Can't create WORD or EXCEL PDF?

Can't create WORD or EXCEL PDF's?
All Adobe updates are already installed.
I am running Adobe Professional 8
I am running Office Professional 2003
When opening WORD or EXCEL I get this error message:
Microsoft Visual Basic
Compile error in hidden module: DistMon
A suggested solution was to go to:
C:\Documents and Settings\IBM USER\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
Then delete PDFMaker
The error message goes away but I cannot create a PDF Doc either, so that's no good.
When I click the create PDF button in EXCEL this is the ERROR Signature:
AppName: excel.exe
AppVer: 11.0.8307.0
AppStamp: 49ee85df
ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
ModStamp: 00000000
fDebug: 0
Offset: 00000000
Also, when I click on send error report, it never finishes.
If I open Adobe Professional 8 and click on create PDF, then select a file,
the error message I get is:
Missing PDFMaker files.
Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?
If I click yes, it takes forever and nothing happens.
Suggestions?

I got this message when trying to use Excel 2003. I went to Microsoft's web site's community and entered the error message that you got. There was a solution offered that worked for me although I cannot remember now what it was. You might also try Microsoft's knowledge base for any possible answers for this problem. IMHO, I believe this is an Office 2003 problem and not an Acrobat problem.
I usually find the answers to problems such as these on Microsoft's web site. Good luck.

  • Storing MS Word, MS Excel, PDF, etc in DB and retrieving through WebForms

    Hi,
We have an application that requires storing MS Word, MS Excel,
PDF and HTML docs. We're planning on storing these documents in
a table as BLOB's with a column in the table that would indicate
the MIME type for the document. We need to be able to retrieve
these documents using the WebForms application we created. The
user would prefer to view a Word document in MS Word, an Excel
document in MS Excel, and so on. As of now there is no
requirement for searching within these documents, all we have to
do is retrieve them from the db and display them to the client.
Keep in mind this is a web based app, developed with Forms6i, we
would like to give the user the ability to press a button and
have the document displayed in the appropriate program.
I've searched for examples for this type of situation and have
been unsuccessful. But after reading about Oracle Text it
sounds like this could be what I'm looking for, minus the search
capability that is. Am I looking in the right place? Is it
possible to accomplish the requirements described above using
Oracle Text? If not where should I be looking.
Any help, info or even better sample code on this would be
    greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff Butler

    Jeff,
I'm not familiar with WebForms so I will only comment about
    Oracle Text.
You can use Oracle Text to store, index, and search documents in
different types of formats (HTML, XML, MS Office, PDF, etc.).
Oracle Text also provides document services like a markup version
of a document, highlighting, themes, and other linguistic
    features.
Take a look at the OTN page for some sample code

  • Can't covner word files to pdf. have acrbot 8 and win 7.  HELP!

Need help troubleshooting why I can't convert word docs to pdf on new system.  Had MS XP and now Win 7.  Adobe Acrobat 8 is common program for conversion.  HELP!

Acrobat uses Word to do the conversion. So the version of Word must be compatible with the version of Acrobat. Saving as an older DOC does not help that.
You can still print from Word to Adobe PDF, but not use PDFMaker if Acrobat and Office are not compatible. We can't say whether they should be because you haven't told us the version of Word, but see this page for a list of compatible versions Compatible web browsers and PDFMaker applications

  • Docs with prompts can schedule to WebI, not Excel, pdf or CSV

I have built Custom Access levels but am having problems with scheduling.
I believe I have given the correct rights in the CAL, but even the standard "Schedule" access level gives this error:
Sorry, you do not have the right to 'Add objects to the folder' (ID: 1) for 'reportname' (ID: 86429). Please contact your administrator if you require this right.
This happens for Excel, PDF and CSV formats. WebIntelligence is fine.
I have checked half a dozen reports in different folders a number of times and results are the same.
    - Users with Schedule rights can refresh reports to webi format
    - Users with Schedule rights can refresh reports WITHOUT prompts to excel / pdf /csv
    - Users with Schedule rights can NOT refresh reports WITH prompts to excel / pdf /csv
To get Excel, PDF and CSV files created, I have to give "Add objects to folder" access which allows users to save documents which is not wanted for this role.
It is also not a right granted in the standard "Schedule" role.
Have added user group with Full Control at root level over all applications and all other folder trees including Temporary Storage, no change.

  • Can't send Word or Excel Documents from my mail account.

    Hi
I'm running on OSX( 10,4,3) and I can't send any Word or Excel documents.
Well what I mean is the person at the receiving end can't open them. They just come up as corrupted documents. I can send RTF.
    Windows friendly is turned on.
If I send a document to myself (even though I created the document myself) I can't open it. (Corrupted Document it says).
If I send it to a PC or MAC user they still can't open it.
If I send it from another e-mail address (Ntl) the same document will open regardless of PC or MAC user.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
    Positive contributions most welcome.
    Cheers

Try selecting/using NTL's SMTP server to send mail with your .Mac account as a test.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for the accounts preferences, select the pop-up to the right of the outgoing (SMTP) server selection.
Select the NTL SMTP server to be used to send mail with your .Mac account. When exiting account preferences, select OK to save the changed setting when prompted.
Using the NTL SMTP server to send mail with your .Mac account will be invisible to all recipients.

  • How can I create an accessible tagged PDF in Illustrator CS6?

I have put alt text on the slices but when I save the file as a PDF it isn't tagged. How can I use these alt tags to make the PDF accessible? How can I tag the text in the Illustrator file so it is tagged in the PDF?

