Can we get a Java FX 8 SubSpace?

I was going to suggest this before the scheduled update to the amazing forum we have now, but the thread was closed already, and no one was able to comment anymore( I was late).
I feel there soon will be a lot of questions just for 8, and that will be a lot different from the 2.x questions.  As well as bugs and such not associated with 2.x.
I don't mind sharing forum space with 2.x users, nor(hopefully) do they mind sharing it with the FX8 users, but I feel we should get another "SubSpace" at some point.
It also might not be a good idea since 8 isn't really used by many(I only have seen myself and maybe 2-3 other users) who have asked FX8 questions.
Just curious how others feel?

Thank you for your attention. I really appreciate it.
Can we get a look at this latest pre-press version?You will have ask the author. He doesn't read this forum.I was sort of hoping you (or someone else who reads the forum) would ask for us, if you consider it a reasonable idea. You have a little more purchase seeing as you know him (gafter?) personally. ie "Dear colleague, I thought I should let you know that the throngs are clamoring for a look at the latest version of the jls3. Perhaps we can release it informally, somehow?"
I don't know - maybe it's going to come out next week. It's tough, though, not knowing precisely when! It has been Real Soon Now for a while.
Thanks for trying to answer my question. Those two RFEs are indeed interesting, but don't quite apply to my question. I see now where I got confused, however:
Basically my problem was just that "intersection types" sound alot like those synthetic type variables "Capture of ? whatever". They come up during capture and inference, you can't write them textually, and they have the same members as a type variable with the same bounds.
Upon further review, I see now that they are not the same thing. Please excuse me.
I guess my confusion just comes from the fact that type variables with non-nulltype lower bounds are not normatively described in the section for type variables. Lower bounds for type variables are not mentioned at all except by reference, in these two places:
"If Ti is a wildcard type argument of the form ? super Bi..."
"a type variable is a direct supertype of its lower bound."
So... it seems like: either there needs to be a mention of lower bounds in the definition of type variables, or there needs to be a 'subtype' of type variables called "captured variables" or something similar.
interface TypeVariable {
     List<Type> getUpperBounds();
interface CapturedVariable extends TypeVariable {
     Type getLowerBound();
}no?

    how can i get a java application on my mac pro?

    I'm not sure I understand the question. If the application is a standalone applet, you download it as you would any other application or file. If the applet is embedded in a web site, just go to the appropriate web page.
    If you can provide more specifics about what it is you are trying to download/accomplish, perhaps we can be of more specific assistance.
    Regards.

    pjava is pretty much the same as regular java 1.1.x, so you could just look at any java examples. www.javasoft.com has a learning center with tutorials if that's what you're looking for

    Such as a html file just like a dictionary.Well, the API documentation I posted a link of in reply #1 is not an explanation of how to use the Java classes. It is more a reference. When you need a thorough explanation, I recommend doing some tutorials, or buying a book.

  • Can't get the java tray icon or the console to appear

    I can't get the java tray icon or the console to appear on any system that I've tested my applications in.
    I'm using Windows XP mostly and I've also tested on Windows 2000 and 2003. I'm using jre 1.6. I've already set the icon to appear and the console to show on the advanced tab on the java icon in the control panel. I've even tried another application from another author thinking it might be something in the code of my own application.
    I need the console available on the client systems for troubleshooting but I can't get it to open and I can't open it manually from the tray icon because the icon is not there.
    I seem to remember seeing the tray icon and the console on other systems/applications in the past so what do you think is the problem?

    AFAIK, the Sun/Oracle-provided "Java Console" only works (appears) with applets and Java Web Start applications. It shows some information that is unique to those environments, and provides a place for System.out data to be written.
    For a Java application, if the application is started with the java command (as opposed to the javaw command) System.out data is written to the command/cmd window that is created.
    If you need more that that for an application, then [this article|http://www.developer.com/java/other/article.php/630821/Creating-a-Custom-Java-Console.htm] may be of interest. It's old, but still appears to be valid. Note that current versions of Java contain a class java.io.Console. This class should be able to be used as a replacement for the custom Console class that is used in the article.

  • How can i get & use java true type fonts in my applet

    Hi,
    I could get the System fonts in my Applet by making use of Toolkit.getFontList()
    I have used getGraphicsEnvironment to get fonts but my browser doesn't support it.I get ClassNotFoundException.
    How can I get & make use True Type Fonts in my Java Applet.
    Regards
    Siva

    To use getGraphicsEnvironment, you must convert your HTML with the HTMLConverter -- this will tell the browser not to use the native JVM to run your applet but to use a Java plugin to run the applet. If you cannot find HTMLConverter in your system, you may have to download it from Sun's web site.

