Can't run wallet manager to generate certificate request

Hi!
I'm having some trouble running the wallet manager to generate a security certificate on a live application server box.
No matter what I do from the GUI I can't set the display variable correctly. I have tried EVERYTHING. It won't be set. And I can't restart or turn off the box as its a production machine and it's currently heavily in use.
If I try to use mkwallet logged in as oracle I just get 2 "Failed to create a certificate request" messages after:
1. running:
mkwallet -e pwd wrl
to generate an empty wallet
and 2. running:
mkwallet -r pwd wrl CN=domain.com, O=Business Name, L=Suburb, ST=State, C=AU 1024 certReqLoc
and if I try to run mkwallet as root I just get:
error while loading shared libraries: libclntsh.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Advice greatly appreciated!!

You must repeatedly tap the F11 key at boot to get to the recovery manager.
Did you make recovery disks when you got the computer?
If not you may order them.  If you live in the USA/Canada, call this number...  1-800-334-5144.
If you do not live in the USA/Canada, call the HP business PC support number for the country you live in.

  • PowerBook Can't Run Airport Management Utility

I'm still trying to find out why my PowerBook can't run Airport Management Utility, even though all of my other Airport software is up to date. When I try to launch the utility, it gives the message that it "requires Airport 3.4 or later", which I do already have.
Below is a description of my latest effort, followed by my original question, which has been archived in this discussion group.
I created and logged in via a new user account, but I still got the same 'requires Airport 3.4 or later' message from Airport Management Utility. I took it from this that the problem was not related to user preferences.
I then used Spotlight to search the Library folder. The only airport pref I found there was com.apple.airport.preferences.plist, located in this path: Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration.
The computer would not let me move this to the desktop, but copied it instead. I can open that copy in TextEdit, but if I double click on it, it actually launches in OmniOutlner. A check via "Get Info" shows that it is set to "Open with: OmniOutliner" from the drop down menu in the Get Info box.
If you open this plist in OmiOutliner, you find the information I've listed below. It appears to show that the file does know the Airport software version is "5" and not less than 3.4:
    • Disconnect on logout 0
    • AllowEnable 0
    ▶ Default 802.1X Configurations
    • InterferenceRobustness 0
    • Require Admin for network 0
    change
    • JoinMode 1
    • Always remember new networks 1
    ▶ List of known networks
    • Version 5
    • Require Admin for IBSS creation 1
    • Fallback Preference 0
The only other items in the Library folder with "airport" in the name are both in the Receipts folder: AirportTI2005-001.pkg and AirportConfigApps.pkg.
I'd welcome your thoughts on this.
    My original posting was:
I have the newest PowerBook G4 , purchased this fall with Mac OS X 10.4.3 and AirPort Update 2005-001 installed.
When I try to run Airport Management utility I get the message : " "The Airport Management Utility requires Airport 3.4 or later. Click Update to check for newer software." While Airport Management Utility will not run on my PowerBook, it does run on my iMac with 10.3.9.
    I've tried:
-installing "AirPort Update 2005-001" but it didn't solve the problem.
-installing "AirPort 4.2 for Mac OS X 10.4.2", thinking that if it were not needed, the installer would not run. It did install, but that did not solve the problem.
-re-installing "AirPort Update 2005-001", which did install a second time, but did not solve the problem. (I thought perhaps the installer for this update wouldn't run a second time.)
Does anyone know of a solution, or does Apple need to update Airport Management Utility?
(I've cross-posted this in the Airport discussion area, but I also wanted to check with others who recently bought the same PowerBook.)
    Thanks for your help.

"OK, I've been following this thread since February and I think I got this thing figured out. Joseph Jordan pointed to the right direction and I did some more digging.
I had the same problem as most posters here:
    - ALL 10.3 machines had AirPort Management Utility working but,
    - NOT ALL 10.4 machines had AirPort Management Utility working.
In my case, no 10.4 computer had AMU working (updated from 10.3 or fresh install of 10.4, Intel or PowerPC, even brand new MacBook Pro and PowerBook G4 out of the box), EXCEPT one xserve that was updated from 10.3.
As I said before, Joseph Jordan pointed to the right direction, the file/folder AirPortConfig.framework in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ is missing.
It seems that AirPortConfig.framework was installed when AirPort 4.1 was installed. AirPort 4.2 installs Apple80211.framework only. I think...
In some cases, AirPortConfig.framework is there (updated machines), but the file AirPortConfig is missing in AirPortConfig.framework/Versions/A/
as well as the symbolic links to it and to other folders.
    Solution:
The easiest way is to copy the whole AirPortConfig.framework to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/
If you already have AirPortConfig.framework and AMU is not working, move it to the trash or somewhere else.
I found AirPortConfig.framework in the "AirPort Extreme Software Installation" CD (CD version 4.1 2Z691-5219-A):
    1. Open the CD
    2. Control-click "AirPort for Mac OX X v10.3" and select Show original
    3. Control-click "AirPortSW.pkg" and select Show Package Contents
    4. Open Contents
    5. Drag Archive.pax.gz to the Desktop
    6. Double-click Archive.pax.gz to unarchive the file
    7. AirPortConfig.framework is in ~/Desktop/Archive/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks
    8. Drag AirPortConfig.framework to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ You will be asked to authenticate.
AMU should work at this point.
Alternatively, download "AirPort 4.1 Update.dmg" from
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airport41formacosx.html
and follow from step 3. above.
This solution seems to work on both Intel and PowerPC machines.
Computers tested: Power Mac G5, Powerbook G4 12" and 17", MacBook Pro.
IMPORTANT: I do not know if this solution breaks anything. CAVEAT EMPTOR!"

