You are getting this message because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC by signing with your Apple ID. You can only sign into an existing iCloud account on a PC. You first have to create your iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher. After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using this ID on your PC.

Yeah, that's just iTunes Store credit. Sadly, iCloud and iTunes Store are technically separate, so you wouldn't be able to use that. It'd have to be a credit card that you put on iCloud. Now, if you ever decide you want to try out iTunes Match (which is another subscription service) you -can- use that store credit for that. However, you're still required to have a credit card on your account so that when the renewal comes up - you can have seamless service. Hope that helps better explain why this is the case. And at least that store credit can still be used on the iTunes Store, since usually Mac App Store gift cards are the same as iTunes Store gift cards. Just check your store credit in the iTunes Store to be sure.

Yes, he can create an account and make purchases with gift card.
When he gets the gift card, have him open the iTunes store and click on Redeem at the top right under *Quick links*.
Input the card number then select *Create new account*.
Input the personal info and when it gets to credit card info, select None.

Can't get iCloud account to show up in Notes app

Greeting, all.
Not sure whether this is an iCloud issue, but here's the deal:
On my Air, I can't get my iCould account to show up in Notes (the account IS showing up in Notes on my iMac and iPhone, just not on the Air). The iCloud account is enabled on the Air, and in all other ways is functioning and syncing fine. Likewise, Gmail is showing up in Notes and synching on all three devices. The problem appears limited to the just the iCloud account, just on the Air, and just in Notes.
One other strange thing: on the Air, my old MobileMe account is showing up in Notes (but not on my other two devices). I see no way to remove this account from Notes, and the account is not even showing up in the Accounts preference pane.
Any idea why this happening and what I can do to fix it?

Sorry, I was assuming you were talking about an iPad Air. If you mean your MacBook Air, go to System Preferences>iCloud and uncheck both Notes and Mail, then restart it and go back and check them again.

You mean "Personal Hotspot" ?
If you do not have the setting menu then the Hotspot is probably not supported by your Telephone company or by your Data Plan.
Or your phone does not connect to WiFi ?

i have had e mails back over the last question i asked over my wifi problem.
the e mails i recieved had nothing to do with resolving this matter i am banging my head against a brick wall .

Situation:
We want to standardize on JRE 1.4.1 but some of our clients web applications use JRE 1.3.1 and they won't run with the newer VM. So I need to launch Netscape with default plugin as 1.3.1 for some apps and default plugin as 1.4.1 for others.
Ideally, I would like to run a client logon script that makes a registry change to set the default JRE plugin to either 1.3.1 or 1.4.1 BEFORE Netscape launches and goes to our client URL.
Does anyone know which reg keys does this? Is there a better way?

I don't have a credit card on file because I don't want my kids using it or accidentally using it. I always buy itunes cards for this reason. I refuse to put a credit card on file for this reason. I hope Apple thinks about this and puts this in consideration. I don't understand why I can't put a itunes card on file just like a credit card?

How can you get two master pages in Indesign to repeat when one of them has a numbering section and the back side is a common back. For example, Master A has numbering 001-500 and Master B is the common back for all 500 pages.

My guess is you either want to use a numbered list for the numbering, rather than a page number marker, or you want to make two files and print a single page file with the static text 500 times, then flip the stack and print the 500 page file.

You can set up your iCloud account on your iOS device under: "Settings > iCloud" and a other account for store purchases under "Settings > iTunes & App Stores". Unfortunately merging accounts is not possible but you could transfer all of your music manually via iTunes from your Mac or PC.

I need help! I no longer have access to the email that I opened my icloud account with many years ago and I can't remember my password anyway! However it continues to backup all my stuff. But I have no access to go in and delete items or manage my account. The pop-ups now tell me that my account is full and it will no longer be able to backup items. I would like to go in and delete items that I do not need to make room, but I can't! I don't know what you mean by "closed" - icloud accounts stay in existence even if you disconnect all devices from the account. You can't delete them.
If you don't recall the ID or the password, and if the link above doesn't provide another way to get to the account, then you are out of luck.

I had this exact same problem with the new iPhone I bought on 1/4/13. The walk through they provide on how to do this is useless because it fails to explain that if you are already having the problem of not getting the "None" payment option with an Apple ID then you will need to create a completely new Apple ID.
I had to do this 7 times since I bought my iPhone on Friday until this morning to figure out how to finally be able to use the Home Sharing option in iTunes to put my music collection on my brand new $500.00 iPhone. Pretty pathetic if you ask me but since it made me so angry I want to make sure other know how to do this so you don't get as upset as I did.
#1 If your current or soon to be "old" Apple ID is not providing the option for "None" as a payment option then you need to make a brand new one. But you have to make it specifically how I tell you.
#2 You will need to use an email address that has not already been used for anything related to a previous Apple ID. You might need to make a brand new email address.
#3 Open iTunes, then open iTunes Store (upper right corner of iTunes).
#4 Click on App Store (upper center of screen).
#5 Scroll down the screen page until you see Top Free Apps on the right side.
#6 Choose any one of the FREE apps.
#7 You should either get the option to create a new Apple ID box, either that, or it will pop up with some kind of disclaimer and then it does the create new Apple ID.
Either way just create a new Apple ID when it gives you the option to and then when you get to the page that looks like the payment page the "None" payment option will finally be available.
Note: You will still have to fill out the information on the payment page. As long as you choose the "None" option it will not request any credit card information.
#8 You will be sent a confirmation email to the new email account. Just follow through with what ever it tells you and viola now you can use your Apple Device.
What a pain in the keester, eh?
