Can you replace data with nothing?

I have a column filled with data, i.e. "01 "miscellanae, and I'd like to replace the "01 " with "" (nothing). I don't want to leave an empty space, so any "01 "s inthe columng would be replaced by "" (nothing).

Where does one enter the formula?
To get the hang of it, start with a simple table like this. Put a few lines of your data in column A. Then click in the cell in row 2 of column B and type =. The formula editor should activate. Then type in the formula editor to make the equation look exactly like this (note the space after the 1) and then click the green check mark:
Once you have the formula working in cell B2, click once in B2, command-c, select the cells below it in the same column, command-v to paste. That should convert the other values in column A as you want, removing the 01, and showing the result in column B.
Then, when you've got the values you want in column B and don't want the formula any more, you can select column B, command-c to copy, then Edit>Paste Formula Results.

I know that this is not Apple's plan, and I know that there's no easy way to do it.
However, is it possible to replace iCloud with a local cloud? I'd like to use my Apple Time Capsule or my WD My Passport wireless drive to store my iTunes, iPhoto and e-mail libraries, as well as to be the cloud that has my keyword chain, and other app syncing, like contacts & notes, for my Macs and IOS devices.
There are a number of reasons:
- I have several TB of storage
- It is much more secure as I can encrypt everything and have control of the physical storage devices
- It is more portable - I can take the cloud onto an aeroplane, or into the desert and it'll still work, unlike iCloud that needs a wi-fi connection
I can see other people would have the same requirement. If you have a business with sensitive data, for example, you'd not want it stored remotely, you'd want full control of all the encryptions, backup, access control and so forth.
Any ideas? It'd be great if one could simply change DNS so that icloud.com points to your own device, but I know it's nothing like as simple as that!

I think you would have to do a lot of work in addition to just replacing the motherboard. Like getting a new power supply for instance as the cables won't match what Apple specs for their designed and built hardware. I think the best you can hope for is to reuse the Aluminum tower case, and that's about it.

The real point is Kappy gave you a link to a list of video demonstrations of changing the digitizer to show you that what you intend to do can in fact be done. However, not once but TWICE you questiofed what was freely given to you, and you obviously didn't take the time or make any effort to find out if white framed digitizers are available.
The fact of the matter is, white framed digitizers are available, and rather inexpensively I might add.

The client does not want to have two provisioning systems CUP & CUA. The sole purpose they are using CUA is the proper accounting for SAP licenses such that the user ID remains the same across the landscape. No other purpose of using CUA. In this case can I replace CUA with CUP 5.3 SP12.

There are limitations to doing that.
CUA has a technology focus and does not take access risk into consideration at all. The long-term successor of this would be Netweaver Identity Management. If you want to consistently manage user master data and license information, that's probably the solution to look at.
You can perfectly use CUP on top of that to manage authorizations. You can also force CUP to only allow user IDs from a central system like CUA or ActiveDirectory in order to enforce user ID consistency.
What CUP will not do is give you an overview of where a user is maintained with which kind of information/license data. That is something that either CUA (for ABAP only) or Netweaver Identity Management will give you.

