Can't Uninstall Developer Tools.

I know I need uninstall-devtools.pl, but it is not in Developer/Tools and I have no idea where to find it... My copy of X Code is quite screwy and I really want to uninstall then reinstall... does anyone know where I can download the script or could anyone upload it somewhere, I would be eternally grateful :-D.
Cheers!

Guess things have changed. Look in /Developer/Library. I seem to have uninstaller-type things there.

  • Where can I download Developer Tools for 10.4.8?

Hi. I'm trying to run a program called Bionets, and it needs the developer tools, but the installer I have in my applications folder says it can only be installed on 10.3. I assume there will be a new one for 10.4? Where can I find it?
Thanks very much. I'm sure it's pretty simple... ?

You can download the latest Xcode Tools from Apple's Developer Connection but you'll have to sign up for a free online account if you don't already have one. Then logon and go to the downloads section.

  • Uninstall Developer Tools

I am preparing to give a family member my computer that I have used in a work environment. I would like to prepare the system as best as I can without deleting everything and restoring as I will maintain my account as a backup until I can remove my needed files. Presently, I am need of removing the Apple developer tools from my system. Can some one direct me to a list of items to be deleted or how to do this?
I also would like to know what these two system preferences are (MacFUSE and OpenBase)and if I can delete them without harm to the system if I determine they are not applicable to future use of the system.
    Thank you

After using the script I now have some developer files in the Library left over. Can I safely delete these.
I wonder if iI could just reinstall the OS in the same partition but without deleting saved files, applications and registrations? All I want to do is get the OS back to "new".

  • Can you use developer tools to slow down the CPU speed?

I'd like to slow down my MBP processor speeds when I'm just browsing the web and reading emails. Can you do this with the developer tools that you get with your MBP?
I know there is an app that does this called "CoolBook." Has anybody used it?
    Mark

Well, you can do anything with the developer tools for OSX, but there is not tool like CoolBook. If you want to find the malloc holes in NeoOffice, install the developer tools. If you want to underclock your machine, use something else.
CoolBooks is probably a great idea (though I haven't used it). Just remember that the CPU is only part of the story and that screen brightness, airport, built-in ethernet, and peripherals play a big role in battery life. The elephant in the closet is also the GPU. I haven't ever seen anything about underclocking the GPU, but that thing takes up some serious juice as well.

  • Xcode/developer tools uninstall

Please excuse this simple first time post, but I was wondering whether uninstalling the developer tools has any effect on the rest of os x i.e. is it ok to do it to free up some space?
I know how to do it, but just wanted to check it didn't make things unstable first.
    Thanks,

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Uninstalling developer tools will mainly remove the tools you installed with the Xcode/WebO installer....
If you are curious, open the script uninstall-devtools.pl (located at /Developer/Tools ) in your favorite text editor and change the line 34 to "$do_nothing = 1;" (without the quotes!).
With this setting the script will do nothing but print the list of files that would be uninstalled if you did NOT change this setting
If you are more from the techie side, below is the explanation from inside the script:
    # 1. The package receipts for Dec2001DevToolsExtra,
    # Apr2002DevToolsExtra, Aug2002DevTools10.2Update, Oct2002nibtool,
    # Dec2002DevToolsExtras, June2003DevToolsExtras, 2005-06XcodeExtras.
    # 2. The version.plist files in vmutils.framework,
    # AppleScriptKit.framework from Apr2002DevToolsExtra and
    # Graphite.framework from the June2003DevToolsExtras.
    # 3. All files and receipts for all other Dev* packages.
    # 4. A few odds and ends that aren't explicitly listed in
    # the BOMs (post-install symlinks, help index files,
    # gdb cached symfiles).

  • Need "Developer Tools"

I have been struggling to convert Windows Eudora eMail to Mac Eudora eMail, and have enlisted the aid of one of the original Eudora developers to help me with what has turned out to be a difficult task.
He says I need a "developer tool" that can "set filetype to TEXT" for the Eudora mailboxes, and then Eudora on the Mac should recognize them. He says I should be able to find this tool on the OSX installation DVDs. He directed me to the info on this web page:
    http://www.xs4all.nl/~jlpoutre/BoT/Mac-OSX tifffor_ABBYYFineReader.html
    (hope that URL works)
I am not sure what the "developer tool" is, exactly, nor where to find it on the OSX, nor how to install it if I can find it. Can somebody please direct me to the right utility? Is it something called "Terminal" ?
Does anybody even know what I'm talking about? If so, please type slowly... this is all like really new to me and I really don't want to do anything that will trash my OS.
    Thanks,

While you can use the developer tool that is suggested, you can also use AppleScript for this. No need to install anything.
Open the Script Editor (Applications/AppleScript). Copy and paste the following into a Script Editor window--
    tell application "Finder"
set x to selection as string
set file type of file x to "TEXT"
set creator type of file x to "CSOm"
    end tell
Save the file with some appropriate name. You can save it as a "script".
    To use,
    1. open the script with Script Editor
    2. find a Windows mail file you want to work with and highlight it.
    3. go back to the Script Editor and click "Run"
The Eudora file that you highlighted will have its file type set to TEXT and the creator type set to CMOs which is the unique identifier for Eudora.

  • Update developer tools

How can i update "Developer Tools"?
I need a most recent version of some GNU software (bison and automake, for example), that i had install through DVD's of Mac OS X.
    P.S. sorry by bad english

Could you provide the URL specifically, I'm having trouble finding the developer site.
    Thanx.
Search for "xcode tools" without quotes at the
developer site. You will need to register in order
to obtain the most recent update (2.2.1.)
Have you installed the version on your Tiger DVD?