  • Can we run AnyConnect using self signed certificates?

I have a lab that I want to build a laptop-to-ASA remote access tunnel, using AnyConnect.
I understand AnyConnect requires IKEV2, and certificates.
It does not allow for pre-shared passwords, like VPN-client.
Is there a way I can build the lab without getting a certificate?

AnyConnect does not require certificates if you use SSL VPN (vs. IKEv2 IPsec VPN). On an SSL VPN you can use local authentication on the ASA or external authentication to AD, LDAP, RADIUS, etc. (in addition to or instead of certificates).
If you want to use IKEv2 and certificate authentication you can use either the ASA itself the CA server or proxy (via SCEP) to an internal CA (e.g. a Windows servers with Certificate Services). There are some other possible methods (such as the way you asked about) but in my experience they are not commonly used as few users have the knowledge or desire to go that route. Most organizations using client certificates deploy them from an internal root CA.

  • Error generating certificate request in JES DSEE 6.0

If I try to generate a CA signed certificate request through the DSCC interface, I get an error message that the given subject "CN=...,O=..." is improperly formatted.
I get the same error while performing this operation through command line.
Any kind of help on what could be the reason for the same, is highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Prabhjeet

Well the fact that both tools are issuing the same error is an indication that there is really an improper format in the Subject DN. Without the complete value, it is hard to explain the reason.
Do the CN and O values only contain Ascii characters or UTF-8 encoded characters ?

  • Importing Certificate in Oracle Wallet Manager fails

    Hi,
We are using Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2. When I try to import a certificate issued by a certificate authority, (using Operations > Import User Certificate), the wallet returns the following error:
    User certificate installation failed.
    Possible errors:
    - Input was not a valid certificate
    - No matching certificate request was found
    - CA certificate needed for certificate chain not found. Please install it first
The certificate is obtained after raising a Certificate Request from the wallet manager. But I am not sure whether we have saved the wallet after raising the certificate request.
Now I have the certificate issued by the CA. Is there any way that I can import this certificate.? what is the possible solution?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rafeek.

Did you import CA certificate as a trusted certificate before importing the user certificate. If not, import CA cert first. To make sure you have saved the certificate request, please open the wallet and see if it exists. Hope this helps.

You cannot import a cert if the request is gone. This is one of the underlying security principles of the Wallet mgr.
The best thing to do after a request is generated is to copy the ewallet.p12 to a safe place in order to do some additional tests while waiting for the cert.

  • Using a SHA2 certificate with 12.1.1 (Oracle Wallet Manager 10.1.0.5)

    Hi folks,
I'm trying to enable SSL on my 12.1.1 system, but I've got a bit of a problem.
I've already logged a SR on this, so I already know that you cannot use SHA2 SSL certificates with Oracle Wallet Manager 10.1.0.5, which is part of the 10.1.3 tech stack. I started the SR on the EBS side, but it was passed on to the security group, and closed there. My question is, is there something that I don't know? Is there an upgrade path in 12.1.x that would include an upgrade to the OWM, or is there some sort of workaround? I'll be opening another SR tomorrow, but wanted to see if I was missing something simple.
We have an internal certificate server (Microsoft AD), and the root certificate, which I need to import, is SHA2. I'm being told that they cannot generate a SHA1 root certificate, and would have to stand up another certificate authority. OWM 10.1.0.5 can't handle SHA2, so I'm stuck.
    Anybody been there done that?
    Thanks very much,

  • Where can I find the Oracle Wallet Manager?

    Hi,
I'm trying to configure an MQSeries Adapter for SSL however being fairly new the 'Wallet' concept as well as SSL configuration I'm having a hard time finding it. I don't see any option in my WinXP start menu. I ran a search for 'owm' in my local and found the 'owm-3_0.jar' file. When I try to run it via java -jar I get a main class not found.
Is there an alternative to run this manager? Can I download it somewhere? Is there a cmd-based tool I can use instead to add certificates to my wallet (cwallet.sso)?
    Thanks,
