CAN: Standard and Extended Frames/Wake up nodes

Hello, my name is Gerardo Palmeri . I need ask you questions about CAN BUS and USB-8473.
I´m programming an application in wich I´ll abble to meassure Voltages, currents and CAN BUS codes from a NODE into Steering Wheel of Truck.
The NODE is "sleeping" and i need wake up it. At the moment I can´t do it.
The system use Extended frames (29 bits) and I made the next Net Topology to find out the problem:
Node A (CAN 1): USB-8473 write msg in the net.
Node B (CAN 0): USB-8473 listen the bus activity.
Node C (ID: C012171): Node into the steering wheel. (Target) Note that C012171 is an extended address (frame)
I use 2 tools to manage the bus activity:
transmit: I use CAN_Transmit.vi (from examples library) to send messages
Receive: NI CAN BusMonitor from "Measurement and automation explorer" to read messages from de bus.
When I write a message to ID: C012171, NI CAN BusMonitor listen it and show me correctly the data but the ID =171 (with out C012, the system ignore the most significant part of the ID). NI CAN BUS Monitor indicates are receiving Standard Frames.
1. Do Someone know why the ID is truncated?
2. Could have a mistake in the Extended Comparator and Extended mask selected? I defined 0 for both.
Thanks for your atention!!!! I´ll expect for your answer.

Hi!! Yes, you´re rigth!!...i just wired the CAN ID to a pin of an OR instruction and in the other pin I conected x20000000. This means that the 29th bit is one and the write can instruction is able to write data to devices with extended Frames.
Thanks for your help and keep in touch!!!

  • Standard and Extended ACLs?

I just want to know that if extended IP access lists can do all tasks, I mean extended access lists have a lot of controlling parameters, then why people use Standard Access lists instead of Extended access lists.
I just want to know that in which scenario we should use STD ACLs instead of EXTD ACLs, what special advantage of using STD over EXTD ACLs,
    Please reply.

    Posting
To summarize what the other posters have already noted, the two principle reasons why one might use a standard ACL (which could also be functionally accomplished) by an extended ACL are 1) some commands that rely on ACLs might still only support standard ACLs (more likely in older IOS versions) and 2) a standard ACL might be just a little clearer to understand.
Another (hopefully needless) reason why you might want to use a standard ACL, when an extended ACL would do, could be the device's processing performance might be better with a standard ACL.
    Logically the standard ACL ACE:
    access-list 10 permit host 1.1.1.1
should be the same as this extended ACL ACE:
    permit ip host 1.1.1.1 any
But a "dumb" implementation of processing the extended ACL might wildcard compare the destination IP and other optional parameters while the standard ACL only examines the source IP.  Should this happen?  No, but such might happen because of different generations of code and/or different teams working on ACL processing.
BTW, if there is a significant performance difference, it's just as possible extended works better.
Again, this is very extreme and unlikely, but this could be a reason to use one form of ACL vs. the other when both can provide the same filtering.  (Also, if this is "discovered", it's very likely to be very device and IOS version specific.  Personally I would consider taking "advantage" of such a discovery poor practice, except in extreme situations.)

  • Classic and Extended Withholding tax

    Hi,
Can anybody explain me what is the differance between classic and extended withholding tax.
    Rds,
    javed

    Hi
    Text from SAP documentation
SAP provides you with two procedures for processing withholding tax:
    "Standard" and extended withholding tax.
"Standard" withholding tax is the procedure that has always been supported by the system. It offers you the following features:
    Withholding tax for accounts payable
    Withholding tax calculation during payment
Withholding tax code per vendor line item
Extended withholding tax provides the following additional features:
Multiple withholding taxes per customer or vendor line item
Withholding tax calculation for partial payments
    Thank You,

  • I currently have Photoshop CS5 standard, and want to updgrade to CS5 Extended to get the 3D capabilities.  Is this possible, I don't see any CS5 upgrades available?

I currently have Photoshop CS5 standard, and want to upgrade to CS5 Extended to get the 3D capabilities.  Is this possible, I don't see any CS5 upgrades available?  I tried to download a new trial version as well, but my current operating system will not support it, so I'd like to stick w/ a version of CS5 that will allow me to work in 3D.  What are my options?

You can upgrade to CS6 extended for $400

  • Can I upgrade Photoshop CS6 from standard to extended without reinstalling?

