Hi I'm trying to setup SQL reporting services in a SharePoint 2013 farm consisting of:
4 WFE's
4 App Servers (NLB Central Admin x 4 servers)
4 App Severs for SSRS (Light limited SharePoint services running)
I've installed SSRS 2012 SP1 by following the guide (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492276.aspx) on one of the SSRS SharePoint 2013 servers and ensuring Reporting Services - SharePoint and Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products is selected.
All completed without errors and I have even upgraded to SP2 for troubleshooting but no joy.
I've then gone into SharePoint Central Admin and I cannot see SQL Reporting Service available In the list of runnning services on the server I have just installed SSRS on and going to manage service applications I cannot see in the new dropdown menu SQL
Reporting Services.
I have ran the following commands in the SHarePoint management shell:
Install-SPRSService and Install-SPRSSeviceProxy
and
get-spserviceinstance -all |where {$_.TypeName -like "SQL Server Reporting*"} | Start-SPServiceInstance
The reply was that the service was already online on the server.
So in powershell all seems ok but it does not appear in central administration.
I have also moved Central Administration to the SSRS SharePoint server too.
Any other suggestions? Here is the same problem but in SP2010 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6a21cc05-1f9b-49ad-a9bb-44aa5b3ce312/action?threadDisplayName=after-installing-sql-reporting-services-service-for-sharepoint-2012-service-is-not-in-the-list-of)
In my lab environment of a 4 server SP2013 farm it worked immediately when i installed it on the app server (CA host) so I dont think it is my install strategy.
I guess my next attempt is to install SSRS on an app server with central administration hosted.
ThanksI had the same issue on 2 different environments.
I had 2 application servers. One had Central Administration. I installed SSRS on the other one and it never appeared in the Service Applications in SharePoint.
When I also provisioned Central Administration on the other application server and went to the service applications using Central Admin on that server, the SSRS service application was there.
Since then I always install SSRS on the server which hosts Central Admin. No issues then. -
Sharepoint 2010 SQl 2008 r2 Reporting Services Integrated with Claims
i have a 4 server sharepoint 2010 farm all servers are windows 2008 r2 x64
two severs are sharepoint app/wfe servers
one server is SQL sharepoint content db server sql 2008 r2 enterprise
one server is SQL Claims Provider DB and reporting services on SQL 2008 r2
the site is behind a forefront tmg proxy firewall for both internal and external users and both locations are producing the same results.
the web application i am having an issue with consists of a primary web app claims enabled web app that only has NTLM enabled, with an extended extranet webapp that supports claims and NTLM.
there is surrently a site collection that has been configured for reporting services when i log into the site as a SQL Claims user i am able to run the reportbuilder as a content type using the New Report builder report content type from a library on
this site. Reportbuilder launches and i am once gain prompted to login i login with the same credentials i used to log into the site and reportbuilder opens up and then i am able to open datasourceas and reports.
When i log in to the same site collection as a domain user i am able to log in to the site and launch reportbuilder. When reportbuilder opens up i am prompted to log in, i insert my domain\username and password and nothing happens the login prompt appears again
blank on the back end it throws the following exceptions
1. Password check on 'username' generated exception: 'System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Microsoft.IdentityModel.Tokens.FailedAuthenticationException]: The security token username and password could not be validated. (Fault Detail is equal to Microsoft.IdentityModel.Tokens.FailedAuthenticationException:
The security token username and password could not be validated.).'.
2.An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: The security token username and password could not be validated.
any thoughts on where i should begin troubleshooting this.I think i am getting close i am now seeing a new error it seems that the sp farm account is unable my domain account when launching reportbuilder.

Unable to find an Instance of reporting services
Hi,
I doing a fresh installation of MBAM 2.5 and getting error "Unable to find an instance of Reproting service" during check prerequisites page.
Actually my SQL is running in cluster on different machine not on the same machine on which MBAM going to install.
And I don't how to bypass this screen so that I can configure the DB parameter for MBAM.
Please advise.Hi pawar,
Before starting the Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring (MBAM) installation, we must complete some prerequisites. One of the prerequisite is we must Install Microsoft SQL Server with SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS collation. And SSRS must be
installed and running during the MBAM Server installation. Configure SSRS in "native" mode and not in unconfigured or "SharePoint" mode. Then the user should have the following SQL Server Reporting Services instance rights: Create Folders and Publish Reports.
According to the error message, it seems that you haven’t installed Reporting Services in the same server. Please refer to the article to install the MBAM 2.5 Server:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn645331.aspx
Besides, since the issue related to MBAM. It is out of the support boundaries of our forum, I suggest you post the question in the following forum:

