Can't connect to one VM on Azure

We can't login one VM on Azure. It shows it is running. But when we try to connect it, we get "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons:....How can we fix it?

Hi;
Thank you for your post,  to log on to a virtual machine running Windows Operating system in Windows Azure,
we usually use a Remote Desktop Connection to achieve that. However, one may encounter issues during the Remote Desktop Connection and there are multiple reasons for RDP issues in Azure.
Have you tried to ping to the VM and check if it is available or not?
Next you could try the following steps :
1. Restart the VM from the Azure Portal and cross check for connectivity.
2. Increase the Size of VM and then try to reconnect.
Here are few more steps you could check as per the issue;
1. Remote Desktop cannot connect to the remote Azure Virtual Machine
Sometimes, after you use the Connect button in the Management Portal to start a Remote Desktop Connection, the error message would be prompted as below:
Figure 1. Error message for Remote Desktop Connection
If you encounter the error message above, you can start troubleshooting from the three parts below:
1) Check the basic information for the Virtual Machine that you want to log on:
1. Check the quick glance in the Dashboard of the Virtual Machine and ensure that the Virtual Machine is running and other parameters are all displayed. If not, please restart the Virtual Machine to see if the issue persists. The figure below is the screen
capture of quick glance for an Azure Virtual Machine in our test.
Figure 2. Quick glance of an Azure Virtual Machine
Check the endpoint for Remote Desktop to ensure that it is existing or not. If not, you can recreate a new endpoint for Remote Desktop.
The figure below is the screen capture of the endpoints for the Virtual Machine lab01.
Figure 3. Endpoints of an Azure Virtual Machine
2. Check the Azure Status page to make sure that no known issues happened in the region that the Virtual Machine belongs to:
http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/status/
3. Besides, resizing the Azure Virtual Machine may fix the issue if there is a problem specific to the host where the Azure Virtual Machine is currently running. Since
D: drive will be lost and the internal IP address of the Azure Virtual Machine will also be changed if the Azure Virtual Machine ends up on a different host after resizing, please make
sure that no important data on the D: drive and no influence would be caused by changing the internal IP address.
2) Check the Remote Desktop configuration on the local side
You need to make sure that Remote Desktop service is not blocked on your local side.
You can enable Telnet Client on your local computer and run “telnet xxx.cloudapp.net public_port_for_Remote_Desktop” at the command prompt to see if it is able to connect to the VM using the public port of the endpoint for Remote
Desktop. If you receive any error message when running the Telnet command, it means a failure.
In our test, since TCP port 59585 is the public port for Remote Desktop, we ran “telnet lab0.cloudapp.net 59585” at the command prompt in our local computer and it was able to connect. You can refer to the figures below:
Figure 4. Telnet the public port for Remote Desktop on local side
Figure 5. Result of Telnet
You can also connect from different network to see if it is possible to connect. If connecting from a different network succeeds, maybe the Remote Desktop connection is blocked by your
local side. Then you can open the related ports to make the Remote Desktop Connection succeed. If the Remote Desktop connection is blocked by the corporate firewall, you need to contact the corporate network administrator for help.
3) Check changes on the Azure Virtual Machine
You need to check that if you had done any changes related to Remote connections on the Azure Virtual Machine.
If you choose the option “Don’t allow remote connections to this computer” in the Remote Desktop settings or disable
Remote Desktop in Windows Firewall on the Azure Virtual Machine, you can use the cmdlets below to enable RDP and the necessary Windows firewall rule for the Azure Virtual Machine if you have install VM agent on the Azure Virtual Machine:
Get-AzureVM -ServiceName “xxx” -Name “xxx”| Set-AzureVMAccessExtension | Update-AzureVM
In addition, you can also use Remote PowerShell endpoint to execute PowerShell commands remotely on Azure VM from our local machine to change the related configurations:
Remote PowerShell in Azure IAAS Virtual Machines

Hope this helps.

there are 2 recent posts that suggest issues over 5, one where someone was trying to troubleshoot for a friend or client as they couldn't keep more than 5 connected, and the other where somone had more than 5 but was using 2 separate itunes libraries to share the load - not sure if that was with the same or differing AppleIDs.
I guess there is always the possibility that things kight vary from one itunes version to the next even unintentionally to allow more.

  • Can only connect from one direction

I'm having trouble video confrencing... I tried searching the forums, but I'm having trouble thinking of clever search terms.
I can only connect from one direction with one person. They can invite me to a chat and it works fine every time. However when I invite them it always fails. I can invite other people and it works fine though.
This doesn't seem like a typical router problem, because they can invite me and we videochat just fine.
This has been a problem for most versions of iChat that I can remember, but I'm using 3.1.5 currently.

