Can't discover VM server in OVM
Hi,
Test environment, as per this doc
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/vm/template-1482544.html
Running the above OVMs on virtual box version 4.2.10
OVM is version 3.1.1.365
Can ping each machine fine.
When I go to OVM and try add the VM server, get this error:

There are multiple areas of authentication. If I remember correctly the Vbox Oracle VM Manger machine has a good read me with all the passwords. I remember it being an abnormally large icon on the desktop.
I thought it was a pretty well done way to learn.

The net is that the initial support for Oracle VM Manager with Oracle VM Server for SPARC only supports NFS for repository (and virtual disks). A later release will permit virtual disks from FC SAN, iSCSI, and local disk as well as NFS. The linked not provides more information and a link to beta code. regards, Jeff -
OVM Manager 3.1.1 can't discover one of the servers
Hi,
I have a weird problem with one of our OVM3 servers. Due to "System is initializing ..." errors I had to delete and recreate the OVM Manager DB. The operation went smoothly but after a restart I'm only able to discover one of the servers (soaovm2). We actually have each of the servers in a separate pool (self-tough best practice if you plan to use RAC on the VMs). So, as mentioned the second server was discovered just fine (with pool and everything) but the first server is refusing to get discovered:

I have tried every possible trick there is (delete discover_hardware.lock, delete agent db) as well as made sure communication works ok both ways (can connect to soaovm1:8899 from manager as well as ovmmgr:7001 from server, passwords double-checked) but nothing helps. I still get the same error. My suspicion is this has something to do with the one-node cluster pool the server is (was?) in. It seems to be working ok but I can't stop it:

I would appreciate any ideas here (preferably ones which wouldn't require rebooting guest VMs ...) as I have no clue what to try next.I ran into this issue. The fix for me was to restart the ovm manager (so on the ovm manager I ran "/etc/init.d/ovmm restart") and then I restarted the ovs-agent on the host. So I did "/etc/init.d/ovs-agent restart".
If you need to you can reset the ovs agent password from the host by issuing "ovs-agent-passwd oracle <password>".

I have just managed to install OVM 3.0.2, I have only one server and one manager, my server have some free space I want to use to stora images, templates, etc. How do I add that as a file server?
When trying from Storage-Register File Server it fails. I'm probably doing something really stupid but I'm note sure where to look so if anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very happy.

Some wireless clients can't discover or connection to local wired systems
Hi,
I've just upgraded my home wireless from an NetComm NB5540 + modem to a LinkSys X3000.
Internet access works fine for all devices, but some wireless devices can't "see" my Win7 desktop system that's on a wired connections to the router.
I've tried three devices...
Galaxy Note phone (running ICS 4.0.4) can discover and connect to file shares on my desktop system without any problems.
Asus Transformer Prime tablet (running JellyBean 4.1.1) can see the router on the local network, but can't see my desktop. Even if I manually type in the IP address it can't connect to it
Likewise my old WinXP laptop can see the router but can't see or connect to any other devices.
Any suggestions welcome.

ps. I tried connecting the NetComm router with just Wifi configured to one of the ethernet ports on the X3000, so I've got two Wifi networks running in parallel. If I connect to this second WiFi network with any of the above devices then they can all discover and connect to my desktop system on the wired connection to the X3000.Just to test network connectivity, why don't you ping the wired client from the wireless devices that are not able access it? Do post your results so we can further analyze this scenario. By the way, when you cascaded another access point (using the NetComm router) to the X3000, was it via LAN- LAN? Was the X3000 still the DHCP server for the wireless clients?

Unable to register file server in OVM 3.0.1
I'm stuck on attempting to register a fileserver in VM Manager 3.0.1; When I go to register a new file server, the "Storage Plug-in" drop-down is blank. What can I do to dig into this? Nothing about this is covered in the documentation...

I have a very odd problem. After an clean install of Lion Server 10.7.2 i can't access my server from server.app or Server admin?

Anybody theres have a clue??As root go to /System/Library/LaunchDaemons and edit com.apple.servermgrd.plist and change the "Disabled" boolean to "<true/>". Then say:
launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.servermgrd.plist
For some reason that I have not discovered yet the system keeps changing the bool back to "false" on occasion.