Under Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008, I have the following:
SQL Server Management Studio
Configuration Tools
Integration Services
Import and Export Data
Under Configuration Tools, I have the following:
SQL Server Installation Center
SQL Server Configuration Manager
SQL Server Error and Usage Reporting
Reporting Services Configuration Manager
I tried to enable Reporting Services through 'Reporting Services Configuration Manager' but I don't seem to have much control from this view. I see two boxes, one named Server Name (and it shows my server name) and the other is named Report Servicer Instance (and this is grayed out). If I click on the Find box next to Server Name, I get this message:
Report Server WMI Provider Error: Invalid Namespace
Details
Invalid Namespace
To get the Server Name I right-clicked SQL Server > Properties > General
Any ideas on how to make Reporting Services Configuration Manager work? Or, can you please give me more details on how to access "System control" => "Services"? I'm not seeing it anywhere and I'm not seeing any way to find "Sql Server Reporting Services". Basically, I'm trying to activate my SQL Server Reporting Services.
I am using SQL Server 2008 Express Management Studio. Is SQL Server Reporting Services included in Express Management Studio? I read, online, that it is, but I can't find it anywhere.
Thanks again!

At the top of the page it says, ‘Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Express with Advanced Services’, which seems like this is what I’m looking for, so I downloaded the file named ‘SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe’
Then, I cut that from my desktop and pasted it in my C-drive and I get a message that says, ‘this folder already contains a file named ‘SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe’, would you like to replace the existing file?’
I’m thinking…what the heck? Do I already have this thing? If so, why can’t I see SQL Server Reporting Services? Maybe I have it now, and I just don’t know how to access the reporting Services features…

SharePoint - Web Part - SQL Server Reporting Services Report Viewer Error.
Hi,
I was just having a bit of a fiddle with the differen't web-parts available to add on our local SharePoint site, and as one of my tasks is to have a report automatically open when the page is opened i thought i would try to add the web-part 'SQL Server Reporting
Services Report Viewer' just to see the outcome.
Now, I don't much care about viewing the report at this time, but imediately after trying to add the web part i am being displayed with an error and no matter how much i navigate away from the page or close the browser the particular link to the page i was
trying to insert the web-part into now displays an error.
The error simply says 'An unexpsected error has occured' with various 'Correlation ID:' each time.
Now i have a link to other parts or subsites of that SharePoint site and they work just fine, it's just when i try to click on the page where i wanted to put the web-part in it
still comes up with an error. This page just so happens to be the home page so it really does need to be fixed.
Please help!?
Many Thanks,
Plain_CluelessHi again,
Sorry for the bother, We have now fixed the issue for the time being.. all that was needed was a simple '?contents=1' at the end of the url which takes you to a menu where you can delete the
necessary web-part that was causing the trouble.
As for actually implementing the report onto SharePoint.. in future i will make Dev pages instead.. and it seems i may need to contact the admin side of building so they configure 'SQL Reporting
Services Report Viewer' properly.
Thanks a lot though!

Configuring Reporting services for SCCM 2012
Hi,
I just finish create SQL reporting services ( configure Database, report manager URL) in SQL 2008 R2 for SCCM 2012. When I open the Report option in SCCM console (Monitoring --> Report), no report listed there and then I try to add in Reporting service
point for it, but get an error message
"There is a problem connecting to the specific reporting server. Please check the connection and make sure SQL reporting service is running on the specified server"
I manually browse to http://sqlserver/reportserver or
http://sqlserver/reports , that is no any folder exist there (I assume when I configure reporting service it will automatic create a folder for it with all report inside?). Anyone can guide me on how to solve this issue?

SCOM 2012 Installation does not show the SQL Server Instance for reporting services
I have an issue when I try to install SCOM 2012 with the Reporting Server feature, so in the step that I have to select a SQL Server Instance I cannot do that, because as you can see in the picture no one option appears.
In my scenario I have a DCSERVER, SQLSERVER2008 R2, SCCMSERVER 2012 and in other server I are trying to install SCOM 2012. I are trying to use the same SQLSERVER to SCOM 2012.
Should I do other procedure on SQL Server before to continue? I will apreciate someone could say me what I need to do to resolve this issue.
Regards,
Paul Mendoza.Hi Paul
Can you confirm that SQL Reporting Services is installed on the server that you are doing the install.
For a lab environment where you have SCOM Management Server, Web Server on one server and SQL Server on another you need to:
- run setup on the SCOM Server and choose NOT to install reporting. The install here will create the OperationsManager database and OperationsManagerDW (reporting) database.
- run setup on the SQL Server where SQL Reporting Services is installed. Then choose to install reporting. You should then see the SQL Reporting Services instance on the above window which is blank in your screenshot.
Take note of the warning in that window - SCOM uses its own role based security within SQL Reporting Services and this can break other reporting. E.g. you can't install SCOM and SCSM reporting (SQL RS component) together.
Cheers
Graham

