Can't start Oracle service

HI
Am Just starting oracle serviceORCL..but it is getting error...since yesterday i was run oracle successfully..and last night i just did "shut immediate"
and today morning i came up with this error
Could not start the OracleDBConsoleORCL service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or the control request in a timely fashion.

I can't start Oracle Services for MTS

Hello there, Oracle users!
I am new here, as new to the Oracle technology. We are developping a
software which must be transaction compliant, and we're on microsoft
platform, and thatswy we're using sql2000 and microsoft transaction
server for our application server components.
But one of our clients wants to use oracle 8i db as the resource manager. We had to make the proper work mts with oracle. I've red all of the oracle documentation within this topic, and i successfully installed
the Oracle Services for MTS on our development machine at the workplace.
(created the mts_proxy_info table, granted the specific roles to a specific db user, the specific privileges, and so on), and
it is working nicely, the log says "accepting new enlistment requests",
everything is wonderful.
But at the client, i repeated all of the steps (the only difference is,
that they have the server on a HP-UX machine instead of winnt and i had not access to the oracle server, i just gived the sql script to the oracle dba guy there (maybe he missed something?)), and when i wanted to start the oracle services for MTS on the Application server, the log says this: "incorrect password, or username". I really don't
undestand it, because i can connect through the OLEDB driver with the
specified username, password and Service name. (in a datalink (udl), for example)
If anybody had an idea i would be very happy

In pre-8.1.7.4.0 beta implementations, your application server e.g. IIS or MTX.EXE hosts MTS transactional components. When such components acquire OLEDB or ODBC connections to Oracle and external service setup for that database i.e. OracleMTSService<id> joins the MTS transaction on behalf of the Oracle database which quite often runs on a non-Windows platform e.g. Solaris. We restrict each database to have one and only such service. This brings in scalability and availability issues. In 8.1.7.4.0 we have embedded the transaction join and commit logic in the clientside dll. There is no OracleMTSService<id> for a given database. The only service needed is a recovery service one per Windows machine on which Oracle Svcs For MTS is installed. This service is automatically created on installation of the product and doesn't connect to the databases. Instead the involved databases connect to the service via HTTP to resolve any MTS-related transactions that are in-doubt.

Can't start oracle8i service after installing successfully

after installing, i want to start oracle service,
using oracle accout, i log in , i go to $ORACLE_HOME/bin and execute 'dbstart'
it is said 'cat can't open /etc/oratab'

Hi,
check the file oratab under /etc and the permission on that.if oratab is not under etc make a search for oratab and copy that to under /etc.
try ps -ef |grep oracle
see what happened.

Win2k cannot start oracle services

Hi,
Usually, our oracle servers can start up autometically
when the machine start up.
Just now, oracle services cannot start. I try use
start->control panel->administrator tool-> services to
start oracle service, it gets errors as following:
could not start the OracleOraHome90TNSListener service on
local computer.
Error 5: Access is denied.
Then I try to use "lsnrctl start listener"
I got following errors:
Failed to start service, error 5.
TNS-12536: TNS:operation would block
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00506: Operation would block
32-bit Windows Error: 997: Unknown error
I check listener log file, no new message is add to it.
My OS is window 2000 professional.
Oracle server version: 9.0.1.1.1

Hi,
I try to fix it by change log on setting by
setting the oracle service as 'this account' and
fill in account and password with system administrator
account information. Then all oracle services can work
properly. But with this setting the web application which
connect oracle database cannot login to database.
It may be the registry database of the machine get
corrupted.
How can I delete all oracle services and recreate the
them again, then will re-register the service information?
By the way, all other services in system are log on as
localsystem account, only oracle services does not allow
me set up as localsystem account, if I did that way, oracle service will not start and complain "error 5:
access is denied"

but when i use sqlplus,it says:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available

There's nothing to configure on the client side. On the database side you just need to run a script once to setup an ORAMTS admin account and some other infrastructure.

This scripts asks for a password and that's annoying... and it just stays waiting there.. i mean does not stay running in background... So if i finish my ssh session it will shutdown...
Today at oracle support they told me that i still can start forms with OPMN using opmnctl as we use to do in 10g... Is this possible? Does anyone here have a startup script for forms and reports 11g under linux? How do you guys start forms and reports?

with just opmnctl we cant run Forms I believe, we need to have WLS_FORMS also running ..
Forms requires ohs or wc to be up and running along with WLS_FORMS , thats is what is my understanding ..