  • Remote Desktop Connection Times Out With "Can't Connect" From One Specific Computer Only

This is an odd one... I manage several servers from this computer. This particular server, 2012 Essentials, won't allow for remote desktop connections to either the server or attached workstations. I can get into the server's remote web page but when I
attempt a remote desktop connection, it hangs on "Initiating remote connection..." and then times out with the error response that remote desktop can't connect. But... if I attempt the same connections from any other computer, I am able to get in
and utilize remote desktop. Does this mean that there is a certificate issue with the computer unable to connect and if so, how does one remedy this? Or is it some other issue? I've attempted everything within my technical ability to no avail. Any suggestions
    are greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Before going further, would you please let me know the RDC version that used in the problematic computer? Was it the same with other computers?
Please temporarily disable firewall and then check if this issue can be solved. Based on your current description, it’s hard to say the root reason of this issue.
So, I suggest that you should check relevant log files and get some clues. It will help us to narrow down and solve your issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • How many BW 7.3 systems can be connected to one HANA database?

    Hello Gurus,
For Development,Test and sandbox environments customer likes to share one HANA database for multiple SAP BW systems.
So how many BW 7.3 systems can be connected one HANA database (ofcourse on single HANA appliance)?
Can i install multiple HANA Databases on single HANA hardware?
Can someone help me on these questions.

You can connect as many systems as you want with the HANA (also 3 BWs).....The problem is, that you only have 1 system, which is able to put the data real-time into the HANA via SLT...the other systems will load their data via ETL into HANA...
I am not aware about any such restriction. It should be possible to have as many SLT systems replicated as you like. Can you explain why only one SLT is possible?

  • Time Capsule woes -- Connection timeouts and can't connect with one Macbook

This is my second Time Capsule. Here's the scenario:
I have a Netopia 3347 DSL modem. That feeds into the Time Capsule in bridge mode. There is a MacBook (metal case), iBook (yes, it's old), two iphones, a color printer and an iPad that can all connect to the Time Capsule just fine. The problem is my MacBook can't connect. The offending computer is a 2.2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo running SL 10.6.6. This computer can connect to the Netopia just fine, so I know its internal Airport works. After several go arounds with Apple tech support, I'm still nowhere.
    Here are the symptoms:
    1. I can see the TC's network SSID in the airport pull down menu. If I select the TC, a popup appears and asks for a password. If I enter the password, I'll get a connection timeout error.
    2. On the rare occasions where it does connect, I can't open a webpage. Network diagnostics has red dots for ISP Internet and Server
    3. On the even rarer occasions where it does connect, and I can access a webpage, it's unbearably slow, and the no-surf problem reappears after a few seconds. The red dots on the Network Diagnostics reappear.
Apple tech support was not helpful. I've power cycled everything a million times (and that doesn't explain why other computers can connect.) I know it's not my computer, because it can connect to the Netopia just fine.
    I am STUMPED.

Magnificent! Problem solved...   Isn't there a "this solved my problem" button somewhere??  Thanks and thanks again!

  • Can't Connect to one person any more even though we can connect to others

I'm hoping that someone has an idea of what i can do to remedy this situation.
I have been video ichating w/ my wife from work for many months. (she does work for my office from home, so it's ok) She has a MacBook Pro and I have a MacBook. Things worked great until about three or four weeks ago. Now we cannot connect w/ video OR audio at all. I can connect w/ anybody else on my list from work and she can connect w/ anybody else on her list from home. But when we try to connect w/ each other, we get the error -22 bandwidth problem.
How is it possible that it is only our direct connection that does not have enough bandwidth when we can use our same connections to video chat w/ others??
We are both current w/ updates on all of our software.
    HELP!
MacBook 2GHz Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2 GB Ram