Can Centura SQL Base Can be Used as a Source for SQL Server Reporting Services
I have bunch of Centura Report Builder and need to show them inside .NET WPF UI. I was thinking to convert those reports to SSRS and then show. But database here is SQL Base
and want to know whether SSRS supports SQL Base as a source. Also let me know is there a way to show Centura Report Builder inside WPF without converting to SSRS.Hi JAISH,
In Reporting Services, a set of data processing extensions are automatically installed and registered on both the report authoring client and on the report server to provide access to a variety of data source types. But the SQLBase is not included.
However, custom data processing extensions and standard Microsoft .NET Framework data providers can be installed and registered by system administrators. So we can install and register the data processing extensions and data providers on the report server
to process and view a report; we can install and register them on the report authoring client to preview a report. But data processing extensions and data providers must be natively compiled for the platform where they are installed.
For more information about Implementing a Data Processing Extension, please refer to the following document:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-IN/library/ms154655.aspx
As the issue about how to show Centura Report Builder inside WPF, it related to WPF. It is out of the support boundaries of our forum, I suggestion you post the question in the following forum:

I have this situation where users are continually prompted to reinstall the RSClientPrint for a SQL Server 2008R2 Reporting Services setup. The reporting services databases are on a clustered install, and the reporting services themselves are on a
separate server. I have found the following article that almost addresses this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2295244
However, my question is does the involved cumulative update get installed on the box that contains the SSRS Installation, the box(es) that house the main SQL databases or both?
Also, it would be preferable to install ONLY the fix needed to address the actual issue if possible. When I peruse the cumulative update, I don't even see this issue mentioned in there and there are a whole lot of other fixes for problems we don't have
and this environment is very picky about what gets installed.
Any help would be appreciated.Hi SiberianKhatru59,
The KB article have pointed out that this issue occurs because Internet Explorer is requesting the current build RSClientPrint.cab file, and we should install CU2 for SQL Server 2008R2 on the Report Server to update RSClientPrint.cab file.
It's hard to say the effects for your environment after install CU for SQL Server 2008R2, we recommnd you test the SP/CU on test/dev environment and then implement to production environment. If you don't have the test/dev environment, I would suggest opening
a case with Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) (http://support.microsoft.com), and perform the action under Microsoft
guidance.

Can ODBC configuration data be stored in a Crystal Report?
Post Author: Gary W
CA Forum: Crystal Reports
We've been running some SQL statements in Access pulling data from a server/database. I decided to see if I could do the same thing in a Crystal Report with the intention of scheduling the report to run in our scheduler. I set up the ODBC on my workstation. I connected to it for my new report and used Add Command to enter the SQL statements. I added the command to my report and it ran fine. However, whenever I open the report to run it again I have to enter the password (which was initially entered when I set up the ODBC) to get it to run. I'm guessing this has something to do with the security on the server and, that said, I'm not going to be able to change it. Is there any way I can store the ODBC connection data including the user id and password in my report so it's there when needed? I can do this in Access, but can't figure out how to do it in Crystal Reports.
I use Crystal Reports XI.
In Access the line I use is:
ODBC;Description=Employee Badge system;DRIVER=SQL Server;SERVER=pmc-rfd-ap19;UID=userID;PWD=password;DATABASE=OF_SiteData
where userID and password are replaced with the actual values.
Thank you.Post Author: V361
CA Forum: Crystal Reports
When you setup the connection in ODBC, Select the "Enter connection string and add the following (Substitute your connection information of course)
DSN=RPTPROD;Server=RPTPROD;User ID=USER;PWD=USERPASS
This should work. -
Visio layout integrated with Maps on Reporting Service
Hi there,
We have an idea at my office to develop an office map to assist the employees with finding meeting rooms as well as where other people sit around the office.
Is it possible to office develop layouts using Visio and then exporting these office layouts to SSRS?
If this is possible we would want to develop parameterized reports on SSRS that the users can specify their filters and the office layout is displayed using the map controls.
If you know any helpful links can you please assist me.
Regards
Tibz
regards TibzHi TibzLebese,
Per my understanding you want to create and map to map the office layout, such as the meeting rooms location and people sit, right?
In fact, the SSRS 2008 R2 and later version have the function to create an map. There are three ways to create a new map layer. Maps are based on spatial data that typically consists of points, lines, and polygons. For example, a polygon can represent
the outline of a county, a line can represent a road, and a point can represent the location of a city. Each type of spatial data is displayed on a separate map layer as a set of map elements.
In your scenario, your data should be point coordinates, so I suggest to add the map point layer to display the location of the meeting rooms and the people sit.
Before to add the map point layer to display the location, we should correctly create the SQL Server spatial query which contains Spatial data, spatial data include coordinates that define geographic or geometric elements.
Article about details information about the creation of the map for your reference:

