Using library defined classes or not

I've an existing class in my program named Document.
and I am using a Dom4j library which so happens have the class Document as well...
Now, my program runs into a conflict such that within this class, let's call it "processfiles.java" it requires both Document class to be used.
I knew to call the library's class, all I need to do is to use org.dom4j.document... etc...
but my user-defined Document class also points to the org.dom4j class implicitly hence it couldnt finds the method that i want to execute..
how can i change my code such that I am refering to MY Document class and not org.Dom4j.Document class??
Greatly appreciate any help.

so can i assume as long as these classes does not import org.Dom4j.Document, i wouldn't need to refer to these Document class using my package name?correct
currently all my java files reside in a root folder called test...may i know how should i name my package as?you wouldn't specify a package then in that case. This is generally discouraged tho. but in that case, if you need to use both kinds of Documents, don't import either, just specify
org.jdom.Document
and
Document
in the code

  • How to use self-defined class in a jsp page

    Hello:
    I defined a class for displaying purpose, which is in the different folder(WEB-INF/classes) from my JSP page.
    In my JSP page, I want to create an instance of my class and display something, while I get the following error: "
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
    An error occurred at line: 12 in the jsp file: /htmls/templateIntro.jsp

    How can I solve this problem? Should I redefine my classpath or there are some other actions I should take.

    Here is what I have done:
    1) in Display.java, add one line "package tools;" on the top, and compile it to
    create Display.class.
    2) create a new folder at
    /home/jiao/jsp_webserver/tomcat/webapps/syllabus/WEB-INF/classes
    named tools and then put the Display.class into the newly created folder.
    3) in my jsp page, add " import="tools.*"
    But it still doesn't work.
    Any ideas? T.I.A.

  • User defined class  for Web Services

    I am trying to use the Web Service Publishing Wizard to publish
    a class as a web service. The wizard will not allow me to select
    the method I wish to publish. When I click on the "Why Not?"
    button the message says:
    "One or more parameters did not have an XML Schema mapping
    and/or serializer specified"
    I use user defined classes as parameters of the methods of the service web.
    How cam i install this web service on "Oracle J2EE Web services"?

    If you use Java Beans (or single dimension arrays of Java Beans) that implement the java.io.serializable interface as per this article:
    http://otn.oracle.com/tech/webservices/htdocs/samples/customtype/content.html
    then Oracle9iAS will handle the publishing process of custom data types. The publishing wizard in Oracle9i JDeveloper 9.0.2 doesn't support this yet, but the link in the article to the JDeveloper help gives a fairly straightforward workaround. This workaround will be eliminated in Oracle9i JDeveloper 9.0.3 (due late August).
    Does representing your parameters as Java Beans work for your problem?
    Mike.

    For those who would have the same problem, here is how I could eventually fix it.
    Since the Flex Test Drive is sometimes out of sync with flash builder 4, I recreated a project using other help pages on Adobe site :
    Entry point :
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Flex/4.0/AccessingData/WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-668f02f4120d422cf08- 7ffd.html
    As suggested, I used the New Project wizard to create a new project, with :
    Application server type : J2EE
    Check the radio button "Use remote object access service : BlazeDS"
    Then, as indicated in following pages (section "Accessing BlazeDS")... :
    file:///C:/Mes%20documents%20C/Commun/Developpement/Documentation/HT-Tracks/AccessingData/ help.adobe.com/en_US/Flex/4.0/AccessingData/WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-668f02f4120d422cf08-7ffe.ht ml#WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-19a3f0e0122be55e1b7-8000
    ...I selected the "Data / Connect to Data/Services..." menu option, which started the Data/service connection wizard.
    There, I selected a BlazeDS (and not Web Services) service type, and everything went fine.
    Suggestion to adobe staff : maybe it would be useful to update the Flex Test Drive to reflect Flash Builder 4 ?
    Very nice product anyway, so far, congratulations...
    Rgds
    Marc.

  • How to use user defined exception class

    Hi all
    I just need som help with creating a user defined exception class.
    Im writing a small/simple text editor.
    My exception class looks like this:
    public class myExcp extends Throwable
         private String message;
         public myExcep(String message)
              this.message = message;
         public void display()
              System.out.println(message);
    I would like to use it when a user tries to open a exe-file instead of a txt file.
    Here is some code from the editor:
    if (e.getSource() == open)
    saveOld();
    if (fc.showOpenDialog(null)== JFileChooser.APPROVE_OPTION)
    readFile(fc.getSelectedFile().getAbsolutePath());
    saveas.setEnabled(true);
    So, should I use exception here or at the readFile method?
    readfile:
    private void readFile(String fileName)
    try
    String tmp = fileName.substring(fileName.length() -4, fileName.length());
    if (!tmp.equals(".exe"))
    FileReader r = new FileReader(fileName);
    textarea.read(r, null);
    r.close();
    currentFile = fileName;
    label.setText(currentFile);
    changed = false;
    catch (IOException e)
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog (this, "Cannot find the file " + fileName);
    Where and how do I use my exception class.
    Do I need to create an instance? Where?
    Should the exception class extend Exception instead?
    Thank you in advance /

    Extend Exception, not Throwable. It's a checked exception that way.
    Follow the Sun coding standards and make that exception class name start with a capital letter.
    When you extend Exception, override all four ctors.
    What's that display method you added? Isn't getMessage() good enough?
    You need to create a new instance just before you throw the exception, of course.
    Sounds like a terrible design, by the way. Exceptions shouldn't be used like "go to" for app logic. They should signal unrecoverable conditions. You can easily recover from the situation you've described simply by displaying a pop-up that tells the user to open only text-readable file types. I think that's a better solution.

