Can't View Flash sites, Quicktime Logo Error

I have a Intel based Mac that was running Flash Player 8 for
my browsers, Safari, FireFox and IE. Things were going just dandy
until I came across a site that needed Flash Player 9 in order to
view. So I go to the Macromedia download center to get the latest
version of Flash Player 9 and install the Intel based Mac version.
Unfortunately, not only can I not see the Flash test page on
Macromedia's site but now I can see any Flash website at all in all
3 browsers. I get a Quicktime Logo with a question mark over it. I
went through every step on Macromedia's Flash Player
Troubleshooting list and no luck. Would anyone happen to know how
to fix this?
Thanks very much!

  • Can't view flash in Facebook - Anywhere else is fine!

Okay, so new laptop and, no matter what I do, I can't view flash in Facebook. When I click on the video I get an error saying "Flash Player upgrade required". If I click upgrade I am told by the adobe page that my player is already up to date.
I can view flash ANYWHERE else, but not in facebook. If a youtube clip is embedded in facebook I get the error message, but if I click through to the video on youtube and view it directly, it works fine.
I have tried everything. I have tried clearing my cache, deleting the adobe player cache, reinstalling my browser, re-installing flash player. Nothing I do will let me watch flash embedded in facebook. It makes no sense.
I am running Windows 7 - 64bit. Chrome is my browser, but I have exactly the same issue in any browser. I have disabled my virus scanner (avast) but the problem persists. This seems to be a fairly common problem judging by my google searches, but there never seems to be an answer.
This is a new laptop, so hardly anything installed.

can't install flash player on vista. error 1602

How do you do the installation?  For what web browser?
Try downloading the installer from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.

  • Cannot view Flash site in IE on a PC

I built my flash site and it runs on Firefox, Safari and
Opera. But then three people who are on PCs have told me that it
does not show up. It's either a blank screen or a shockwave logo.
Any ideas? I need PC people to be able to view my web resume.
    Thanks in advance.

Either the Windows computer doesn't have the Flash player
installed, or, your object tag is missing or poorly formed.

  • Can't view HTTPS sites after updating today

I just finished downloading and installing the latest available Apple software updates for 10.6, which included some items related to Safari, AirPort, Java, etc. Suddenly, I can't seem to load many HTTPS sites due to what I assume is a problem with loading their SSL certificates. Some sites I can load in Firefox just fine; others present a "risk" page allowing you to decide whether to trust the site. I have always been against Safari's silent refusal of such certificates, but now its handling of HTTPS sites seems even worse than before.
Can anyone else confirm a change in viewing HTTPS sites after the latest Apple updates? And is there a work-around for this, or do I have to go back to using Firefox?

    Hi ~Bee,
Well, initially, your assumption would have been incorrect. But I have since repaired permissions,
and now, yes: I still get the same errors in Safari after doing so. And after emptying the cache and trying again as well.
I did see some "will not be repaired" messages during the permissions repair process, so I ran it again, and still got the following messages:

  • Can't View Flash Content in Opera 9

    Hello,
I'm having viewing Flash content with Opera 9. I have downloaded and installed the latest version of Flash (9.0.18), and my other browsers have no problem showing the Flash content.
Am I missing something here with getting Opera 9 to display Flash movies, etc.? I can't figure out how to instruct the browser to display it.
    Many thanks,
    sarah

    Sheeesh, fixed it.
    Open Opera 9 Preferences
Click the Advanced Tab at the top
Select Downloads in the left column, you will get a Mime type window
Scroll and find .swf extension then click Edit
At the bottom of the window that opens it should be checked "Use plug-in" and show Shockwave Flash
Select Shockwave Flash and you will see another one listed as well, swap to it and restart Opera.
Somehow, even though I did uninstall all older components, it's found and used the wrong one.
Now Flash works fine in Opera 9, Safari and Firefox.

  • How can I view flash emails?

Is there an app that will allow me to view emails that come with flash-based video?  Thank you for your help.  Tom

A press release from Adobe announced a "new version of Adobe Flash® Media Server that can now deliver Flash technology to Apple iPhone and iPad devices," causing some confusion among users who know that Apple's devices do not support Flash at all.
In reality, Adobe will simply be adding the ability for its Flash-branded server product to serve standards-based HTML5 video in addition to Flash video.
Adobe later noted that, "with Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5, media publishers now have a single, simple workflow for delivering content using the same stream to Flash-enabled devices or to the Apple iPhone and iPad."
The move to add non-Flash output to its existing Flash development workflow was the solution Steve Jobs recommended Adobe take in April of 2010 when he penned "Thoughts on Flash," which ended the with the comment, "perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind."
Jobs roundly criticized Flash as being a proprietary technology controlled by Adobe, and noted that the majority of Flash content was simply web videos locked in the Flash format, much of which was already available to iOS users in non-Flash versions, such as with YouTube, Vimeo, Netflix and others.
Jobs also called out Adobe's Flash Player as having reliability, security and performance issues, noting that Adobe kept promising a mobile version that it simply could not ship throughout 2009 and into 2010. "We think it will eventually ship, but we’re glad we didn’t hold our breath," Jobs wrote. "Who knows how it will perform?"
Adobe has since shipped a mobile Flash Player for other platforms, including Android, but it continues to deliver the same performance, security and battery life problems that its desktop version exhibits. Fortunately, the majority of Flash content is simply web video and, as Jobs recognized a year and half ago, most of it is now available via alternative open standards.
Adobe's new support for the open HTTP Live Streaming protocol Apple developed and supports in its iOS mobile devices and on Mac OS X will help developers deeply invested in Flash to reach new audiences of iOS users and further erase the need for the Flash plugin on any platform.
Adobe's new video server tool will not benefit developers who create websites based on Flash or applets or games built in Flash, none of which is accessible from iOS devices or from PCs that have not installed Adobe's Flash Player plugin.

