Can't open documents because of a program error (pop-up)

Working in Photoshop i want to open other document, when opening a pop-up appears with the message: Can't execute your request because of a program error.*
I keep on working with: Go to finder en drag the document in photoshop and go on, but it's not what we want.
I updated CC after I updated my mac to Yosemite and think there's something wrong between CC and Yosemite
*(In Dutch: Kan uw verzoek niet uitvoeren vanwege een programmafout.)

Annoying!!
Yeah, but frankly so are posts like yours. Since you have not provided even a shred of technical information like system specs, save options and so on nor bothered to actually explain your issue properly one can only question your motivations to even post here...

How do I Make sure your OS X user account has Read & Write access for the following path:
    /Users//Library/Preferences/Adobe

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details like the actual crash logs. From your description it simply sounds like your graphics hardware is acting up, so update the graphics driver. Likewise, you may simply run out of disk space for the PS scratch file, so check that, too.

  • PSE 5 Error "could not complete the open command because of a program error"

I have been using PSE 5 for years but all of a sudden when I try to open multiple files "could not complete the open command because of a program error" appears.  I have reformatted my computer and reinstalled all programs & updates but still get the error.  I am trying to access photo files in a specific, user created, directory on my computer; the funny thing is that if I access files in the My Documents\My pictures\ Sample pictures folder I am able to open all the files.  Any and all help or suggestions are welcome.  Thanks

When you choose liquify command it says "Could not complete the Liquify command because of a disk error." so nothing at all happens other than the error message
There is plenty of room on my scratch disks --lots of it
Tried using a smaller selection using Marquee Tool to outline a smaller area near where I want to Liquify.  makes no difference.  tried a small file as well.  no ability to use liquify.
    This is really weird.
keep probing the depths of your mac ideas, as I am going a bit nuts with this, friends

  • Can't open documents because says new version of pages is need but I have already updated new version of pages?

I have the new version of pages but can't access any of my old pages Documents as I am prompted to get the new version which I already have.

Check if the older version of Pages is open. If it is, close it, and then try again to open the document. It happened to me a few times and this method worked.

  • I can not open folders from my documents. it closes with notice Could not complete your request because of a program error.

I am trying to open files with Photoshop and I get an error message
Could not complete your request because of a program error.
I have tried to open inmany directions still I get this notice
Could not complete your request because of a program error.
It started when I upgraded to Marverick

Can you open the files in the Finder?

  • Can't open file: "Could not complete your request because of a program error"

I have a Photoshop file that suddenly won't open.  Last week I upgraded to CS5--the file had been created in CS3 prior to that.  When I try to open it, I receive this error message (in CS5): "Could not complete your request because of a program error."  I tried to open the same file in CS3; there, the file opens, but as soon as I try to do anything I get the same error message....which, annoyingly, re-appears the second I click "OK," so the only thing I can do in CS3 is force-quit.
I've used Time Machine to retrieve versions of the file that were saved four days ago, seven days, and several weeks ago, and I get the same message every time.  Even on versions that were last saved with CS3 (before I installed CS5).
Naturally, this is one of the most important files in my life right now....it's a 300 MB file that contains hundreds of layers and dozens of comps.  So the fact that I suddenly can't open it, after shelling out $1200 to upgrade to the latest and greatest Adobe has to offer, is, to say the least, distressing.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Document Creation error - "We're sorry. We can't open document name because we found a problem with its contents"

