Can we peek into System V message queue?

Hi, there.
I have to processes A and B, talking through system v message
queue. For debugging purposes, I wish to attach a third
process C to that message queue and print out what info
process A and B are exchanging.
Is that possible?
thanks

It is starting in Solaris 8, Update 2 (The 10/00 release), but not previously.

I can't log into FaceTime or Messages, checked that my ID and password are correct, checked that settings are set correctly.  Could it be that latest OS download changed my configurations that disable access?

    Update to above question:
    Hello All,
To anyone with the same problem described above, on THEIR iPad (if it is running iOS 7.0.2):
Go to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; DELETE your *******@btinternet.com e-mail account, that you originally set up either using 'Other', or the 'BT' option which I am sure was in the list previous to the iOS 7 update.
Then ADD a NEW account choosing YAHOO from the list of options. DO NOT USE 'OTHER'.
Enter the correct details just as you (almost certainly) had already done in your previous attempts using 'other'.
When you see the 'verifying......' and 'the blue ticks' you should be able to exit settings and open your mail app and then receive all your 'old' e-mails again, AND be able to SEND as well.
All my 'old' e-mails, were NOT found in the 'old e-mail' folder though. THEY are still in my inbox.
So this fix worked for me.
After I deleted my account from 'OTHER' and put it in Yahoo, I like other people also ended up with more folders.
I hope this works for you on YOUR Apple devices.

  • Strange messages on boot, can't get into system

My computer was ~1 month unbooted and `pacman -Syu`d couple of times at this time. Now at boot it spits out strange messages like this:

I was able anyway to boot into my system with Arch LiveCD (kernel 2.6.20) giving kernel root=/dev/sda3 option at boot. I tried compiling 2.6.27.1 and using this new vmlinuz and kernel img (made `oldconfig` from newest livecd /proc/config.gz) , but problem persists. Is it somehow related to I8042 controller? I've set CONFIG_SERIO_I8042=y.
I have also tried adding acpi=off, noapic and irqpoll kernel boot parameters, and with acpi=off I get into

  • Lost root passwd; can't log into system

I have an UltraSPARC 5 that's currently running Solaris 8. I haven't used it for years (long story) but am not trying to get it back in action. The problem is that I can't remember the passwd for root (or any other login, for that matter). I wanted to do a reinstall of either Solaris 8 or try out Solaris 9 but the system just boots straight into the existing OS load. Is there a way to force the boot sequence into the OK prompt? I'm afraid my Solaris/SPARC is very rusty these days.

    Hi
    1. You will need to know the root partition (/dev/sd0a or /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0).
    2. Hit the STOP-A or L1-A to halt the system.
    3. Boot into single user mode, either from CDROM (boot cdrom -s) or across the network (boot net -a).
    4. Mount the root partition on /a (mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /a).
    5. If you are using a Sun console, type "TERM=sun; export TERM".
    6. Remove the encrypted password from the root line of one of the follwing files:
    a. For SunOS 4.x - /a/etc/passwd
    b. For SunOS 4.x with shadow passwords/C2 - /a/etc/passwd.adjunct
    c. For solaris 2.x - /a/etc/shadow
    7. Now change directories to the root (cd /)
    8. Type "umount /a"
    9. Now reboot into single-user mode (boot -s). The system will not have a root password. Use the passwd command to enter a new password.

  • Can't paste into template - error message

I've got a site that was made years ago (I inherited it). I'm
    converting it to CSS.
I made a template, but when I try to copy and paste from the
old web pages into an editable region I get an error message:
"Making this change would require changing code that is

If I copy one paragraph at a time, it will work. Below is an

with Reprinted from... Both of them at a time won't work.

  • Can't Find Base System Error Message

    Hello,
I tried to install the new operating system and got a message saying the disk was dirty and needed to be cleaned. I did and the next error message I got was that my "Base System" could not be found. I ejected the disk and all I get is a spinning wheel and my MAC will not reboot. Has anyone had this happen?
    Thanks,
    radriand

This is happening to many other users where the optical drive doesn't read the Leopard DVD correctly. I had the same issue. Finally, I resorted to installing via Target Disk mode.