  • Error in conversion-applet class is not defined!

    Hello everybody.I have created my own applet and I try to test it in a simulation world ,using the Java Card Toolkit 2.1.1.
    I have declared AID of my applet in the jcwde.app file as following:
    ///The code in the jcwde.app file
    com.sun.javacard.samples.wallet.Wallet 0xa0:0x0:0x0:0x0:0x62:0x3:0x1:0xc:0x6:0x1

    /////End of the code
    In the first line of this file there is the AID of the installer also.
    As you can see from the above file, the only difference between th wallet and myapplet is the second byte from the end.
    Then I tried to compile(was successful) myapplet and then converted.When I try to convert(I also create an .opt file which has the above address of myapplet), I received the message:
    error: com.sun.javacard.samples.wallet.myapplet class is not defined in package com.
    sun.javacard.samples.wallet.myapplet.
    conversion completed with 1 errors and 0 warnings.
    I will give the .opt file also:

    What do you think I am doing wrong?Is any other file(like the jcwde.app file) that I have to declare the AID of myapplet?

  • Class type not defined for this object type

    Hi Friends,
    Could u please guide me ?..We have a requirement to extract some data from classification system.
    This is related with class type 023 - Batch
    I want to use the following parameters in CTBW.
    basis datasource :Z_BATCH_ATTR
    class type : 023
    object table :MCHA
    Datasource type : ATTR
    I am getting an error "Class type not defined for this object type" when i enter the above entries in CTBW.
    The only way I'm being able to make this work is changing object table from MCHA to MCH1.
    This solution does not fit me bacause MCH1 table dont have Plant as Key, and I need it.
    Do you know what should I do to solve this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    I believe we have to use the list of standard "Basis DataSource", as I'm also stuck with the same issue. Let me know what Basis Data source you selected in this case.
    As I'm trying to extract Batch attributes from "AUSP" Table.
    I have given class type= 023
    Obj Table= AUSP
    But not sure which "basis datasource" I need to select.
    Thanks,
    Satish

  • Can't compile class using library

    Hi!
    I have a simple class which uses library A. This library uses another library B in turn. When I try to complie the classs with javac, I get the message 'cannot access C. file C.class not found'
    C is the name of the class from library B. I wonder why the compiler need the library B to compile my class which does not have references to it. Library A have such references but I'm not compiling it, I'm compiling my class. It looks like the bug in javac.
    JDK 1.4.2_07

    That section says: "The compiler needs type information for every class or interface used, extended, or implemented in the source file. This includes classes and interfaces not explicitly mentioned in the source file but which provide information through inheritance." I don't see how this statement implicates "All dependencies must be satisfied, regardless of whether YOUR class uses something". Could you advise?

  • Data Connection Library used in the workbook is not in a trusted location.

    I got a requirement to display excel charts with data source as SharePoint list.
    Here are the steps which I am following:
    Exported SharePoint list to excel sheet and exported connection file to local drive.
    Uploaded to data connection library.
    Created a new excel file and consumed data from connection file which was stored in data connection library.
    Published the excel sheet to document library with publish options as Chart and Pivot Table.
    Able to see Excel Chart and Pivot table from the browser.
    Getting Error when I try to refresh the excel sheet to get updated data from SharePoint list.
    I added data connection library details to Trusted Data Connection & Trusted File locations still I am getting error. That .odc file is not in Trusted Location.
    "The Data Connection File used in the workbook is not in a trusted location. The following connections
    failed to refresh:"
    Please help me on this and suggest if there is any other approach to fulfill this requirement.