  • I downloaded the web developer tool bar and after using it my images are gone. I use google and a home page and the big google is gone. I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it but I still don't have any images. How can I get them back?

Two days ago I downloaded the web developer tool bar (aus2.mozilla.com). I tried to use it but gave up. I deleted the tool bar.
I don't have any images anymore. I use Google.com as my home page (default) and the large GOOGLE isn't there anymore. I've also noticed some of the sites I use don't have the continue or next or enter keys anymore. It seems the only thing I have now is the text.

Are you sure you are looking at the Google page?? In Firefox 4.0 the default homepage / Start Page in Firefox was changed to '''about:home''' which looks a lot like the former www.google.com/firefox homepage.

  • How to uninstall Command Line Developer Tools

Hello, After upgrade to OSX Mavericks by mistake I downloaded Command Line Developer Tools. I'm not a coder, just a graphic designer and I'm not gonna need it. It's about 300 MB size and I don't want it. The worst part is that its the second time Apple Update shows a new update for this. If I try to move Library/Developer/CommandLineTools folder to trash I'm asked to provide my admin password, so I don't do it because I'm affraid to harm my OS. I've been searching on the web for an answer close to my case but only found uninstall tips related to Xcode that don't apply to me. Can you please help me to get rid of this Command Line Tools? Thanks a lot in advance!

Do it. It will not harm OS X, and you will be removing the Command Line Developer tools. Nothing will happen to your Mac, but you should make a backup of your files before modifying system files.

  • What team-based development tool can you recommend?

Our team works on a Windows 2000 platform and an Oracle 8i database. Can anyone recommend a good team-based development tool that we can use with our JDeveloper? What about tools like webDAV, Rational ClearCase? Are they easy to use and easy to deploy? What else is out there that already works for you?
    Thanks.

  • How do I completely uninstall Xcode and Developer Tools?

**Sorry if this isn't the place to ask this, but I really didn't find a section dedicated to this, so I'm asking it here.**
I installed Xcode and the Mac developer tools from Apple's developer site page and I'm not going to use it (for the time being anyway). I dragged and dropped all of the files from the download into the trash and emptied it. Then, I went to Terminal, and typed in the following:
    sudo /Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools –mode=all
It gave me a prompt to enter my password before continuing, entered my password, and then that was it! Question is, though, is this really it? Did I really get rid of Xcode and all of the developer stuff that came in the Mac Developer Tools download?

The only thing that I could find in utilities that started with "X" was something called "X11". Also, I had Xcode 3.1.2 installed, and at first I tried typing this command in Terminal:
    $ sudo <Xcode>/Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=all
I got this from the "About Xcode 3.1.2" document from Apple's developer site, but it wouldn't work. Then I tried the code that I posted in my first post, and I guess it worked. I actually entered the code
    sudo /Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools –mode=all
a few times (for closure) and the same thing happened every time: password to continue and, that's it! So I guess it worked. I actually got that code from a blog after googling "how to uninstall xcode 3.1.2 and developer tools"!

  • Where can I download complete Xcode Developer Tools for OS-X 10.6?

I have OS-X version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard, I think). I do not have Xcode installed. I do not have the original MAC DVD.
I figured out I needed Xcode 3.2. When I download "Xcode 3.2" it from Apple, during install it says it failed "to locate package at ~/Packages/DeveloperTools.pkg".
Downloading "Xcode 3.2.1 Developer Tools" (there is no "Xcode 3.2 Developer Tools"), installing it results in the same error message. (The contents of this DMG is "XcodeTools.mpkg".)
Maybe I should download "Xcode 3.2.6 and iOS SDK 4.3 for Snow Leopard"? (But that is 4.14GB and I can't download that right now.)
Or am I stuck because I do not have the original DVD which I may need to get "DeveloperTools.pkg"?
(Also, why do you think the DMG binaries are so huge? The "Xcode 3.2" DMG for example, is 1GB, but the inside "Xcode.mpkg" is only 541KB!)

Any of the Xcode 3.2.x download packages will work with Snow Leopard. You don't need the Snow Leopard DVD to install Xcode, but if you had the DVD things would be easier for you because you could install Xcode from the DVD and not have to download it. If you don't need to develop for iOS, Xcode 3.2.2 is 744.71 MB, which is a much smaller download than Xcode 3.2.6.
The Xcode binaries are huge because you're downloading and installing more than just Xcode. There are other GUI apps, such as Interface Builder, Instruments, Dashcode, and Quartz Composer. There are also command-line tools. And there may also be developer documentation included with the Xcode binaries. All that adds up.

  • Can we use SQL developer tool to READ/WRITE BerkeleyDB by any means

We use Berkeley Db as a persistent database, which holds data less frequently changed data. Can is it possible to use SQL Developer tool or any other front end tool that can connect and communicate to Berkeley db file for INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE records.

I assume you're referring to Berkeley DB SQL (BDB SQL API).
SQL Developer is not certified to work with BDB SQL; see the SQL Developer Certifications page.
Something similar was asked some time ago, about connecting JDeveloper to BDB SQL; see this Re: How connect Oracle JDeveloper 11g to Berkeley DB 11g. The SQL tools in JDeveloper and SQL Developer are similar and built on the same components, so my answer there can be extended to SQL Developer as well. While you can probably have SQL Developer properly connect to a BDB SQL database, I am afraid you won't be able to do more than just viewing the data; likely any attempt to generate DDL or DML statements, export data, or run DML statements against the database will fail.
If you migrated to BDB SQL from SQLite and were using a front-end tool for SQLite, it should be possible to use that with BDB SQL as well.

    Andrei
