Can we split Inventory costs during FI postings.

Thank you in advance for your time.
Business is asking to split Fixed cost and variable costs (inventory costs) and post to different General ledger accounts when PGI is done.  Is this possible to do?

Review if there is any userexit that can be used or a BTE (transaction FIBF).
Further, I would develop a Z transaction (ABAP) that would take the costs and the adjust the original FI entry and put into the final FI GL accounts.
Lastly, I have had a similar requirement for two previous US clients and this was because Oracle Hyperion was used as the enterprise financial reporting system.

  • Split Standard Cost during Goods Issue

    Dear Experts,
I have a problem and would like to take your help.
In SD, when we do a good issue to customer i.e. during posting of delivery document, the system credits the inventory and debits the SCOGS. In most of the clients I have worked, the SCOGS always is posted to a singe GL account.
Is it possible to do a SCOGS posting to various GL accounts by splitting the SCOGS into its various components like - Material, Labor, External costs, etc?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Vishal.

    Hi,
OBYC has automatic account assignment (GBB/VAX/VAY) for COGS PGI posting. I don't see a way, you can achieve this in standard SAP. Moreover, how did you plan to determine cost components splits (Mat, Lab etc.,)? from CO-PC?
Is this conceived as a work around to activating CO-PA? Otherwise, I can suggest you to consider activating CO-PA, which does exactly what you expect (margin reporting), provided you have CO-PC active.
If CO-PA is ruled out, then some kind of enhancement should be thought of. Posting cost component break-up to FI-GL may not be a legal requirement and I see this as more of a internal management reporting. So, instead of focussing on posting to GL, focus on creating a report which shows this break up.
    Hope this helps.

  • Product costing during sales order entry

    Dear Experts,
Pricing Condition EK02 can calculate the actual cost during sales order entry. If the product costing will be activated for each and every order line item for calculating the actual cost EK02 automatically, does this have any down falls to the system performance or anything apart from this ?
Looking for the expert opinion in this regard.
    Thanks
    Anil

    Hi Allan,
Ideally if the number of line items would be less than 10 during order entry. Do you think is there any impact because of the costing run for each and every line item ?
    Looking for your response.
    Thanks,

  • How can I make a Splitting in Cost center accounting by Cost elements?

    Hi experts:
I have defined a splitting structure and I would like to split the cost bettew fixed and variables cost.
To to that I have defined two different assignments and in the selection for each assignment  I have completed the "Field label" with:
In the first assigment I would like to have only the "fixed cost" and I did the next:
    1. Cost element (I have entered a Group) the cost which is in this cost element group is 4.000.0000 euros
2.- Activity type (I have entered a Individual value)
In the second assignment I did the same but with a different Cost element group (the original amount was 6.000.000 euros
The problem is that when I have executed the transaction to do the split, the system split the 50% of the total cost (10.000.000 euros)  to each assignment.
How can I make if I want that the system split the cost based only in the "cost element group" which are defined one of them for the "Fixed cost" and the another one for "Variable cost"??
Are there any method which can split a total Cost for a Cost center based only in the cost amount for a cost element group??
    Thanks a regards!!

Your site's customers will think of it, and they will regard such errors as the mark of a sloppy vendor, not a sloppy webmaster.  And I'm not sure what being from the US has to do with anything.
I want to position the container in the center while having absolute positioning, is that possible?
I have doubts, I've seen a lot of people saying that u can't center a container with aboslute position.
Then you should remove those people from your circle of trust.  Of course it's possible.
Make the container relatively positioned, and centering with an explicit width and auto left/right margins.  The inner absolutely positioned elements will center along with their positioned ancestor.

  • Change of cost during PGI

    Hi all,
    Geetings!
I have a scenerio. Suppose the cost of material during order creation was 100 Rs. in VPRS.
We created delivery after 15 days & during that time the standard price in material master has been changed to 120 Rs.
How system will take new cost during PGI to be posted in inventory accounting & same should reflect in billing document.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Dear Friend,
Please tell me the what pricing you have taken S or V
    Standard Or Moving Average.
If your price is a Standard Price  S you cannot change the same after you have created the order.
The price is determined from the standard price
So there is no procedure to change the standard price if you have used S.
In case you are using the V moving average price.
Then price is determined from the moving price feild
Which you cannot change at that time you can change the standard price.
However if in the MM side at the time of GRN if the price changes the moving average price takes care of the pricing component for the moving average price V.

  • Can I split an "iTunes LP" into individual tracks?

