Can the servlet access ejb by ejb's local home?

if yes, what is required?

I have a similar problem. I have a ServiceLocator that looks up HomeInterfaces (Local and Remote) for SEJB's and EEJB's. But it only works for RemoteHomeInterfaces. My guess is that you can only access these local interfaces if you're in the same VM. JBoss uses another VM than your client. I'm still looking for a solutions for my problem but i'm not sure if it's worth it.

  • Can the servlet/jsp engine be brought down

    Hello,
Can the servlet/jsp engine be scheduled for a "in-house patch" not affecting
the EJB Container? That means the jsp/servlet engine is brought down.
(HotDeploy is a development feature). Does any version of WebLogic provide
              any way to do this?
It is a single VM and I suppose that this is not possible. Just thinking out
              loud!!
              Thanks

Sorry, but there's no way to apply a hot-patch to the server. Good idea, but
              very tricky to implement!
If you were using a cluster with session-replication, you can cycle the
servers one at a time. The other servers will pick up where the
downed-server was working. You can then apply the patch, and bring up the
server again. Give it a few minutes (an hour to be safe!) to replicate from
the running server, then cycle the other server safely.

  • Can Java Servlets Access the Request's URL Fragment Identifier

As per RFC 1808 section 2.4.1 (if that is the right one to reference here):
"If the parse string contains a crosshatch "#" character, then the substring after the first (left-most) crosshatch "#" and up to the end of the parse string is the <fragment> identifier. If the crosshatch is the last character, or no crosshatch is present, then the fragment identifier is empty. The matched substring, including the crosshatch character, is removed from the parse string before continuing.
Note that the fragment identifier is not considered part of the URL. However, since it is often attached to the URL, parsers must be able to recognize and set aside fragment identifiers as part of the process."
I've noticed using Servlets, that I cannot get the fragment identifier that was used in the incoming URL. Is this intentional? And if so, where is that defined in the Servlet spec or documentation? If not, what is the appropriate way to get the fragment identifier from the incoming request?
I have noticed that when I send a redirect from a Servlet, that the fragment identifier ends up on the destination URL when the redirect is followed by a browser. But, absent a packet tracer at the moment, this, I believe, is the browser's doing and wasn't part of the Servlet's response.

  • How can the servlet engine create objects of interfaces?help

    hello,
I have this basic fundamental query...when using servlets i noticed that so many methods in the HttpServlet class take as arguments objects of the type "Interface"..where as basic principle in java is u cant instantiate interfaces...interfaces r mere templates which u implement by ur own custom classes.
For example the doGet method recieves from the servlet engine(servlet container) two arguments which r HttpServletResponse object and HttpServletRequest object..and u use these further to make use of the methods of the inmterfaces..which again is a mystery to me...why?
    here is why:-
since HttpServletResponse and HttpServletRequest r interfaces..they cant be instantiated...and now that the sevlet engine provides objects of these interfaces...how come u r able to to use the methods of these interfaces...for r they not empty methods?..
example how r u able to make the sendRedirect() method of HttpServletResponse interface work...is this method not an empty method?
there r several interfaces...whose objects r being used and passed in this similar fashion....(for example there r many methods that return an enumeration...which is used as if it were an ordinary class that can be instantiated..and whose methods r non empty emthods)
please help me resolve this mystery
    sheeba

Don't call me "u". The word is "you". Likewise "are" and not "r".
The servlet engine creates objects of concrete classes that implement those interfaces. If you want to find the names of those classes in your particular server, you could use for examplereq.getClass().getName()

  • How can the new MobileMe cloud calendars be published locally?

I tried upgrading to the new cloud-based MobileMe calendars twice before the forced upgrade date. Both times I was disappointed (as I was this time), because floating timezone events had their times shifted as though I worked for Apple (i.e. to Pacific Time). This is a bug which will just waste my time.
This is a question about something more pressing.
In the past I could publish my iCal calendars locally so that I could put them on a page accessible only to people inside the place I work.
On one of the previous upgrades, I checked that publishing locally still worked. The solution was not obvious, but it it did work: I could change the location of the calendar. Here is the solution in full:
       https://discussions.apple.com/message/12869330#12869330
Now when I try to use this solution, I see that the change location menu item seems to be permanently grayed out for calendars under my mobileme account. Does anyone have a new solution?
Here are some things I looked into without finding a solution:
Using symlinks to pretend the calendars were on my web server at work. The new calendars appear to be in one huge cache.
Looking in AppleScript to see if I could periodically export the .ics files over to the webserver. The dictionary for iCal is far too limited for this.
I could manually export .ics files as needed, but this is both painful and open for error---I really need an automatic solution which does not rely on having everyone at work pay for MobileMe.
    Help!

OK...after better keyword choices I did find that the 'change location' solution does work, but only if the calendar is first shared with the world, and then has its location changed:
      http://www.radbrooksolutions.co.uk/rs/Blog/Entries/2011/5/3_MobileMe_Calendar_Up date_and_PHP_iCalendar.html
Does anyone know if information in public calendars can be found in nefarious ways (like by Google)?
FWIW, I did try sharing privately to just myself, so that I could then subscribe to the calendar on the serving machine and push it out as a .ics file...but I cannot share a calendar with myself. Boooo.

