Can't do anything because of error -42408?
I keep getting an error message "42408." I can't sync my iPhone to my iTunes library because of it. I can't even authorize or deauthorize my computer from iTunes. Please help!
(I don't know if this is relevant but my whole family had problems with authorization for iTunes (all our computers use the same iTunes account). My dad also downgraded from iTunes 11 to 10 and also gets this error message.)
These alerts might occur when trying to authorise iTunes or during launch when iTunes checks for authorisation information.
Install the latest iTunes.
Remove the SC Info folder.

If it were me, I'd get a new hard drive or SSD and put it in an external enclosure. Boot into the recovery partition, format the new drive (not the old one) and install the OS to it. Shut down the Mac, open it up, and swap the drives. You may be able to read your data from the old one externally if you're lucky. If you're very lucky you may be able to use Migration Assistant to move all your stuff to the new drive.
Look at ifixit.com for the exact procedure to get to the drive on your model. If it's a unibody it's pretty simple.

I am having some serious issues with firefox to the point of choosing another search engine. I can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and won't let me change it to my printer when i do try to select my printer it jumps right back to fax. The drop down menus do not work on any of the sites I go to. For example when purchasing clothes and you have to choose a size from a drop down menu I can't do it when I click on the drop down menu it doesn't work at all. I don't have a virus I ran my virus protector and no viruses are present. I don't have any suspicious issues going on with my computer so there has to be something in Firefox that is causing my issues. I tried internet explorer and I don't have any issues there. I hope you can help me because I love Firefox and would really like to continue to use it.
Lots of issues there, main one getting fcpx going again, try deleting the preferences using the utility deveoped by these guys.

Again, this only affects you if someone *redownloaded* content with a different ID. In my case, I emailed iTunes Store support, explained the situation, and they reset the counter. I recommend you try the same
If you read discussion boards, this is a significant change from a year ago, when Apple told people in the same situation to go f&$# themselves. Clearly it's dawning on them that this is a stupid policy, and my guess is if people keep complaining they'll change it to something more reasonable. Remember, it wasn't that long ago you couldn't re-download content at all.
Apple can't really afford to play hardball on this. Sure, the hardcore fanboys will always say "Thank you sir, may I have another" whatever Apple throws at them, but the rest of us will just switch to Amazon, which has none of these restrictions. -

I am having the SAME exact problem! Except instead of lock button broken it's my home button so I can't do the whole "put in recovery mode" deal. My screen only says "tap the home button 3 times" and it has my screen locked until I hit the home button but since it is broken I can't get in my phone at all. I have all of my work info in my phone so I'm screwed and can't get any help. PLEASE let me know if you find a way around this...!!!

If you can't remember your rescue email address (and seeing the reset link via steps 1 to 5 on this page doesn't help you remember it) then you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get the questions reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'

Hi, when I was in US I opened mi account in ITunes and now that I am living in other country I hadn’t change the billing address of my credit card or mi country in my account and etc… I can’t do anything because I can change mi country somebody can help me? What country are you in now ? You can only use the store in the country where you currently are, so if you are no longer in the US then you can't use the US store.
If you are now in the country where your credit card is registered are you not able to change the address on your iTunes account to that address e.g. via the Store > View My Apple ID menu option on your computer's iTunes, or by tapping your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores on your iPhone 5 ? -

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I don't see -23 on this support site, but this is what it says about error code 23. It can't hurt to try these suggestions.