  • Balky trackpad - Can't get into System Preference

My month old MacBook Pro runs Mac OS X 10.6.4. For no reason I can determine, the trackpad now requires 2 finger click to initiate program. The 2 finger click initiates a dialog box which gives me the choice to open the program with another 2 finger click. When I go to System Preferences I can open none of the preferences, even with the 2 finger click. When I open About This Mac from the Apple icon in the upper left, I can't close it. Any other program appears behind the About This Mac box in the middle of the screen.
The only way to quit System Preferences is to force quit (Option, Command, esc). Then I can't close the Force Quit Applications program or the About this Mac. A 2 finger click on the Force Quit Application red "quit" button causes the button to light up, but when I move the cursor off of the button, the red light goes out. A 2 finger click does nothing.
I have restarted, Shut Down, Forced Shut Down,

Try resetting the SMC. Info here:

  • Message Queue vs RFC Queue

Can anyone tell me what's the difference between Message Que and RFC Queue?
    Thanks
    Mark

    Dear,
Connectionless programming involves using a queue to hold user input to another application or server. Here, we may not have a permanent connection to the application or server. Instead you log your input in a queue and the other application or server then takes it from the queue, processes it, and sometimes it may put the result back to the same queue or to a different queue. Unlike UDP, here there is no chance of message or data loss once you log it into queues.
The Connection oriented is different from the aforementioned and talks about any standard database system (DBMS, RDBMS, OODBMS and ORDBMS) available these days. Presumably, I don't think that there should be an explanation required for connection oriented programming. Unlike TCP/IP, there is no chance of data packet loss and it will bring the data packet to the required destination.
In short, message queue is purely connectionless and gives an assurance that it won't lose any data which is in the queue.
Message queue will be used :
a.Storing insignificant information in the message queue while your database server is busy with other real time processing.
b.Process user input which is given by the user after getting supporting information from other source or applications that are not active or ready at this stage.
c.Because of database server outage, you might require keeping user input in the message queue and processing it as and when the database comes online.
d.Exchanging data with a mainframe system like SAP. Personally, the real time communication with SAP is often a problem. In such cases, the SAP system uses message queue for storing and forwarding information where real time communication is not possible at that time.
    RFC Queue:
Communication between applications in different systems in the SAP environment includes connections between SAP systems as well as between SAP systems and non-SAP systems. Remote Function Call (RFC) is the standard SAP interface for communication between SAP systems. RFC calls a function to be executed in a remote system.
In short, essentially application infrastructure and business requirements determine whether you should use a message queue or not. Personally, I would suggest that itu2019s a good idea to work with a tool for a while so that you can get to the solution in which you should use it.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports (not "Diagnostic and Usage Messages") for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. I know the report is long. Please post all of it anyway.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Any idea how to fix this?
Here's another problem that might be related to this: my "Private" calendar was published in 10.4 but now the webdav server that was used for this is no longer existent (and can't be setup again).
So I wanted to unpublish my Private calendar but this wasn't possible. When trying to unpublish it I get the error message "This calendar could not be unpublished. Authentication information may be incorrect."
If I select the "Cange location..." menu entry in the context menu of the Private calendar I still see the webdav server address and the Login and Password fields are filled. But because this server no longer exists publishing is no longer possible. Which is fine with me.
So, how can I get rid of the publishing? Because I get tons of error messages in system.log, too, for this behaviour. Everytime the system tries to publish this calendar...
    Thanks,
    Stefan.

I am not much of a help, but I just wanted to say that my iCal just experienced the same problems for the first time today...

  • How to write messages into system log(sm21) using c_write_syslog_entry

    Hi,
May i know how to write my application messages into system log(sm21)
using "c_write_syslog_entry". Any explanation regarding the Type. ID, Data
will be useful with examples. Incase of any other FM's or C functions does
the same Please let me know.
    Thanks
    Prasath

    Hello Prasanth
I agree with Kareem that you should prefer the application log. If interface IF_RECA_MESSAGE_LIST is available on your SAP system this is the first choice for collecting messages AND storing them as application log.
For an example you may have a look at my Wiki posting [Message Handling - Finding the Needle in the Haystack|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/profile/2007/07/09/MessageHandling-FindingtheNeedleintheHaystack]
Not shown in this example is the storage of the application log. However, if you look at method CF_RECA_MESSAGE_LIST=>CREATE you see that you can add the application log references here.

  • Problem with GlassFish and Sun Java System Message Queue

    Hi,
I used application server PE.8 and I upgraded to Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9.0 Update 1 Patch 1, and I changed all my CLASSPATH and everything. My system is working fine, but the Sun Java System Message Queue that I used before is still showing the queues and physical queues of the previous application server, not the new one. Do you know if there is way to change that and link it to the new version?
    thanks

Use an ESB like ServiceMix to bridge JMS providers
    http://servicemix.org/
Or write your own MessageListener to consume from one JMS and publish on another one. Be careful with queues to avoid loosing the ordering - so you probably want to use a single MessageListener per subscription/queue - or to take advantage of Tibco's exclusive queues to ensure ordering is preserved. If ordering doesn't matter then don't worry too much about it and maybe have a pool of consumers to improve throughput