Help me! why can not start oracle management server?

maybe for my shutdown and startup database abnormal for several
times,now the server oracleorahome81management server can't start
and while i logon to enterprise manager console,it show me a

Can't start Foundation Services on Windows XP, Essbase 11.1.2

Installation and & configuration were fine and everything worked for a while. Machine was rebooted. After that, I tried : "EPM System Start" from start menu, but it fails starting foundation services. I tried starting only Foundation services ... It is the same. In the starter log I can see:

I need to run Admin Services Console & essmsh. If I try to run Admin Service Console it has error: "Could not connect to admin server" and after thae "EAS server not available". How can I start Essbase? After reboot, I can see only Hyperion Integration service started - all others not (they are set to Automatic start). Also, I see ESSBASE.exe process and couple of opmn.exe ...
Does anything else has to be started before starting EPM System start script? I really appreciate any help!

Can't you install Essbase 11.1.1.x to not use Shared Services?
From the 11.1.1.3 install guide:
If you want to install Essbase in standalone mode (not using Shared Services), you can skip the installation for Shared Services. EPM System Configurator populates the database with tables for the Shared Services Registry, but not for Shared Services.I'm pretty sure people are running Essbase on XP boxes. That includes EAS, and maybe APS for SmartView, and that's pretty much it.
For sure XP isn't a supported environment.

Can't start OLAPServer service after installing patches #9.0.1.3

I had a running OLAPServer service before I installed the 9i latest patches (#9.0.1.3) yesterday.
I have tried to use either Windows Service Manager or OLAP Services Instances Manager to start that service.
When I tried to use OLAP OSIM, I got error message like this :
XPINSMGR - 10565 Cannot access olap service from this database. Cause : an attempt was made to access OLAP services on a database on which it is not installed (?). Action: Install OLAP Service in the database...
I have tried to create a new database and set all the OLAP configuration, but it is still not working..
Is there someone can help me to figure out what happened ?

Thank's for your suggestion. But my problem occured after I installed the 9.0.1.3.1 patch on my 9i database server (in run on XP Pro machine). I have checked OLAPDBA,OLAPSYS,and OLAPSVR security status, they are NOT LOCKED and NOT EXPIRED.
I have checked the content of OLAPServicesAgent.log file and I find ORA-03113 error.

Can't start Oracle Directory Manager

Hi,
I have installed and configured OID in OFM11g, but I have no idea how to validate it. I am not sure whether I configured it successful.
I have installed identity server 10.1.4.3.0 refering to link . It said that if I installed it successful, I can start OAM Identity Server service ( [step 18|http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/fusion_middleware/im1014/ovd-oam/oam-ovd/install_oam/install_oam.htm#t2] Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, right-clicking the Oracle Access Manager Identity Server (identity) service, and selecting Start.) However, when I start the service, I can't see Oracle Directory Manager ( [step 19|http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/fusion_middleware/im1014/ovd-oam/oam-ovd/install_oam/install_oam.htm#t2] ). Actually, nothing happened.
When you completed the installation of Identity Server, could you open the Oracle Directory Manager ?

Hi,
You can validate OID installation through 'opmnctl' and/or 'ldapbind'. You can access 'Oracle Directory Services Manager' through a browser using the url -
'http://<host>:<port>/odsm/faces/odsm.jspx'.

Can't Start Oracle BPM Workspace

I'm trying to start oracle BPM workspace through this URI http://localhost:7001/bpm/workspace but it gives me an error which is:
Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
*10.4.5 404 Not Found*
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
If anyone know about that,please help me.I can't complete my semester project_

Most likely you didn't check the 'Oracle BPM Suite'/'Oracle BPM Suite for developers' when you configured the SOA domain. Go to '<YOUR_MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\Oracle_SOA1\common\bin\' and run the config.cmd.
Choose 'Extend an existing Web Logic Domain' and then be sure to select 'Oracle BPM Suite'/'Oracle BPM Suite for developer'. Then it should work.

Can't start xbmc.service since upgrade to xbmc 12.3-10

Hi,
I normally start xbmc via a service file and do not use a login manager, and have done successfully for some time now,
I can no longer start xbmc.service since upgrading to xbmc 12.3-10
The errors I receive in the journal are:

Feb 27 10:52:20 wolverine systemd[242]: Failed at step PAM spawning /usr/bin/xinit: Operation not permitted
Looking at the old and new xbmc.service files, the new xbmc.service now has an additional line specifying "PamName=login"
Not sure what I need to look at to fix this, any ideas are much appreciated.
I am temporarily using the old xbmc.service file from the xbmc 12.3-9 package to ensure xbmc starts.

Thought I'd chime in here, as I'm having the same problem. I am using the default service file provided by the xbmc package. Commenting out PAMName=login in xbmc.service allows xbmc to start successfully on boot. If I start xbmc.service from a normal shell prompt, it will start fine even with PAMName set.
