Can't attach to message server

Hi,
I have just finished a NW EHP1 upgrade successfully, all the instances started ok from the startsap screen, I can login to R3, but I can't get http://host:5000 working, from dev_jcontrol I see errors like: "Can't attach to message server"
connect (10061: WSAECONNREFUSED: Connection refused)
I checked dev_ms and /etc/services, the message server port seem defined ok, any clues?
Thanks,
Jerry

HI, How did you resolve the Problem.
My J2ee angine is not coming aftre a homogeneous system copy. In Dev_jcontrol file I see logs as
[Thr 01] *  ERROR       The message received isn't from a message server.
Are you really connected to the message server?
             Please check your connection parameters.
             (de08u1743 / 3901)
In my dfault profile parameter I see settings as j2ee/ms/port as 3901. Kindly advise

  • Can a customer extend Messaging Server cryptographic capabilities?

One more question was brought up internally: is it possible to integrate Messaging Server and the related components with a third-party cryptographic software in order to extend SSL and Certificate authentication?
There's certain development in JCP (Java 1.6 crypto) which has hooks for adding algorithms; perhaps it can be used to extend Access Manager and similar Java web-apps. But Messaging Server, Web/App Server, etc. engines are not quite Java... is there a way to extend them with some API, command-line calls, etc.?

If you wanted to get the GOST cipher suite implemented the best place to start would be to ask on the mozilla newsgroup (mozilla.dev.tech.crypto) although as was pointed our by a Messaging Server developer, implementing the GOST suite is far from straight-forward which may explain why nobody has implemented it till now.
I did however find the following RFC which may help your endeavours:

  • With Mountain Lion Server, can users access the Messages Server from outside your network?

I would like to setup a new messaging service between my employees because we have issues with most online services. I'm thinking of getting a Mac Mini Server, so I can run Messages Server, but I have an employee outside my network. Can they login to the server remotely to use the Messages Server?
    Thanks

If you're talking about setting up and using the Jabber messaging service provided by OS X server then yes, it's really easy to set up and use in and out of the office. The only trick it is, and also most other services, is a correct DNS setup so you're able to connect and use the server from the "outside".
I use this myself (via Lion server rather than Moutain Lion server) from behind a dynamic IP addressed ADSL line and have no problems whatsoever.

  • Can't login to Messaging Server Admin Console

I've just installed DS5.2 and MSG5.2 on a 480R. After starting all the appropriate servers I am able to use the Admin Consoles on the 480R for both DS and MSG.
But if I try to login to the MSG server's admin console remotely from my Win XP laptop I get an error "Cannot logon because of an incorrect user id, incorrect password or directory problem. I'm using the same settings (ports, user id cn=Directory Manager, password) as i did on the 480R. I even tried Sun ONE 5.2 admin console as well as the older Netscape 4.5 console. I don't have a problem when logging into the DS5.2 admin server via the console on my WinXP laptop.
    Any ideas ?

Never mind. I hope the problem.
The admin server was configured to only allow connections to it from the local machine. I added my laptop's IP to the allowed hosts and everything's working just fine now.
    Thanks anyways.

  • Java add-in cannot connect to message server

I'm installing a Java add-in to an ABAP system (NW 2004s). During the start of the Java Engine, the processes cannot be started. When I look al dev_jcontrol, I see this:
    Thr 2860] Sun Jul 30 19:59:45 2006

It seems that JControl tries to connect to the message server on port 36. Where can this be corrected?

Discovering this thread when I had the same problem (with port number 36 not the 3901) I was frustrated to see no posted solution.  So now that I have solved it, here is  my solution:
    Cause
    =====
The J2EE add in adds a number of parameters to the default profile - however it does not import these into the database version of the profiles in RZ10.  Hence if you modify a parameter in the DEFAULT.PFL using RZ10 and activate it without first doing a "Import Profiles of Active Servers" the parameters added by J2EE install dissappear.
    Solution
    ========
In my case, I just compared the DEFAULT.PFL.BAK file to DEFAULT.PFL and readded the missing entries - incase people have lost there BAK file, here are the entries I needed to put back in (note your port numbers and instance numbers may differ):
SAP Central Service Instance for J2EE
    j2ee/scs/host =
    j2ee/scs/system = 01
    j2ee/ms/port = 3901
    j2ee/dbtype = ora
    j2ee/dbname = BWP
    j2ee/dbhost =
Restart the instance and magic! It works.

