Return Lowest Value of Two Fields

Hi,
I have two fields that users manually enter into a form. Value1 and Value2.
Does anyone suggestions on the best way to use JavaScript to return the lowest value of the two fields?

Now that I am testing usability a little, I am wondering if I can save people a step and let them leave it blank (not make them enter None). That would be more user friendly I think...
Could the script be changed to return v1 if v2 is blank and v2 if v1 is blank?
I tried this below, but I'm sure the set and otherwise is not quite right...

Can we return a value in two field based on a value select in LOV?

i have a lov attached to a non-bind text field. when i select a value from non bind field lov, a record group of another LOV attached to a database item field generated. both text field are in same block.
LOV record group query of non-bind field is:

mapping is done for same lov field.

assign LOV to database item.(as usual setting the lov reuturn column to it). in the when validate item of database field assign value to no db field(something like if :db column is not null then :nondb_col := :dbcolumn).

Will a sequence return same value for two different sessions?

Is there a possibility that a sequence will return same value to two different sessions when it is referred exactly at the same instance of time?

@Justin... Thanks for your insight; indeed, we too feel this shouldn't ever happen and never heard of it either, but there it is. (No, we haven't logged a TAR yet -- whatever that is -- partly because it didn't occur to us and partly because we only recently came across the issue and sensibly want to do some testing before we cry foul.)
However, the code is pretty straight-forward, much like this (inside a FOR EACH ROW trigger body):
SELECT <seqname>.NEXTVAL INTO <keyvar> FROM DUAL;
INSERT INTO <tblname> (<keyfield>, <... some other fields>)
VALUES(<keyvar>, <... some other values> );
(where <tblname> is NOT the table on which the trigger is fired). This is the only place where the sequence is ever accessed. The sequence state is way below its limits (either MAXVALUE or <keyfield>/<keyvar> datatype size).
In this setup, end users sometimes got an out-of-the-blue SQL error to the effect that uniqueness constraint has been violated -- as I said, we used to have a unique index on <keyfield> -- which leads us to assume that the sequence generated a duplicate key (only way for the constraint to be violated, AFAIK). We released the constraint and indeed, using a simple SELECT <keyfield>, COUNT(*) FROM <tblname> GROUP BY <keyfield> HAVING COUNT(*)>1 got us some results.
Unfortunately, the <tblname> table gets regularly purged by a consumer process so it's hard to trace; now we created a logger trigger, on <tblname> this time, which tracks cases of duplicate <keyfield> inserts... We'll see how it goes.
@Laurent... winks at the CYCLE thing Our sequence is (needless to say) declared as NOCYCLE and the datatype is large enough to hold MAXVALUE.

Get value of two fields into one field

i need little help with javascript again
Currently i'm using code below to get value from one field to other:
getField("Text35").value = getField("Text1").valueAsString;
Now i'm wondering how to change this code, so i could get values from two fields into one. For example i have field "firstname" and field "lastname", now i want to show this in field "name".
Example, if field firstname have value John and field lastname value is Doe, i want to show it in field name like "John Doe".

Separating values for two fields which is have same search help

Hi Folks,
I have one requirement like this. i have 2 fields in MM02 t-code. if i see F4 for those 2 fields it is showing 7 values in that search help. both fields are having same search help so that it is showing same 7 values for these 2 fields. but i want to separate this. if i click on the first fields then it has to show first 3 fields and if i click 2 field it has to show rest 4 fields. can any one suggest what to do for this. these 2 fields are not having search help exit and this one im doing in ECC 6.0.

Your are mention related to MM02 which is standard t-code. I am not sure it is possible for that. It can be restrict through code level only..

How to calculate value based on two fields & set that on the 3rd (in table)

Hi OAF Gururs
I have a requirement in which, in an OAF page, the user can add a row in an advanced table and they enter
the values for two fields say 'rate' and 'entered amt' and immediately on tab out, the 3rd field should be popluated as rate*entered amt.
Is there a way, we could capture the tab out event? Or any way we could achieve this?
This is really urgent.

Hello,
1. Firstly set the fire partial event of 2nd column field.
2. Capture the event in PFR method.
3. After Capturing event, make a row reference object.
4 Now store the value of 1st column field and 2nd column field in variable.
eg. String str= row.getAttribute("Ist Column Name")+"" and String str1= row.getAttribute("2nd Column Name")+""
5.Convert these string value into integer
eg. int x=Integer.parseInt(str); and int y=Integer.parseInt(str1)
6. calculate the value in the integer variable on the basic of these two value
eg. int z = x*y
7 Assign the value to 3rd column after converting it into string
eg. row.setAttribute("3rd Column Name", string variable);
when u tab out from 2nd column, the calculating value will be assign to 3rd column.

F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST - how can I return all values from the line?

I'm using FM F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST to show a pop-up with my internal table values. The internal table has 3 fields, ATINN, ATZHL and a description field ATWTB. ATINN and ATZHL are needed to complete the unique table key, however this FM will only return the value of one field in any line I select.
How can I see all the values in the line I select in the return table?

