Can't publish to Azure Cloud Service from Visual Studio 2013

I have a VS project that I upgraded from VS 2012 to VS 2013. I can run it locally, and had no issues publishing to Azure when I was using VS 2012. When I attempt to publish the upgraded app to an Azure Cloud Service that already exists, I am getting this
error.  Note that I have checked the Service Config files and did a search on the entire solution and can not find any reference to "LocalStorage1" anywhere in the Project or Solution. I have another VS 20113 Project that publishes just fine
to Azure Cloud Service. Any ideas on how to fix this?
PUBLISH ERROR:
Windows Azure could not find the resource LocalStorage1 in the service package. To upgrade the deployment, you must add the resource. Otherwise, perform a new deployment.

That's actually what I meant in my first post. When publishing to a new service, it is fine, because the deployment does not have to compare what is already there (it is a new service, so nothing is there) and what is in your package. But while upgrading
a service, bunch of settings have to match between an existing service and the package you are trying to upload. So the error you got wasn't about you having something extra in your package, but having something extra in your existing service and missing in
the package you were uploading. Hope that helps.
Anyway, please move this question to cloud services forums (this one is for web sites only), as there are experts in that area and they might be able to help you better.
Thanks,
Petr

  • FInding the Reporting Services 2014 Web Service in Visual Studio 2013

    Hello
I am trying to figure out how to Find the webservice for my SSRS 2014 Installation from Visual Studio 2013.
    I looked at this article
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155398.aspx
And it seemed to say I should use:
    http://<machine name>/Reports_<Machine Name>/ReportService2010.asmx?wsdl
I am doing this from the Add Web Reference part of Visual Studio 2013
When I do this I get the error
There was an error downloading 'http://<machine_Name>/Reports_<machine_Name>/ReportService2010.asmx?wsdl/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/$metadata'.
The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.
    Thanks in Advance.
    -Dick

    http://<machine name>/Reports_<Machine Name>/ReportService2010.asmx?wsdl
    Hello Dick,
The second <Machine Name> should be the "<Instance Name>" instead, if you are using a named instance of SSRS. If it's a Default instance, then use simply
    http://<machine name>/Reports/ReportService2010.asmx?wsdl

  • Cannot install Selenium Components for Cross Browser Testing extension from Visual Studio 2013

    Hello,
I am having some issues with installing Selenium Components for Cross Browser testing.  I keep getting this error everytime. Yes, Visual Studio 2013 has been registered with a product key. However, I cannot seem to bypass this error. I tried to install
from http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/11cfc881-f8c9-4f96-b303-a2780156628d and from Tools->Extensions and Updates from Visual Studio 2013. It just does not work. I have a copy of Visual Studio 2013.  Yes, I already have Visual Studio
2012 Ultimate and Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate installed on my machine. What am I missing?

    Hi Antwan,
Please uninstall the VS, then reinstall it.
On the other hand, this issue is in the extension, I suggest that you should post it in
Selenium components for Coded UI Cross Browser Testing site for efficient response. (Q AND A)
    Thanks

  • Publish cloud service fails from Visual Studio 2013 Update 4: Published Asset Entry for Image Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml not found.

I have a cloud service project with two roles (service and worker). In Visual Studio 2013 Update 4 when I choose "Publish..." from the "Solution Explorer",  it opens "Microsoft Azure Activity Log" and quickly terminates.
    Here the log:
9:43:47 AM - Applying Diagnostics extension.
9:44:09 AM - Published Asset Entry for Image Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml not found.
All works fine when uploading the package and updating from https://manage.windowsazure.com/. It only fails from within Visual Studio.
What can I do to get it working?

