Can you install the update for Linksys EasyLink Advisor over the current version?
I was notified of a new update for Lela, Lela-3-11.9139.94. I saved the download to a file.
My question is as follows: Before installing the new version, do I need to uninstall the current version 3.0?
I just got the router running properly and do not want to mess anything up.

I had v 2.0 working fine... I downloade the v3.0 "lela-3.11.9139.94.exe" and when the install is at the "installing JRE it hangs.. and never ends. I am using XP professional with latest fixes.. I tried to clear the reistry, Tried install 5 times, Allway tops at JRE.. Also installed latest SUN JRE.. I have no idea what i wrong.. Must be a bug in the install..
Any suggestion?

yes you need the updates and patches.
Only some of the drivers that Windows will automatically install at times
and always make sure to insure it is using restore points

Windows has a software updater built into Windows and when you install the Boot Camp drivers then it will install an Apple software updater also. I believe Windows is set to automatically download and install your updates as does the Apple software Updater. They both will update the individual files it needs to periodically.
"Microsoft updates" and "Windows updates" are basically the same thing in Windows. Are you talking about the "Windows support software" when downloading from Boot Camp Assistant? Apple installs a software updater for it's Boot Camp drivers in Windows 7 so you can do it manually or automatically.
The "Hot Fix" your referring to is only for certain motherboards built from other Windows only computer manufacturers and does NOT pertain to any Apple computers.

For the record, since the iPad 2 supports iOS 8 any attempt to update the iPad 2 will result in an update to 8.1. Apple only supports updating to the latest version of the operating system that the device supports.

Hey I finally got an older vesion of itunes to work!!! 10.7 x64 for windows 7
After uninstalling all apple products even quicktime
I had to delete everything from (program files, and program files x64, program data,)
And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted other stuff from apple, and itunes
But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start when done)
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version anyways.
Easier to download and transfer music!!!!! -

Temporarily disable/turn off your anti-virus and firewall software and try the download again.

OSX 10.8.5 Can't install any updates for any of my 3rd party software

Don't know if any of you out there can help me but for some reason I am unable to install any unpdates for ANY of my third party software on my System Drive or any other drive for that matter. I continually get the little yellow triangle on the drive icon at the "destination select" stage of any update installation. Ive never had this problem before and it's only been happending over the last week and i haven't changed any OSX settings. Also im logged in as the Administrator and have the permissions set to read & write to all my drives.
Has anyone experienced this too?????If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. -

By default, Software Update will automatically check for updates on a regular basis.
You can adjust what those settings are. To do that, choose System Preferences in the Apple menu; in the new window, click the icon for Software Update. The window will change to reflect the current settings for Software Update -
You can change those settings if you wish.
Note the selection button for "Installed Software" near the top of that window - if you click that, it will display a list of all software updates that have been installed. -
I can't install any updates for Leopard.

I've just upgraded my G4 1.25Ghz, (2GB RAM) to Leopard 10.5 from the DVD from 10.4.1. It installed ok although it hung at the end of installation on the System Preferences. I had to shut it down and start it up again. It started no problem so I assumed all was ok. I then tried to update. I used Software Updater and it recommended that I download and install 10.5.8. I tried this but it kept hanging when I hit the install button on the updater. In force quit it kept saying the updater was not responding. Upon reading quite a few articles on the subject, i tried to download it directly, I did but it still wouldn't work. I read that maybe I needed earlier updates first do I tried 10.5.6 combo with no luck and then I tried 10.5.1 but it still doesn't work either. I lets me start to install the update but it hangs every time I hit install and says the program is not responding.
Have I not upgraded to Loepard sucessfully, ie do need to uninstall it and re-install it (how) or is something in the install manager that isn't working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.I booted from the dvd and it went straight ahead and installed the whole thing again, and as far as i see it overwrote the previous version as I still have the same amount of memory available. The only thing was that it hung on the finder after the restart. I force quit and it worked fine. I went to upgrade and as I had downloaded early versions of 10.5 upgrades I started with 10.5.1 - it loaded fine. I shut down the mac and after a while I started it again and tried to upgrade to 10.5.6 combo that I had previously downloaded. The installer worked fine until it asked me for the administrators user name and password. I typed them in but it keeps saying that they are invalid. They are the correct ones. Also previously when it asked, it only asked for the administrator password and it automatically filled in my account name. I have been looking at other posts with similar problems but nothing solved. I tried software update and it immediately asked for the user name and password as usual and I cannot get any further with it. Should I continue this in a new post or can someone help.

You need to update your os to 10.6.8, repair permissions after the installation and restart your computer when done. Then you should be able to install all the other updates from Software Update. If you have a lot which I imagine you do, install 2 at a time. After all the installations are done repair permissions and restart your computer. -

the call center but I finally worked with a 3rd tech for over 2 hrs. but had to terminate the call for a conference call I had with a client. The person I worked with said he would call me back between 7-8pmEST so he could continue helping me but I never
got a return call.
I have already invested over 10 hrs in the last few days regarding this issue and fear that if I call back in I will once again start over completely with no success which is why I am reaching out here. Is there anyone that has the knowledge of how to fix
the problem?I've been having the same problem and today did some searching and found something that worked. Check that the download hasn't already been installed - look in the Installed Updates listing for an entry. If it exists there, uninstall it, and
then force a Check For Updates and retry the install. This worked for me and I hope it helps.
