Can't compile class using library

Hi!
I have a simple class which uses library A. This library uses another library B in turn. When I try to complie the classs with javac, I get the message 'cannot access C. file C.class not found'
C is the name of the class from library B. I wonder why the compiler need the library B to compile my class which does not have references to it. Library A have such references but I'm not compiling it, I'm compiling my class. It looks like the bug in javac.
JDK 1.4.2_07

That section says: "The compiler needs type information for every class or interface used, extended, or implemented in the source file. This includes classes and interfaces not explicitly mentioned in the source file but which provide information through inheritance." I don't see how this statement implicates "All dependencies must be satisfied, regardless of whether YOUR class uses something". Could you advise?

    Double click the project to go to project settings, then go to libraries and add a library with the jar files you added.

    i have an application server with linux redhat 4 software.
    i have a shell that is named ' cpfdry.sh ' which is found on the path '\\192.9.200.2\apps\forms_to_compile'.

    but every time i have to go to the server which is located in another room. with every modification i have to recompile and have to go to the other room .
    i tried to do the compilation process by using telnet , and then run the shell file from my machine , i did like the following

Build was succesfull as well and also - deployment was without errors - but - above mentioned error appeared during the automatic compilation of jsp pages/servlet when newly deployed jsps are first accessed from remote browser.
    So - is it possible, please, to receive some advice - what to do further? I feel that my invoice.jsp page can be with errors, - however - the original welcomeJSF.jsp should be working without errors even the erronwous JFS jsp page is added to web application.
    Thans for any adice or hint in advance!!!

    OK - I have made 'clean and build main project' from NB menu and the deployed the resulting *.war and the error messages have disappeared... So - it seems to be bug...

  • How can I make server use single class loader for several applications

    I have several web/ejb applications. These applications use some common libraries and should share instances of classes from those libraries.
    But applications are being deployed independently thus packaging all them to EAR is not acceptable.
    I suppose the problem is that each application uses separate class loader.
    How can I make AS use single class loader for a set of applications?
    Different applications depend on different libraries so I need a way that will not share library for all applications on the domain but only for some exact applications.
    When I placed common jar to *%domain%/lib* - all works. But that jar is shared between all applications on the domain.
    When I tried to place common jar to *%domain%/lib/applibs* and specified --libraries* attribute on deploying I got exception
    java.lang.ClassCastException: a.FirstDao cannot be cast to a.FirstDaoHere http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19879-01/820-4336/6nfqd2b1t/index.html I read:
    If multiple applications or modules refer to the same libraries, classes in those libraries are automatically shared.
    This can reduce the memory footprint and allow sharing of static information.Does it mean that classes should be able to be casted ?

    You didn't specify which version of the application server you are using, but the config is similar as long as you know what to look for. Basically, you need to change the classloader delegation. Here's how it is done in 8.2

  • Problem in compiling servlet class - using Tomcat

    Hi,
    I have a servlet pgm that I'm trying to compile.I using Tomcat application server.I have my servlet class in D:\servlet_wrk\project1\src
    and my deployment descriptor in D:\servlet_wrk\project1\etc
    my CLASSPATH var is set to C:\Sun\AppServer\jdk\bin
    and
    my PATH var is set to C:\Sun\AppServer\bin.
    When I compile my servlet class Ch1Servlet.java in the command line from the directory
    D:\servlet_wrk\project1 using the command
    javac -classpath D:\applications\tomcat-5.5.12\common\lib\servlet-api.jar -d classes src/Ch1Servlet.java,
    it says error:cannot read: src/Ch1Servlet.java
    Can somebody help me to solve this problem and help me to compile my servlet class.
    Thanks.