I have the same problem with our Azure project. Two web roles (service and worker). Just updated from SDK2.2 to SDK2.5 and Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 to Update 4. The main reason behind this was to move from log4net to WAD and in doing so, of course directly
move to the new diagnostics version.
Now, I get the same error message in Visual Studio:
11:45:24 - Checking for Remote Desktop certificate...
    11:45:25 - Applying Diagnostics extension.
11:45:45 - Published Asset Entry for Image Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml not found.
With my small testing project - also two roles (service and worker) - everything is fine. However, I'm looking for a solution to make by existing production service working.
Also the test project shows no Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml,
but this is no problem - so what's the meaning of or solution to this error messages?
    What I found so far:
I deployed the Azure project from the same development environment to another Azure test service: Deployment
showed no errors and the service is running fine! So the problem is not with the source, the development environment, library dependencies etc.
Trying Azure cmdlets for PowerShell also work fine for the new service and fails for the production service with almost the same error message:
    Following http://blogs.msdn.com/b/kwill/archive/2014/12/02/windows-azure-diagnostics-upgrading-from-azure-sdk-2-4-to-azure-sdk-2-5.aspx
    I tried:
    PS C:\> Set-AzureServiceDiagnosticsExtension -StorageContext $storageContext -DiagnosticsConfigurationPath $public_config -ServiceName $service_name -Slot 'Staging' -Role $role_name
VERBOSE: Setting PaaSDiagnostics configuration for MyWebRole.
Set-AzureServiceDiagnosticsExtension : BadRequest : Published Asset Entry for Image
    Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml not found.

        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.WindowsAzure.CloudException,Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Commands.ServiceManagement.
       Extensions.SetAzureServiceDiagnosticsExtensionCommand
The problem seems to be related to those service configuration parts in the cloud which are not replaced
by a new deployment... So what are possible reasons or fixes for this behaviour?

     Andreas

  • Can't update SQL 2014 DB during web publish from Visual Studio 2013

According to Visual Studio 2013 I have "SQL Server Data Tool 12.0.40706.0" installed, which should allow me to update a SQL 2014 database but when I try to publish my web application I get the error: "Web deployment task failed. (Could not
generatedeployment script. Internal Error. The database platform service with type Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.Sql.Sql120DatabaseSchemaProvider is not valid. You must make sure the service is loaded, or you must provide the full type name of a valid database

    service. Learn more at:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=221672#ERROR_EXECUTING_METHOD.)" I can update the database fine if I go into the package managment console and run -UPDATE-DATABASE but I don't want to have to go into myweb.config, update it to point to the production
database, run the update command, and then change my web.config back everytime I try to update my database. What do I have to do to getthis working? I had no problems when I was on an Azure DB.

Actually problem seems to be related when web publish to remote server. I tried local web publish to sql2014 db and it works.
For remote server web publish works to sql 2012 express db but when try with sql 2014 express db on same server get bellow error.
Error message "The database platform service with type Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.Sql.Sql120DatabaseSchemaProvider
is not valid. You must make sure the service is loaded, or you must provide the full type name of a valid database platform service."
Any ideea what may be causing it? I have installed the sql server 2014 express with advanced services x86, exact same version as on my local machine, and also restarted server after install. Need install/configure anything else on server like SSDT 2014 to
    make this work?
    Cheers!

  • Can I downgrade from Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate to VS 2013 professional

Hi have a few licences of Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate  and to keep it in line with our other users who have VS 2010 Pro
Am I ok to downgrade the licence from 2013 ultimate to 2010 pro.
The software hasnt been installed on any PC as yet, its just a case of if licensing allows us to downgrade version and edition

    @Rakesh Borhara,
By the way, the two products are different. If you only bought the key for your Visual Studio 2013, I don't think you can use the same key in Visual Studio 2010.
Anyway, you can consult the license specialists to ask whether there is a account type for you so that you can use both the two products.
    Best regards,
    Barry

  • Can I use ReportViewer 2010 from Visual Studio 2013

    Hi
I wish to use the 2010 version of the ReportViewer control on a Windows form. This is from within Visual Studio 2013. How would I do this?
    Thanks

Good idea. It did allow me add version 2010 to the Toolbox. You can see it as the second ReportViewer in the screenshot below.
But I can't drag it onto a form. It just appears down the end. Any idea why I can't drag it onto the form?

