Can source and gate used to measure 2 signals using one counter?

I have one PCI 6602 card to measure measure the frequency. PCI 6602 has 10 channels, in which channel 5 and 10 doesn't have 'source' terminal.
We have to measure frequency from 16 signals using one PCI 6602.
From channel 1 to 4 and 6 to 9, we have 8 'Gate' and 8 'Source' terminals.
We have connected 16 signals to these 16 terminals.
At any given point of the time we want to measure either 'Gate' signals(8) or 'Source' signals(8).
Can any provide any guidance to make a program in labview to measure frequency (period) as per above given points?

Hello Vijay,
It takes one counter for each digital frequency you want to measure and the PCI-6602 has 8 counters total. This means that the maximum number of digital frequencies you can measure is 8. If you want to measure 16 frequencies you'll need 16 counters.
Single counter frequency measurements are made by comparing the board's time base (80 MHz) to an external frequency. The board counts the number of time base periods that occur during one period of your incoming frequency. When you configure the board to take a single counter frequency measurement the card routes the time base to the source of the counter and then you connect the frequency you want to measure to the gate of the counter.

There are example programs available in the LabVIEW example finder. You can locate these by going to Help>> Find Examples... The examples you want is: Hardware Input and Output>> DAQmx>> Counter Measurements>> Digital Frequency>> Measure Digital Frequency- Low Freq 1 Ctr.vi.
I hope this explains how counters work and why you need one counter per measurement.

Assuming you do not have access to the "original" video/project and the YouTube video is the only copy, there is a method. Try "YouTube Downloader" which is a free software that allows you to download clips from YouTube as .mp4 files. You can then edit with Premiere, and re-encode again for upload to YouTube. Just keep in mind that you are re-compressing the video so there will be some quality loss. The better the quality of the original, the better the copy will hold up.

this example receives frames on the same port. By CAN design you cannot receive the frame you are transmitting. If you want to receive what you transmit in addition there are 2 options:
- use the second port of your CAN device for Receiving the frames you transmit
- use the Self Receiption mode (refer to the manual for further details ho w to use this mode)

How can I output frequency readings of my signals using FFT?

Hi there, I need help in regard to the topic stated.
Currently I have accquired a sine wave with frequency that vary, using one of the accquistion card by NI. I had converted it to a digital signal so that labview can read it. Now, I will like labview to output the measurement of the frequency.
For example : sine wave of 5KHZ is accquire , labview will use FFT to convert time domain to frequency domain, and then output the frequency of the sine wave, in the case, 5KHZ.
What function block should I be using? I had explored the function blocks of all FFT. Most of them output either real FFT, complex FFT, magniture or phase. But none of them output the reading of the frequency.
Maybe I had missed out some function block, so how do I go about output a frequency reading after using FFT?

After Converting your signal from time domain to frequency domain, u cant expect there is only one frequency component,they should have different frequency components according to your input signal.Use extract single tone information to get the output reading of the frequency.

Can source and target tables be the same

Hi there,
I need to restate profit center column in the delivery fact table. Historical Profit Centers need to be populated since today is the first time we brought in Profit Center field from LIPS table. The source for the delivery fact table is SAP LIPS table. so what I did is:
joined the LIPS and delivery fact table on (LIPS.delivery number = deliveryfacttable.delivery number & LIPS.delivery line item number = deliveryfacttable.delivery line item number) to get the profit center.
So the source and the target delivery fact table are the same. Is this a good practice becuase Data services warns me that the source and target tables are the same.
Please let me know a better alternative approach to this OR a better approach to restate fields for historical data. Thanks in advance.

actually the LIPS resides on another server and in order to fetch data I have to write an R3 ABAP data flow, so I cant use it directly in a lookup.
Except what Im thinking based on your reply to use a lookup table is: that I will extract 3 colums (delivery number, delivery line item number and profit center) to a table and then use the lookup.

Yeah...I've worked out an alternative, but it would be very nice if there was a feature like what I'm talking about. Basically, a start and end memory location that is multi configurable to whatever you want. It can loop, or just go back to the start location and stop. And every press of rewind takes you to the start.
I've come up with the key command, go to left locator or right locator, and don't enable cycle mode.

Can swipe and pinch to zoom functionality be used in creating an interactive pdf through indesign?

A client is telling me that there is a way to add these functionalities to an existing indesign file but I cannot figure out how. They would like to have the exact same features that an iBook has, but on a standalone pdf. Is this possible through indesign, or do I need a 3rd party software? I did manage to speak to a company that does this, and all they told me was that they take the indesign file, which is a horizontal layout of a book, and add the swipe and zoom functionality that exactly mimics those of ibooks.