    Hi there,
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I've been looking for over an hour and can't find anything that helps.
I recently purchased the song "Where Are We Now" by David Bowie in order to register my pre-order for the album "The Next Day" which came out a couple of weeks ago.  I didn't realise it was an iTunes LP and now I am stuck with two problems.
    1) I can't insert the original track I purchased into the main album so I have two entries on my iTunes library, one containing one song and one containing the rest of the album
    2) I can't split the iTunes album into separate tracks and it's driving me nuts.
If I have to play the album as a whole and not be able to cherry-pick tracks from it then okay, I guess I can live with that. But with track five as a stand-alone it means I have to listen to the rest of the album and then go back and listen to track five separately?  This can't be right.
I've not come across iTunes albums before and they SUCK if this is what I have to put up with, and I'm certainly not buying the album again via individual songs because that'll cost me over £20.
I hope someone can help, because I'm extremely annoyed. I can't even burn the thing onto a CD and then re-import it because I can't insert track five into the album where it should be.
    Thanks,
    Bee.

Okay, panic over, there was one step I didn't complete and now I've done it, it's worked fine.
I shouldn't be allowed nice things.
    As you were.

  • Can't delete the cost estimate via CKR1

    Hi,
We have one material. We can't delete the cost estimate via CKR1. It is only warning. It is no error log. The other material cost estimate can delete normally. I check the material master I can't find the issue. The following is the warning message. Could you pls help check it? Whate factor will effect the cost estimate deletion? Thanks.
    ==========================
Deleting current standard cost estimates can cause inconsistencies
    Message no. CK 669
    Diagnosis
u2022 If you delete a current standard cost estimate, the fields for
the cost estimate are set to zero in the material master record. If you
use the material ledger, the standard prices in the material ledger
master data are also deleted when you delete the current standard cost
estimate. The material master record for the material thus does no
longer contains a current standard price from a standard cost estimate.
u2022 If you delete an active standard cost estimate, you can no
longer determine scrap, work in process and variations for previous
    periods.
u2022 In certain countires, it is a legal requirement to maintain
records of standard pricing. Therefore, you should check whether you
are obliged by law to keep records of your standard cost estimates.
Please also contact the relevant accounting and inventory management
    departments.

    Hi,
The deletion of Current standard cost estimate should be followed with some rules of the IFRS.
If you want to change the standard cost you can do the change,If you want to delete the standard cost of material then it will set the price of material to zero.If the material ledger also activate then it will make the Moving average price & standard cost of the material to zero.
So follow the Law of the country & Discus with Audit team &then delete the curent standard cost estimate of the material.

  • What are options for applying non-inventory costs to production orders?

We have a non-inventory costs that need to be assigned to product produced on production orders.  There are two processes -make-to-order and make-to-stock.
Currently we use activity rates to apply labor and burden costs to our production.  We use separate cost centers where needed to ensure that we have sufficient granularity to our activity rates applied.
We have a few specific issues where we need to understand the options for applying costs -
    1) We have freight and duty costs related to inbound raw material that we want to assign to our final product.  The amount assigned may be either a specific amount (or a specific amount per model), or a % of the total cost on that production order.
    2) We have material on the production order bill of material that is called out by quantity and we are using discrete backflush, however we have found there are issues with the accuracy of the quantities.  We want to have this product ordered using KANBAN (bin ordering) and have the value relieved from inventory when the bin is issued to production.  The cost on the production order is envisioned to be an average amount for the product - or an average amount by model.
    3) We want to have a portion of cost for production scrap included in the cost of each product produced. (similar to freight and duty).
In all cases- the amount can change depending on analysis from accounting regarding freight and duty costs (these fluctuate depending on the cost savings we achieve with combined loads and depending on the amount of out of country sourcing), the scrap amount may change periodically depending on the initiatives to reduce scrap on the production floor, etc.
We currently use three activity types, labor, burden and tooling.  It is my understanding that there is a limitation in SAP that keeps us limited to 6 activity types.
    My questions are:
Are we limited on activity types? these are an option to apply additional costs, but may not be the best option if we want to change the amount applied based on model or apply as a percentage.
Are there other options for applying costs that we can explore? I want to be sure we take into account the various options available before we start down a specific path.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

As clarification- we are using standard costing for our raw material.  We currently accumulate the incoming freight in a balance sheet account.  This is treated as part of our inventory.  We have considered using an activity type with a activity added to the BOM to apply the cost to the production order.  Then we could use the secondarly cost element data to book an entry to relieve the freight account on the balance sheet.
Because we use standard costing- access to see production order variance is critical and must be maintained in any process we select. We also use COPA reporting- so the costing information must be able to flow to COPA for the specific orders/products/serial numbers.
We are doing make to order (production order / sales order specific combination) but also looking at a make to stock process - so the method to apply costs must take both of these configurations into consideration.
Rajneesh - you mentioned that I am limited to 6 activities in a work center- but does that mean I can have more than 6 activity types in SAP but only 6 activities in a work center/cost center combination?
    Thank you.

  • How can we split the image when its added dynamically ?