    Thanks...as u said I tried putting dir & found that
    my file was saved as Ch1Servlet.java.txt instead for
    Ch1Servlet.java......So that was a problem.Now I'm
    able to compile.Oh, yeah. Notepad will do that to you. I think when you save in Notepad if you put quotes around the name "Whatever.java" then it won't add the .txt.
    But on compiling I'm getting the following error
    package java.servlet.* does not exist
    package java.servlet.http.* does not exist
    package java.io.* does not exist
    Do u the reason for this??? The servlet stuff is java[b]x.servlet. For the io stuff, I don't know, I'd have to see your code. Either you have a typo or a corrupt installation.

  • Can not locate Java class using JNI within C++ DLL

    I am using trying to use JNI to call a Java class from C++. The Java class uses JMS to send messages to a JMS message queue. At first I coded the C++ in a console application that created the JavaVM and used JNI to access the Java class. All worked fine. Then I called the Java class using JNI from threads and ran into the problem of the Java class not able to locate the JMS related classes. This was solved by placing the following line in the constructor of the Java class.
    Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader());
    Then I moved the JNI code from a console application to a DLL in specific an extension DLL that is called by SQL Server or Oracle server. The DLL will use JNI to call the Java class and send messages to a JMS message queue.
    The problem I am having now when the DLL code is called by SQL Server the call to
    JNI_CreateJavaVM
    appears to work correctly but the call to find the Java class using
    jvmEnv->FindClass(pName)
    fails. It appears the is a class loading problem which occurs due to the fact JNI is called from a DLL. When the VM is created I pass the class path information using the statement
    -Djava.class.path=
    And as I stated before it all works when running from a console application. I am new to JNI and really need help in the form of some sample code that will solve this problem. I believe I need to somehow load the classpath information from the DLL but I can not find examples on how to do this using JNI. I have tried several ways using URLClassLoader and getSystemClassLoader from JNI and either it does not work or it crashes very badly.
    I used the following code to determine what the existing class path is and the string returns empty.
    jcls = jvmEnv->FindClass("java/lang/System");
    jmid = jvmEnv->GetStaticMethodID(jcls, "getProperty", "(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/String;");
    jstrClassPath = jvmEnv->NewStringUTF("java.class.path");
    jstr = (jstring)jvmEnv->CallStaticObjectMethod(jcls, jmid, jstrClassPath);
    m_jstr = (jstring)jvmEnv->NewGlobalRef(jstr);
    pstr = jvmEnv->GetStringUTFChars(m_jstr, 0);
    Can anyone please help with example code that will solve this problem. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Charles

    I have determined the problem occurs when the application/component is compiled using VC 6.0. The test application was compiled using VC 7.1 and works correctly by locating the class path information. If the test application is compiled using VC 6.0 it has the same problem.
    The jvm.dll I am using is version 1.4.2.80. Currently this is not an option to compile all the applications that use JNI using VC 7.1 so can someone please tell me how to solve this problem.

  • Help! - JRE can't find classes that use inner classes!

    Whenever I try to launch an app using the JRE, if the class was built with an inner class definition, the JRE says it can't find the class.
    For instance:
    I created a class called GUI, which contains anonymous inner class definitions for the button handlers: addActionListener(new ActionListener()){, etc.
    When I compile this class I get GUI.class and GUI$1.class
    When I try to launch this using the JRE:
    jre -cp c:\progra~1\myApps GUI
    The JRE spits out
    'Class not found: GUI'
    BUT if I go back and remove the action handlers so that the only compiled class file is GUI.class (not GUI$1.class) then the JRE can find the class no problem.
    What in the good Lord's name is going on here?

    Thanks for the response. Got the 1.2.2 version of the JRE, where I guess you no longer invoke jre.exe (no such file exists) but java.exe instead (not well documented).
    Also, the newer version of the JRE has no problems locating classes, so I guess I'm OK.