Measure rpm and PWM signals using digital input of NI9401 module

Hi, is there a simple way how measure rpm (to 5000 rpm) and PWM (about f=3kHz) signals using digital input of NI9401 (ultrahigh-speed digital I/O) module plugged in NI 9172 ? Hi CUA,
Since you have already the right tools, you just need to get started with the software. The NI-9401 will give you access to the counters that are inside the cDAQ chassis 9172.
You need to place the module in slots 5 or 6. You can read in how they work and how to configure them in the counters section of the user guide found here.
Now to measure rpm, you can either measure the period of the signal (seconds) and multiply by 60 to have minutes and the number of ticks per revolution. You can find a shipped example to read period called “Meas Dig Freq-Buffered-Cont-Large Range 2 Ctr.vi” found under Hardware Input and Output » DAQmx » Counter Mesurements
To measure PWM, it is similar procedure and you can read the semiperiod (high time or low time). There is also a shipped example called “Meas Semi-Period.vi” found under the same location.
There is great information for these kind of task at this page or just post back if you need to.

6602 on Traditional DAQ : can't assign gate(0) to source input of counter (0)?

We are replacing a system that used PC-TIO-10 boards with 6602 boards.
In an attempt to minimize system changes, the new system has been wired
identically to the old system, which used the gate lines to count by
opening the gate on the rising edge of the gate line and counted on the
falling edge.
Apparently, we are prevented from using the gate line as source to a
counter. It is confusing enough that the manual says each of the fourty
counter I/O lines can be assigned to any of the counters and any of the
counter functional inputs: I still don't know if this is true or if it
is an improper interpretation of the manual.
Additionally, using DAQ 7.4, we are specifically limted to using source(x) lines as source inputs to the counters.
a) Is it really not possible to connect a gate() line to the source input of the same counter?
b) If so, is it possible to connect the gate(x) input to the source
input of counter(x+1) or (x-1) without affecting counter (x), which is
how it appears in the VI's?
c) If worse comes to worse, we are driving the gate inputs with the
output of an MC14490 hex contact bounce eliminator. Can we tie the gate
and source inputs to a single counter together, and in software set the
source as input and set gate on, and count events that way?
and I guess,
d) we're hopelessly crazy and misinformed, and have to remake the
interface boards and/or completely rewrite the software to use DAQmx?

I don't understand the function you were accomplishing. What do mean by "opening the gate" on the rising edge?

No, the assignments are not that flexible. However, you certainly can assign any counter's default source pin to be used as a source by any other counter's task (or by several tasks at once). There are a few other special-case assignments, but for the most part they are flexible within their own category. Any source pin can be the source for any counter, any gate pin can be the gate for any counter, etc.

a) I'm not at hw now and can't recall for sure about using a counter's own gate signal as a source. See b).
b) I'm pretty sure a counter can use as its source the gate signal from its paired counter (x+1 or x-1).
c) Um, it isn't clear to me why you need both source and gate connected this way if you are just counting events.

I don't think so. If the PC-TIO-10 was just performing event (edge) counting, then you shouldn't need to worry about the gate inputs on the 6602. The new counters can simply count source edges without regard to a gate input.
Can you describe how the source and gate inputs were used to accomplish the measurement you needed on the PC-TIO-10? It's been a long time since I used one and I only ever used it for period measurement...

HPCM custom driver use source and destination

I'm using HPCM 12.1.2, I need your help to create one custom driver that uses information from source and destination. I need to use 1 dimension of source and 2 of destination.
I have the situation bellow:
STAGE1 (SOURCE)
Dim1 Machine
Dim2 Account
STAGE2 (DESTINATION)
Dim1 Process
Dim2 Operation
Dim 3 Account
Measure: Time used in the Machine
The infromation is extracted:
Machine1 - Process1 - Operation1 = 10 Hours
Machine1 - Process1 - Operation2 = 9 Hours
Machine2 - Process1 - Operation1 = 13 Hours
How can I create one Driver that I could use these informations? It is possible?

Hi Alex,
You have to increase the Max Row size limit in Xcelsius.
Goto >> File menu >> Preferences >> Increase the "Max Row Sixe" by default it will be 500 you can increase it as per the requirement.

Can't Drag and Drop with a Double Tap using Single Finger in Lion?

I installed the Mac OS X Lion two days. But I can't drag and drop with a Double tap using Single Finger, which I used to do in Snow Leopard.
If I choose Three Finger Move, then Swap Between Pages goes back to "Scroll left or right with Two Fingers" that only works with Safari, but doesn't work with Chrome or Firefox.
I tried literally every setting in Trackpad and also checked if there was a override settings and there is no overrride setting.
Would be thankful, if you guys could suggest me what to do?

SQL Server Source and Flat File Target in OWB

I have a question, is it possible to have SQL Server as Source and Flat File as Target without using any intermediate Oracle table(s).
like
SQL Server --> ETL Operators --> Flat file?
as i m getting errors in data type conversions here. but if i replace flat file with Oracle table it works fine. (though i have used some conversion functions for data types as well in Flat file loading but it is giving me errors)

Yes this should be fine. Are you using the gateway to access SQLServer or code template mappings? You need to track which columns are throwing the data type conversion errors.

How to free rotate an area that has been measured using the measurement tool.

I've measured and area using the measurement tool on one pdf drawing and now want to copy and paste it in to another pdf drawing and rotate it in to position. Is this possible?

Object>Expand Appearance. Then proceed to Ungroup, release clipping paths, etc., to further dissect it. Exact steps will depend upon the specific artwork.