  • Cannot Connect to Azure SQL Database in Visual Studio 2013

    Beyond Frustrated here.
I am trying to connect to an Azure SQL database - it has been created, has tables etc. I am trying to create a new Data Connection from within Visual Studio 2013, latest release for VS and Azure. I continue to receive the following error:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)
I have ensured that TCP is allowed and above Named Pipes in the Configuration Manager. The associated IP address is allowed on Azure Firewall. Certificate has been added to VS etc. But still no connection. I can see the database in the Azure section in Server
Explorer, but cannot add a Data Connection. What is equally as frustrating is I have a MacBook Pro running Win 7 sitting right next to my office computer and it can access Azure fine, not problems.
If anyone has any other ideas on how I might be able to solve this I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.
    Jeff

    Hi,
The Error message "   A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is
configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53) "
The issue comes up mainly because the application is not able to connect to the server.
To resolve this issue, try the following steps (in that order):
Make sure that TCP IP is enabled as a client protocol on the application server. For more information on how to do this, see
Configure client protocols. On application servers where you do not have SQL Server tools installed, you can check this by running cliconfg.exe (SQL Server Client Network Utility).
     2.  Check the application’s connection string to make sure that it is correctly configured. For example, make sure that the connection string specifies the correct port (1433) and the fully qualified server name.
Note You can follow these steps to obtain the connection string from the Azure Management Portal:
                          Log on to the
    Azure Management Portal.
In the left navigation pane, click
    SQL Databases.
Select your Azure SQL Database server.
                          Click
    Dashboard.
On the right side, go to the
quick glance section, and then click Show connection strings.
Test the connectivity between the application server and the Azure SQL database by using a UDL file, ping, and telnet. For more information about how to do this, see
Azure SQL Database connectivity troubleshooting guide and
    Troubleshooting SQL Server connectivity issues.
Note As a troubleshooting step, you can also try to test the connectivity on a different client computer.
Try increasing the connection timeout. Microsoft recommends using a connection timeout of at least 30 seconds.
As a best practice ensure retry logic is in place. For more information about the retry logic, see
Azure SQL Database best practices to prevent request denials or connection termination.
If these  steps do not resolve your problem, follow the below steps to collect more data and contact support:
If your application is a cloud service, enable the logging. This step returns a UTC time stamp of the failure. Additionally, SQL Azure returns the tracing ID.
Microsoft Customer Support Services can use this information.
For more information about how to enable the logging, see
how to enable diagnostic logging for Azure Web sites and Developing SQL Database Applications section in
    Azure SQL Database Development Considerations.

the list of best practices for Connecting to Windows Azure SQL Database.

I don't know of a reason you posted your question in a Visual Basic forum. You should probably find a Visual Studio forum to post your question in.
However I've never tried to do what you want to do. But maybe these links can assist you.
Microsoft Language Interface Packs (LIPs) and Visual Studio
"When you install different language versions of Visual Studio on the same computer, you can only switch languages between matching editions. For example, if you have an English Express Edition installed, a German Express Edition installed, and a Professional

Starting with Visual Studio 2012, the Professional, Premium, and Ultimate products use a unified language pack. To install more than one language version of these products, you must install a full language product first and then install one or more language

  • Problem to publish my azure cloud service

    Hello,
my goal is to deploy an exe on a web service then create a http client (c++) that uses that service. First I began with this tutorial
http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/cloud-services-dotnet-get-started/ then I use this one to run my exe in the worker role
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/331425/Running-an-EXE-in-a-WebRole-on-Windows-Azure.
I was able to run my app on localhost. The worker role excecute the .exe I deployed and the output of my exe are settled in document folder. The problem is when I publish my app, the exe do not work!!!
    any suggestions please?
    thanks.