    Hi Pratik,
    Thanks for your input.
    I created a new document library and data connection library and tried the steps mentioned below:
    Configuration
    Enable Claims to Windows Token Service
    The first step, check the status of the Claims to Windows Token Service on SharePoint.
    Use the following instructions to check and enable the Claims to Windows Token Service.
    In Central Administration, in System Settings, click Manage services on server.
    Select Claims to Windows Token Service, and then click Start.
    Verify the service is also running in the Services console:
    In Administrative Tools, click Services.
    Start the Claims to Windows Token Service if it is not running.
    Create a New Secure Store Application
    Create a New Secure Store Target Application and set the credential.
    This credential will be used by SharePoint to access the database. The account set into this step need to have access to the database or SSAS cube/tabular databases.
    Use the following instructions to create and set credential.
    In Central Administration, in Application Management, click Manage service applications.
    Click Secure Store Services, and then click New.
    Target Application Settings:
    Tagert Application ID: ExcelServicesSSS
    Display Name: Excel
    Service Secure Store App
    Contact e-mail: [email protected]
    Target Application Type: Individual

    Morning JJFH,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    If after setting up Home Sharing, you cannot access your shared iTunes library over your home network from your Apple TV, take a look at this article:

  • I get the following message on certain songs in my library: the song could not be used because the original file could not be found

    I get the following message on several songs in my library:  the song could not be used because the original file could not be found.  How can I download these songs to my new iPod?

    This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
    Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
    Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • Static class could not use by SAP AS[JAVA]

    hello everyone:
      I migrate one J2ee application from a standard J2EE server ,deploy is OK,but it does not work.
      I  found that the static class will not be used in web tier,the detail is :
      there is a static class to implement the MD5 encryption,it will encrypt the data and return encryptd data .
      when I use this static class at my MainServlet ,which is a servlet,exception throw,and I copy the encrypt method as private method of the servlet ,it works!
      now,I really puzzle with it,the web container of SAP AS will not support static class?or it's a BUG of it?or something else?
    regards for any

    I'm running into a similiar situation where I am porting over a J2EE application over and I am unable to access the static classes.   Not sure what the previous poster meant by fixing the static class to be "thread safe"?
    Is it a matter of thread safety?  And if so, it would appear that the WAS is very specific in these requirements.  Is there a way around it?  Or at least a standard to follow?

  • Excel opens and does not close when using the OI classes for some users...

    Hello Experts,
    I am using the OI classes(i_oi_container_control, i_oi_error, i_oi_document_proxy, i_oi_spreadsheet) to transfer Excel data to my itab. The problem we are encountering is that for some users the excel automatically opens and does not close. But in my case it is not opening so it is fine in my case. In my code I am already using the 'CLOSE_DOCUMENT' and 'RELEASE_DOCUMENT'.

    Viraylab,
    Check by any case you set the parameter register_on_close_event of the method init_control? Dont set the parameter as it will look for the corressponding custom code in your program. Also try with the method release_all_documents.

  • To use a Threading Class for EJBs or not?

    I was wondering if someone can help me answer this question? I am going to have this class that will be used by the Beans to complete a transaction. Because I have several Beans that all need this one particular class to complete a transaction, I was wondering if it would be good to create this class in a cache type manner. Meaning this class will only be instantiated once when the server loads after that all the beans will only reference it through this class' getInstance() method. I know this class does not contain any data that needs to persist however I would like to avoid having mulitple instances of this one particular class. The class completes a rather long transaction process. It is not much from my side, but I have to wait a few seconds for the other application that I connect to, to complete the transaction, then finally get a return. This class does not do too much work, but it just needs to wait for a long time to get back a response. Since threads are lighter and cheaper than a complete process I was wondering if I should create this class that extends the thread. Below I have some basic code that can do this but I was wondering if this would be a good methodolgy for transaction heavy application. Sorry for making it too long. I have marked the class with X's to prevent the client who we connect to.
    public class XXXXXXX extends Thread {
    private static XXXXXXXX wconn = null;
    private XXXXXXXX xxc;
    private String response = null;
    public XXXXXXXX() {
    this.xxc = new XXXXXXXX ();
    * set properties *
    this.xxc.host = ""; //Connector ID
    this.xxc.port = 8800; //without SSL
    //this.xxc.port = 443; //SSL
    this.xxc.ssl = false; //SSL (if true, change port to 443!)
    this.xxc.compress = true; //compression
    this.xxc._native = true; // native request; MUST set to true for XML Pro
    this.xxc.keepalive = false; //indicates if the connection to the server should persist
    public void run()
    public static XXXXXXXX getInstance()
    return wconn;
    private other functions ....
    Thank You for any insight that you can provide.

    So you want to run something outside the containter. It doesn't matter whether you have a seperate app or just run inside the same JVM as the container. Once you are outside the container it doesn't matter how you implement it in terms of J2EE.
    It sounds to me like you just have a job and you are submitting that job for processing. You might want to examine what happens when more than one thread accesses that instance at the same time but other than that it works. You might also want to look at what happens if one or more of the other systems are down (where persisting the job on your side might make sense.)

  • Somehow my itunes started a new library and I lost my old library. Itunes will not allow me to sync new music to my ipod without deleting stored music from ipod. How can I start using this new library and sync the new music without losing existing music.

    Somehow my Itunes started a new music library and I lost the old library.  Itunes will not allow me to sync new music from my computer to my Ipod because it is now in a different library. Itunes wants to delete all my Ipod music before sync any new music. How do I work around this. I think this happened during Itunes Upates.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
    Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
    See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
    When you get it all working make a backup!
    Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
