Can't connect to new router...

Hi
I've just installed a new intranet here at my place and one of the changes is that my computer must connect to another router now. While everything works perfect in both Knoppix and windows, I can't get Arch to connect....
I've collected all files to show you my situation (I think):
rc.conf:

My router's IP is 192.168.123.254 but if I ping that address or I try to connect to the web interface on that address to configure the router I can't get any connection...  I've also tried to specify all paramaters directly in rc.conf (eth0="eth0 192.168.123.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.123.255") but that didn't help neither.
I'm kind of out of ideas on how to solve this... I hope someone here will help me getting out of windows (the only OS on my pc with internet FTM).

I'm so stupid... I should've thought about iptables... I'm reconfiguring them now, thank you very much!

  • I can't connect to the router in my home.  Things were working fine as usual - I attended school and connected to their WiFi network as usual.  When I returned home I could not connect to my own home router.  The Ipad seeks the network but nothing happens

I can't connect to the router in my home.  The Ipad seeks the network but nothing happens.  I went to school and connected to their WiFi network as usual with no problems.  When I returned home I could not connect to my home router.  The Ipad seeks the router number but nothing happens.  I rebooted the Ipad a few times in the school.  The numbers identifying the router, etc. on my Ipad no longer appear there.
TThe Ipad guide says to connect to the WiFi use setup but I can't find the setup program in the Ipad.
I reset the network settings to the factory defaults but this doesn't fix the problem.
What can I do to reconnect to my home router?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Are you attempting to perform the USB >> Wireless conversion through our software? If you are, is your computer connected to the network in question?

By the way, there are literally hundreds of online fax services, some of them quite reasonable in prices. I have to tell you that faxes have become antiquated for business purposes. If you have a scanner, emailing a pdf file is easier to read. But if you just must fax it, just scan it, then you can use an online fax company.
I have to admit that I'm in business, and I have a fax machine that I haven't used in 2 years. It's just a printer/scanner. Even attorneys now only require signature pages to be faxed, but now you scan and email that.
I agree with this, but some businesses are still antiquated.... such as certain schools you may want to send transcripts to or certian states that need supplements to your tax return filing.  There are definately still a few occasional reasons why someone might need to fax something.
I'm not sure where you're located, but in this country you're not allowed to send your own transcripts to colleges. And you're not allowed to file taxes by fax (because they need to be machine readable).  But we can do most of it online, unless it's highly complex.
I read an article that if you're looking for a job in high technology and your resume has a fax number on it, employers almost always automatically reject you.
Anyways, I wasn't criticizing, I was just saying that giving you an alternative to an expensive solution.

  • After software Update (2006-07), airport can not connect to the router

    Hi,
I installed the software update 2006-07. Afterwards the airport extreme can not connect to the router anymore (NETGEAR). I use a WEP key, but even if I type the WEP Key, the airport does not succeed to the router anymore... I called Apple Care and they wanted that I install the firmware restoration. But even I didn't succeed to install the firmware restoration. On the firmware restoration web page (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/firmwarerestorationcd12.html) is written that I have to turn on the computer and continue holding down the power button until the LED blinks rapidly followed immediately by a successive series of blinks (3 quick blinks, 3 slow blinks, 3 quick blinks). But after the LED blinks, there is not the successive series of blinks...
I know there is 2 questions in one message, but could you please help?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Eric

Can't connect my new iPhone 4 with internet via Time Capsule. IP4 recognized TC but will not connect with it. (Password etc. is ok)

    Do the usual wireless things.
Change the wireless name to simple name with only alphanumerics and no spaces.
Set to manual and use channels 1, 6, 11 in turn.
For testing take off the security altogether.
The iphone only works on 2.4ghz so only that band is relevant.

I have a powermac g4 quicksilver in which I have installed a normal airport wireless card in the dedicated slot. How can I connect to my router? It is not an apple airbase station but does it need to be? How can I connect to my router?

What encryption is the Rouer using? If WPA2 you likely can't.
    Go to System Preferences
    Click Network
    Highlight AirPort and click Configure...
What shows for Routers there? Or is Join Other Network availabe in 10.3.x?

This printer was working ok with the old router but won't connect with new modem/router.

Yup, this is expected.  You will have to re-install the printer.  Get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page, run the installation and choose "Wireless" or "Network" when it asks.  You will have to temporarily use a USB cable to communicate with the printer.
