Can't remove java

That's my probelm.
When I try to install new one it says:
Error 1304.Error writing to file C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Java\Update\Base
Images\jre1.5.0.b64\core1.zip. Verify that you have
access to that directory.
When i try to remove the old one, it says:
Internal Error 2318. C:\Program
Files\Java\jre.15.0_05\lib\javaws\messages_it.properties
and then it says it was a serious error....
My PC is abit messed up and it should be formated, but i can't do it right now. Can I still get java working somehow? If i could just get it removed first...

The install problem may be due to insufficient access to that location by the System - check that it's got modify capabilities. These may also help.

In the removal problem, it appears that there's a problem accessing the italian properties file - does it exist? You might try copying another one of the property files and naming the copy to this name. These may also help.

  • Can't remove java or install

    when i attempt to install java (runtime environment 5.0 update 6): "you already have this version of JRE installed. please uninstall the product through your add/remove programs utility before reinstalling."
    when i attempt to uninstall as advised: "internal error 2318. c\program files\java\jre1.5.0_06\lib\zi\asia\makassar" then "fatal error during installation."
    i have uninstalled everything java, but cannot remove this, or install java until this is removed.

    Check replies 4 thru 7 of this thread, http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=721559&tstart=75
    The file c\program files\java\jre1.5.0_06\lib\zi\asia\makassar apparently is trashed, follow the thread discussion and replace it with one of the other \zi\ files, then try removing Java.

  • Can't remove Java preference pane

    I recently deleted Java from my Mac (Yosemite) following Oracle's instructions. I can't get the Java preference pane deleted however. When I try I get this: "The “JavaControlPanel” preferences pane could not be removed because an error occurred."
    Any help is appreciated.

    Click on the Finder icon.
    Press cmd-shift-G. This opens the "Go to Folder" panel.
    Type
    /Library/PreferencePanes
    then click the Go button.
    Trash the icon

    The only part of Java that is vulnerable to any known threat is the plug-in. As long as you remove it from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ you should never have any issues with Java.
    As you will note in looking through the various recommended solutions, completely removing Java is difficult and time consuming. You will also be removing some of the files that originally came with Lion, which could possibly damage your OS.

  • Remove java in solaris

    Can i remove java from a solaris 9 server. ALL version of java. I dont have any GUI needs, I dont use SMC, I dont have any 3rd party apps using the system java. The only thing it appears to be good for is wasting my time patching java.
    What solaris (load the from the OS cd) requires java or breaks when java is removed?

    Hi did you ever figure out what patches cause this issue? we have the same problem (i.e. no support, same error)
    I am about to start some troubleshooting but would appreciate some pointers...

  • Can I remove J2SE Run. Env. 5.0 up6 from my PC now that I have Java 6 up11?

    Hey guy's, I'm new to Java... I just have it because I know it helps run alot of stuff on PC's today... Anyway, my story is:
    I recently updated my LimeWire that I paid for to the new version and it would just freeze and never open up from it's begining stage. Anyway I researched on it and found that it was my Java Version (J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 6 ) which I don't know what any of that means... did not support the new LimeWire Version... So I down-loaded ( Java 6 update 11 ) and now my LimeWire works fine... Even though I lost all my files on LimeWire while updating, lucky for me I had a back-up...
    My question is:
    In my Add or Remove Programs list, I can see both in there: 1.) J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 6 which is 152.00 MB & 2.) Java 6 update 11 which is only 94.38 MB and it's the New one I down-loaded...
    CAN I REMOVE THE J2SE RUNTIME ENVIROMENT 5.0 UPDATE 6 OUT OF MY COMPUTER OR IS IT ATTACHED TO PROGRAMS OR STUFF THAT I'M NOT AWARE OF??? DO I NEED IT??? I HAVE THE NEW ONE ABOVE... WILL IT HARM ANYTHING???
    Thank you Guy's or/and ladies...
    Looking forward for the help...

    Java versions are independent of one another and can be installed and removed separately. Other Java versions won't be affected.
    What may be affected are Java applications (like Limewire) that require a certain Java version - yes, some applications are written so that they'll run only with a certan version of Java, most are not. Since we don't know what's installed in your computer, we obviously can't say whether removal of a given version will cause one of your programs to malfunction or stop working.

  • How can I remove or replace the " Java coffee cup " icon ???

