Can't Include First Line of XML

Hey Guys,
I'm working with the XML object and am receiving an error on
my XML when I include the typical first line of a standard XML
file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
I receive the following error in FF:
Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity
Source File:
http://localhost/public/test.jsp?file=test.xml
Line: 3, Column: 1
Source Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
If I remove that line, the file loads, but shouldn't that
line be there? I'm worried I'll run into a different error down the
road by not having this line of code in the XML.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

This line of the error may be pointing to the issue. If the
<?xml ?> tag is present it is supposed to be the first line
of the file. This message indicates that it is on line 3. Some
server languages inject empty lines as part of their processing,
perhaps your JSP is doing that, or perhaps you simply have a couple
of empty lines above the opening xml tag.

  • Include command line args in executable jar?

    Hello all,
    I'm trying to package up some software which takes 2 command line args to run (for example, java -jar prog.jar FooBar 3.14159). I'm using a utility called Jar2Exe to wrap it up into an exe (still needs JRE to run, but it's nicer packaging for distribution).
    My question is, how can I included command line arguments in the jar? Or can I? Or, are there any exe-wrapping utilities out there that will allow me to accomplish this?
    Thanks,

    -ThokOkay, did some more research... It appears you can't specify command line options in a jar, but if you package it into an exe, you can--depending on what utility you use to wrap it, that is. I downloaded a free one (Launch4j) and it does the trick.

  • I am editing an e book. How do I delete a first line indent?

    In a 'Pages' e-book, how can I delete first-line indent on every paragragh?

    Use can use an intro media image. The first time the ibook is open it will start with that page. However, remember that any other time the ibook is open it will show the last page viewed. This is a behavior that can't be changed.

One of these kind of requirement is discussed in this thread, you can see whether its the same in your case or not. If not then tell your complete req. so that somebody can help you out here.

  • Parse xml cannot handle first line of " ?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use applescript to parse a few element values from an xml file. It only works if the xml file does NOT have an "<?xml...?>" entry on the first line. The production xml files I use will always have the <?xml...?> entry on the first line. I need to know how to code around it.
    Here are two sample files. The first does NOT work, the second DOES work. The only diff is the <?xml...?> line in the first sample.
    Sample 1:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>
    <alldata>
    <valuea>a</valuea>
    <valueb>b</valueb>
    <valuec>c</valuec>
    </alldata>
    Sample 2:
    <alldata>
    <valuea>a</valuea>
    <valueb>b</valueb>
    <valuec>c</valuec>
    </alldata>
    Here's my simple script:
    set theXML to "path:to:folder:alldata.xml"
    tell application "System Events"
    tell XML element 1 of contents of XML file theXML -- root element
    set value_a to (value of XML element "value_a")
    end tell
    end tell
    The error returned when using the first file format is:
    error "System Events got an error: Can’t get XML element \"value_a\" of XML element 1 of contents of XML file \"ath:to:folder:alldata.xml\"." number -1728 from XML element "value_a" of XML element 1 of contents of XML file "path:to:folder:alldata.xml"
    Any feedback is appreciated.
    NOTE: I am not able to use any third party xml tools for this. This script must use default xml tools, e.g., "System Events". Thanks.

    Your first script example works for me. I don't know what you are using to create the data file, but one thing to look at would be to make sure the actual file encoding matches your encoding declaration, and that it is plain text.

  • Can I set it to have no bullet/blue icon for first line on Outline view?

    Goodgrief... After finally figuring out (kind-of) how to place my bullet points with hotkeys, 6 hours later I have iWork 09 with a great outline view! HA!
    Outline will be great if it is customizable. I need the first line to be set at a "normal" margin, and then from there on the tab is increased indents and bullets.
    How can I set it so that when I "shift-tab" enough it returns to the left margin and remains, with procedeing "enter" clicks, and the outline/bullets begin with the FIRST TAB indent?
    THanks!!!!!!!
    Also: can we change the default blue bullets to the same options with bullets in general?

    Hi, we're mixing two different ideas I had. The first idea was to hide certain columns automatically in the same table when I entered print view. The second idea was to create a second table on a separate sheet that automatically replicated the values in the columns from the first table, I just wouldn't make columns for the things I wanted to hide.
    Problem was, with the second idea, I only want to use as many rows as is needed for each quote. I'd like to start each table with just one row, and each time I add a row in the first table, I'd like the second table to automatically add a row.
    This isn't really a crisis (I could just make the second table with 100 rows and delete the unused ones), but my technically-challenged boss is using it, and it would be nice if it worked exactly the way our FileMaker system works.

