I had hacker problems so I reloaded Snow Leopard. Afterwards, Mac had to delete 798 items. Now it is looping on 4 items to delete for the past 2 weeks. I can't reboot, reload, or restart. I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. I think a big part of the problem is that someon one the internet (the hacker) was mirroring my hard drive. It seems to have locked up my system. I could be wrong about this guess, though. All I do know is that it is now looping on the last 4 iems, and I can't do anything.
Well, I can get it to turn on, but all it does is continously try to delete the last 4 items. When I try to reload Snow Leopard, it tells me my hard drive is full and that I need to delete items.
Can anyone help? I am so lost without my Mac. I am back on the PC, and though it works, I'm sure many of you will understand when I say it's just not a Mac.
    Thanks.

I installed Snow Leopard using my Apple external Superdrive. I followed directions I found on the Apple site. Here is the article info:  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard: How to Erase and Install
                     Article HT3910
                     located at: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3910
Everything was going smoothly until I got to the reinstall part. I had to choose to reinstall on a hard drive or network drive. I've never used a network drive; just the hard drive. It seems that's where the troubles began. I selected the hard drive. It seemed to go well, and then I got the message that I needed to delete some files because I was out of space. I chose to get rid of my music files, but, there were only 636. I don't know what the rest of the files were. I was using the Secure Empty Trash command.
That was my first time doing an erase and install. I tried to do it again, but I now get a continuous error telling me that my hard drive is full and I must delete files. Only I can't delete files because 4 files are still being deleted and my computer won't let me stop the process.
I found out about the hackers mostly by the fact that whenever I used to watch something like Hulu or Netflix, I never had problems with internet connection or speed. Lately, I had internet connection problems. I went in to check my settings for my internet provider and found out the settings had been changed to public and all these extra computers were connected to my network.

    2. Blue screen appears

If you're really holding down those keys immediately after pressing the power button, yet they don't behave as expected, you may have some sort of hardware problem.
Do you have access to another keyboard that you could try?
How is that keyboard connected to your iMac? Your iMac probably has three USB ports. I'd try the keyboard in each of them in turn.

  • I need to wipe my computer can i reboot from the app store

    Hi,
I need to wipe my computer iMac 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo and start fresh. How do I reboot? Can I reboot from the App Store (Mavericks)?
    Any help would be appreciated
    Chhers
    Bill

You would reboot from the recovery partition. Hold cmd-R as you reboot (hold the keys down when the screen goes black and keep them held until you see the Apple logo). From there, run Disk Utility to wipe the drive, and follow the "Install OS X" prompts to reinstall the system.

  • HT1430 How can you reboot your Touch if the screen is frozen and will not allow you to use the "slide to power off"

How can I reboot my Touch when the screen is frozen and I cannot use the "slide to power off" feature?

    Next try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • How can I reboot my macbook pro to how i first got it if i don't have the cd

How can I reboot my Macbook Pro to how it was when I first got it if I don't have the cd

I had to do this the othe day when  I got my mew retina and set it up and then tried to transfer data from my old mac instead of using migration and made a real mess of it.  And I wanted to start all over again, so I called apple help and they said this:
Basically what you do is wipe the hard disc clean my reformatting - thats a scary bit
then reboot holding alt down and you get an option screen
you choose intalll Lion and it comes in via wifi and takes 2 hours or so , and then its just like an out of the box computer.
Best look for through some threads to double check the method, but thats basically what I did and it was fine.
Obviously cos the retina doesnt have a dvd drive, it had to be the only way anyway.

  • How do I backup files if can't reboot?

Volume 23 has an error msg of incorrect file number and therefore will not allow the machine to boot the OS.  I've tried repairing the disc using the disc utility.  It instructs me to backup the files and reinstall.  How can I backup files, if I can't reboot the OS to access the files?

There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot from the Recovery partition or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • Can't reboot Mac snow leopard

    Hi you all.
I have a Macbook Pro Os X snow leopard 10.6.3. I erased my hard drive and now I can't reboot my computer. It wont even take me to the login screen. I tried to reinstall with my installation disk but the installation fails. When I turn on the computer, I get the flashing folder with the question mark, but if I put the CD into the drive, then the folder changes to the apple. I get pass the language selection screen and where to install os x screen, but still, the whole installation fails. The only option that I have for startup is the installation disk and network utility but it won't let me choose the network option. I tried command+ etc+p+r but nothing happens. Tried option during startup and nothing happens. I ran disk repair in the utility and it says the disk is OK. I tried to partition and reinstall, it still fails. Please' please help.. Thanks in advance.

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

I was on my computer when all of a sudden it shut down. I tried a new power cord and nothing. The little lights on the front of the computer doesn't even light up. I looked at the specifications for it and it doesn't show anything about it. I even tried calling Tiger Direct and while they have cpus that will work, they didn't have any information on the motherboard. Does anyone know the specs on this motherboard?

  • My iPhone 4 can not reboot after upgrading to iOS 6; keeps trying and cannot shut off either.

My iPhone 4 can not reboot after upgrading to iOS 6; keeps trying and cannot shut off either.

I FINALLY got it to work on BOTH iPhone 4 and iPpad 3.  Here is what I had to do:
Had to DELETE all e-mail accounts including icloud.
Did a hard reset (hold down button on top right corner and round button on bottom center)
Then once it came back on, the iPhone had ALL of the accounts still on it and it was receivng e-mail.
The iPad receive e-mail until I did the steps above 5 times.  Plus, I had to add back all of the e-mail accounts vs. on the iPhone 4 they were there when my phone came on.
Now I am receiving e-mail on both devices normally.
No clue why this happened, but Apple needs to find a fix ASAP.
