Can't add songs to playlists in iTunes 9

Is anyone else having this problem in iTunes 9? I can't drag any songs into any playlists (existing or newly created). I can, however, delete songs from playlists.
Please help!
Thanks

I was adding songs to my iPod playlist and not even 2 minutes in to the task I could no longer drag and drop songs into ANY of my playlists. I could just as easily right-click and the songs would go without problem.
I've just got off the phone with Apple Support and all he had me do was download the most recent security update. I believe the only reason I was asked to do with was so my Macbook would not just restart, but also refresh all of the apps as well.
So far so good. KMFC.

For some reason I can't add songs to a playlist, whether it's by the new drag & drop feature or even right click & add to playlists.  Song's just aren't being added.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

  • Can't add songs to iphone 3gs itunes

My coworker just gave me her old iphone 3gs since she upgraded, and I haven't gotten cell service on it yet, but I'd like to add music.
I can't add any music from my itunes, I drag the songs to the phone and itunes "syncs" the phone, but the tracks stay gray. After I remove it and plug it back in, it's like I never added them.
I've messed with all the settings and restored it a couple of times, is this something I need to go to AT&T to figure out?

Maybe you can try plugging the iphone to pc, opening itunes and then flagging the option " MANUALLY MANAGE MUSIC AND VIDEOS".
    Let us know.

how can l add song from mac itunes to my phone

    Hey Adel Andic,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities, and thanks for the question. If your music is already in iTunes, all you have to do is sync your iPhone with iTunes on your Mac by following these instructions, and you should be able to easily get your music on there:

  • Can't add songs to playlists on iphone

When I click on add to playlist, it gives me a selection of my playlists but I can't choose any of them! Clicking on them doesn't do anything.
However I can add the song to a new playlist, but only one song..

Don't just copy the songs. Copy the entire iTunes library.
You need to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from PC and replace /Music/iTunes/ on new computer.

Also, just updated the phone's software today, and iTunes' software is already up to date.

    Hi Gregg,
Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.
    Cheers,

I need to add my music to my iPhone from iTunes but its not working!

First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.

  • Can't move songs after installing the iTunes 10.5.3 upgrade

Jan. 23, 2012.    On Friday, Jan. 20.  I installed the iTunes upgrade from the previous version to 10.5.3 and now I can't move my songs in or out of my playlists. The only thing that has changed since the update installation from the previous latest version of iTunes is installation of the  upgrade to 10.5.3.   I can not add songs to my plyalists or take them out.  I can not copy a song to the desktop like I previously could.   Wha' happened?    I've used the disk utility to repair permissions and I've got read and write permission within iTunes.

So far no one has responded and I've not been able to find anything via search.  Last evening I managed to move files by dragging them either into a playlist or onto the desktop after I had used the disk utility to repair permissions.  The first attempt produced no change. A bit later I decided to try again.  That is when iTunes functioned properly.  However, this morning when I tried to drag files, reorganize, etc.  The same problem was back.  I opened up the disk utility again to repair permissions thinking that might work since it worked yesterday.  Well, same thing.  No change after the utility was done.  Back to square one.
Since I was able to move music after a second attempt yesterday, I'm going to try the disk utility to repair permissions again, but I have to close out of this and will have to start a new reply.
I've never had this problem with any of the previous iTunes versions or operating system updates/upgrades.  My computer is a 5 year old MacBook that works fine and currently has Snow Leopard 10.6.8

  • Can't add to ANY playlist?

Again after having a system restore I re-downloaded Itunes and I was able to extract the music from my Ipod Nano onto my computer and load the songs into Itunes, even thous some of them have different names or the titles have been deleted.  However now I'm unable to move any songs into the playlists I've recreated.  If I drag them, I get the red circle with a line through it and the folder won't highlight.  If I right click and try to add, the only option is *show in playlist* and mine are not one of the selections. And I also can't open the playlist and add any songs to it.  So what am I doing wrong?

... So far, they just won't drag, no indication as to why not...
Not even a red-crossed circle while dragging it?
Which type of Playlist are you trying to add these songs to?
You can only add songs manually to a Regular Playlist. This can be done by dragging a song in to the list or by right-clicking a song and choosing Add to Playlist from the drop-down menu.
You cannot add songs manually to a Smart Playlist. Songs are added to Smart Playlists by iTunes, if the song meets the rules for that Playlist.
Also, you cannot add songs to a Playlist Folder. You can drag both types of Playlist into a Playlist folder

  • Cant add songs to playlist

just got a new ipod, transfered songs from old ipod to laptop, put songs onto new ipod.  Now the problem....i cant add songs to a playlist, the arrow doesnt give me the add to option and i cant drag them.....i have multiple devices , ipad, 2 iphones and now this ipod....itunes says downloading song x to match, what the heck is that and why is it taking so long?  do i have a library conflict or something?  i constantly struggle with syncing and manually manage this and that and all these songs will be deleted and synced with this library, etc....you get the picture.....can anybody give me the crash course of apple products 101? i never had any problems when i just had an ipod years ago but when we got multiple devices and accounts and cloud everything has become much more difficult.

    What sort of Playlist?
You can only drag songs into regular Playlists, but not into Smart Playlists. In the picture below, the highlighted Playlists with the "musical note on paper" are regular Playlists, into which you can add songs:
The Playlists with a "cog wheel" beside them are Smart Playlists. Songs are added to these lists according to the rules you set for that list. You cannot drag songs into them and if you try, you will see the red circle with the slash.
    Is this the problem?

  • I can't add songs on my ipod, its as if it were locked!

I just got a replacement and it won't let me add or delete the exact songs I want on my iPod. the only way it can is by letting iTunes choose my playlist. Whenever I try to drag a song onto my iPod, its as if it were locked & not allowing me to do so. I can't highlight any of the songs either. I already tried the "5R's", reset the warnings, and still nothing! There are no warning signs or anything else letting me know why it won't let me add or delete. Help!

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. Managing Your Songs Manually
One thing to remember about manually updating though is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod

  • How can i add songs to a family members ipod without erasing existing songs

How can i add songs to a family members ipod without erasing her existing song list.

For future reference, since I came here for the same reason, I'd like to add to the solution.  The link was not complete in explaining how to, but then again I'll just trying to attempt to fill in the gap.
After opening iTunes, on the upper left hand side is a small icon with an arrow pointing down. Click on the arrow and a menu pops out.  Click on "Show Menu Bar."  On the new bar(Older iTunes File, Edit, View, Controls, etc. bar at the top).  Click on View and then Show Side Bar.  There you can just click and drag new songs into your iDevice without any problems... hopefully...
Seriously, this helped me, so if Apple finds a way to not allow me to do this simple task of adding purchased songs into my idevices from another computer, I'll have to resort to other means.
The one idevice that's having trouble with is my iShuffle(2nd).