  • Updated to 3.6.15 and now I can't get anything java to run

    Ever since I updated to v. 3.6.15 (from 3.6.13, never ud'd to .14) I can't get anything that uses java to load. I just get a white screen and nothing else. This seems to be exactly what happened to people when they ud'd to .14, and the fix is suppose to be .15, but that's what hosed my java!
    I have uninstalled and gone back to .13, and I've reinstalled java. I even updated again to .15 and nothing is fixing it.
    When I uninstalled I left all my fav's and info in my folder.
    My OS is XP home. And I can get java to work via IE.
    Please help! I wan't my Firefox back!

    I have the exact same problem. I updated to 3.6.12 and encountered the "blank page" printing problem. I ended up re installing Firefox 3.0.19. Printing works great. Also Firefox 3.5.15 gave the same blank page printing problem. I also installed "Better privacy" and " Ghostery"at the time of updates. These programs do not run under the 3.0.19 version. Not sure if if they are related to the problem. Good luck and hope a solution to the problem comes about.

  • Can I get the Java version of mobile tv with the r...

    I would like to know how to get the Java version of mobile tv with the removed mobile tv application, so I can view the Sky EPG programme guide on my E90.
    Can anyone tell me how I can get it please. The version from sky will not work but reading other posts on here suggests that the java version might.
    Please help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Sky have made it near impossible to get this application on current phones.
    Luckily for you the java version is available for download as part of this useful guide.
    The instructions are for the N95 but should work on an E90. I've got it working on an N82 and N96 at the moment.
    Just a note about the java app: It says it's for a sony but it works perfectly on a nokia. Not sure how it will look on the E90's big screen so if it doesn't work try the front screen.

  • How can i get all java class names from a package using reflection?

    hi,
    can i get all classes name from a package using reflection or any other way?
    If possible plz give the code with example.

    You can't, because the package doesn't have to be on the local machine. It could be ANYWHERE.
    For example, via a URLClassLoader (ie from the internet) I could load a class called:
    com.paperstack.NobodyExpectsTheSpanishInquisitionI haven't written it yet. But I might tomorrow. How are you going to determine if that class is in the package?
    This subject comes up a lot. If you want to do something a bit like what you're asking for (but not quite) there are plenty of threads on the subject. Use google and/or the forum search facility to find them.
    But the answer to your question, as you asked it, is "you can't do that".

  • How can I get the Java 6 web plugin back?

    The latest update to Mountain Lion has broken the website I use to work from home remotely (a java web applet provided by the company I'm working for).  This is because the Oracle Java 7 web applet has severe performance issues when instantiating an RDP link that render it unusably slow.
    Currently, the advice being sent out to the 25,000 employees of the above organisation is to use a Windows desktop.
    I myself *need* to be able to work remotely from home, ideally on a Mac and from within OS X.
    Is there any way I can restore the previous Java 6 web plugin to Safari?

    Excellent, thank you for that.  I had managed to replace the old web plugin by using Time Machine (and finding out that the plugin was previously a soft-link), but the link above gives a lot more detail and is really the "proper" solution.

  • How can you get a java program working on a cell phone?

    I was thinking of making some stuff for cell phones so i was wondering how you get a normal java program to work on cells.

    its all j2me - midlet package....Huh? The jsr-118 MID profile alone has 11 packages, one of which is javax.microedition.midlet. Notj2me - midlet.
    works best on nokia phones.Sez who? You seem to be confusing Java ME with Symbian C.
    you can use net beans midlet packge add-on.Only it's called the NetBeans Mobiliity Pack.
    Its easy to use and has lots of tutorials.Ditto for the Wireless toolkit for CLDC.
    just search on google.Yes, but with which keywords?
    @OP:
    NetBeans mobility pack comes with a short tutorial and several samples, you also need to download the latest WTK as the ver. 2.2 which comes bundled with NetBeans is just too buggy to work with. Then there are the manufacturer-specific SDKs from Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and (maybe) others.
    If and when you get started in Java ME aka j2me, it will be appropriate to post any questions you might have on the mobility forums, not here.
    Google "j2me tutorial" for many good hits.
    luck, db

  • How can I get my .java back from my Bean

    I am using Forte CE v3. I created a simple frame with buttons, etc using the Gui Development tool. I customized where necessary for actions, etc. I used to be able to see and edit the code, but I think I turned this GUI into a bean and now I can't.
    All I can do is 'execute bean' and change some simple bean properties. When I look in the folder that houses the file, I see .class file and .form files, but no .java files.
    Can you explain how I can get my file back so I can edit it? I'd greatly appreciate any assistance.

    You're right. I found it and got it to work. For some reason, the .java was actually a .java~ and Forte wasn't seeing it as a editable file.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Hi, I have the newest update of Fire Fox which is 10.0.2. I can't get the Java plugin to download to Firefox.

    I am wanting to get Java working on Firefox so I can utilize chat rooms and other programs that use Java, and no it is not Javascript that I am talking about. Every time I go to a site that utilizes Java it tells me that I need to download the Java plugin. When I click on the link it starts to download the Java plugin, but instead of installing the plugin it installs Java for Internet Explorer instead.
