Can SQL*Loader Insert concatenated string into table

Hi All,
I want to insert a column, whose format is "abc" + to_char(sysdate,'YYYYMMDD'), into temp table. How can I do it? Thank you in advance.
Best Regards,
Sheng

Hi Lukasz,
Thank you for your help! The "abc" is a constant string, it isn't a column. And I use concat function to solve the problem. like this
LOAD DATA
INFILE data.txt
INTO TABLE tmp_table
fields terminated by "," optionally enclosed by '"'
( c1 "concat('abc',TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'YYYYMMDD'))"

    ==================================================================
    SQL*LOADER(8I) VARIABLE SIZE FIELD를 여러 TABLE에 LOAD하기 (FILLER)
    ==================================================================
    PURPOSE
    SQL*LOADER 에서 variable length record와 variable size field를 가진 data
    file 을 여러 table에 load하는 방법을 소개하고자 한다.
    ( 8i new feature인 FILLER 절 사용)
    Explanation
    SQL*LOADER SYNTAX
    여러 table에 load하고자 할때에는 control file에 아래와 같이 하면 된다.
    INTO TABLE emp
    INTO TABLE emp1
    fixed length field을 가진 data file을 여러 table에 같은 data을 load하고자
    한다면 아래와 같다.
    INTO TABLE emp
    (empno POSITION(1:4) INTEGER EXTERNAL,
    INTO TABLE emp1
    (empno POSITION(1:4) INTEGER EXTERNAL,
    위와 같이 양쪽 table의 empno field에 각각의 load할 data로부터 1-4까지를
    load 할수 있다. 그러나 field의 길이가 가변적이라면 위와 같이 POSITION 절을
    각 field에 사용할 수 없다.
    Example
    예제 1>
    create table one (
    field_1 varchar2(20),
    field_2 varchar2(20),
    empno varchar(10) );
    create table two (
    field_3 varchar2(20),
    empno varchar(10) );
    load할 record가 comma로 나누어지며 길이가 가변적이라고 가정하자.
    << data.txt >> - load할 data file
    "this is field 1","this is field 2",12345678,"this is field 4"
    << test.ctl >> - control file
    load data infile 'data.txt'
    discardfile 'discard.txt'

    replace
    fields terminated by ","
    optionally enclosed by '"' (
    field_1,

    replace
    fields terminated by ","
    optionally enclosed by '"' (
    field_3,
    dummy1 filler position(1),
    dummy2 filler,
    empno )
    dummy1 field는 filler로 선언되었다. filler로 선언하면 table에 load하지 않는다.
    two라는 table에는 dummy1이라는 field는 없으며 position(1)은 current record의
    처음부터 시작해서 첫번째 field을 dummy1 filler item에 load한다는 것을 말한다.
    그리고 두번째 field을 dummy2 filler item에 load한다. 세번째 field인, one이라는
    table에 load되었던 employee number는 two라는 table에도 load되는 것이다,

  • How can I load an external SWF into a movie clip that's inside other movie clip?

    Hi.
    I creating my first flash (actionscript 3.0) website but I'm
    stuck with a visual effect I want to create.
    I have a window on my website called contentWindow. Every
    time you click a button this window is supposed to leave the stage,
    load the requested content and return to the stage.
    The sliding window is a movie clip with 83 frames, 21 to
    enter the stage, 21 to leave the stage again, 20 for nothing (its
    just to simulate the loading time) and 21 to return to the stage.
    Now my goal is, when the user clicks on a navigation button,
    the window exits the stage, loads an external SWF with the content,
    and then returns to the stage.
    I've the "window" movie clip with an instance name of
    "contentWindow". Inside there is another movie clip with an
    instance name of "contentLoader". The content that the user
    requested should appear inside the "contentLoader".
    Now, when the contentWindow leaves the stage, I get this
    error message:
    quote:
    TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of
    a null object reference.
    at rwd_fla::MainTimeline/trigger()
    If I switch
    "contentWindow.contentLoader.addChild(navLoader);" for
    "contentWindow.addChild(navLoader);" it works fine, but the
    external SWF doesn't move with the window.
    How can I load an external SWF into a movie clip that's
    inside other movie clip?

    Hi,
    Recently, I have been putting together a flash presentation.
    And I am just wondering if the following might help you, in your
    communication with the said swf file:
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,
    onComplete);
    function onComplete(event:Event):void
    event.target.content.thinggy_mc.y -= 100;
    Not the best example, but this allows you to target a mc
    within an external swf file. I think if you look up this code, you
    will have an answer ;)
    Kind Regards,

  • Loading this xml data into tables

    Hello,
    I am having a problem loading this XML file into tables. The xml file structure is

    <ASSEMBLY>
    </ASSEMBLY> Assembly gets repeated a number of times.
    </INSTANCE>
    </ACCESSION>
    </FILE>
    I created a table which has the structure:
    create table accession(
    accession_id varchar2(20),
    Instance instance_type);
    create or replace type instance_type as object
    (method varchar2(20),
    class varchar2(20),
    source varchar2(20),
    num_char number(10),
    variation variation_type,
    assembly assembly_type)
    create or replace type variation_type as object
    (value varchar2(2),
    count number(10),
    frequency number(10),
    pop_id varchar2(10)
    Created a similiar type for assembly.
    When I load it, I could only store the first variation data but not the subsequent ones. Similarly for assembly I could only store the first data but not the subsequent ones.
    Could anyone let me know how I could store this data into tables? I have also included a sample XML file in this message.

