Canned Reports in Oracle

Hi all,
We are a helpdesk for our customers who use the Oracle Purchasing Apps to do all their procurement. As part of the helpdesk activity we perform functional and technical support.
One of the requirements we get from our client is to run "reports" in the oracle db to pull out info related to invoices, PO's , requistions etc.
Most of these reports are standard reports where only the date ranges change or specific business names or Org id's change . We currently use TOAD to run these reports.
Is there some way we can develop canned reports using a software or probably by using an existing functionality in Oracle.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Create new reports (BI Publisher, Oracle Reports, PL/SQL, SQL*Plus) and register as concurrent program.
Alternatively look at Discoverer.

It will install necessary components at installation time. And when you run the forms, it will install JDK if not already installed.

Oracle canned reports verification

Is there a way we can tell whether a canned report has been modified/customized or retained in its original form provided by Oracle out of the box without any modifications/customizations whatsoever post go live or prior to go live? The report objects' last modified date gets the date of go-live or last upgrade or patch date. This is for an audit and our objective is to minimize the extent of procedures if it is a standard Oracle provided report in its original form.

Yes you can, but be sure you will not install it in the same home with 8.7 or later versions of database.

Please post the details of the application release, database version and OS.
Is the issue with this specific concurrent program?
Can you find any errors in the CM/OPP log files?

Migration MS ACCESS FORMS and Reports to Oracle (Java or Forms or Reports)

Hello ,
can someone tell me, how i can migrate a whole MS ACCESS 2000 mdb (with forms and Reports) to Oracle.
I think i have first migrate the Access DB with the OMWB to Oracle and in the next Step to convert the VBA Code to JAVA or Forms9i.
BUT Is there a tool available for Migrating VBA code like the OMWB ????

I don't know if this is an obvious question, but do you have MS Access 2k installed on the machine you are trying to run this from? I'm assuming yes.
If you do and there is still a problem, you should log a ticket for support who will take your mdb and help out with the issue for you.

Doubts about generating reports in Oracle

Hi,
I am Oracle DBA, but I need some instructions from you â oracle developers- related to how implement reports from Oracle 9i Application Server Enterprise built on Sun Solaris 9.
Nowadays, my client is using Oracle Reports Server that comes with Oracle 9i AS, but he wants to substitute the Oracle Reports Sever to another software (a cheaper one) so he will be able to decrease the Application Server Enterprise to a Standard edition.
The reports here are constructed under Oracle Reports, and these reports are accessed from a web application.
The flow here is:
The user requires the report in a web page from internet.
The user inputs the parameters in the web page.
So the client machine sends this to the apache server, that constructs the sql statement or calls a procedure stored in the database server.
The return happens in this same way until the user sees its report on the screen in a pdf format.
Now my client wants from me 2 or 3 detailed suggestions to substitute this architecture
that involves so many softwares and servers to a cheaper and simpler one. My target is to remove out the Report Server, and suggest other tools which can do the same.
So, as I am dba, can someone there help me please with any hint????

I'm also not an application developer, but I thinks it depends all on the complexity of the reports. If these are relatively simple, PL/SQL can do the work.
Concerning Java, I heard Oracle's JDeveloper is the right choice.
Some people say, if you are going to start a new project, don't think of Oracle Developer Suite (Forms/Reports), but use Java and JDeveloper.

How To View a Discoverer Report In Oracle Applications

I have 1 problem...
Im using Oracle Discoverer 4i.
I have connected to Oracle Applications through Discoverer Administration and created a Business Area and created a report and able to see the report in Desktop Edition, which i connected to Oracle Applications in Desktop Edition also.
But now my question is how to see that Report in Oracle Applications when i connect to Oracle Applications through explorer and selecting a responsibility
when i connected to Oracle Applications im not getting the report which i have created.
Is it possible to view a report in Oracle Applications using Discoverer 4i..
Please can any 1 help it out ..its very urgent..

Hi,
You need to have an Apps mode EUL so that you logon with an Applications username and password. You then need to grant privileges to your responsibilities and also set security on your Business Areas so that they can be accessed by your responsibilities.
Once that is set up, you can create form functions so that you can add links to Discoverer reports in your Applications menus. Metalink Note 278095.1 explains how to do this.

Calling Report From Oracle Forms

I am calling this one report from oracle forms, I am using global temporary table to run that report. I am first inserting data into the temporary table through oracle form and then i am calling report in that form to view the data in that temporary table. The problem is, we can not view the data of an other session if we are using temporary table. When i call report from that form a new session get created due to which i can not see the data. Is there any method of calling report from oracle form that a same session is used to run the report?

As you mention Forms and Reports do not share the database session. I had the same problem and resolved it using record groups and DATA_PARAMETER to transfer data from Forms to Reports. You could also read the Note 110495.1 on Metalink to find useful information regarding this issue.

How to print BIP reports from Oracle Forms?

Hi all,
I have a question in regards to printing BIP reports from Oracle Forms... We are aiming for a server installation of BIP with integration to Oracle Forms using SSO to handle security. We use Forms built-in web.show_document to render and view the report in PDF/Excel etc... We would like to by pass the viewing and print some of these reports directly to the printer.
Any idea/suggestions how we can go about this?

Yahya,
via HTTP it's not possible to send a report directly to the printer. You had to go via the Scheduler, which is able to do that. With the WebService API you can call a report with the Scheduler and Execute Immediate.
