Can you rotate the display/desktop in snow leopard?

I was wondering if it is possible to rotate the display in snow leopard. I looked in display setting but I didn't see the option there, if I there is one. I looked in a couple other places but I didn't see it. Is there something that can possible be downloaded to get this option or, maybe not. Seems like a pretty basic feature I would thing it would be there but then again I've overlooked some pretty simple things in the past, so it might right in front of my face. In case my intent isn't clear what I want to be able to do is physically rotate my rectangle wide screen monitor to a horizontal position so it's width is smaller then it hight, and so I need to also rotate the desktop image to correspond with the position of the monitor. Can anyone help, Thanks.

Up until a few months ago, I was a PC user. Three years or so ago I bought an ipod 80gb, then a Zune 80gb a year later to watch movies on, because I drove a lot, so I would watch TV on the ipod and movies on the Zune. But the Zune was a totally glitchy annoying piece of poo. I ended up selling it on Ebay. I bought an ipod 160gb classic through apple.com and both ipods have worked flawlessly sense I bought them. Then I began to ponder about my PC, and just how glitchy it always was and how complicated everything had to be to get things to work. I had used Mac in the past while at work or different places and always liked what I saw. So last year, I think October, I bought a Mac mini to start off with then If I liked it I was going to upgrade in a year or so to something more beefy. The moral of my story is that, I come to learn that after spending all those years dealing with a PCs and everything being so complicated I sometimes assume that when I need to do something on the Mac, I still think it's going to be a hassle so I over look very simple things which turn out to be the solution. I've done that a few times now.
I can honestly say that I have never really been disappointed with any thing that the mac does and I am always surprised with what it can do and how easy to use it is. I'm waiting for the day when the Mac OS over takes MS as the primary consumer OS so that compatible hardware and software is more readily available at stores. Whether that days comes or not I don't know, but I hope it does.

How can you modify the displayed columns on a Related Information List? For example, how could you add the "Type" column to the List of columns displayed for Service Requests when you are viewing the Contacts Detail page?
    Thanks

I'd have to say I think this is one of the biggest flaws in the OnDemand system currently. The solution I have come up with is to create reports and put them in webapplets showing the data I want to show. I have then removed the standard Related Info List Objects and added weblinks to create new records as the button on the List object is also gone.
Keep in mind that doing this does slow things down a little, so it may not work if you have a big user base.

If, however, you want to change the size of the display of the menubar, meaning make the icons and text larger, there is no way to do that directly other than to change the resolution of the screen.
You can change the as-viewed size of that temporarily by using either -

  • Can you figure out this setup? Snow Leopard and Windows 7...

    Here's my potential rig:
    - Running a Mac Pro.
    - 2 Hard Drives:
    1) Snow Leopard on first drive
    2) Windows 7 on second drive
    - 2 24" Apple LED Cinema Displays
So here's my question...is there a way I can have both OS's running at the same time, with Snow Leopard on the left monitor and Windows 7 on the right monitor, all running out from one computer rig (Mac Pro)?
I've heard of ppl using Synergy to run dual monitors with dual computers and sharing one keyboard and mouse. I want to do the same EXCEPT run it all out of 1 computer.
    Any advice, suggestions, critiques?
    Thanks!

You'll have to rely on virtualization there. Check out parallels or VMWare Fusion. I think both companies provide evalauation versions. There's also Sun's free VirtualBox that you might want to give a try. A virtual windows installation won't perform as well as a boot camp installation in all situations

  • Can I change the administrator password on Snow Leopard using Tiger discs

Hi, I had a fault with my mac and the o/s had to be reinstalled. The shop put Snow Leopard on my mac and I changed the password which I later forgot. My mac instructed me to input the install discs etc but I only have my original Tiger Install discs. I rang the shop but they say they are not allowed to change the password but that I can do it with my old discs.
I tried to reset it but it wouldn't work and on only the first occasion when I restarted with the disc and by pressing C on reboot etc did it launch into the 'select language' etc. Now every time I try, it just starts normally.
Is there any way I can change the administrator password on Snow Leopard using my Tiger discs? thanks

Why didn't the "shop" give you the Snow Leopard system discs? You need those to troubleshoot. Especially if you need to use Apple's Hardware Test. Strange.

  • Can you Netboot Client 10.6.6 Snow Leopard to Server 10.4.11 tiger???

I have gathered an image of Snow leopard using SIU 10.4 with no problems. I have also created a new install image and new boot image with the gathered snow leopard dmg, but I am unable to netboot to the tiger server from snow leopard. I was wondering if this was possible?
    Thanks

You can host a 10.6.x image from a 10.4 server, but you will not be able to create a valid 10.6 image using the 10.4 tools.

  • Project Summary Web Part - Can you change the display criteria

    Hi Sean,
Following on from Guillaume's excellent advice, you also also consider JavaScript or custom web part / app part if the default summary web part does not provide what you need. A couple of simple JavaScript examples can be found here:

  • How can you rotate the labels on the category axis of a graph in Illustrator and have it stay the same when updating the graph data?