  • How can i load a 8cm dvd into my drive ??

    Hi
    I am i being a little thick .... I have a sony handycam and it has 8cm dvd that i record onto.
    How can i load these dvd's into my macbook pro, notebook ??
    Please help
    Many thanks
    Michelle

    You can't. The MBP's slot-loading optical drive doesn't support nonstandard-sized discs at all.
    If the camcorder has a USB or FireWire output, you may be able to use that to transfer videos from it to the computer. Alternatives include buying a tray-loading external optical drive that can handle the oddball discs, or transferring the videos to a computer that has an internal tray-loader, then transferring them to the Mac from the other computer wirelessly, via a USB flash drive or external hard drive, or via a burned standard-sized disc.

  • How can we tell if SQL*Loader is working on a TABLE?

    We have a process that requires comparing batches with LDAP information. Instead of using an LDAP lookup tool, we get a nightly directory file, and import the two COLUMNs we want via SQL*Loader (REPLACE) into an IOT. Out of three cases, two just check the first COLUMN, and the third needs the second COLUMN as well.
    We did not think of using External TABLEs, because we cannot store files on the DB server itself.
    The question arises, what to do while the file is being imported. The file is just under 300M, so it takes a minute or so to replace all the data. We found SQL*Loader waits until a transaction is finished before starting, but a query against the TABLE only waits while it is actually importing the data. At the beginning of SQL*Loader's process, however, a query against the TABLE returns no rows.
    The solution we are trying right now is, to have the process that starts SQL*Loader flip a flag in another TABLE denoting that it is unavailable. When it is done, it flips it back, and notes the date. Then, the process that queries the information, exits if the flag is currently 'N'.
    The problem, is, what if SQL*Loader starts inbetween the check of the flag, and the query against the TABLE. How do we guarantee that it is still not being imported.
    I can think of three solutions:
    1) LOCK the ldap information TABLE before checking the flag.
    2) LOCK the record that the process starting SQL*Loader flips.
    3) Add a clause to the query against the TABLE checks that there are records in the TABLE (AND EXISTS(SELECT * FROM ldap_information).
    The problem with 3) is that the process has already tagged the batches (via a COLUMN). It could, technically reset them afterwards, but that seems a bit backwards.

    Just out of curiosity, are you aware that Oracle supplies a DBMS_LDAP package for pulling information from LDAP sources? It would obviously be relatively easy to have a single transaction that deletes the existing data, loads the new data via DBMS_LDAP, and commits, which would get around the problem you're having with SQL*Loader truncating the table.
    You could also have SQL*Loader load the data into a staging table and then have a second process either MERGE the changes from the staging table into the real table (again in a transactionally consistent manner) or just delete and insert the data.

  • SQL Loader Inserting Log File Statistics to a table

    Hello.
    I'm contemplating how to approach gathering the statistics from the SQL Loader log file to insert them into a table. I've approached this from a Korn Shell Script perspective previously, but now that I'm working in a Windows environment and my peers aren't keen about batch files and scripting I thought I'd attempt to use SQL Loader itself to read the log file and insert one or more records into a table that tracks data uploads. Has anyone created a control file that accomplishes this?
    My current environment:
    Windows 2003 Server
    SQL*Loader: Release 10.2.0.1.0
    Thanks,
    Luke

    );Now, if I could only insert a single record to the upload_log table (per table logged); adding separate columns for skipped, read, rejected, discarded quantities. Any advice on how to use SQL Loader to do this (writing a procedure would be fairly simple, but I'd like to perform all of the work in one place if at all possible)?
    Thanks,
    Luke

  • SQL Loader inserting string

    Hi,
    I have recently started using SQL loader and have got a request which i need help in order to do :-
    Lets say there is an excel file with data to be loaded into 'test' table. the data looks like this
    customer_id   customer_location
    +1 new york+
    +2 new jersey+
    +3 california+
    My table Test looks like :-
    create table test(customer_id number, customer_name varchar2(4000),customer_location varchar2(200));
    now my requirement is that i need to write a control file which populates customer_name field with text 'test_user' for every row in data file.
    So the final data should look like this :-
    select * from test;
    customer_id   customer_name   customer_location
    +1 test_user new york+
    +2 test_user new jersey+
    +3 test_user california+
    i am using direct load. Please help me in making control file. i just want to know the logic for populating columns that are not present in excel file.
    Thanks in advance.

    SQL*Loader supports constants. Read Setting a Column to a Constant Value