Safari can't connect to server problem (just one website)
After I upgraded my mac about a week ago, I can't open a particular website using my home wifi (Safari can't connect to server) It lets me open page but one, which happens to be my mail website. However, when I use a public wifi, I can open that website without any problem. Any ideas why this happens?

I was able to connect to all my unavailable sites. Can you help me discover what is preventing my access when not in Recovery mode. I Made the Safari preferences match the recovery mode Safari preferences so that doesn't seem to be the problem.

You would have to configure Static NAT from DMZ to INSIDE for the server in the same way you have done for DMZ to OUTSIDE.
Basically in the following way for example
object network DMZ-WEB
host 192.168.1.1
nat (dmz,inside) static 101.100.1.2
This would enable your users on the "inside" to access the "dmz" server with the public IP address. And naturally only with the public IP address after this NAT.

Since upgrading to Firefox 27.0 some webpages will not load when I click on them. It gives me a message saying that Firefox can't find the server. I have to click the link several time before it will load and sometimes when they do load it does not show the page right. It is like the HTML is messed up or something. I have tried everything I can think of. I started in safe mode, still did it., I removed add-ons, still did it., I reset Firefox and still did it., I completely uninstalled Firefox and re-installed Firefox and it still does it. I have tried Malware Bytes Anti-Malware scans and Avast boot-time scans and found no malware or viruses. I have found that those websites open the first time with no problems on my IE9 and they used to do so in Firefox 26.0. I'm at my wit's end. The website links are in my bookmarks and are used all the time so they are trusted and my avast is set to allow them. They range from news websites to gun websites and everything I have read says that Mozilla does not filter those unless something has changed recently.

I updated to Ilife08....I went to iweb and added some pages to the site....i published the pages...I got the announce your site message...I did that....I then went to visit site and I got Safari can’t find the server.Safari can’t open the page “http://www.michaelcarlucci.com/Mickeyt” because it can’t find the server “www.michaelcarlucci.com”. I have tried everything and I cant publish anything...I tried adding a site and copying the old pages to it...that did not work...I tried changing the site name ...that didn't work....when I open Iweb...everthing is there...but when i go to publish...it will do everthing and send me the announce and visit...but when i go to visit...i still get the same message...+*ok...I give up....*+and to top it all off the pictures look aweful...they are super saturated in reds....so what i want to do is throw it all out and start over...and hopefully it will get me back to where I began...I copied everything in the site folder and put it in a file on my desk top....but this was after I had all the trouble...everythingseems to be there though...but I am not sure if I would know if anything is missing....the domain was changed from domain to domain 2...so I guess the up grade worked....

"Safari can't open the page because it can't find the server"
I just bought my iPhone. The first time I attempted to log onto my home wireless network (US Robotics Wireless Router) the iPhone performed perfectly. However, the next time I attempted to logon and surf it gave me the "Safari can't open the page because it can't find the server" error message. I tried a variety of things which didn't work. I called the Apple Tech Support. Turning off the router and rebooting it was the only thing that worked. I thought my problem was resolved because after cycling the router the iPhone worked great once again. But . . . later the same day I attempted to connect to the router and the same thing happened and I got the error message. I attempted to power cycle the router just like before but this time it did not work! Help! Bad router? Wrong settings on router or iPhone?
Do you have other wireless devices connected to this same router? Do they work?
I really can't help you much but to say that when my router exhibited this issue it was accross the board (all notebooks would connect immediately following a router restart, but would loss connectivity until I rebooted the router again). In my case the only solution that was permanent was to replace the router.
You may also try restarting the phone and the router, setup security - WEP - (or disable security) on the router and phone, and/or try a different wi-fi channel (may actually help). -

I use static ip-adresses on my home network with a WEP 128bit security. I have entered all configuration that I enter under tcp/ip properties on my but there is one property on the touch that I don't recognise from my PC and that is someting that translated could be named "Search Domains". It's the last property under the static wireless config tab.I have no idea what I am doing... but once i changed the proxy (HTTP) my life is just miserable, no sites open, like its really annoying. Do you know how to fix it.