I knew I should never get rid of my old G5's. By the way, there is a browser still supported for the PPC, TenFourFox, if you're not using it already. Go to the Floodgap website (they author it) download it for free. The only thing it doesn't support is the Flash plugin, but the browser works great. Other video types are supported. It's based on Firefox, and runs most of the plugins and add-ons. It's very fast, and beats all other browsers on the browser compatibility and speed test. That's now my default on my G5's. Firefox and Safari are no longer supported. As far as the OS, both Tiger and Leopard were solid for me. The reason, as I stated before, was iMovie. The version in Tiger with iLife was far superior to what Apple changed it to. They 'dumbed it down' for the masses. Even the newest iLife 11 on my Mac Pro quad isn't is good, in my opinion. So Leopard should be fine for you. It's a much larger browser in terms of sheer megabytes and disk space, but it's fine. As far as getting an OS disc, I'm seeing Tiger for about $45.00, Leopard for $50 - 60.00 on that famous auction site. As far as RAM, I have 8GB in my G5 2.3, but you should check Activity Monitor when you are running your apps. See how much green slice you have left (unused RAM). You might find you don't need eight. A Mac Pro will grab more free RAM than a PPC machine will. I have a hard time maxing out use of my 8 on the PPC. Not true with the eight on my Mac Pro. The OS doesn't hesitate to grab and use it. You might be OK with 6GB on your PPC. More will not make you faster, as long as you still have free RAM available. As far as backup on your resurrected machine: look for a firewire enabled backup if can. Use CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) and make a clone backup. Next time your PPC machine wipes out the hard drive, just take your Firewire drive and plug it into another PPC machine, and you can select it as your boot drive. You'll be back and running in five minutes. You can also take the physical drive out of your enclosure, and put it in your tower to replace the failed drive, and you'll be back to where you were in less than ten minutes, OS and all. The PowerMac has an 800 port, so you can do the 800 on the machine to an 800 port on your backup. A firewire 800 to 800 cable is only about $8.00. It runs nice and fast through the 800 port. I like the OWC Mercury Extreme enclosures. They use USB, Firewire 800, and eSATA, so all your options are open.

I have couple of questions around this.
1. Can we remove the default embedded authenticator totally? If yes what are the things we should keep in mind?
2. We don't want hard coded users like "OracleSystemUser". Can we replace OracleSystemUser with our custom user, maybe assinging our user to OracleSystemGroup in our ldap.
Would appreciate any help.

Can you replace existing images in Captivate 7 the way you can when using InDesign? I need to replace some images but wondering if I'll need to reformat, resize, rename for the Advanced Action, etc.

The work flow is a bit more complicated than in InDesign (keeps only a link to the image as you know in the frame). I understand the problem with the advanced/shared action references. This is my work flow, maybe someone else has an easier, shorter one:
Right-click on the image and use 'Find in Library' or use CTRL-ALT-F if it works on your keyboard (doesn't on my AZERTY one)
In the Library use the right-click menu to open the Properties or double-click the name of the image
In that dialog box, choose 'Import' and choose your new image; for some reason you cannot choose from the Library however, which I find really sad because I'm used to import all assets to the Library.
Drawback: if the new image has not the same width/height ratio, it will adapt to the original size of the image, you can use Edit image to repair. You'll keep the name of the image, you don't have to change advanced/shared actions.

Question about minimizing. why ddid apple remove minimizing and replace it with NOTHING?

on tiger, i could double click in the "gray bar" on top of every window in order to minimize it. this was a very good idea, since the buttons to minimize, close or maximize are very small and i also tend to activate my upper left hot corner when moving my cursor to the buttons....
i think it's good to always change stuff. but if apple removes a function to replace it with nothing at all, i just don't get the point of removing it, since it was a good idea. i know: less is more! but i don't think it's meant this way

They didn't remove it. You just don't know where to turn it on. The "gray bar" is called the title bar.

I'm confused. You suggest that all that is needed is to go to Cancel Your Membership or Subscription Creative Cloud. It doesn't work that simply.
I have attempted to cancel many times and I am sent to Customer Service where it is impossible to contact anyone for assistance.
I have wanted to change the date that my payment was made. I called in mid February and it was explained that all I needed to do was cancel my account then subscribe once again on the date I want my payment withdrawn. The gentleman I spoke with told me on account of my cancel-resubscribe" I would not be charged the penalty for canceling before the end of my one year contract.
When I have attempted to speak with someone once again today I have found it impossible to find a number I can call.
I understand that I need to be on the Adobe CC to take care of this, but I have been there all morning with no success.
I DID note that it appears I have an account with the payment date I am trying to change. If I were to open an account today, todays date would be my payment date. I don't know what else to do and can not figure out how I was able to contact someone last month.