    Hi Experts,
I have an image where i'm calling a DAL in Entry tab Data section under section level properties. As you know that will execute during Entry process. In that DAL i'm Adding an image based on the user choice during entry.
When image added that should be accomedate the spaces availale in the form.First half of the section can accomedate in the first page and secound half will go to next page.
I have used CANSPLITIMAGE rule, but that is not get executed during entry process.
Can someone help me How to split the image during entry process when its added dynamically ?
    Thanks,
    RAMAN C.

Aside from what you might think of as the origin placement, Gendata rules are not run during Entry operations. As such, you are not able to do what you describe in versions before 12.2. Starting in 12.2, you still can't execute Gendata rules, however there is a newly supported feature when DAL adds a section that will look for the existence of the CanSplitImage rule and assigns an internal attribute that will allow the section to split during entry. This isn't the same as running the rule, but the net effect should be acceptable. (At some point in the future, perhaps this internal attribute will become something you can just set when adding the section on the form and you won't have to specify the CanSplitImage rule at all - for Batch or Entry. That would be great.) In the meantime, if you are not using 12.2, your only option is to break your section up into smaller section components and add them separately. That should help minimize unused space on the page when something doesn't fit.

  • Inventory Costing Vs Material Costing

Can someone explain the difference between inventory costing and material costing ?
Edited by: VamsiM on May 3, 2010 2:14 AM

    Hey,
An inventory cost estimate is used to update tax and commercial price, or prices other than
standard. In other words, the costing type is not for the standard price.

  • Splitting of Cost into Fixed & Variable

    Hi,
In our current scenario there is only one cost and there is no split between them. Now my customer wants the cost to be split between fixed & variable. At present we are using KP26 to plan the cost. Here my cost will hit only one cost element (say A) at present. Requirement is to split this cost into fixed and variable and send to two separate cost elements (say B & C) for the same activity type and afterwards do the setllement accordinlgy.
Can any one please guide me on how to achieve this.
    Thanks & Regards
    Sreekanth

    Hi,
1.This can be achieved by creating two Activity types .eg AT1 for fixed, AT2 for the Variable.
    2. Do not assign the default Activity type in the Work center (Costing Tab)
    3. When you want to create the activity to capture the cost at fixed and variable level, create a single activity and assign two different activity elements e.g AT1 and AT1.
Now for these two activitiy elements assign the resepctive work center and the activity type as per the need.
    4. This will capture the cost as requested by you.
Hope it works for you, Please reward points if found useful.
    Thanks!

  • Suggestions for Inventory Costs Tables - Retail

    Hello All,
I am trying to calculate the Econoimic order quantity. I am looking for SAP tables that contains Ordering costs, logistic costs and storage costs.
    I did find the tables:
    MARC - Item data
    MARA -  General material data
    VFKP - Logistics
    VFKK - Logistics
Are these the right tables? If not, are there any tables specifically for retail inventory costs?
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Dear Silvia,
Would you please tell us how you can adapt this requirement?

  • Product cost during order entry

    Hi,
Is it possible to enter the product cost during production order order entry, if yes possible please guide me.
    sateesh

Production Order is more a logistics function. Whenever there is a requirement for a product to be produced an order is created to facilitate capturing the actual materials and labor issued to the order. Order creation could happen throughout the year.
The standards are generally set at the begining of the year, in some cases even monthly during the budgeting process. This sets up the standard cost which will serve as a standard for production orders wherein the variances are calculated against this standard and monitored.
Standard costs can be set only once for a period. Hence, standard costs are not set during production order entry.

  • Actual cost splitting - secondary cost element

    Hi All,
My knowledge on actual cost splitting for cost centers are limited.
Basically i am trying to use actual activity price calculation. In my splitting structure i have two different cost element group for two activities and i am using splitting rule 30 i.e., activity quantity. The system does the splitting perfectly based on the cost elements groups specified in splitting structure, but i am facing a strange problem. i have also allocated costs from different cost center to the prod cost center used for price calculation through assessment. But i havent used the secondary cost element in none of the cost element group for activities, but still the system is taking the cost of the allocated costs in secordary cost elements and allocates to both the activities in 50:50, which i am able to see in splitting showing as "division of activity-independed actual costs".
Can anybody please let me know, is this the way it works or something has gone wrong.
    Thanks
    With Best Regards,
    GJ

".....the actual costs are distributed on the activity types according to splitting rules. If you have not defined any splitting rules for a cost center, the R/3 System splits actual costs based on the <b>equivalence numbers</b> for the activity types. "
Your case could construed to be a missing splitting rule, because the cost element group is missing the secondary cost element within the splitting structure. As a result, the system may use the equivalence number of the activity types and distribute.
Check the <b>equivalence number</b> of your two activities, it  may be 1 and 1 for both activities; hence those costs getting divided equally.  I suspect nothing has gone wrong.
