Can't change DPM on radeon GPU

After using Catalyst for about 2 months and getting tired of it causing me problems, I recently just switched from catalyst to the open source radeon drivers and I noticed performance was slower than it was last time I used these drivers... a lot slower.
I installed "radeon-tray" and when I run it, it says the power method is "dpm", but the icon is stuck at M (for "mid power") regardless of what I'm doing. The GPU is blowing cold air even when playing a running-very-slow-game, so I'm sure it isn't running at full speed. Keep in mind, I own a R9 290 - these things are notorious for heat.
Anyway if I try using radeontray to change the power, it says "you don't have the permission tot write card's settings". I have also tried using (as root):
echo "dynpm" > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_method
but I'm told there is a write error.
In other words, I seem to be stuck at a certain frequency. Any ideas how to fix this?

Those settings match what i expected, it also indicates dpm support for your card in radeon driver is not fully functional yet.
The radeon driver sees lots of improvements in git, and it's possible latest trunk mesa has better dpm support.
The best results are gotten when you use trunk mesa and trunk llvm.
You got 3 options :
AUR mesa-git
misses a dependency (python2-mako ) and if you use it make sure you build/install llvm-svn before running it, else it will be build against stock llvm and miss functionality (maybe even crash due to to old llvm).

(for llvm-svn/clang-svn you can either use AUR llvm-svn or mesa-git llvm-svn, i tend to test with both)

The GPU in a iMac is NOT upgradeable.
You should check to see if your model of iMac meets the minimum specs to run FCPX.
I believe that your GPU is NOT OpenCL capable, and hence not supported.
Even if it works, you would probably get marginal performance.
What you can do is download the trial version and see how (and if) it works.

Unfortunately graphic card exchange is not possible.
Every notebook has specific hardware platform and each of them is optimized to work properly (BIOS, cooling system and so on).
So this is definitely not possible.

I teach project management, and during breaks, I have my desktop set to display pictures from my travels. I normally set it to "change picture: every 5 seconds." However, my students will generally ask for some commentary, and for many of the photos, 5 seconds is really too short.
Is there any way for me to add another option to the choices in System Preferences for 7 seconds? Failing that, is there any way for me to change the 5 second timing to 7 seconds?

This is a pictorial teardown of a rMBP. In Step 15, you can see the motherboard with the GPU chip firmly soldered to it. While the GPU is often called a graphics card, as is the ATI Radeon 5870 in my Mac Pro, it's a discrete graphics chip, as opposed to the graphics portion of the CPU which your rMBP also has.

Your notebook does not have any removable/replaceable graphics 'cards'.
The GPU's are chips which are soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded, or replaced.

Was AMD Radeon GPU compatibility removed in CS6?

I was wondering...
I checked out the AE CS6 trial and noticed that I cannot use my GPU whereas in CS5.5 I was able to.
I'm using an AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB and CS6 tells me the GPU is either not available or has an incompatible device or display driver.
I've the latest drivers for my graphics card so I don't think it's the latter.
Was AMD Radeon GPU compatibility removed in favor of NVIDIA or is the whole OpenGL part of AE gone?

Raytracing is the only GPU related option I could find in the Previews part of the Preferences window, inside the "GPU Information" pop-up.
Also, in "Display", "Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels" is greyed out, I can't tick/enable it.
The lightning bolt (Fast Previews) button doesn't show OpenGL related options either.
Running on Windows 7 64 bit.

This seems to have been asked a lot around the net, however, there doesn't seem to be an adequate answer to it.
I am running:
Operating system is Windows 7Motherboard is Q67H2-AM v1.1
Bios is ACER ver. 2.10.1207
GPU is GTX 770
PSU is 700w
The Graphics card is plugged in to the 16x slot, the fans spin, but no display and no device is recognized in device manager.
I have tried a few solutions including uninstalling my onboard graphics driver from the device manager and going to upgrade my 600w power supply to a 700w one.
I think the issue is that I need to change the BIOS to PEG or PCI Express. However, in the Bios the settings for both "Primary Video" and "Onboard Graphics" are grayed out, meaning that I can't change them.

I just installed it here and it seems to work OK. I'm on Mavericks now.

Message was edited by: Frank Caggiano - been playing with it and while it does report the GPU being used it is unclear from my tests if it will force one GPU to be used all the time. You need to ry it on your system and see if does what you are looking for.

You should take a look at the [[Downloads window]] and [[Options window - General panel]] Knowledge Base articles. They will give you all the details you need. Unless you are talking about the default action and not the actual download folder? If so, you should look at [[Options window - Applications panel]].

You can't change the display in the Mail app, if you are holding the iPad in landscape orientation then the left-hand third will be for navigation, and the right-hand two-thirds will be an email. If you hold the iPad in portrait orientation then the navigation section becomes a drop-down section.