  • Using library defined classes or not

    I've an existing class in my program named Document.
    and I am using a Dom4j library which so happens have the class Document as well...
    Now, my program runs into a conflict such that within this class, let's call it "processfiles.java" it requires both Document class to be used.
    I knew to call the library's class, all I need to do is to use org.dom4j.document... etc...
    but my user-defined Document class also points to the org.dom4j class implicitly hence it couldnt finds the method that i want to execute..
    how can i change my code such that I am refering to MY Document class and not org.Dom4j.Document class??
    Greatly appreciate any help.

    so can i assume as long as these classes does not import org.Dom4j.Document, i wouldn't need to refer to these Document class using my package name?correct
    currently all my java files reside in a root folder called test...may i know how should i name my package as?you wouldn't specify a package then in that case. This is generally discouraged tho. but in that case, if you need to use both kinds of Documents, don't import either, just specify
    org.jdom.Document
    and
    Document
    in the code

  • Can't compile custom classes in Release 12 environment.

    Hi ,
    We have some extensions to the OA Framework pages in Oracle Applications. The custom java files for the same are returning the following error while compiling in the release 12 environment.
    RufiReviewSubmitCO.java:78: cannot access oracle.sql.NUMBER
    bad class file: /u002/app/applmgr/R12TSTcomn/java/lib/appsborg.zip(oracle/sql/NUMBER.class)
    class file has wrong version 50.0, should be 49.0
    The same java files works without issues in a 11.5.10cu2 environment.
    The java version on the server is 1.6.0_10 and the java file was created on a client machine with java 1.6 version.
    Have you encountered this error, how to overcome this. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sudeep

    hi
    it seems that u direct compiling the files in unix box ,one other way i can suggest , if u will compile the class using Jdeveloper compatible to your EBS and then move the file to server ,definietly it will work.Note:416708.1 on Metalink has a list of all the JDev patches for the various releases of Oracle Applications.
    thanx

    On imac 10.6.8 using current version of Aperture.  How can I access the Aperture Library  on my external hard drive that I use with time machine for backup?  I can only access the application but not the library..

    Go into Time Machine (the program not the bundle on the extrnal disk) and using Time Machine's browser go to the Folder where the library lives. You could look in the library bundle in Time Machine but that won't really tell you much,
    If you want to make sure it truely has backed up your library you will need to restore it and open the restored library with Aperture.
    If all this still has you confused you need to read up on Time Machine in order to get a feel for how it works, for what it is doing and for how to restore files from it.

  • Itunes and all my movies have disappeared,i can no longer add to library from my external hdd which ive always used and can only add from the laptops own hard drive,any ideas what the issue could be?

    ive recently updated, itunes and all my movies have disappeared,i can no longer add to library from my external hdd which ive always used and can only add from the laptops own hard drive,any ideas what the issue could be?if i transfer the movies from the external to the laptop they will add to the library without any problem so theres no issue with the laptop but when i go to add file in itunes i can path to the external but as soon as i select the file nothing happens, just goes back to itunes

    This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
    Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
    Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • Can't open current photo library " using this version of iPhoto"

    "You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."
    Got a surprise today. My husband used his new Mac with Ilife9 to reach into the network and get the iphoto library on my machine. I have no idea what he did to make my files convert to a new format, but converted they are.
    How can I get them back exactly the way they were without updating my software.
    Can he export them, or I import them, somehow, to replace the my "changed" files into files my version of iphoto can open?
    His iphoto library (taken from me) would be identical to the one I have that won't open with my version of Iphoto.
    Any tricks to restore my pics and the peace of my home?

    He opened your iPhoto library and approved the upgrade after being notified that it was non reversible - If he wanted a copy of your iPhoto library then he should have copied it to his computer leaving yours alone and then opened the copy on his computer converting it there

    Load your backup - the conversion is not reversible

    If you do not have a backup then your choices are to upgrade your computer to iPhoto '09 or to start over with your original photos losing all edits, keywords, albums,etc -- to do this quit iPhoto on your computer and drag the iPhoto library to the desktop - launch iPhoto and be sure that the iPhoto preference to "split items imported from the finder into events" is NOT checked and create a new library and open the iPhoto library on the desktop and go to the originals folder and drag each folder in it onto iphoto - this will recreate yoru events with the original photos
