Can we return a value in two field based on a value select in LOV?

Hello expert.
i have a lov attached to a non-bind text field. when i select a value from non bind field lov, a record group of another LOV attached to a database item field generated. both text field are in same block.
LOV record group query of non-bind field is:
select cli_desc,cli from ivt_cli_mst
mapping is done for same lov field.
as: LOV record group query of database item_field :blk_stg_mst.item_cd is
select a.item_cd,b.short_desc
from storg_mst a,item_mst b
where a.item_cd = b.item_cd
and substr(a.item_cd,3,2) = :blk_stg_mst.nb_cli_cd(non bind LOV attached field)
and a.store_cd= :blk_store_mst.store_cd
order by item_cd
requirement:
i want as i select a value from LOV in non_bind field , value display in non_bind field as well as database item_field:
i.e in :blk_stg_mst.item_cd also.
please help.
thanks yash

hi,
assign LOV to database item.(as usual setting the lov reuturn column to it). in the when validate item of database field assign value to no db field(something like if :db column is not null then :nondb_col := :dbcolumn).

  • Changing fields based on database values

    Hi all,
    I have one form and two drop -down fields. The fields are Call Type and Sub Call Type and are on the SAME form. I pull data from the Call Type from the database. When the user selects a particular Call Type, I need to go back to the database and pull in values associated with that particular Call Type.
    This is the method, that I am using:-
    1) I first populate the Call Type drop down field by using a Server Side Method to fill in values for the Call Type and calling the database.
    2) I then call a method called as PopulateSubCallType by using the property On Change Invoke for the Call Type field.
    In this method I again call the database and based on the Call Type selected by the user, I pull in the associated Sub Call Types and store them in an array.
    3) I also call the same array to populate the Sub Call Types based on Call Types. But the drop down field for Sub Call Type is not auto-populated based on the values from the array. The array values although pulled up from the database are not shown on the form.
    Can you tell me a way to auto-populate the Sub Call Type from the database based on the Call Type selected by the user but on the SAME form.
    I AM NOT USING JSP's but ONLY ALBPM 6.0 PRESENTATIONS.

    refreshValidValues("someAttribute") is a method that comes with BPM Object presentations.
    This one line in this method will work because it causes the attribute (child in this case) to automatically invoke the method you created for retrieving the valid values of the children of the parent.
    Your server side method that dynamically returns valid values of the children based on the parent selected should be looking something like this:
    for each ...
    select * from child
    where parentOfChild = parentAttribute
    In this example the name of your parent attribute is "parentAttribute" column in the child database table that contains the parent's id is "parentOfChild".
    This causes the list of children to auto populate in the child combo dropdown automatically.
    To summarize - at runtime here is what happens:
    a) since the parent has a dynamic method that populates its valid values, as the presentation initializes the SQL for the valid values of the parent is run.
    b) the parent's combo dropdown is populated with a list of valid values of the parent
    c) the end user selects one of the parent's names from the combo dropdown
    d) this causes the method to fire that has only one line. This one line has the text "refreshValidValues("nameOfTheChildAttributeGoesHere")
    e) since the child has a dynamic method that populates its valid values, when the previous step caused this child attribute to refresh its valid values, the SQL in the method that dynamically retrieves the valid values of the child is run.
    f) the end user clicks the combo dropdown on the child's attribute and sees that the child valid values (based on the parent that was just selected) now appear.

  • Setting the value of a field based on a dropdown list

    I am using the latest production release of JHeadstart 10.1.3.0.91. I am trying to set the value of a field based on selecting the value of another field (drop down list). The drop down list field has the following attributes set autoSubmit="true" immediate="true" valueChangeListener="#{jhsPageLifecycle.updateModelValue}".
    The other field has the partialtrigger set to the first field. ie "depends on" selection from JHeadStart file. The value of the second field is set in the setter of the VO RowImpl java file.
    The value of that field is only populated on the screen if it is set to disabled="true". This seems a bit bizzare behaviour. Can you explain why it cannot set the value of the field when it is not disabled.