  • Can the SYSDBA access the database from anywhere?

Hi, I have looked around the Internet for the answer to this question but couldn't seem to find anything. For example if I have a database which is going to be fragmented around a number of sites in the country will I be able to carry out database admin with the /as sysdba role?

It is not clear what you mean by 'fragmented' I figure out you are talking about several databases geographically distributed with data replication among them. You can perform the dba role virtually anywhere in the planet, it is not a problem, you only need to configure the password file so you can connect with the sysdba role from anywhere.
You should ensure the remote_login_passwordfile is set either to exclusive or shared and you have a valid password file. By default this was created by the dbca at database creation time, but you can create it manually with the orapwd utility.
It is important to specify both, the OS and DB versions, since there are several tools that should be configured, such as isqlplus, enterprise manager, or simply sqlplus, depending on the ports you are planning to open.

  • Can the Mac Mini G4 be connected to a home stereo?

    Hi,
I've been trying for days to find the right cable which will allow me to connect my G4 Mac Mini's headphone out port to either an optical or digital coax input on my home stereo.
If anyone has had any success with this, please let us know!

Doug, the G4 mini does not have optical/digital output capabilities. You can get a mini-plug to toslink adapter, as I have on my intel mini going to my stereo's optical input, but I do not believe it will work since the output port is not digital/optical.
As you saw in the other thread on PPC mini and audio output
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=935713&tstart=30
Your options are limited when going from analog output to digital/optical input.
If you do not have any composite/RCA type inputs available (red and white cable) perhaps a switchbox would suffice. There are many on the market, some with a remote if you do not wish to get up and change the input source to the box.
Perhaps going to a site like http://macaudiopro.digitalmedianet.com/ can give you some ideas/solutions to your dilemma.
As for cables, while Amazon is always a source with a number of options available, cablesforless.com, cables4sure.com cablestogo.com etc. are all online wholesalers/retailers of audio and video cables. If you are looking for quality vs. price you will need to shop around a bit, as the different options/style cables can get confusing. Especially for someone like me who just wants to plug the **** thing in!

  • Can a thief access my Apple account with my stolen iPod Classic?

My iPod classic is presumed stolen. Can the thief access my Apple account with the Classic? Do I need to contact Apple and de-register the device?

They cannot access your account using it. They could potentially extract your media and from that learn the email address of your Apple ID. They would need to crack the password by force. The device itself doesn't have any access to your account and cannot be de-registered for it.

  • Can the 3G service in an ipad be used in south america where at&t or verizon do not have services?

I want to buy a new ipad that will be mainly used in south america where at&t and verizon do not offer services. Can the 3G option be used with a local carrier?

Yes, but before you purchase, make sure you know whether the carriers in South America are GSM (AT&T model) or CDMA (Verizon).  GSM is much more widely used around the world than CDMA.

  • EJB to be used in the init of the servlet

    Hi,
We are using Weblogic6.1 SP2.We have a bean that is called in the init of the
servlet which is executed when the server starts up. The EJB is called properly
when used in system having already deployed EJBs(ie when it has entries in config.xml).
But if we put the EJB jars in the application directory and without putting the
entries in config.xml(which is the probable deployment scenario), the EJB to be
called on startup is not deployed and we get an error saying unable to resolve
jndi name. Can we control the sequence of events in Weblogic ie. forcing the EJB
to be deployed first before calling it in init of servlet. Any pointers will be
    helpful.
    Thanks in advance,

No we are still doing the development.

  • How can I access to an EJB from a JSP, using a taglib?

I'm trying to access to an EJB from a JSP using a taglib,
and I get the example in
              http://java.sun.com/j2ee/j2sdkee/techdocs/guides/ejb/html/Advanced5.html.
But I colund't run this example because in the weblogic Log appears many

              Can you help me?

Backing files is an option. If you need to do it from the controller, you
could use the Forward object. The forward object constructor can take a URL
object as a parameter. This should do the trick.

Hi, you have to use backing file to get what you want. In my case, I am
using a page backing file. Perhaps a portlet backing file can do thatalso.
Cmiiw, the redirect header makes the page redirected only if the httpheader
has not been sent to client. In your case, the header has been sent (i.e.
the portal header.jsp has been displayed, etc). So the header need to be
sent before anything else sent to client browser. This is where thebacking
    file comes handy.

  • Servlet accessing an ejb in separate jar

Don't know if this is possible??
    I have deployed interest.jar ejb...client is working..
I'm trying to access ejb/interest through the interestservlet.war.
The problem I'm having is setting up the web.xml & jboss-web.xml
to reference the deployeed interest ejb on the jboss server. The
servlet works fine if it's in the same interest.ear package.
The reason for this is to deployee ejb.jar once and change the servlet look for each different install.

actually, it's pretty easy. It took me a while because I couldn't find documentation on web.xml configuration. Everything is moving along fine.