    Morning Friends,
I have created a SharePoint 2010 "Site Workflow" that is designed to take information from a form and create a Word doc with the gathered information and store this Word doc in a document library.
I am using Sharepoint 2013 with Office 2013
I understand there are a lot of steps (19) outlined below and I can provide more information as needed but the bottom line is this, workflow successfully takes info from an initiation form, uses the info to create a Word doc. Places this Word doc in a library.
When attempting to open / edit doc, receive error
"We're sorry. We can't open <document name> because we found a problem with its contents"
Details - No error detail available.
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Very high level view of what I have done:
1 - Created content type called "Letters"
2 - Added site columns " First Name" and "Last Name"
3 -  Created and saved to my desktop a very basic Word document (Letter.docx) that says "Hello, my name is XXXX XXXX"
4 - In the advanced settings of the "Letters" content type I uploaded this "Letter.docx" file as the new document template.
5 - Created a new document library called "Letters"
6 - In Library Settings - Advanced Settings, clicked "Yes" to enable the management of content types.
7 - Then I clicked "Add from existing content types" and added the "Letters" content type
8 - Back in the advanced settings of the "Letters" content type I selected "Edit Template" and replaced the first XXXX with the Quick Part "First Name" and the second XXXX with the Quick part "Last Name"
    9 - Created a new 2010 Site workflow called "Create a Letter"
10 - To the workflow I added the action "Create List Item"
11 - Configured the action to create Content Type ID "Letters" in the document library "Letter"
12 - For the "Path and Name" I gave it a basic name of "Letter to"
13 - The next step was to create the Initiation Form Parameters and added to form entries "First Name" and "Last Name"
14 - I then linked the initiation form fields to the data source "Workflow Variables and Parameters" to their respective Field from Source parameters
15 - Went back to the "Path and Name" and modified the basic name of "Letter to" to include the first and last name parameters.
16 - Saved - published and ran the work flow.
17 - As expected, Initiation Form prompts for First and Last Name. ("John Doe") Then click "start
18 - Go to document library "Letters" and see a new Word document created titles "Letter to John Doe"
19 - Go to open / edit the Word document and receive the following error
thoughts? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

See this MS support article for SP2010 workflows and generating Word docs:
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2889634/en-us?wa=wsignin1.0
"This behavior is by design. The Create
List Item action in the SharePoint
2010 Workflow platform can't convert Word content type file templates to the correct .docx format."
I've had success in using SP 2013, Word 2013 (saving a .docx as the template instead of .dotx for the document library content type), and an SP 2010 workflow using SP Designer 2013.

  • Can not open photshop CC 2014     ERROR  could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error

    Hi
I can not open Photshop CC 2014
    ERROR
could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error

I've had the same error happen to me.  I deleted the preferences file, updated JAVA, etc.  none of which worked.
I've spent days systematically working to isolate the variable that seems to make Photoshop work one day and "not initialize" the next.  I simply can't afford to stop work when Photoshop doesn't want to initialize due to: PSOWLListenerProxyBaseCocoa.mm : 52 : REQUIRE failed
Apologies, but I REQUIRE YOU TO INITIALIZE!
I think that I've isolated the problem.  I have a dual monitor set-up.  Sometimes I use the second monitor and sometimes I don't, sometimes monitor 2 is powered on and sometimes it's not.  It's really the only thing with any variance on my system.  I disconnected my second monitor.  Then I clicked the Photoshop icon and the program opened...
I am running OS X 10.9 and Photoshop CS 5.1
There appears to be a link between Photoshop not wanting to initialize and Graphics Card / Monitors.

  • I'm can't open documents in iword, and the program also won't shut down properly.

I have been having trouble with pages for a couple of weeks now.  When I try to shut it down, it won't close.  I've tried force quit, but that doesn't work either.  Then, I can't shut down my computer properly either.  Finally, which seems related to me, I suddenly can't open documents that I've typed into word.  Any suggestions?

Did you try a Force Quit?
Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time.
Wait. Force Quit window will appear.
Select Mail and click the Force Quit button
    Wait. Mail will quit.

  • Errors thrown when opening files: "could not complete your request because of a program error"

I have a user on our network that recently had Photoshop CS5 reinstalled. Now when she opens .psd files she is notified to "Update the text layers" on the document. If you press "Update" the error "could not complete your request because of a program error" is thrown. If she clicks "no" then she can't properly edit the text layers on the files. I have reset her preferences files and run the font test script with no luck on either.

There is likely a font on that system that's corrupted or for some reason Photoshop just can't deal with.  Fonts are complex things, and it's well known that bad fonts can crash applications.
Ferreting out such a font is normally a matter of removing all but the default fonts, seeing that the problem is corrected, then adding the fonts back in systematically until the offender is isolated.  Yes, this can be tedious.
If it's not a font problem, there's a possibility it's a display driver problem.  To help diagnose that, go into Edit - Preferences - Performance, disable OpenGL Drawing, then restart Photoshop.  If the problem goes away, you'll want to check the web site of the maker of the video card for driver updates.  Don't forget to re-enable OpenGL Drawing again after updating the driver.
    Good luck.