    Worked out that if i set the "Clear/Refresh value" attribute on the field that i want updated then it will work ok

  • Return Lowest Value of Two Fields

    Hi,
    I have two fields that users manually enter into a form.  Value1 and Value2.
    Does anyone suggestions on the best way to use JavaScript to return the lowest value of the two fields?
    Thanks,
    Natalie

    Now that I am testing usability a little, I am wondering if I can save people a step and let them leave it blank (not make them enter None).  That would be more user friendly I think...
    Could the script be changed to return v1 if v2 is blank and v2 if v1 is blank?
    I tried this below, but I'm sure the set and otherwise is not quite right...
    // Custom calculate script
    (function () {
        // Get the field values, as strings
        var s1 = getField("Value1").valueAsString;
        var s2 = getField("Value2").valueAsString;
        // Attempt to convert to numbers
        var v1 = +s1;
        var v2 = +s2
        // Set to "None" if either field is not a number
        // Set to v1 if v2 is blank
        // Set to v2 if v1 is blank
        // Otherwise, set to the smaller number
        if (!s1 || !s2 || isNaN(v1) || isNaN(v2)) {
            event.value = "None";
        } else {
            event.value = Math.min(v1, v2);

  • Update/Insert into two fields based on value of one.

    How would I do the following in ADDT.
    Example:
    I have a database about dogs. When user completes form they make a selection from a recordset feed drop down box of breeds. Lets say they select "PUG" based on the selection two fields are populated from the same recordset size="small" and color="brown".
    I hope I've explained this well enough
    Thanks!

    I think I understand. I'm using two forms One to select the item from a list. I'm passing that items value to the next page where I'm placing that value into a query which will give me the options available based on the query results?
    >>
    what I meant, is first have the user insert the new record and let him specify the desired "breed" already there -- the following page(s) will need to make sure that he´s going to update the newly inserted record with additional values, that´s why you should use the "SELECT dog_id FROM dog_table ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 1" - query on page 2. However, once this new record had been clearly identified "by id", you can add whatever options available in the secondary table which are related to the "dog_id" (breed) that has been stored when inserting the new record. Maybe *I* don´t get it, lol ;-)
    >>
    I currently do this the dropdown value to a case statement that takes the value of the dropdown and determines the correct values for the database update
    >>
    OK, but when each dog just has one option
    (thought it were two ones: "color" and "size"), isn´t your existing dependant dropdown enough for specifying that "based on breed" option without having to use a hidden field at all ? Ah well, have you ever used ADDT´s / Kollections "dependant drop-down" wizard -- that should do it for one option
    >>
    hidden field that I need to update value based on what the value is above
    >>
    humm -- updating the value of a hidden field in the very same page then ? Never heard of this being possible apart from using some hand-made javascript.
    Guess I gotta ask my dog what it thinks about all that :-)

  • How can I set a specific value for a field, according to the option selected in a previous drop-down menu?

    Eg.: I have a drop down menu with the following options: "1,2,3,4,5". What I want to do is the followin: If the option selected is "1" the field "Color" must be filled with "Green", if "2" the field color must be filled with "Red", etc

    You can use something like this as the custom calculation script of the color field:
    var v = this.getField("Dropdown1").valueAsString;
    if (v=="1") event.value = "Green";
    else if (v=="2") event.value = "Red";
    // etc.
    else event.value = "";

  • Why can one spot colour convert into two different sets of CMYK values?

    Working within Illustrator CC, I have an EPS file of a logo which has a colour fill value of:
    Pantone 152 U
    CMYK: 0C 51M 100Y 1K
    When I copy and paste this into a new document I get a much duller colour (orange) with colour values of:
    Pantone 152 U
    CMYK: 2C 57M 83Y 2K
    I have enabled 'ask when opening' & 'ask when pasting' for Profile Mismatches in Edit->Color Settings->'Color Management Policies' - no warning shows up.
    I have also tried turning off, changing color management policies.
    I've opened the original eps file and assigned my working space profile (Coated FOGRA39) and then try copy and pasting without success.
    Help!