Sharepoint and SSRS integration Error Requested registry access is not allowed.
I have integrated SSRS with sharepoint foundation 2010, it was running fine but suddenly its starts giving me error as -
"An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the Reporting Services Service Application mapped to this web application is available OR the report server is available

content. ---> System.Security.SecurityException: Requested registry access is not allowed."
Now i am not able to read reports or cant access all database options in sharepoint,it says
registry access is not allowed
I tried to reset encryption key and allowed all access to registry keys buts its giving same error .
Please suggest me what should i do now, i stuck here...Hi Bhagyashri,
From your description, there have two questions in the environment:
"Requested registry access is not allowed" while access SharePoint sites
and "The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key that is used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database" while viewing reports
For the first issue, the cause is the SharePoint web service account can't access some registry keys.
For the second issue, the cause is that the report database was restored from another server, and the encryption key was not restored correctly.
To fix the issue, please:
Follow "solutions" in this article
http://blogs.technet.com/b/spsforum/archive/2011/11/02/quick-solution-5-requested-registry-access-is-not-allowed.aspx to fix "Requested registry access is not allowed"
Restore the encryption key again, or please delete the key and then reset every credential setting in SSRS data source connection

Strange performance issue in SSRS SharePoint integrated / Kerberos
Hi,
current setup / situation:
Four server farm for a BI Portal:
SQL Server instances
SSAS instances
SharePoint apps (SSRS, Central Admin ...)
SharePoint frontend
Three different environments (Dev, Test, Prod) with the same configuration (servers, versions, CPU/RAM,...)
Kerberos properly configured (as far as we can see) pushing the current user credentials forward from the SharePoint frontend to the SSRS integrated service app to the SSAS OLAP cube.
Problem:
When we connect the report on dev to the dev cube, report execution time is about 7 seconds. In the execution log we can see in the additional info field, that we have a ConnectionOpenTime of a couple of milliseconds (~ 20-40).
When we connect the report on test to the test cube OR to the dev cube OR the dev report to the test cube, we have runtimes of about 60 seconds with ConnectionOpenTime of a Little bit more than 2000 ms.
When we change the data source connection to a fixed Windows account, the runtime drops down to about 7 seconds. When we switch back to "Use current user credentials" the runtime stays at the 7 seconds for about 1-2 hours, then in drops back to
60 seconds.
Question:
What can cause this huge ConnectionOpenTime? Is it AD/DNS related? Claims To Windows Token Service? Any other caching/OS issue?
Thanks for any input.
KR
Rainer
RainerHi Rainer,
The issue is little complex. I suggest that you could try to narrow down the issue deeper with below steps:
1. Enable the verbose log on Sharepoint side.
2. Capturing the SQL Server profiler trace on both test(slow) and dev(fast) environment.
3. The same, RS exectionlog3 table
Then reproduce the issue on both fast and slow environment, we need to compare both the Sharepoint ULS log and RS exection log to find out the slowness part.
Could you please follow the below article for how to narrow down the issue with all logs?
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/psssql/archive/2013/07/29/tracking-down-power-view-performance-problems.aspx
Since you have found out the slowness is at ConnectionOpenTime , so we should focus on the Sharepoint frontend and SQL Server reporting service side. The ConnectionOpenTime should not reach the SSAS instance.

Changing Architecture Design - SSRS Sharepoint Integrated Mode
Hi. I have a multi-server SharePoint configuration I am trying to simplify and was wondering if I could get some advice here. I am not very knowledgable of SharePoint but have a good understanding of how distributed server architectures basically function.
Anyway, besides the SharePoint web front servers, we have a dedicated SQL Server 2008 R2 server for all the content databases. We also have a separate report server with an instance of SSRS 2008 R2 running in SharePoint Integrated mode. The report databases
(ReportServer, ReportServerTempDB) are hosted on the SQL Server server, so the only thing running on this report server is the actual SSRS windows service. I basically want to remove the report server from the picture so I was thinking of adding SSRS
(in Integrated mode) to the existing SQL Server installation on the database server and use the existing Reporting Services databases. From what I've read regarding SSRS and SharePoint integration, this is an acceptable design. Does anyone see any
implications for this setup change? What would be the steps to complete this change? I appreciate any helpful insights you might have.
I am also curious in the actual role of the Reporting Services service. Which server would be doing the report processing? The one running the SSRS service? The one hosting the databases? The SharePoint server itself?
Thanks!
Leroy G. BrownI have further updates here with my issue:
i've been installing the SSRS 2012 SharePoint 2013 Integrated Mode on a single server.
the catch was that i've used the SQL server 2012 with sp1 media, and it was supposed to have the sp1 installed with it...
i have downloaded the
SP1 and installed it again .. and this has solved the issue for me
not the deleting and creating the service application again
hope my feedback helps