    I give up,
There are so many routers, osx, macs and settings that it is difficult to find a repeatable bug.
It just feels like that there are three factors that cause connection problems.
And then different combinations when you look backwards.
So what I have to say is that I cannot pin it down or remotely claim I have firm reason to believe what I say is right but I do see some "combinations of plausible suspects causing the same error message"
The first Macbook Pro was a hard one, refined, improved etc but a non connector.
And it was very hot, uncomfortable hot. I think the designers had been a little to enthusiastic speeding up the processor time.
Now the heat wouldn't be a real problem, the amount of calculations within a very short time might have caused the probook to
be the king of not connecting. There was a certain issue with a card that time so not impossible. Another variable caught the eye.
The graveyard of routers. Understandable, you hide your router and hope you never have to see it again. They do age though, fast.
Updates and firmware did bring some relieve but the Apple chips are something completely different then when tests showed all was good with your good old router. Yet my G4's did respond and my G5 did not. Something totally different caused the error but it gave the same error tekst. it was me who managed to give my computers the exact same identity. Well the error message was: "user does not respond" and I was convinced that it was some kind of bug causing the universal iChat "does not respond" mistery. The port-forwarding was the only fair chance for connecting, and with endless patience and effort Ralph and a lot of others almost personally fixed every possible router combination sold by Apple. The design and coding assignment however was complete the opposite, plug 'n play. Somehow our neighbor was iChatting just by pointing at his router and we did not respond.
In the beginning the specs looked good, it worked fantastic when you managed to avoid to get one or two "show stoppers" in your setup.
A lot of bandwidth, the right sort of router for your specific setup (os version, router software and maybe the right camera and much more)
It is a miracle that some of us got it right the first time. It ran flawlessly if you had the right combination of settings, hardware and software.
And oh boy, what a pain if you got them all wrong. I've been busy at night so to say.
But there is hope, I've seen Macs go online right out of the box (10.4.8) and it looks promising. They all went full motion video chat with no change to settings or any other effort then clicking on your language etc. Splendid. I dare to say that you need to put an effort in it to get it wrong.
The new 802.11n routers that are leaving the shops are fast and steady, 10.4.9 is ready, and in the distance there is a cat waiting that is awesome. I think I already know which airport/router/musicstore/videoshop I'm going to buy.
Just hope Apple doesn't forget to sync the time with MS, it could take a while to debug.
    Regards,
    JP
Some tips if you can't wait to chat:
1st, it makes no real difference who your ISP is in this case as your issue is not ISP related.
2nd, whether your computer is named or not in the file sharing prefpane should have no bearing on how well your computer hooks back up to the wireless network following sleep.
3rd, PPPoE is not a setting for your wireless network and shouldn't be a setting for any other computers on the wired network behind your router....the router is the only device that might need PPPoE parameters set in order to communicate with the DSL Modem --- and these days, not all DSL Modems are using PPPoE.
D-Link has been in the past very interesting in how they comply with the overall 802.11g/b standards.....some of their default settings can cause issues for the Macintosh WiFi cards because Apple has implemented the standards in a standard way while D-Link chose to implement them such that they caused the least interference for the way that Windows is implemented......which is not quite to standard.
On your router (using the html embedded control pages) you should be able to fine tune the wireless network performance parameters by hooking your computer to the wired LAN port(s) in the back of the router, turning off your Airport card and then checking the Network prefpane to ensure that your computer has an IP address assigned in the range of 192.168.0.xxx ----
Now open your browser and send it to http://192.168.0.1 then log into the control page with the default username - admin - and no password.
This should bring you to the built in control pages Home......check to see if your router has an Advanced tab and if so, select it, then select the Performance button ------ this should be where you can fine tune the wireless network parameters that D-Link has set to their choice for defaults.
The setting that I seem to recall causing the most issues for Macintosh wireless networking in the past was the length of the Preamble ---- I believe that the choice that should work best is the Short Preamble......
The other setting that would best be adjusted is the one that uses any proprietary accelleration techniques to "double" the speed. On a similar vintage DI-624 I had to disable the "Super G" mode in order to keep the wireless network robust for all clients.
I hope this rambling response helps get you back on track.
So in summary, I think your new MacBook CD2 wireless card should be just fine.......your big challenge is in fine tuning the performance parameters that D-Link chose for the DI-524 so that your router can work in a more standard mode and then your new laptop should hook up as advertized.
When you upgraded the firmware, did you make sure that you had the proper version for your revision model? The D-Link support site Firmware Update page lists several different revisions to that model.

I use Mail 6 as my client to connect to several POP accounts. Just one of them won't work. I can make it work in Thunderbird. The account name has an explanation mark in a circle icon next to it. When I click on that I get: "The server returned the error: The server “pop.mycompanyserver.com” cannot be contacted on port 995." I've tested all of the settings and contacted Enterprise IT. I think it may be something about autodiscovery. Is there something I can manually change on my end? Thanks.

Nope. Didn't work. My company IT told me to get lost, but I'm pretty sure it's a problem at their end.
Nevertheeless, maybe this will help in getting to the bottom of this: when I delete the account and then go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Add Account, I type in my e-mail and password and it searches for a server that matches. It finds something called autodiscover.companyname.net, which it calls an"Exchange server," but it fails to login, saying the email address or the password entered may not be correct