    In addition to John's useful comments:
    Using Pantone 512U (uncoated) isn't correct for Coated Fogra.
    Why can one spot color convert into two different CMYK sets if converted by the user?
    Assumed, the one spot color is uniquely defined by one Lab set:
    – the CMYK spaces are different
    – the CMYK spaces are the same but the Rendering Intents are different
    – the CMYK spaces are the same but the Black Point Compensations are different
       (on or off for Relative Colorimetric).
    Assumed, the spot colors are equal by name, but valid for different versions, both in Lab:
    – this obviousl at present the most common source of deviations.
    Assumed, the spot colors are defined by CMYK:
    – a chaotic situation which I wouldn't even like to dicuss.
    – CMYK to CMYK conversions should be avoided under all circumstances.
    The solutions:
    If the spot color will be printed always and everywhere by Pantone spot ink:
    – purchase an actual Pantone color fan und discuss with the printer the mixture for the selected ink.
    If the Pantone color is merely a design feature, but the doc will be printed by CMYK:
    – choose such a color and verify by soft proofing that the color is in-gamut for common CMYK spaces.
    – read the Lab values and proceed as far as possible using Lab.
    – don't use ink names, don't use any reference to Pantone.
    – convert into to a specificic CMYK space in advance to the generation of the specific PDF.

  • To get the value in a field based on lov selection of another field.......

    Hi all,

    Hi,
    Assuming you are having two fields on the page. One LOV for empID (ID: empIDV) and messageTextInput for emp Name (ID: empNameV)
    1) Create a VO for your LOV having a query like SELECT emp_num, emp_name FROM employees;
    2) Create region for LOV using table using wizard based on the VO created above (choose emp_num as messageStyledText and emp_name as formValue). Also make search allowed true for emp_num.
    3) Create a LOV map1:
    LOV region item: empId
    Return item: empIDV
    Criteria item: empIDV
    4) Create lovMap2:
    LOV region item: empName
    Return item: empNameV
    Also try to implement dependent LOVs : http://sushantsharmaa.blogspot.in/2012/12/10-dependent-lov-in-oaf.html

  • Using JavaScript to auto populate a field based on numeric value of a separate drop down field

    Hello, I am trying to set up a simple, I hope, javascript which will enable to me auto populate one field based on the numberic value of another field using Acrobat Pro XI.
    Essentially I have 2 drop down fields (we'll call them DD1 and DD2).
    DD1 is the sum of 8 preceding drop down values. That sum can be anywhere from 0 - 40. Whatever that sum falls within a range which identifies a rating. The ratings and ranges are below:
    0-8: Non-Performer
    9-16: Low Performer
    17-24: Performer
    25-32: High Performer
    33-40: Exceptional Performer
    DD2 is where the rating ("non-performer", "low performer", etc.) will be captured. Instead of requiring the user to look at DD1, determine the value, and then identify and input the rating manually, I would like DD2 to auto populate the rating based on the value (sum) in DD1.
    For example, if DD1 shows a value of 27 then DD2 would auto populate "High Performer". So how do I write this code or execute this? In excel I would use an if, then statement. Is there something similar in Acrobat Pro XI.
    Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    If you use a text field, the custom calculation script could be:
    // Custom calculation script for text field
    (function () {
        var s = getField("DD1").valueAsString;
        // Blank this field if input is blank
        if (!s) {
            event.value = "";
            return;
        // Convert string to number
        var v = +s;
        // Set this field's value based on the input
        if (v <= 40 && v >= 33) {
            event.value = "Exceptional Performer";
            return;
        if (v < 33 && v >= 25) {
            event.value = "High Performer";
            return;
        if (v < 25 && v >= 17) {
            event.value = "Performer";
            return;
        if (v < 17 && v >= 9) {
            event.value = "Low Performer";
            return;
        if (v < 9 && v >= 0) {
            event.value = "Non-Performer";
            return;
        // If none of the above fit, blank this field
        event.value = "";