    Hello,
I have Photoshop CS6 Standard already installed on my Mac (OS 10.8). My employer has just purchased the extended version for me and I would like to upgrade. I have a valid serial number to do this.
I understand that the software is the same and depending on the serial number it can unlock the extended portion of CS6. Is there any way of upgrading the installed version to extended by re-intering the new serial number or should I just install a second copy of PS CS6 and have 2 PS CS6 (one standard and one extended)?
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Please follow the below mentioned steps:
    Open Photoshop
    Choose Help > Deactivate
Select Deactivate Permanently from this computer after deactivation completes
    Click Deactivate.
Reopen Photoshop. You are prompted for a serial number. Enter the Extended serial number.

  • Creating WDS for a/b/g AND extended 'n' network..can I do both???

I have finally been able to get my Airport Extreme-n and Airport Express-n setup as a WDS since all of my wireless nodes currently only support a/b/g and i needed to boost my signal in the house. It took quite some time to setup just right, after using this forum, and trail+error / docs. I ended up turning off the 'n' protocol, but maybe did not need too. Now I simply have a 2.4 WDS wireless network established and extended via the AP Express and so far so good.
I see an AppleTV in my future and I will want and need to re-establish the 'n' 5.0 Ghz network and may need to extend the N via my Airport Express too. So, can I do both??? Continue to have the WDS with the APexpress acting as the remote and turn back on the 5.0 ghz network and extend the n to my Express? My only stipulation is that this would be WIRELESSLY extending, not using the AP express ethernet port to connect to my extreme's ethernet port.
I was hoping switching to "802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)” and then enabling the extending feature on both the extreme express would wirelessly extend the .n network, while I can keep the WDS configuration to 'extend' by non-n wireless devices.
Since I have an iMac with n-device, I presume I could try this as a test as well???

Hi Bob, my current configuration is using the WDS option; I have the latest versions of the Dual-band AP Extreme and latest AP Express hardward. I was told that since I had a/b/g nodes, that the only option I had was to create a WDS and have both Airport devices participate in that configuration. I was told specifically in other posts that I could not utilize the "extend a wireless network" feature since this is exclusively for .N devices only and since I have a mixed bag of devices, I had to use the 'Participate in a WDS' configuration.
I did try to use the "extend a wireless" configuration and this would not work well at all. I just dont see getting rid of my a/b/g devices anytime soon.
Should I turn on dual-band N for my Airport Extreme, but not use the "extend a wireless" feature and hope that the 5gzh signal is strong enough to connect to future .N nodes as I obtain them?
    Kind regards,
    Rob

  • About a year ago I purchased the student addition of the Adobe Creative suite 6 Design Standard and just recently purchased an additional computer for my home. Can I use the same disc that I previously purchased to download the program?

About a year ago I purchased the student addition of the Adobe Creative suite 6 Design Standard and just recently purchased an additional computer for my home. Can I use the same disc that I previously purchased to download the program?

Yes, as long as the machine meets the system requirements for the software you can install and activate it.  Your license allows you to have the software installed and activated on two machines.

  • Can only see first and last frame of clip in the timeline HELP PLEASE

Hi, my first time and I did look for an answer, but can't find one. I have premiere elements 4 and I am trying out ver. 9. In ver. 4 the clips in the timelin shows all the frames, but in ver. 9 it only shows the first and last frame of the clips. Is there any way to make all the frames show. By "all the frames", I mean the clips fill with frames.I liked to see all the frames in the timeline, it is easier for me to select and trim the bits out.
My specs are Core 2 Duo 6750, Nvidia 8600GTS, 4G Ram, Vista Home Premium. 3 HDD 3TB.
    Thank you for answering
    Werner

As for the GUI, PrE had one more like PrPro (the early versions), up through PrE 3. With PrE 4, they streamlined the GUI (and some of the operation), and went with the "dark look." PrPro went in that direction starting with CS3, and now, the two programs' GUI looks more alike - darker. Personally, I like PrPro 2.0's brighter GUI. Now, one can alter the brightness, but the contrast can work against doing much of that - give me the lighter GUI....
The look of PrE 4 thru PrE 9 is very similar, though things have moved about some. Still the look is similar. Same for PrPro CS 3 through CS 5.5.
As for the trial, things have changed in PrPro, as of CS 5.5. Once, the PrPro trial was very crippled, but had no watermark. No more. No crippling, and still no watermark. The trial for PrE is far less crippled, but does have the watermark. We do not know what changes might be coming with the trial of PrE10. We will just have to wait and see. One great option that Adobe offers is the 30-day, money-back guarantee. If you buy Premiere (either flavor), and use it for 29 days, but do not like it, then you return it for your money back. This is the full-paid version (both flavors) with nothing crippled, and no watermark. Not that many companies make such an offer. Basically, on can use the trial for 30 days, to see some of the powers of the program, and then buy it, and try it fully for another 29 days. If not completely satisfied, they get their money back - essentially a 59 day trial.
Were I doing AVCHD, I would definitely look at buying PrE 9, and giving it a 29 day shakedown. The only caveat is that AVCHD requires a lot of computer "horsepower," and not all computers (especially if more than a year, or so old) are up to that task. I find it amazing that a consumer format, like AVCHD, requires more computer power to process, than most professional formats, until one gets up to, say RED 2K/4K. However, that is the nature of the H.264 CODEC, and by that, I mean all H.264, not just the AVCHD version.
    Good luck and happy editing,
    Hunt