    I'd like to ask everybody some questions about the " Java coffee cup " icon
    doesn't JToolbar be able to pull out of Frame?
    but the JToolbar which was pulled out would have a little Java coffee cup icon
    just like JOptionPane,JDailog or JFrame.
    Is there any solution to remove this icon??
    equally....
    How can I remove or replace the little Java coffee cup icon of the title in
    JDialog or JOptionPane??
    Taking JFrame for instance, if I use "this.setIconImage(xxxxxxx);" then I can
    change the little Java coffee cup icon.
    but it seemed invalid to use it in JDialog.
    How can I solve it in JToorbar,JDailog and JOptionPane ???
    my e-mail : [email protected]

    this seems to be to most asked question at least in this forum.... only topped by the question about 'how to make an exe out of java apps' in the Java Programming Forum.
    Sorry, but is there anybody who has noticed those useful textboxes where it says 'Search'? I mean before there were computers one had to go to a library, ask somebody or perform extensive research until answers were found. Or one had to buy books only to find out the the other book he though about buying would have been better.
    Nowadays, simply type somthing like 'coffe cup' into a place where it is possible to do so and click into a region where it says 'Search' somewhere. Not even necessary to go to a froum like this and swamp it with the one trillionth version of this question, almost any search box might bring an answer (let it be right or not..).
    Although I have to admit that this instance is the most prosaic and least understandable one I have seen for long...
    Again sorry but I had to say that.

  • More then one updates of java installed, can i remove them?

    Hello,
    i was cheking my software, when i came to a point that i saw like 5 updates of java and they take about 150mb.
    Now my question is, can i remove these and just leave the most recent version? or does java need the previous versions too?
    Thanks in adnvace.

    Most (recent) Java programs are written so that they will run with any recent Java version. Some program authors require that a specific version be used, for whatever reason.
    Each Java version is independent and does not depend on the presence of other versions.
    Probably, you only need the most recent released version.

    (1) searchForRemoveCdsTitle() removes rather than adds the CDs that it finds to
    the list that it returns.So searchForRemoveCdsTitle() should be:private ArrayList<MusicCd> searchForRemoveCdsTitle(String searchString)
            MusicCd tempCd = new MusicCd();
            tempCd.setTitle(searchString);
            ArrayList<MusicCd> removeCdsResult = new ArrayList<MusicCd>();
            for(MusicCd currentMusicCd : MusicCdList)
                if((currentMusicCd.getTitle()).equals(tempCd.getTitle()))
                    //removeCdsResult.remove(currentMusicCd);
                    removeCdsResult.add(currentMusicCd); // <-- changed
            removeCdsResult.trimToSize();
            return removeCdsResult;
    (2) In removeCd() you never actually remove the CDs from the array list, you just
    print them to System.outSo removeCd() should be:public void removeCd()
            readOperation theRo = new readOperation();
            String keyword = theRo.readString("Please enter CD `s title you are going to remove : ") ;
            ArrayList<MusicCd> removeMusicCdResult =searchForRemoveCdsTitle(keyword);
            System.out.println("The CD that you just removed  is " + keyword );
            for(MusicCd tempCd : removeMusicCdResult)
                //System.out.println( tempCd.toString() );
                MusicCdList.remove(tempCd); // <-- changed
        }With these changes we get:Please enter your CD`s title : ivan
    Please enter your CD`s year of release : 1234
    Do you have another Cd ? (Y/N) : y
    Please enter your CD`s title : hero
    Please enter your CD`s year of release : 4321
    Do you have another Cd ? (Y/N) : n
    Our CD collection is:
    Music Cd`s Title: ivan     Year of release: 1234
    Music Cd`s Title: hero     Year of release: 4321
    Please enter CD `s title you are going to remove : hero
    The CD that you just removed  is hero
    Our CD collection is:
    Music Cd`s Title: ivan     Year of release: 1234     This "works", but I can't do more than hope that it helps. Really if something is unclear about either of these points it might be more productive to ask about that.

  • Can I remove the skip links piece from a WebCenter Portal Application?

    We have a better skip links implementation we would like to use. How can I turn off the default? Not simply hide it, but rather not render it at all period.  This goes the same for the noscript piece that says JavaScript is required to run the Application.  I also have a better solution I would like to use so I would also ask how do I disable the noscript piece. Do I need to edit some xml file or something? I search my application for "noscript" and "af:skipLinkTarget" and I can't find either one. How can I remove/disable these features. They are just not appropriate for this particular application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi.
    Are you using Portal or Framework Portal?.
    In case of <noscript> is generated by JAVA internal classes and the unique way to change the message is with a Non supported workaround overriding a CoreBundle class.
    About the af:skipLinkTarget usually is in the Page Template. The default templates has it in next snippet:
    <f:facet name="center">
        <af:skipLinkTarget>
        <af:facetref facetname="content">
        </af:facetref>
      </af:skipLinkTarget>
    </f:facet>
    If you're using default Templates then copy them and remove the af:skipLinkTarget tag from the copied one and assign it to the Portal.
    I hope it helps.
    Regards.

  • How can I remove a file on server w/ my JSP app running on Tomcat 7 ?