  • Deriving 1 Value from 2 Fields Based on Values in Fields

    I have a query that needs to return 1 of my values based on the values from 2 fields from 2 tables. However, the value should only be returned in 1 field and one of the fields should be evaluated first. If this first evaluated field has a certain value ('Y') then the other field is ignored.
    To be more clear, per the normal query below, what I want is to somehow, if possible, combine the case t2.el_contr and case t1.contr_type statements so that one field, say: mbr_contr_type_desc returns a value.
    So that if the value of t2.el_contr is 'Y' then 'SUB CHILD' is returned. It is important that this field should be evaluated first (If the value of it is 'Y' then the other field evaluation can be ignored). If this is not 'Y', then t1.contr_type should be evaluated and the values as listed below also returned to mbr_contr_type_desc.
    I know the following isn't correct, but it might better illustrate what I'm trying to do (the normal query is below this)
    case t2.el_contr
    when 'Y' then 'SUB CHILD'
    case t1.contr_type
    when 'A' then '1 PARTY MALE SUB'
    when 'B' then '1 PARTY FEMALE SUB'
    when 'C' then '2 PARTY MALE SUB'
    when 'D' then '2 PARTY FEMALE SUB'
    when 'F' then 'FAMILY MALE SUB'
    when 'G' then 'FAMILY FEMALE SUB'
    end as mbr_contr_type_desc
    In an Access query I would do the following in a column:
    iif([el_contr]='Y',"SUB CHILD',SWITCH([contr_type]="A","1 PARTY MALE SUB",[contr_type]="B" etc.))
    *NORMAL QUERY*
    select t1.ssn
    t1.type,
    t1.grp_id,
    t1.contr_type,
    t2.el_contr,
    case t2.el_contr
    when 'Y' then 'SUB CHILD'
    end as mbr_contr_type_desc_2,
    case t1.contr_type
    when 'A' then '1 PARTY MALE SUB'
    when 'B' then '1 PARTY FEMALE SUB'
    when 'C' then '2 PARTY MALE SUB'
    when 'D' then '2 PARTY FEMALE SUB'
    when 'F' then 'FAMILY MALE SUB'
    when 'G' then 'FAMILY FEMALE SUB'
    end as mbr_contr_type_desc_1
    from member_elig t1
    inner join grp_master t2 on
    t1.grp_id = t2.grp_id

    Perfect!
    Thanks, didn't know that existed. Still learning my way around pl/sql..
    One other (unrelated) question..when i hit the CTRL+LEFT ARROW* button in my SQL window, it will not tab back. This is really annoying! I have looked through PREFERENCES-EDITOR and can't seem to find any setting that will allow this. Do you know of any way to change this so I can tab backwards/fowards through code in the SQL window?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

  • Acrobat XI - Populating value of a field based on another field

    pdf built in Acrobat XI
    New to this and I have tried every possible combination I can think of! For simplicty purposes, I have two text fields, Text1 and Text2. I want Text2 to populate based on the value entered into Text1. Have an Action event (Mouse Up) on Text1 as follows:
    var OneT = this.getField("Text1");
    var TwoT = this.getField("Text2");
    TwoT.value=OneT.value;

    [Moved to Acrobat JavaScript forum]
    If you name each field the same, the values will automatically be the same. But if you want to be able to change the value of Text2 after it is autopopulated, you should use a different script and a different event. The following custom Validate script for Text1 will set the value of Text2 when the value of Text1 changes:
    //Custom Validate script for Text1
    getField("Text2").value = event.value;
    If you only want to set the value of Text2 when it is blank, the code could be:
    // Custom Validate script for Text1
    // Get a reference to Text2
    var f = getField("Text2");
    // Only set it value if it is currently blank
    if (!f.valueAsString) {
        f.value = event.value;
    This allows the user to change the value of Text2 without it getting reset when Text1 is changed.