  • Can I take a frame from my project and use it as a custom menu background with CS4 and its Encore

My project is edited in CS4.
I moved it to Encore CS4.
I don't want to use any of the supplied menu templates in CS4 Encore.
I was hoping CS4 would be all I needed to create custom menus using scenes from my project.
My question is: Can I take a frame from my project and use it as a custom menu background with CS4 and its built in Encore or do I need some other element from the Adobe catalog to make these custom chapter menus and sub-menus?
    Thanks Jim

OK, I'm back. Here are my steps for creating Custom Menus with PS, En and PrPro:
In PrPro, move the CTI (Current Time Indicator) to the desired Frame. Check Frames on either side, with the Program Monitor’s Magnification to 100%, or maybe even 200% (you’ll need to scroll, but get a really clear picture). You want the clearest Frame in that area. With AME, in CS4, you’ll want to Export that Frame as .TIFF, or .BMP. I use .TIFF for this.
Now, for a caveat. When you Import this Exported Frame into Photoshop, be sure to check the specs., especially the PAR. You may have to use Image>PAR to adjust this to match your Project’s specs. Or, all might be perfect - just check this out.
Now, at this point, I choose the Library Menu, Blank, so that everything is setup. One can create the Menu from scratch, but careful attention needs to be paid to the exact naming conventions. At the very least, unless you’ve done this dozens of times before, use that Blank Menu, or similar as a guide, so you get things done, as they must be done.
Using that Blank Menu, just drag the Layer from your Exported Frame to your Menu image. It will appear above the black Background.
Add, or manipulate your Button Layer Sets, as is required, keeping them together. Remember that Button #1 will be the Button Layer Set, that is lower down in the Layers Palette. This can play a roll with Button Routing, back in Encore. Lower Button Layer Sets will have lower Button numbers.
Now, I always rename my Button Layer Sets, keeping the required characters - just changing the name. I also do all of my Button text in PS, and make sure to turn OFF Sync Button Names.
When done, Save_As .PSD, and then Import_As_Menu into Encore. Note: if you start with the Blank Menu, you can choose Edit in Photoshop, and then when done in PS, you just need to Save, and it will update in Encore. This is a personal workflow choice. I do the Edit in Photoshop route, but it is not necessary. One just needs to Import the resulting .PSD into Encore with Import_As_Menu, so that Encore does all the things that it needs to and recognizes the .PSD as a Menu.
When deciding what to base your Menu on, remember that you can "populate" your Menu with Buttons from the Functional Content. I’d suggest studying these Assets, and picking the ones that work best for you. You can still alter/edit those back in PS, so you just need to "get close."
Pay special attention to the required naming conventions. You cannot deviate from those first characters in the Button Layer Sets. They MUST be followed.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Can I copy one frame of a movie using iMove and save the frame as a file that can be printed like a picture?

Can I copy one frame of a movie using iMovie and save the frame as a file that can be printed like a picture?  If so, how do I do that?

You could if you want a postcard sized print.
Printers need a lot more "dots" per inch and even a 1920X1080 video doesn't have enough "dots" to make more than a postcard.
Look at the "More Like This" links at the right side of this page for instructions.

  • If you buy an IPad online would it have an Apple warranty and can you get extended warranty from Apple

If you buy an iPad online would it have an Apple warranty. Can you get extended warranty?

If you buy it from the Apple Online store yes it will have full 1 year warranty, and the possibility to directly buy Apple Care +.
If you buy it from somewhere else, it may not. If the online seller is not an Apple authorized reseller then you may need to take to to an Apple Store for physical inspection before purchasing the Apple Care Plus extension.
If its not sealed and new, the warranty timer may have started to elapse, and it may not be eligible for Apple Care +.
But without knowing where you plan to buy it its hard to say for sure.