I do wonder why there are instructions on how to add alt tags in Illustrator, and they only work if you create HTML. It sounds like Illustrator is going to be a legacy product in favour of InDesign, if it can't create tagged PDFs with Alt Tags for images. In this case, the Illustrator file is placed in InDesign, so even though InDesign can create tagged PDFs, the tagging doesn't work for placed Illustrator content. So it sounds like we either do the tagging from scratch in Acrobat, as you say, or we try to bring in the content directly into InDesign and tag it there.
If only Adobe wholeheartedly supported accessible documents so we could more easily use it to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards which are mandatory for our organisation. We are looking at CommonLook software to make the process of creating accessible PDFs easier and quicker. It's just hard to believe the lack of support from Adobe on this. Acrobat doesn't even come close to checking against WCAG 2AA and the online help is very hit and miss and full of broken links. For such an expensive product it's very disappointing, so thank goodness for other companies who see this as an opportunity to provide a better service.

  • How can I create a new excel workbook only with labview

    Hi everyone...
I'm trying to create a new excel workbook only with labview but I can't find the file in the hard disk.
    Someone knows?
    Labview 8,0
    Attachments:
Create new WB with LV.vi ‏18 KB

You are not using the correct mechanism. Pull up the Example Finder in LabVIEW, click on the "Search" tab, and enter "Excel". Look for an example called "Write Table to XL". Use this as a starting point for creating new workbooks and adding data to it.
Note: on disk the example is at <LabVIEW install directory>\examples\comm\ExcelExamples.llb.

  • How can I create sharp screenshots in PDF format?

I would like to create sharp screenshots in PDF format, but whenever I use Grab (Version 1.3(90)) for my screenshots the images turn out to be somewhat fuzzy. The shots that I want to take are of the whole screen, with the browser Safari open, showing webpages with significant detail. I use Grab, and then convert to PDF. I import those files into Latex using TexShop. The images turn out to be fuzzy. If projected on a large screen, I can't read the text in the webpage. It is as if someone with a trembling hand had held a camera at the screen. Is there any way of creating sharp screenshots in PDF? Many thanks for any help.

    Hi tilmat,
first of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
The sharpness of screenshots is limited by the resolution of the screen. A normal CRT-display has a resolution of 72 dpi which is less than half the resolution of 150 dpi you would use for low quality print-outs. So, unless you make the screenshot smaller by a factor of at least 2 it will always be a little blurry.
You can change the format of the screenshots with utilities such as TinkerTool.

  • How can you create a multi-page pdf document in photoshop elements 13?

I previously had pse 11 and was able to create multi-page documents as pse files. However, pse 13 does not allow. How can I create multi-page pdf files from pse 13?

Alas, for one of those mysterious adobe reasons, it's gone in recent versions. Only multipage file you can make is a photobook.

  • RH8 error:  Can't import word document or PDf

I just upgraded from RH7 to RH8.  I am running Win7 64bit.   I also opened RH HTML, which is what I used in RH7.  I have a relative small project and I am trying to import a new word document into the current project.  I am now trying to upload a word document.  When I first open the current project, RH8 asked me to convert to new format and I clicked yes.  Here are my steps to upload a word document:
    click on file
Click on Import Word Doc (I've tried Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft Word 2007, Adobe PDF 9)
The Content Setting popup comes up; I've clicked Next.
    Then clicked Finished.
Then an error comes with Word:
If I do a pdf:  I get this error:
Thank you for any help you can give.

    Hey,
Sorry for the delay in response. We would like you to kindly verify a few things:
Are you facing the issue consistently with any word doc you try to import?
Is this browser specific? Please try the same with any browser other than the one you have already tried with. If so kindly report the browser and its version info
Is this system specific? If yes please include the information of the OS and it's version.Have you tried the same from a different machine.
The flash player version you are currently using?
Hope these  n questions don't seem overwhelming but this would be really helpful for us in isolating the issue. Thanks for the patience.
Regarding your other question: All the following documents are free form documents as of now , with no special formatting:
    Logline
    Character-bio
    Pitch
    Research
    Summary
    Synopsis
    Other document
Do you suggest some standard formatting for these?
Your suggestions are welcome. They aid us in getting better

  • Can't download word docs or PDF's from Google Docs

I cannot download word docs or pdf's from Google docs.  I can download MP3's.
I get an error message saying IE can't find the website.
The google docs forum response to this problem was to uninstall the current version of Flash and install Flash 10.1  I'd like to try this suggestion but don't know how to implement the procudure or where to find Flash 10.1 and choose which version of it to install
What is the best way to do that?
I currently have Flash Player 10.3.181.14 installed
    I use IE Ver 8.0.6001.1870
And Windows XP pro version 5.1.2600 SP 3 Build 2600
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer

I cannot quite understand how Google Docs is related to Flash Player.  But anyway, to revert to an earlier Flash Player version
    downoad the FP uninstaller from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html and save it to disk;
    download the archived FP 10.1 installers from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html and save it to disk;
    close all browser instances, then run the downloaded uninstaller;
extract the latest 10.1 installer (ActiveX for IE, plugin for other browsers) and run it.
Don't hesitate to ask again if my instructions are not clear.

  • Can we create Multi Tabbed excel Sheet using Crystal Reports 2008

    Hi,
We want to create a Crystal Report which will export the output as multiple Tab's ( we can use sub reports).  Can we create a Multi Tabbed excel Sheet using Crystal Reports 2008 ( not  Crystal reports Basic 2008). Please share any information/links on how to do that.
Also if it is not supported please let us know which version supports it.
    Thanks,
    Vasu

At least one of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports Desktop Scheduling tools listed at: http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html provides that functionality.  It allows you to burst a single report so that each Group at level 1 becomes a separate tab.  You can control the tab names (and tab colors) via fields/formulas inside the report.
You can also automate the process of exporting to (and also replacing or appending to) specified tabs inside existing workbooks.
