Can Resource Units be shown as a column in the main project plan?

Hi
When you open the Task Summary Information screen, you have the Units field - can this field be displayed on a project plan?
We use Project for resource planning and this field is used to show what % of a resource's work day is spent on a task. It works really well, but I'd like to see "Units" displayed on the main plan.

You can add Unit field on any of the assignment view in PWA.
Server setting --> manage view --> Open Assignment view add Unit field from left panel to right click on Save.
Unit field is applicable in Assignment view only in PWA (Project Server).You can not add it in stand alone MS project Professional plan for grantt chart .
In Resource usage or Task usage you can add Assignment unit or peak filed which will give you the same result .
In MPP you can Use Peak field in resource usage view

What I mean is that I have a bout 50 minutes of video and I want to make two DVDs using different clips from this original 50 minutes of footage. It would be a real pain to have to re-import the video AGAIN for the second DVD. I suppose I could drop anything I don't want to burn to DVD back into the clips pane but that would wipe out all my transitions wouldn't it? I want to save each project in their “raw” form so I can burn additional DVDs later otherwise I would just do them one at a time and not care about one of them being destroyed.
    Wow...that was a mess. Does anyone understand what the heck I’m asking? I hope so.

    You can't. You make separate projects using the same or different clips, segments, transitions, titles, etc. You can even duplicate the first project and then modify/make the desired changes in the duplicated project. Each project can then be burned as a different DVD or as different titles on the same DVD if there is enough room.

    Siri does Not work on the iPad 2.  iOS 7 is not even out yet, so we have no way of knowing if you'll be able to upgrade to it.

  • Calling multiple sub-reports based on the values in a column in the main report

    All,
    Say, I have a main report with 4 parameters and 8 columns in it's tablix, there is 1 column in this main report that can have 3 values, say A,B,C. If the user clicks on "A", he will be directed to Subreport A, clicks on "B", he will be
    directed to Subreport B and if he clicks on "C", then he'll be taken to Subreport C. All works fine when I call subreport A and B from that column, because both of them have the 4 parameters that we can map back to the parameters of the main report
    in the "Go To Report" section.
    Now, for Subreport C, I'll need to map all those 4 parameters + I will also need to map the parameters in my Subreport C to the FIELDS in the main report. Subreport C has 8 parameters, so 4 of them get mapped to the parameters of the main report and
    the other 4 get mapped to the fields in the main report.
    Now, when I call the Subreport C from my main report, that runs fine, but, I get an error when I try to call my other subreports A and B. The error says "Parameters in the subreport are not defined", probably because it tries to map the fields
    in the main report to the non-existing parameters in mu Subreport A and B.
    Any ideas/suggestions/workarounds would help a lot. Also, if someone can point me to a link where multiple subreports are being called from the column of a main report would be a great help too.

    One simple solution would be to add the additional 4 parameters to subreports A and B. Just don't use them.
    I assume you are calling the subrebort using Go to report action property of the tablix cell control. Try switching to Go to URL. Then use expression builder to dynamically create your url:

    Now this is a rather long formula which is why I prefer just adding the other 4 parameters to all of the subreports but this expression opens the report from the url and only when Column1 field is "C" does it also pass the additional 4 parameters.

    Perhaps my understanding of a subreport is incorrect as this is the first time I've used one, but it seems to me that the subreport should be able to use the values from the main report record in its (the subreport's) operations-but my subreport doesn't seem to be working that way.In my main report, I select a set of records from a 'request' table. I have a subreport in the detail section so the subreport is processed for each of the request records. That works, but I'm simply getting the same data reported multiple times. It's as if the subreport only uses the last request record rather than the current one. Stating it this way I can see that the problem might be evaluation time-it's processing the request records first, then processing the subreport, and only then printing everything. If this is correct then putting WhilePrintingRecords on the subreport should work-but the only way I know of to do that is in a formula. Can I call the subreport from a formula? Or am I totally off-track?Thanks.

    Have you established a link(s) between your main report and subreport?When viewing the main report, click edit --> subreport links and link the 2 based on whatever values from the main report you want.

    Here's the script I use. Notice the complications getting the live area when other than rulers per spread is employed. The script automatically selects the final selection point in the story and moves to that page in the active window.