  • Remove xml first line from generated VO xml

    I'm combining multiple xml file to generate report using BIPublisher. I generated xml based off of a VO using VO.writeXML. How do I remove first row (<?xml version="1.0"?>) in the xml?

    use Transformer and set setOutputProperty to omit first line.
    Transformer transformer = TransformerFactory.newInstance().newTransformer();
    transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.OMIT_XML_DECLARATION, "yes");

  • Hi, when typing an email the font on the first line is different then the second, can you help fix this

    Hi, when typing an email the font on the first line is different then the second, can you help fix this

    I can offer suggestions, but I can not fix it.
    Press enter three or four times before you start typing and then move the cursor back to the start. What happens is your point of insertion gets outside your predefined font range, it is a know bug and that will help you "stay in the lines" Another option is type Rick, go back to the start and then type your message. Anything which keeps the insertion point from the very end of the email really.

  • Can't get rid of first line indent

    I am fairly new to InDesign. I have a text box in which I want to have 3 centered tabs. The first line, whether tabbed to 1st tab stop or not, is indented approximately 1/2 inch. No indent displays in the paragraph format window or in the tab stops window. I have deleted my preferences. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Checkt the text frame indents
    Use the arrow tool to select the text frame - and then right click (cmd click on mac) and go to Text Frame Options in the context menu that pops up.
    Make sure the indents are set to zero.

  • RFFOCA_T: DME with file descriptor in first line (RBC)

    Hi All,
    I've customized the automatic payment run for a company located at Canada - including generated DME- file by the report RFFOCA_T. The DME file looks good - but sadly the house bank (RBC, Royal Bank of Scotland) is expecting two things different:
    "Different formats now exist for the Royal Bank and CIBC from the default CPA-005 specification.
    u2022 Type 'A' and 'Cu2019 records have been modified to handle RBC and CIBC
    u2022 A parameter was added to job submission to request the bank type
    This process has been revised to include two headers as part of the tape_header code segment.
    u2022 The first header must be the first line in the file and appear in the following format: $$AAPDCPA1464[PROD]NL$$
    u2022 The second header (positions 36 to 1464) must be filled with blanks, not zeros"
    (taken from "SCT Banner, Finance, Release Guide - January 2005, Release 7.0")
    In our DME-file the second header (position 36 to 1464) is correct, but the first header is completely missing.
    RBC wrote me in an email:: "The first line of the file needs the file descriptor ($$AAPDCPA1464[PROD]NL$$). The date format and the client number is correct. When the $$ file descriptor has been added please upload the TEST file":
    I could not find any solution at SAP/ OSS - can anybody help, please?
    Thanks a lot!
    Sandra.

    Hi Revi,
    I'm not sure if I understand you in the right way.
    I do not have a problem only with the $$ at the beginning. The whole first expected line as the file descriptor is missing. As we saw in the report code, it's not considered. At least I hope, there is a simple solution - like an update or else - but maybe we need to enlarge the report itself by a programmer?
    Thanks,
    Sandra

    Hi Suneel,
    I hardly can't believe that. There must be an mistake by your own in the smartform itself. Would you please share some screens or better, the smartform-XML itself. You can pass out everything else and just share the table and a dataset to try this.
    I'm pretty sure that there is something wrong with the settings or even the loop itself. I never faced a problem like that or even heared about such things.
    I would love to have a look inside.
    Before you share it, create a new one with just the table inside and try it with the same data. Perhaps it is just of to much folders or something like that, so the generating comes in trouble.

    Just copy the code below and execute . I just checked and found the exact values on attachment with no blank lines. This is more simple than the one u have written , just include ur data upload logic . For ITAB values to be attached i have written a simple logic to retrive from EKPO. Just copy this code and execute. u will understand then.
    I understand that ur initial requirement was to attach the file directly and not to upload and attach. If u still want to go for the old requirement then check out the code(2nd program of the two that i have sent) that i have sent u on ur previous post.

  • File Sender adapter not reading the first line

    Hi,
    I have a scenario configured from file to jdbc adapter.
    However, I found a problem in my file sender adapter. My file adpater always not picking up the first line from my text even I have set the 'Document Offset' to 0.
    Any Ideas? Thanks.
    Regards,
    Pua

    Hi Latika Sethi,
    My complete input text file is as below, it contains only 2 testing records:-
    H1|DIZ1                          |A0016507    |10000020|09/2007
    H2|ABC0001
    D|P|0001|Gaji Pokok       |   1,000.09
    D|D|0002|Denda              |   1,000.00
    D|P|0003|Elaun               |   1,000.00

    D|D|0002|Denda              |   2,000.00
    D|P|0003|Elaun               |   2,000.00
    After the message mapping, I found the pipeline existed in sxmb_moni as below:-

    .. </Details>
    </Payslip>
    There are 2 payslips as for the top payslip node...Header1 tag is missing. It means that during the file sender step....the first line of my record which is :-
    "H1|DIZ1                          |A0016507    |10000020|09/2007"
    is not read into the xi pipeline. Basically this is the problem i faced.
    Has somebody facing the same problem before? Currently I have no choice but moved the First line of the text into Second line and left the first line of the text become null/ empty line. As such both records can be successfully read by the XI.
    However what I wondered is sometimes clients will do insert the records into the first line and this might made some data loss.
    Thanks...