    First of all, I'm posting here because I found it the closest to java web development in the forums listing.
    How can I remove a file on the server side with my JSP app running on Tomcat 7 ? I did it in a JSE app by changing permissions, but how can I do it for a simple JSP app ?
    My code is
    public static void excluirArquivos(String nomeArquivoExcluido) {
              File arquivoExcluido = new File (nomeArquivoExcluido);
              arquivoExcluido.setWritable(true, true);
              SecurityManager sm = new SecurityManager();
              try {
                   sm.checkDelete(arquivoExcluido.getAbsolutePath());
                   System.gc();
                   if (arquivoExcluido.delete()) System.out.println("File '" + nomeArquivoExcluido + "' successfully removed.");
                   else System.out.println("File '" + nomeArquivoExcluido + "' wasn't removed somehow.");
              } catch (SecurityException se) {
                   System.out.println("File '" + nomeArquivoExcluido + "' can't be excluded. There is no permissions.");

    How can I remove a file on the server side with my JSP app running on Tomcat 7 ? I did it in a JSE app by changing permissions, but how can I do it for a simple JSP app ?1. make sure that the JVM has the (filesystem) rights to be able to remove said file
    2. make sure the file is in fact not locked (for example, opened by another process)
    3. use File.delete()
    There is no guarantee that you can delete a file, you can only make an attempt. There can be any number of reasons, most if not all of them not related to code, that the deletion of a file does not work.

  • Removing Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_04

    I'm having problems removing this from my pc. I tried using the Add/Remove Programs and get an error message. Basically it ells me that "The file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\etc.......... is not a valid installation package for the product Java 2 Runtime Environment SE v1.4.2_04 etc.......... etc........
    However when I do a browse to that location I do see the .msi package it is looking for. I tried to reinstall the package but cannot because it tells me I already have a version installed. How can I remove this? I'm willing to go as far as doing it manually. Thanks.
    Allen

    The security enhancements are documented at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/ReleaseNotes.html#150_06
    Changes in 1.5.0_06
    Prior to this update [1.5.0_06], an applet or [Java Web Start] application could specify the version of the JRE on which it would run. This has changed. All applets are executed with the latest JRE version. Unsigned Java Web Start applications that specify a version other than the latest trigger a warning, requiring explicit user permission before the application will run. Signed Java Web start applications are not affected.
    In other words, only Applets and unsigned Java Web Start applications are affected by the security enhancements. Standalone applications can select any JRE they want, even if it is the outdated 1.4.2_13.

  • Can't update java on mac os 10.5

    It has come to my attention that Apple's imbecile policy on Java updates prevents users of Mac OS 10.5 and under from updating their Java to the current version, thereby exposing them to potential risks due to known vulnerabilities in the outdated Java.
    Apple, in their misguided wisdom have decided that the ONLY way these users can correct their Java issues is to pay Apple for an upgrade to Mac OS 10.6 or higher. This policy is moronic. Users should not be forced to fork out money because of Apple's inability to support their own products - I mean, the Apple update still runs on 10.5 and updates are still released for this OS, so why end support for Java updates?
    Apple, explain yourself.

    Apple do not contribute to these forums.
    The final Java update for older PPC Macs running Leopard was:
    Update 10, 29 June 2011 - This release updates J2SE 5.0 to 1.5.0_30, and updates Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_26. J2SE 1.4.2 is no longer being updated to fix bugs or security issues and remains disabled by default in this update. Support for out-of-process Java applets on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard has been removed with this update.
    This release is only for Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later versions of Mac OS X 10.5. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1359
    and for Snow Leopard:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1360
    Note: Java 1.6 for Leopard is 64 bit only (i.e. for Intel macs only), but for Snow Leopard it is available for both 32 and 64 bit.
    http://www.roguish.com/blog/?p=266
    But since August 2012 updates for Java (and especially Java Runtime Environment, which is what you actually need) must now be downloaded direct from Oracle:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7-downloads-1637588.h tml
    Further information here:
    http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/press/1735645
    The risks associated with Java did not affect PPC Macs, and further security updates have been issued for Intel Macs, including those running Leopard.
    The best thing to do is to disable Java in Safari Preferences, but NOT Java Script, which is something completely different.

  • How to remove Java Applications from "Add and Remove Programs" list?

    I have deployed my Java applications (both JWS and Applet) via JNLP with allow-offline option enabled and without installer-desc option specified.
    My questions are:
    1. An entry is added to the Add and Remove Programs list after launching the application via JNLP. Is it due to the specification of JNLP or JWS? Is there anyway to prevent this behavior?
    2. I removed my application by clearing the cache via Java Control Panel but the entry for the application is still listed in Add and Remove Programs. How can I remove the entry in the Add and Remove Programs?
    I have tried following methods but neither works:
    1.Go to Add and Remove Programs, and click [remove] button to the right of my application.
    *Warning message like 'Application cannot be uninstalled completely' is thrown.
    2.Follow instructions listed @ [Microsoft Online Support site|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314481/en-us] to remove my application manually via Windows registry.
    *Couldn't find appropriate registry entry to delete.
    Thanks in advance!