Use the structure DYNPFLD_MAPPING
With this internal table you can easily define that you want to return
other columns of the hit list in addition to field RETFIELD to the
screen.
In this IT you can MAP the screen fields to the serch help screen fields this has three fields
FLDNAME this is the field anme from the search help
FLDINH This has to be blank which would be field with the field value that you want to map
DYFLDNAME THis is the screen field name.
So here you can get the values for the other fields that you want which are on the search help just populate the name of the fields in FLDNAME.

Can F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST FM return a value in a global variable?

Hi everybody,
I need to use F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST FM because I have to let users select an specific option before choosing another value. The point is that I need to save in a program global variable what the user selects, and decide something with it in the program.
Is it possible that F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST FM returns the value in a sinple variable or it has to be paramter?
I look in a lot of previous threads but I didn't find anything, and I don't know if it's possible.

Sure you can. All you need to do is to store what the function returns in your global variable. It don't need to be returned back to screen field.

Search help to return multiple values

Hi all,
I've created a search help and I'd like it to return several values to different fields, I don't want these fields to be seen on the selection screen.
For example:
1. User clicks on search help for FIELD1 and selects a value from the pop-up box
2. Program populates FIELD1 depending on the user selection
3. Program also populates FIELD2 and FIELD3 which can be used in the program at a later date.
I can do 1 and 2 but I'm having an issue with 3. I've tried selecting all fields in the search help as Export, but although that populates the fields in the search help test facility, it doesn't know which fields I want it to populate in my program.
I've also tried using FM F4IF_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST but can only get this to return one line in table RETURN_TAB.
The screen fields are declared as:
PARAMETERS: FIELD1 LIKE TAB1-FIELD1 MATCHCODE ZSEARCH_HELP,
FIELD2 LIKE TAB1-FIELD2 NO-DISPLAY,
FIELD3 LIKE TAB1-FIELD3 NO-DISPLAY.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for your suggestion but what I failed to put in my original post was that FIELD1 is a description field and FIELD2 and FIELD3 are the actual key fields for the table which I need.
So, I can't do your suggestion of populating them based on FIELD1, I need to know which line the user selects to populate these key fields as FIELD1 may not be unique within the table.
Does that make sense?
That's why I wanted the search help to return all 3 values then I can populate FIELD2 and FIELD3 from that.

How to return multiples values useing functions

I am using functions to return multiple values of two rows or multiple rows.
For example emp id = 100 and i need to return the value for this(empid) input and output of this first_name and salary.
I am tried in this way below but got errors (ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got HR.EMP_TYPE)

Sql is Sql and plsql is plsql. Though we can almost use all the sql objects inside a plsql code but vice versa is not always possible. Since plsql is tightly integrated with sql , if you return a number/date/varchar2 datatype values from plsql code to sql code,there is nothing wrong .Sql acknowledges this return type and knows well about how to handle it .But plsql record is a plsql specific datatype ,oracle was not built keeping in mind the fact that people will be creating difference types of records in plsql .So if you return a plsql datatype into a sql statement (which is processed by a sql engine) ,you need to tell oracle that I have written a plsql code which is going to return a record type so that sql engine can interpret it well.
So all you need to do is create record in sql (known as object in sql ),when you make one, the entry is going to be shown in user_types views. Now use it like any other data type. I assume that the forum link provided in the above post is the best one to understand.

Returning multiple values at once from listOfValues region

I've created a region (listOfValues) which has 4 fields/columns
ResponsibilityName, ResponsibilityId, ApplicationName, ApplicationId
I assigned ResponsibilityName of the listOfValues to a field Responsibility in a page.
It works fine when I select a value from this LOV. It returns a value to 'Responsibility' field of the page.
Is it possible to return other 3 fields as well while selecting ResponsibilityName from LOV. for example while selecting a value for field 'Responsibility' , can the LOV return ResponsibilityId from LOV to field 'ResponsibilityId' in the page, at the same time?
Can 1 selection returns more than 1 values to fields?

I would suggest you have a look of the chapter on LOVs in the dev guide. Just to give you an idea, you map an item in the LOV table to an item on the base page. If you select one value from the LOV table, corresponding values are redirected to the accordingly mapped items on the base page.

Can a single LOV return values to two different fields?

I have a scenario where I already have a LOV in the form which is assigned to a Field A. This LOV returns the value to field A. I have another field B which needs the same list of values. I can assign the same LOV to the field B as well, but can the value selected be returned to B?
I can create another LOV with the same record group, but just wanted to know if its possible to use the same LOV again.

Hi Karuna,
You can achieve this by providing a third column in LOV (whose column width can be set to 0 to prevent it from being visible in lov) which can be comma-separated of two fields. This third field can then be assigned to the form field. And a substr() function call can get you both values.

How to return multiple values in a single field in oracle 10g reports

I have written a formula column using cursor for loop which returns 3 values. But whenever i am assigning the formula column as the source of a field which is inside a repeating frame the field in only showing the first value returned from the formula column. The rest two values are not shown. Please help what to do.

If I understand your issue, you should set the vertical elasticity of the repeating frame to 'Variable' or 'Expand'. It is likely set to 'Fixed'.
