusted the rights and all was well afterward.