  • I suddenly can't view some sites on the internet due to adobe flash changes

Can anyone help me concerning Adobe Flash.  In the last few days I have been getting messages to download Adobe Flash and when I click download nothing happens expect a litte motion on the top on my bar on the right.  I have been able to view videos on most sites before this recent event.
    Thanks

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide ~/Downloads/ as the path, verify the file there is actually a Flash installer and not malware(the current dmg is 11.6MB), and then install it. You may want to download it from Adobe's site.

  • File Download Pop up when viewing flash site

I created a website with flash and everytime I look at it on
my computer is views ok. When I look at it on another computer it
goes to the website but when I try to click on the lnk to go to the
next page, I get a pop up message thats prompts me to open or
download. Wehn I click to open it say website not found...
Someone please help. This is what it says:
    File Download_Security Warning

    Type: Shockwave object, 3.62MB
    From:www.photographybykimledoux.com
    Here is the website..

As you probably guess I dont use IE.
When I searched for it on my computer, it did not come up, so I went to the MS download center and downloaded the Internet explorer for Windows 7 x64. Ran the installer but before it could finish, it gave my this error:
The link set me to this  site,  my responces the things on the site are as follows:
    I am running Win7 with Sp1,
I have run Windows Update to the latest updates,
I meet the specifications for IE11
I am not running an incompattable video card
    All updates are complete
I am running a x64 computer and have the x64 installer
I do not have any previous versions of IE on the computer
It looks as though the computer did not come with IE or it has been uninstalled at some point by a user. The installer is not giving any clues to what made it stop , so I am afraid that I can give you no more inforamtion about that.
The only other thing is the point about the .dll file problems. I think that there may be a serious problem with the computer regarding the .dll files as many of them seem to be broken/ corrupt... I can see no solution to that apart from maybe copy-pasting the broken ones over from my other computer that is working, might that work?
    Thanks!

At this point, Flash is not supported within a browser on iOS devices.

  • How can you view flash video on ipad

Is there an app that you can get that will let you watch flash video on your iPad? Since adobe flash is not supported on iPad

You can try one of the app/service combinations for playing Flash such as Skyfire , Puffin, or iSwifter. One of those might work for you, though they all have limitations and do not work with all Flash-based sites and services
    Regards.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.

That page gives you a taste of what is in store for these new features.
The page has hundreds (335) of page elements and takes a while to load even on a fast Internet connection.
Once loaded, slowly drag your mouse across the image used in one of the new photo album links. Drag right to left diagonally and you can "skim" through the images used in that page without actually loading that page.
A viewer can "download" nearly any file directly from the Web page. They can also download entire "collections" of images and even movies posted on those pages (no need for QuickTime Pro).
There are different page "background" colors for the viewers and a "slider" that can adjust the image display size. You can choose between "Grid, Mosaic, Carousel and Slideshow" displays without needing to reload the page.
Each image has a new "Info" window which shows the EXIF data found in the file. Users can also "Subscribe" to your image albums and they will download to your computer and show in your copy of iPhoto 8.
Does this page help you decide to upgrade?

  • Can't view flash on websites without clicking on word flash

I am on a mac running snow leopard.  I just downloaded flash player from Adobe.  I installed.  It's on my desktop.  IF i go to any website that has a flash player image, all I see on the screen is a grey window with the word Flash.  If i click on the word, then i see the flash, but it doesnt' happen automatically like it used to on my old g-5 mac..  Why?
also, I want the flash icon off my desktop, where can I put it, do I move it to applications folder?

Hi, you may want to read the system requirements for Flash Player to make sure your system is supported.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/systemreqs/
This is the Mac Troubleshooting Guide that may help:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html
When you use the Flash Player Uninstaller(need to do) and Reboot(restart your computer) then you need to use the Flash Player Installer to Install it, then Reboot. Flash Player is a browser plugin and works thru your browser. It is not a standalone
    Player.
I'm not that familiar with Mac, but the Flash Player icon may represent the Installer? Read the Troubleshooting Guide which may be helpful. I think you could use "Trash" to remove the icon? Not sure, just have read that somewhere.
    Hope this helps.