  • Can i include external usb drives in Time Machine backups

    Can I include external usb drives and sticks in Time Machine backups?
    This was the question I searched a week for. My machine is a MBAir with Yosemite. I have a bunch of USB HD and sticks. This is a sharing of what it took to solve. I lost a couple of important document revisions lately because of not having differential backups on them, so wanted to include them in Time Machine.
    Yes it can, I found. But it's a wee bit backwards. And apparent inconsistencies drive you crazy. Time Machine is supposed to do this by default, and wants you to tell it what NOT to include. Trouble is, formats create many troubles.
    But the USB sticks and HD's you buy are PC formatted. And you'd like to share, as the Apple does with FAT16, FAT32, and exFAT (to overcome the 4G size limit on the others). Even NTFS can be plugged in and be read-only. Turns out you just can't incorporate into TM backups.
    Open Time Machine Options, and look at the drives listed in the exclusion window. Drives that you know to be plugged in and registered by Finder, may or not be registered in the exclusion window, and if registered and their icons may be bright or dimmed. Bright will NOT be included. Dimmed are excluded. Normally the operation is to use the or to exclude these drives from your next BU operation. (this instruction is lost the next time in manual mode). So if a drive or stick is shown and is bright it WON'T be backed up. If you it from the window, then it will grey out and WILL be backed up. If it's not there to offer you exclusion, you can browse to such a file or device so you can exclude it. TM's exclusion window will show the PC formats: FAT16, FAT32, and exFAT greyed out (as not included). NTFS is bright looking like it might work, but when    doesn't dim, it disappears, and is ignored in the actual BU.
    Sources are supposed to be included in the backup if it isn't shown bright in the exclusion window. In this respect I only use TM manually, and not for programmed BU's, so I cannot speak to that.
    If everything you have is formatted for the Apple disc system (Mac OS Extended) then there are no contradictions or partial equivalences. The mounted disc or stick will show in TM exclusions window, and if you it, you'll see it in the Time Machine pile of calendared directories, with all the files. And of course it will do the differential backups for it that we use TM for in the first place. Just remember to prepare the BU by not excluding.
    BUT NOW THE VARIABLES. It now depends upon the formats. I use the Paragon NTFS program to permit writing NTFS. (Apple can normally read but not write NTFS). Paragon is lovely because for normal computer use, I can read and write both Apple and PC files and disc formats in Finder (for 3 years now). But Time Machine cannot be reached by Paragon so it's NTFS behaviors are outrageous. Paragon reaches Disk Doctor so you can read, write, format and heal both Apple and PC formats. And this really confused things respecting Time Machine. I literally worked through every variable, from stick to disc to prove what did work, and when false appearances of working showed up.
    Respecting that very Time Machine display of Finder windows piled backwards through time there's a confusing bug. When first opened, TM shows NOW as the current setup and works just like a Finder window in present time. And the outboard discs and sticks show as in Finder. BUT working back in time, the left window DOES NOT SHOW THE CONDITIONS AT BACKUP but rather in all left windows shows the present setup. So you need to work from the right hand side dates and times to go back and see when you had that stick or HD plugged in. And then, finally, you will see the files you wanted saved. But if there is a stick on the left than TM doesn't like but Finder likes you'll see it left but nothing will be in the files. Clicking on the pretender just jumps to the root.
    My Disk Doctor provisions (with Paragon) show, Mac OS Extended (Journaled), Mac OS Extended (Case Sensitive Journaled), MS-DOS (FAT), exFAT, Windows NT Filesystem, Windows NT Filesystem (compressed). It's a better utility than in Microsoft and I use it for such maintenance.
    Bottom line, I like TM very much. 2 years ago I lost my air and TM was able to reconstruct my machine many times in the course of the troubleshooting - all the way from the start to the last without ever missing a beat or a file. So I accept this limitation and make copies to another HD formatted in NTFS when I work on PCs.
    Hope's this sorts out being lost in the desert for a few of you.
    Jock

    Storing normal data files on the Time Capsule is unfortunately not as easy as dropping the folder on the Time Capsule.
    Open up Macintosh HD on the Mac
    Look for the SHARED heading on the left
    Click on the Time Capsule icon and a folder named "Data" will appear (unless you have renamed it)
    Double click the "Data" folder to mount the drive on the desktop. You may need to enter the device password for the Time Capsule when you do this the first time
    Once the drive icon is on the desktop, you can drag data to the icon and drop it there. Double click the icon to open up the drive and see the files
