Can't update documents to Numbers 3.1.

I have Numbers 3.1 (1769) which won't open my old spreadsheets made on Numbers '08; am told 'too old, save with Numbers 09 first'. I still have '08 so can open documents OK, however do I need to download '09 so that they can then be saved to version 3.1?

'09, not being used, was deleted in the update to version 3?
No, if you had it, it will still be on your computer. Try typing Numbers into Spotlight

Finally found the problem. I was opening the old version and found the newer version on launchpad.

Not on the iPad itself, no. iOS apps keep their documents within each app itself. You would need to save the documents to a WebDAV server. Dropbox can serve this function if partnered with DropDAV. See:

Can't update Pages or Numbers - but I own them...

I have a fairly new MacbookAir to which I migrated all my necessary (and fully paid-for and legally purchased) applications like Pages and Numbers.
There's an update available for Pages and Numbers, so I went to the App store and clicked on Update and received the following message:
"You must have previously purchased the item being updated. Tap Buy to purchase it now."
But I ALREADY OWN these applications. All I want to do is update them.
Help please.

Update for anyone interested - since I paid for Apple Care Protection, I used Express Lane and just spent 40 minutes on the phone with a supervisor.
Believe it or not, despite having my original order # which, of course, supports my case that the two apps CAME WITH the MacBook Air, and having my serial number and having checked to see that the computer was ordered using my iTunes ID etc., he had to take my phone number so he can research this further and call me back later.
Interestingly, when I checked "PURCHASES" in the App Store for this computer, neither Pages nor Numbers shows in the purchased list.
Very very strange.

Can't update document directory in Pages 5

In Pages 4.3 I could update my directory by clicking into the directory and select "update". This is not possible in Pages 5.0. Anaother important feature that has gone.

According to Apple's Help (English Version)
Pages Help for Mac > Format documents > Add a table of contents
they say the Table of Contents automatically updates.
Try changing a few things like selecting and unselecting different paragraph styles or moving/adding items and see what happens.

Just a quick one for you guys!
I have recently discoverer 'Numbers' which is great! I then discovered you could share a spreadsheet which is perfect for us as we quiet often need to be working in the same document from our iPhones. However, we do not seem to be able to see each others changes on the shared document. Is it actually possible for us to both work in the spreadsheet and it automatically update each others spreadsheet or is it that when we are done editing, we can only send it to our own iCloud?

If you share an iCloud link, you can all edit the same document through a web browser. But it has to be a "full" web browser. Mobile Safari on the iPhone can't handle it.
If you're editing the document in Numbers for iOS then others won't be able to see your changes. You'll have to email or share a link to your edited version.

How document numbers can be updated in New GL table

We have SAP version ECC 5 and application patch level is 8. While we check balances of GR/IR Clearing A/c through FS10N in period 5 under credit posting which is being differed with FBL3N balances as Rs. 24,284.62. We have identified 5 document numbers are not updated in New GL table which are FAGLFLEXA and FAGLFLEXT and Rs 24,284.62 is being differed in GL Trial report as S_ALR_87012277. Here Debit and Credit figure is not matching rs. 24,284.62. New GL is not implemented in our company.
Therefore I would request you to kindly guide me how those 5 document numbers which are missing in new gl table can be updated those two tables are FAGLFLEXA and FAGLFLEXT.

According your question what i understood is there is difference in the amount of FS10N i.e. GL balances and FBL3n Line item display ,the gl is GRIR clearing account the amount is showing GL Balance but the same amount is not showing in FBL3N right.
If yes goto FS00 and check line item display is selceted are not if not selected ,Select the check box and goto se38 and run RFSEPA01 program and then Then enter that GL account number and Document number 1 to 999999999 and company code and run & then check again fs10n and FBL3n it will match.

I suggest the easy stuff first:
1) quite Numbers and restart Numbers
2) reboot the computer
After that try opening the same document in another user space

Updated numbers now I can't open documents

I just updated to OS X Mavericks 10.9 and Numbers; now I can't open my previous Numbers documemts; any ideas as to how I can get them to open?

I haven't dared take the plunge yet, for fear of issues like this! But I did notice that Numbers for iCloud beta has been updated and will open previous Numbers documents, insisting on converting them to the new format.
If you have any of your old documents synced to iCloud you could try going to icloud.com, duplicating one of the old documents so you have the original untouched as a backup, opening the duplicate in Numbers for iCloud so it converts, close it, and then, when it's synced to the Mac try opening it in the new Numbers.
Would be interested in hearing if that works.

If you have older versions of excel and word that previously ran under the Rosetta emulator (allows PowerPC code to run on Intel system), they will no longer work with Lion.
You can use the Apple programs Pages and Numbers to access the files. They can be bought and downloaded from the App store. NeoOffice is available at http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php which has Lion support. OpenOffice doesn't talk to Lion support, it's at http://www.openoffice.org/

Slow respon when update Document Numbering

We have 7 branch and 4 different type of sales document. and we change our document numbering every month.
We have use SAP Business One for a year. So, we have large number of document numbering.
when we update and add new row in document numbering, we get slow respon. It can about 30 minutes every update.
how can we make it faster?
*we use 8.82 PL:08 version.

Hi Triadi,
Try to update Document Numbering when no user are logged on data or Ask your users to not to post any transaction during the period when you are updating Document Numbering.
This problem arise because when user are punching transactions on database as Internal Document No Changes every time a transaction is punched on Database.
This May be the reason.

Well, here's what I found out that works for me...
I had a Pages icon on my dock, and launching it brought up version 4.3. But I went to my Apps folder and found the new updated icon there and when I launced that it brought up version 5.01. So apparently the Apple update process left two versions launchable on my iMac. Weird...

If you try to invent your own syntax, you are starting on very wrong basis.
The required syntax is defined by the Numbers AppleScript's dictionary.
This one doesn't know what is a template.
This is why, in the link posted by badunit, I use an other scheme to create a new document.
I know that it's awful but it's the only one available at this time.