    I've tried to use a formula columns defined in some query in the condition of that query like this:
    where (:cf_ex - :cf_ex2) >= 5
    but when I run the report no data returned! Why? and how to use it the condition of the query?

    where (:cf_ex - :cf_ex2) >= 5You cannot do that. Formula columns are not part of the select statement (which runs in the database), but are processed in the report.
    When you created this query, my guess is that you got the message "Note: the query Q1 has created the bind parameter(s) cf_ex, cf_ex2". Check these User Parameters in your data model. So, you are actually referencing user parameters in the query, not formula columns.
    I made a computations and things using PL/SQL that can't be done in the select statement in the data model!If it's pl/sql you can probably use that in your query. Create some database functions for cf_ex and cf_ex2 and use these in your query.

  • How can you open a project file backup if the main project won't load?

    This has only started happening in the last couple of weeks. I'm on Logic 10.0.7, OSX 10.8.5. On one particular project, it will be loading seemingly normally, then it just disappears with no crash log, nothing.
    Presumably there is some sort of corruption in the project file.
    In the old pre package days, you would just go to the project file backups folder and pick a previous one. Bingo, you have only lost a little bit of work.
    Now when I show package contents, the project file backups folder has project data files that won't open logic, and are invisible until you have logic open. Which I can't do.
    Rue the day I selected the package option rather than folder.
    Any suggestions?
    Or to put the question another way, how can I convert the project data in the project file backups folder to a file that Logic can recognise and open?

    Having his install the trial is the way to go. Working between AI versions is a pain and as you are finding out almost impossible with 5 versions between the collaborators.

  • How can I delete an item from the main left column of iTunes?

    I'd like to delete an item from the main left hand column in iTunes (the column containing the main headings LIBRARY, STORE, SHARED, PLAYLISTS etc etc). Under the first heading 'LIBRARY' appear the items Library, Music, Movies, iTunes U, Books, Apps and Ringtones. I'd like to remove the item "Library" from that list - it appears immediately after the heading "LIBRARY" and serves no purpose whatsoever. (Neither does it appear to cause any harm, I must say, just a nuisance.) This item does not appear in any of the iTunes viewing options or controls lists. Neither does it appear in iTunes in the other accounts on my Mac and I have yet to see it any other iTunes on any other Mac.
    I've upgraded since about iTunes 8 assuming the problem would eventually disappear through the upgrades but it hasn’t, even through all the providedupgrade increments available for iTunes.
    I'm assuming it's from something I've installed in my main user account at some stage and it entered this item in the iTunes app. But I can't see how to remove it. The only things I can remember installing are "iTunes Batch Column Renamer" and "Join Together", both if which are just Scripts and which I use fairly regularly, but I don't recall either of them installing that particular item.
    Is there any folder I can navigate to to edit the list of items in that main left hand column of iTunes?

    on second thought, that you have an item "library" is indeed odd - there shouldn't be.
    suggest you try removing iTunes completely (click here and follow the instructions), then reinstall it using the standalone installer from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
    note this will not do anything to your media files, playlists, ratings, etc.
    btw, you didn't install any 3rd party tools like this script:

    As in if my Cluster node (node-1) has IP Address, say 172.23.28.218, then can I configure a Resource Group with the same IP Address, i.e. 172.23.28.218?

    Short answer - no. The physical nodes have IP addresses which are fixed and unique. A RG group can have 0 or more logical hosts (IP addresses) associated with it, one per subnet, that are also unique.

  • Can a Column in a Project Plan be set to Read Only for everyone except Admins

    At my company the Project Server Admins create the initial project plans.  We want to add a new column that will designate each task in the plan as Capital or Operational.  We do not want anyone to have the ability to change these.
    When the Project Managers need additional tasks on their plans they will need to copy an existing one in order to have this piece of information pre-populated on their new tasks, since we do not want them deciding what the task should be themselves and populating
    the field as they create tasks.

    In addition to Dale's excellent answer, I'd mention that it is possible to make a column "read-only" for certain security groups in MS Project Pro with VBA code. 
    That being said, I'd suggest to follow Dale's advice using a "soft" solution.

    Apologies if this is not the right forum, but I have a request to add an extra column into the main overview screen in VA01/VA02/VA03. The field I want to add is available from the Sales Header Data > Purchase Order Data tab (Ship-to party > Your Reference field. VBKD-IHREZ_E).
    Normally from the Sales Overview, I would go to Configure Table Settings > Administrator and then tick/untick the fields i want to display, but in this case, this partficular field is not available from the list of fields to choose from (although other fields on the Purchase Order Data tab are available to be included/excluded from the main Sales Order Overview).
    Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can get this field included as a selection field, and therefore have it as a column in the main Overview table?