I am needing to create a line graph with dates consisting of MM/DD/YY along the category axis. I would like to rotate the labels 45 degrees and have them stay when I update the graph. I have read about manually doing it, I even made an action to make it faster, but it still seems inefficient. Is there a setting that I could use to automatically create my labels as rotated? Thanks.

    Hi Gravy Train,
I'm curious about why you are using 2 loops.   You mentioned one is for monitoring and one is for DAQ....what do you mean by that?   What is the overall goal of this piece of code.   Also, I noticed that you are not closing the task.   Since this is just a subset, I realize you could be closing it in your actual code, but just in case you're not.....it is very important that you close all tasks when you are down acquiring data.

  • How can you open a network port in Snow Leopard?

    Hello everyone.
This is really out of my comfort zone, so I hope I don't sound like a complete idiot.
How do you open a port for an application? I downloaded a new application that requires access to ports 1900 and/or 9335. The application will not run unless one of those ports are free.
Can anyone shed light on what this means and how to fix it? Is this doable in Snow Leopard or is it something to do with our comcast router?
    Thanks in advance!
    Barry

Sorry for the delayed response on this as I discovered the problem and forgot to reply.
Another application, EyeConnect, was using the same port. EyeConnect is related to EyeTV for watching live cable on my Mac and I guess it installed some software that utilized my network.
Anyhow, I was able to disable it from launching on login and it seemed to do the trick! Thanks again for your input!

  • In MM03, can you configure the display layout of the "document data" tab?

In MM03 on the document data tab, we would like to shorten the length of the "document" column so that the Status field can be viewed on initial screen without scrolling to the right.  Is it possible to reconfigure this view?

    Hi Heidi,
to change the layout of the linked documents in transaction MM03 please go to the additional data tab and then please use the small configurations button (small table icon on the right side) and follow the below instructions:
    1.  Configure the table control as you want it.
    2. Click the settings button at the top of the table control.
    3. Enter a name and chhose "Create".
    4. If you want this variant to appear whenever the table control appears, set the "Use as default setting" option.
    5. Choose "Copy" to close the dialog box.
If you want to change how existing variants are used, or want to reactivate the basic setting, choose the corresponding settings from the list boxes and choose 'Copy' to close the dialog box.

  • Can you control the display on a Keithley 2400?

I have created a VI to control a Keithley 2400, but the enduser also wants to see results posted on the actual device.  Is this possible?

    Hi dt 1804,
Thanks for the post and I hope your well today!
I just had a read through the commands (from keithley website) and I couldnt spot anything that would display results - so I guess not. Unless there is some manual option..but Im afraid I wasnt up for reading the massive manual!
Surely if your using LabVIEW there isn't much point seeing the data on the device...

  • How to obtain the last upgrade to Snow Leopard?

I recently purchased the Snow Leopard disc from Apple to upgrade an older MacBook to Snow Leopard from Leopard. After successfully installing it, I realized it wasn't updated to latest version, 10.6.8. So, opening the software updater, I was stunned that to update everything would be a nearly 1.6GB download and here I am out in the bookdocks relying on HughesNet for "broadband" service.
The problem is that the download is so huge it will far surpass my dowload allowance. Using the wireless caard from my cell phone carrier indicates it will take 12 or more hours to download the updates IF the card doesn't drop a connection during the dowload as it is wont to do.
Any other options? Going to a public w-fi access point at the local library will also take an inordinate amount of time.
And, why in *%#@ can't Apple put the latest upgrade on the *%#@ install disc I bought?

    Thomas Hanrahan wrote:
I thought for extra $$ you could get the ML upgrade on a flash drive. you mean THAT'S been discontinued?
That was for 10.7 Lion (not 10.8 Mt. Lion) and it was discontinued.
And to upgrade (or  reinstall/repair) to 10.8 Mt Lion will require your Mac to be on a fast, reliable Internet connection as it's tied to your AppleID and machine.
Apple has introduced Gatekeeper and AppStore, they are highly discouraging installing outside sources of software in favor of all copy protected AppStore downloads. OS X is morphing  into the simplier closed iOS concept with 10.8 as well.
On a good note, Windows 7 is pretty decent and it can be installed on a Mac via BootCamp, by a retail disk or USB.
Once you get past the backlog of Windows updates, they then come in small sizes monthly instead of large occasional downloads like OS X does. Also you don't have to sign in with your AppleID to download the updates.
Windows 7 is very like the traditional desktop of Snow Leopard, well liked by Mac and Windows users alike and it will receive support and updates until 2020.
Once your Win 7 is updated and tweaked, make System Restore Disk images, then you can restore everything without requiring a fast Internet connection.
So in the regard for slower connections, Windows seems to be a better choice now.
