Can't downlaod iTunes on Mac 10.5.8

Hello
I'm trying to download iTunes 10.7 on my mac 10.5.8 but it's saying>> This software requires Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later. Is that it then? Will I not be able to sync my iphone 5??
Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
iTunes 10.7 needs OS X 10.6.8 or newer. First, see if your computer is supported > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575 Buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard Then, make a backup, insert the DVD and upgrade. Finally, open  > Software Update and update to the latest version

  • Suddenly can't access iTunes store (Mac)

Hi! For no apparent reason, I can no longer access the iTunes store. I changed nothing about my internet or its security settings and as of yesterday, I get an error message whenever I try to access the store. I have OS X 10.2.8 and can find no iTunes upgrades that will work with this operating system. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me! Thanks!!

That the store might be busy and to try again later or check my internet connection. I've been doing both.

  • IPhone no longer can sync with iTunes on Mac Intel Mini

I have an original iPhone (not 3G). It was working fine until today. Today when I booted my mac mini, Software update said that there was an iTunes update. I downloaded and installed version 8.2 of iTunes. When I connected my iPhone to my mac mini (Intel running 10.4.11), which is what I use to sync my iPhone, iTunes didn't see it. It was as if the iPhone wasn't connected to the mac.
I thought maybe it was the cable. So, I switched cables. It still didn't sync (or even see the iPhone).
I have been charging my iPhone using a wall adapter, so I tried both cables with the wall adapter. The iPhone charged just fine using both cables.
I used the cables and tried to sync my iPod Classic (120GB) with iTunes. I can sync my iPod Classic with iTunes just fine with either cable.
I have an 17" Powerbook G4 running 10.5.7 and I thought I'd try to see if it could see the iPhone. The Powerbook is running iTunes 8.1.1, I haven't upgraded it yet. I was able to see the iPhone and I could try to sync, but the iPhone isn't sync'ed with that iTunes library so the sync doesn't do anything, but at least the Powerbook sees the iPhone and connects with it (and iTunes sees the iPhone as well).
I'm upgrading to iTunes 8.2 to see if the Powerbook can still see the iPhone (just seeing if it was the iTunes upgrade that broke the iPhone sync). Well, the upgrade on the powerbook didn't seem to hurt its ability to see the iPhone.
I'm back at square one. My mac Intel mini running 10.4.11 can't see my iPhone and nothing I do seems to help it see the iPhone, but I can sync my ipod classic using the same cable.
I'm now wondering if there is something wrong with the iPhone. Has anyone else seen this problem?

Sometimes a glitch can happen with an itunes upgrade that can cause itunes to no longer recognize your iphone. If you have already tried to restart your computer and tried different usb ports, I would try this:

    Hope it helps
Your only removing the outer software so it shouldn't affect your itunes libraries or files.

If you aren't willing to upgrade your MacOS to something newer than about 5 years old, then consider using BootCamp and Windows, then use a Windows version of iTunes.
I personally recommend considering the MacOS update.  I have heard reports that if you call Apple on the phone, you might be able to purchase an upgrade to Snow Leopard for $30.  You could always find a friend who has a Mac with Snow Leopard or newer, and sign onto the Mac App store using your ID (but their computer) to buy a license for Lion or Mountain Lion, then after downloading it, use the Lion disc maker to make a bootable USB key to install the newer (and only $30) OS on your hardware.  With that, you would then qualify to run iTunes 10.7 or even iTunes 11.

  • I can't update itunes with Mac OSX 10.5.8

I upgraded to a Iphone 5 and tried to back up my Iphone 4. I was told I needed to upgrade to the most recent version of I-Tunes. I downloaded it and it told me that it wasn't compatible with my operating system. Now I can't back up my IPhone 4 so I can transfer the data to my new Iphone 5. Any suggestions besides upgrading my operating system?
    Thank you!