  • FPN configured for message server port

    Hello,
I would like to configure my Consumer Portal to connect to my Producer on port :8101 (the default message server port of the Producer).  However, each time I try with this conifguration FPN breaks and nothing works - can't browse the PCD or see remote roles via Identity Management (when I switch the config back to point to port :50000 in the Producer object on the Consumer it works fine again).  I'm not using a SAP web dispatcher between the two portals but Producer portal is indeed listening on port :8101 since I can hit it directly.  Is this a limitation of FPN?
My http trace shows an ABORT message when trying to connect with the :8101 configuration.
The 8101 port is necessary to be configured in order to leverage our clustered load balanced environment which has the 8101 message server port listening and redirecting to a cluster of servers.
    Patrick

When using Remote Delta Links one can configure the SAP Message Server's RMI-P4 port (3901 by default) for RMI-P4 communication.
For the HTTP load balancing you cannot configure it to point to the HTTP port of SAP Message Server (8101 by default) only the application server's HTTP port on the Central Instance (e.g. 50000) can be used.
But don't bother yourselves with this, because SAP recommends using SAP Webdispatcher for HTTP load balancing in FPN scenario, so don't use SAP Message Server directly for HTTP load balancing in the FPN connection setup!

  • Doubt regaurding message server in IR, partner profile and transporting XI

    Hi guys,
Can someone help me in figuring out  the need of message server and group after importing IDOC into IR. where can i find the message server ip address?
I am also wondering in the partner profiles when we need to use logical system (LS) or Supplier/vendors (LI) or Customers/debtor (KU) or etc.?
Please explain how to transport developer xi system to production server?
    Cheers
    Ram

    Hi,
    >>>>----> how to transport XI objects to production system?
the easiest way is to use file transport
you can export a file from IR and ID and import it into QAT and then into PRD
all you need for ID is to create transport targets in SLD
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ef/a21e3e0987760be10000000a114084/content.htm
so the names of your systems will change

    /people/sap.india5/blog/2005/11/09/xi-software-logistics-ii-overview
but as I mentioned file tranport is the easiest way
    >>>>-------> How about the option group?
you can put everything in idoc import menu
and use separate option when asked

  • SAP Message Server has wrong Servername

    Hello all,
after adding a new SAP System to the Solotion Manager in the TR SMSY I defined the right Message Server.
After connecting to the first Client at the ABAP Stack and reading System parameter via RFC the Message Server was set to one of the Intances of the System.
The Solman was installed with the Support Satck 22 and than Setup was done.
Searching the notes I found no hints for the error.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks
    Franz-Josef

I haven't been able to fix that, but there's a work-around: if you right-click on the system in the SMSY tree list, and set it to manual, you can then edit the message server field.

  • Where to find Message Server port ?

How can I find the message server port on my portal server installation ?
    - punam

    Hi Punam,
There are various ways of finding this out. One way is that you check the following log file and you can see the message port for your system. As far as I remember default port is 3601 but anyway confirm it in this file
    parameter is ms port
    C:usrsap<SID><INSTANCEworkdev_* files for ex dev_jcontrol
You can also find this from SAP MMC as welk. Check developer trace after right clicking on message server process.

  • Direct attachment of a server to 6100 UCS

    Hi,
I would like to know if i can directly attach a standalone server with 10G CNA to the UCS 6100 10G port and it login to the switch. For example the way we do with c5020 switch. In the 6100 CLI config guide i have not seen any command like binding a vfc to a physical eth int or VSAN FCoE VLAN association.
Also can any one please explain at present how it works? I see from config guide it connects to the Blade chassis below. I guess the hardware where 10G ports from 6100 are connected is a fabric extender sitting on the blade chassis.
If i have a fabric extender connceted to 6100 and let my server connect to the FEX, will that work? I am just trying to learn connectivity point of view.
    Thanks.

This video is helpful but it did not answer many Qs i have related to appliance port configuration.
As my FI is independent POD, i dont need End-Host mode right ? At least on the Fabric side. In the LAN side i guess it does not matter ? Can any one correct me please ??
Also once i configure the applicance port, where the appliance port will log in ? I did not see a show flogi database command. Besides i am not sure, if the UCS FI can work as FCF? Am i expected to see Discovery Advertisement that usually FCF sends to VN_port? How about LLDP? Can it negotiate LLDP with the appliance port which has SP-MA supported CNA.
    Thanks,

  • How to determine the Message Server ipaddress and Port Num

    Hi All,
I installed SAPR/3 4.7EE on windows with Local Installtion on windows and the SystemNumber is 00.
I am developing one SAP Load Balancing System Object in the Netweaver Portals,at the time of creating it is asking the values of Message Server IP addess and the Port number.
Can i give the same ipaddress of SAP R/3 server as Message Server Ip or its different? If it is different, How can we determine the Message Server IP addess and the Port number?

    Hi Pahani,
Message server ip is nothing but your server IP if it is stand alone and port is 3600.
if you want to check the info got to tcode SMMS>GOTO tab select PARAMETERS>display.it will show the info.
    cheers
    Shyam.