    Hi sir,
    Thanks for your post.
    Something need to confirm:
1.Did you add some library into your project?
Non .NET EXE : C, C++, etc. If CPP EXE we need to add CPP runtime libraries like
    msvcp100.dll, msvcr100.dll.
2.Did you try to debug your project on cloud service?
You could debug your cloud service on your local, please refer to this tutorials(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/ff683670.aspx ). I think you could share error information
via debug your project for the future support.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Deployment Error from Visual Studio 2013

I have been publishing my Azure web role and worker roles once or twice per week for the last year. 3 days ago I began getting this when publishing from VS:
8:44:19 AM - Checking for Remote Desktop certificate...
8:44:21 AM - Applying Diagnostics extension.
8:45:13 AM - The server encountered an internal error. Please retry the request.
Always the same three lines.  I have tried 20x over the last 3 days.  The only posts I can find that sound related deal with intermittent network issues.  Since this has been going on for 3 days and I see no service issues listed on
http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/status/, I do not think my problem is related to a network issue.
I am able to successfully package from VS, then publish via the Azure web portal.
Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot problems publishing?  Thanks.

    Sowmya,
I opened a support ticket but was told since it did not have to due with billing that they cannot help since I have not paid for technical support.  Is there any way I can troubleshoot the problem that I am having?  I generally solve things myself,
but since I am not getting any indication of what the problem is, I do not know where to look. Again I can manually package the solution, upload to BLOB storage, and update my cloud services through the control panel.  So it is a fine workaround for now,
but it takes much longer than simply publishing from VS2013 which is what I had always done in the past.  But now I get this "an internal error has occurred".  It is hard to believe someone coded the system to even give such a useless message.
    Any other options?
    Thanks,
    Denis

  • Can't Debug Cloud Service w/Visual Studio

I have used the instructions on the following link to no avail.  Trying to debug a web application.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff683670.aspx#BK_Debugging_Cloud_Azure
I am using SDK version 2.3 with Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate.
Yes, remote debugging is turned on.
Yes, project is compiled in Debug mode.
When I attach debugger the default process that comes up selected is "clouddrivesvc.exe".  When I attach the process is debugging in Native mode.  So I'm guessing this is not the right process to attach to.  Based on the screen shots
in the aforementioned link I have tried attaching to "WallSHost.exe", this doesn't work either though.  I'm assuming I must be attaching to the wrong process.  Instructions state that the correct process should be selected by default...?

    Hi,
The debugger automatically attaches to the appropriate host process for your role. Depending on what the role is, the debugger attaches to w3wp.exe, WaWorkerHost.exe, or WaIISHost.exe. To verify the process to which the debugger is attached, expand the instance
    node in Server Explorer.

  • Upgrade from Visual Studio 2013 to Vs 2015 ends with unrelsoved external error

    Hello,
    I've installed VS 2015 CTP 6.
We used to work with with VS 2013.
When i try to compile our projects i get unresolved error for memset.
It is related to the  change of the run time libs.
When i add vcruntime.lib as additional lib the error resolved.
it means that  linker did no search at vcruntime.lib (probably look only at msvcrt.lib)
When i create a new project with VS2015 it worked(it was looking for vcruntime.lib).
I can add thos libs to all projects, but i thought(hoped :) ) there is a better way to do it.
    thanks,
    Lior

    Hello liorb,
It seems your issue is related to C++ 2015 so I moved it here. If your VS2015 and VS2013 are both on the same machine I recommend you follow pvdg42's advice to report this issue to connect and share the link back to here. Maybe it is a problem with
    this beta version.

  • How to develop and deploy multiple worker roles in single azure cloud services?

    I am Manikandan, From Myeasydocs.com.
We have developed our application as web projects.  Now we are going to move to azure cloud services, i have successfully migrated our application in cloud services and it worked fine. I am having difficulties with back ground task. i have nearly 12
schedule tasks in our applications. I need assist on creating multiple worker role creation and deployment.
Is there is any site on explaining the worker role process in details?
    Thanks in advance .. !!

    Hi,
In Worker role, Applications hosted within worker roles can run asynchronous, long-running or perpetual tasks independent of user interaction or input. It is a service component that is useful for generalized development, and may perform background processing
for a web role. A worker role is frequently used for long-running tasks that are non-interactive, but you can host any type of workload.
I suggest you to follow the below article which explains about Creating and Deploying of Web Roles and Worker Roles in Azure Cloud Service using Visual Studio.

    Hope this helps !
