Cancelling a procedure in forms !!

Hello,
Our team is working on a project which involves scanning the tables in the schema of the user logged into the application.
Now the tables in this case are quite huge and the scanning takes time to complete.
There is a button in the form which calls the procedure which scans the schema.
I want to know whether there is a way by which the user can cancel or halt the execution of the procedure once it has been invoked i.e can we give a "CANCEL" button which stop the procedures execution once it has started.
I guess this would be possible if forms were multi threaded !!!
I dont know !! Is there a way ????

I want my form to display an instructor record with a button (calculate wage)You can use a base-table block to display rows of instructors, and put a push button in the block.
which will automatically insert the new ins_wage into the instructor_wage_log.Call your stored procedure in the when-button-pressed trigger.
Once the button has been pressed it will display the information that has been inputThen don't use dbms_output, which is used for server-side messages and debugging. Instead, load your message into an out parameter so the Form can display it. A message like that is best displayed in an alert, so you would use show_alert immediately after calling the procedure. Note that alerts can only display 200 characters.
and take you to the instructor_wage_log.I assume that would be a second base-table block. After displaying the alert in the when-button-pressed, the trigger could end with:
Go_block('INS_WAGE_LOG');

Batch procedure in Forms 10g, calling rdf and send by mail

Hi all,
I need your advice regarding my task: i have a table with invoices of some clients. I have created a report in Oracle Reports 10g R2, so to have a pdf with all the data from this table.
I have created a form in Forms 10g R2, displaying in a screen one field, where the user can choose the date of invoice. Then i will query by that date all my invoices in that table, and then i want to create a procedure in Forms, so that for every line in that table with the invoice date just chosen i will run HOST(rwrun ... all my parameters).
My questions:
1. I need to read some more about how to create a custom xml so to pass to my rwrun, and depending on the records fetched in my cursors in Forms 10g, i will pass a xml variable to my reports, so i will get the data from Forms 10g in the report created in Oracle Reports 10g. Is there any way that i can grep the errors? I need to create some insertions based on succes on failure, how can i accomplish this?
2. Is the above described scenario way to complicated to loop throuh a cursor, create a pdf, and mail the pdf until the cursor is totally fetched? Do you recommend me a simpler way to accomplish this task?

Hello,
I have a report with all my clients, with their email addresses in the same report. Each client as unique account number or invoice number.
So i want to burst and distribute each invoice to the corresponding client:
1. I have set REPEAT ON: INVOICE in oracle reports.
2. From Oracle Reports, i click on Distribution list, and in the DESNAME i type email_address (which is the column from the table with the invoices).
3. Then, File >> Distribute. Says: distribution completed succesfully, but nothing happens.
Question:
1. Where am i mistaking?
2. Is there any log activity file that i could see what the application is doing, step by step?

Different session used when calling stored procedure from form

after commiting data in a form to a table, a stored procedure is called that inserts the data written to the table into several other tables. Some columns in the original table are updated - no commit is issued in the procedure. On returning from the procedure the form is re-queried but the updated columns don't contain the updates. This seems to imply that the stored procedure is running as a different session to the one of the form.
Is this the case? Can we make the form and the stored procedure use the same session so that the data is available in both without having to commit in the procedure?

No. They should be within one session unless you explicitly open a new session.
The reason why you dont see updates of the data block when you requery is probably the changes on the form never go to the back end. I think first you have to make sure data changes go to db table. You can do a commit_form before calling the stored procedure and open up another session (e.g. sqlplus) to check the data in the table changed or not.

Ok First of all the answer to your first question.
You can use the Stored procedures in the same way as the Forms procedures. You can pass bind variables to the stored procedures as well. You can also use the stored procedures in any triggers, I think there are no restrictions for that. The only thing is you should be connected to database while compiling the trigger where you are calling the stored procedure.
Answer to your second question.
You cannot direct Forms (I don't know about version 10g), untill 9i, you cannot tell forms to take the stored procedure and leave the local procedure. It will always take the local procedure, once a procedure is called. If not found locally then only it will go for the Stored procedures.
For your third question.
As I told you b4 forms searches for the procedure being called locally first, if locally present, does not go to the stored procedure. If declared by different paramaters in the stored procedure and it is called, then it will throw error (as it first searches for the name locally and if found will take up the one present locally and since that procedure is with different parameter, will throw up error). It is after all a stupid machine and can't think like us.

How can i create procedures at form level.
I can create them in the database by sqlplus but then the procedures would be server specific.

Previous page navigation after on click of cancel button of a form in adf

Can any one tell how previous page navigation works in adf?
I am working on a portal page which is having a common footer for all jspx pages.This footer contains a golink for feedback form.
so the problem is when I Navigate to any page (# page 1)and then Navigate to some other page (#page 2) and on click of Feedback link displayed on footer of page 2 Feedback form is displayed. and on Click of Cancel button of the form.
Expected Result:
User should be navigated to the page that they were on. (i.e., Page 2)
Actual Result:
User is navigated to page 1 instead of page 2
i.e it is taking browser previous url.
I am using the following code for the cancel button

Immediate = true is already been set for cancel button
The problem is when i come back to the 1st page vo is getting executed again and is taking lot of time.. i need to see that vo does not get executed again
in the vo for view criteria -- query execution mode , i have made as in memory and now it has become fast on click of cancel button. But i am getting the following error when i perform search in the first page
Missing FROM in a SELECT statement
An unexpected expression token is found.

Problem with IN OUT parameters whiloe calling procedure from Form 6i

Hi
Could some help please? I have the following scenario.
I am calling a stored procedure from form 6i by pressing a button on the form. Procedure has two IN OUT parameters, and I am passing these two IN OUT parameters and have declared them the way they are declared passed to the procedure. But I get an error when calling that procedure with these IN OUT parameters. the procedure works fine if parameters are IN only. The error says:
PLS:00363: Expression '1' cannot be used as an assigment target.
NO matter I pass some value or leave it blank, I get the same error message persistenetly.

make sure you are calling your procedure with variables as parameters,
i.e.
      l_v1 := 1 ;

Error Handling on procedure based forms

Hi all,
I have seen examples of error handling on table based forms like
the following:
begin
doInsert;
exception
when others then
--redirect to some error page
I have tried the same with a procedure based form by wrapping
the doSubmit procedure, but when the procedure returns an
exception, it doesn't execute my exception handling code.
Any ideas on why this is happening or at least how I can catch
these exceptions with my own exception handler?

I opened a TAR on this issue with Oravle and they got the same
results. Thay suggested a work around of creating an error table
that gets written to and then dispaly and new page to retrieve
the error from the table.
What I ended up doing is creating a dummy procedure that does
nothing (NULL). The form based on the dummy procedure allows me
to get the values I need from the user.
The procedure always returns succesful since it doesn't do
anything. So in the form success code area I call the real
procedure, check the return value, and now I can redirect back
to the orignal form on error, or direct to another paqe on
success.
Not the most elegant solution, but it is working for now.