    Rgarner,
Make sure you have the latest iOS version on your phone! If you dont have an iCLOUD account... Set one up!
Theyre FREE! once you do that, make sure youre connected to a wifi network(will go faster) and back up your phone to ICLOUD. There no longer is a need for you to back up your phone to a desktop unless your just hellbent on doing so. The Cloud is awesome. If you were to lose or have your phone stolen or it just dies and your away from home youre hosed right? Well only if you just back up to your desktop. If your backed up to the cloud you can get the info to your new phone from anywhere in the world, relatively speaking. Also you have access to findmyiPhone.
ps. Almost forgot. You only need lion if you want to sync your desktop to the cloud. I e. your phone updates icloud, your desktop updates icloud, icloud updates both your phone and desktop. The desktop is about to become irrelevant! pshaw.

  • Can't open iTunes on Mac

Long story... but to make this easy.. reverted back to Leopard (10.5.8) on iMac (by adding a partition,  SL is on the other side.)
Itunes on iMac is giving me this error message: "Quicktime 7.7 is required to open iTunes"   I have the 7.2.1 version.
Where do I get that?  I ran software update, but it says I am "up to date."

If it says it needs 7.7 and you have 7.2.1 then you need 7.7+ (which is newer than 7.2).
Many people use Software Update to tell them what they need but then go the more reliable route of downloading from Apple and installing themselves.

  • Can't downlaod iTunes.

I don't have iTunes on my PC and it won't download. I have tried several times and I have updated my computer. Help!

If you have difficulty downloading the iTunes setup file try; unticking the "Keep me up to date..." box, clearing your browser's cache, changing pop-up blocker settings, using an alternate browser, or using these direct links:

  • How to get iTunes and Mac OS 10.5 to leave my file organization alone

I’ve organized my MP3 files for iTunes (using Mac OS 10.5.6) on a MacBook Pro. I did this manually since I have over 600 folders and thousands of song files. iTunes had created a mess. For example some albums were split up into different artists, composers or album names. Some files names began with a space or a dash, so they were our of alphabetical order. There were all kinds of nonsence with duplicated files etc. Once I got things all cleaned up and orderly I tried to make a backup of the master list by copying the files to a peripheral hard drive. The backup folders instantly reverted and even compounded the chaos that I had just fixed! If I delete all files from iTunes and reimport I end up with the same mess. How can I get iTunes and Mac OS 10.5 to leave my organization the way I want it and not revert to the old mess?

    I don't understand.
If you uncheck *Copy files to iTunes music folder...* and *Keep iTunes music folder organized*, iTunes will not mess with the files unless you are RIPping them from CD using iTunes.
How do I change the tags so they are organized the way I want.
I don't know how you want them organized.
iTunes uses the tags and puts them into Artist/Album folders based on the ID3 tags.
If you are not using iTunes to organize stuff and simply naming things as you want, tags are irrelevant to how you put the files into folders and what you name the files.
When I copy the master list (with my organization) from one peripheral drive to another the files show up with the old names and folders.
    Okay.

  • Can't download itunes 11.1 on Microsoft 7

Who else can't downlaod iTunes 11.1 w/ ios7 on microsoft windows w/o error messsages, missing files messages etc?

One has nothing to do with the other.
iTunes 11.x was required if you wanted to use iTunes and update an iPad.
I'd look in iTunes and iPad forums.

  • How can i play iTunes on apple tv from my mac?  i used to have an icon that synced the two but i can't find that icon anymore

how can i play iTunes on apple tv from my mac?  i used to have an icon that synced the two but i can't find that icon anymore

If you are using the 2nd or 3rd gen Apple TV (little black box) then it would have no syncing or storage capability.
iTunes content would be accessed using home sharing.

  • ITunes for Mac don't recognize my Apps (copied since PC). How can I sync my iPhone with my new mac?

    Hi,
i'm new with Mac, and i Have a doubt..
I read that to transfer itunes information (apps mainly) since PC to MAc, you just had to copy the itunes folder and paste it in Mac (Music)..
wel.. i did that, but then when I opened iTunes in Mac, it didn't recognize any application.. and I don't know why...
searching and exploring, I realized something...
the folder where my apps were in PC was Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile applications..
and, searching on internet, i look that all the people said that in Mac, the folder is Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications..
could be this the problem that i Have????
if I change all my apps from one side to another, could itunes recognize it??
thank you very much for your help.

The Apple store will move your content from your old computer to your new one.
You can call Apple Support and they will walk you through it.
You can type " move itunes library from pc to mac" into the google search bar.
