Cannot add PDF to email-using Yahoo Email

I use email Rocketmail(yahoo product) I am unable to attach PDFs to my outgoing emails, also use Nortons 360-virus/firewall.

Could you describe the steps and where it is failing? For example, you can click a browse button to look for files, you can see the PDF files, you can choose a file and click the button, but the file doesn't actually attach? Et cetera.
Can you attach other types of documents without a problem, or are multiple kinds of attachments affected?

I have been using firefox for years to read my email. recently the size of text became small and hard to read. I would like to get the text size large again, so I don't have to use the other browser. I have a att yahoo email account and subscribe to at&t uverse for internet service.

I tried both of your suggestions and neither one worked. I found the solution by clicking on the "View" button, then "Reset". This put my email back to the original font/text size. Somehow the screen had been Zoomed in, so to change it, follow the instructions above.

When I try to forward a PDF file by using the email button on the toolbar, it won't send.

I cannot always forward a PDF using the email button on the toolbar. For example, I get a report forwarded to me as a link. When I open the link, the document opens as a PDF. I use the email button on the toolbar to forward the document as an attachment. Outlook pops up as a new message with the attachment. I finish writing my email and hit the "send" button and I get an error saying the doucment couldn't be sent. If I close the email and save it as a draft, I can open the draft copy and it will send. Is there someway to fix this so I can eliminate these extra steps? This has happened on a computer with Adobe Reader as well as a computer with Adobe Acrobate 9 Standard.

I am sorry that I cannot help you but I am having a similar problem. I can rec/send email but my email is duplicated and a pop up says that my server is not responding. I have spent most of the afternoon trying to get it corrected. I finally decided to take it to my Apple store next week.

Reset the device did not help me but it does triggers me to attempt to resend the PDF file attachment on email--and it works the 2nd time. My problem is now solved.
The Adobe Reader is very helpful--it allows me to scroll through the document easily, unlike iBooks, where I cannot scroll straight up or down.

Sorry to hear about the login problem. The resolution depends on the error you're getting. If it's more like a username/password issue, you can retrieve that by choosing Forgot password option.

sorry, I thought it was one of the built in options. you can do it with an apple script rule then.

I cannot find this 300GB "Backup" in the Finder, only in the Storage info when I check "About This Mac".
You are probably using Time Machine to backup your MacBook Pro, right? Then the additional 300 GB could be local Time Machine snapshots. Time Machine will write the hourly backups to the free space on your hard disk, if the backup drive is temporarily not connected. You do not see these local backups in the Finder, and MacOS will delete them, when you make a regular backup to Time Machine, or when you need the space for other data.

I have restarted my computer, but the information remains the same. How do I reclaim the use of the 300GB? Why is it showing up as "Backups" when it used to indicate "Photos"? Are my photos safe on the external drive?
You have tested the library on the external drive, and so your photos are save there.
The local TimeMachine snapshot probably now contains a backup of the moved library. Try, if connecting your Time Machine drive will reduce the size of your local Time Machine snapshots.

I just got my iPhone from Movistar Venezuela and I've found I'm unable to send email using my Yahoo account. However, I can receive Yahoo email just fine (paid $20 for Mail Plus subscription), my GMail account can send and receive perfectly, and I can go surfin' Safari with no problems too.
The error message I get is "Cannot send mail: an error occurred while delivering this message". I called Movistar Customer Support and they said everything was fine on their end...
In typical Apple fashion, the error message is so simple I have no idea where the problem is. Does anyone know how can I get more information and how to solve this annoying problem? My Yahoo account is actually my primary account...

Sin embargo, si puedo recibir correo Yahoo bien (pague $20 por mi suscripcion a Mail Plus), mi cuenta de GMail si puede enviar y recibir email sin problema y puedo navergar con Safari sin ningun problema.
El mensaje de error que recibo es el siguiente": "No se puede enviar correo: se ha producido un error al enviar el mensaje". Llame a Atencion al Cliente de Movistar y me dijeron que no habia ningun problema con mi linea o con su servicio de datos...

3) Ve a Ajustes
4) Ve a Mail Contactos Calendarios
5) Ve a la cuenta problematica
6) Ve a SMTP
7) Anadir nuevo

1) Delete account
2) Create again
3) Go to settings
4) Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars
5) Open problematic account
6) Go to SMTP
7) Add a new server
8)
Name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
User name: do not leave blank
Password: do not leave blank
SSL: Yes
Autentication: Password
Port: 25

I'm having major problems with my yahoo email in Mail. No matter what settings i seem to use, any emails i send take hours and hours to arrive. I seem to be receiving email, but cannot send- sometimes i get an error message, other times they go into sent box but take hours or days to arrive. i'm using a brand new imac version 10.5.2

If you’re sure your settings are exactly the same as on the computers where it works, here a couple of things that you may want to look at.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Also, try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible, i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc., and see whether that makes a difference.
Mail keeps information about outgoing servers in a separate list, independently of any specific mail account. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Orphaned or dangling outgoing server entries (i.e. not associated with any account) sometimes cause weird sending problems.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there. The Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.

Why can't I attach files using Yahoo email? I've clicked on 'Attach files more easily' and nothing happens. With all other browsers, I have no issues attaching files.

I want to attach Word files to some of my yahoo emails. Instead of the word 'attach' like on all other browsers, Fierfox wants me to click on 'Attach files more easily' and download this. Nothing happens leaving me unable to use Firefox if I wish to use my yahoo email and send attachments, files or pics.

The only way I can open a PDF is to launch the Reader X software and click "open files" from there. Obviously, this doesn't help me since I need to email PDFs to clients, and printing 'n faxing isn't an option.

You can an email account from either your ISP (internet service provider) or from an email account provider only such as Apple (.Mac), Yahoo, etc.

I have Cable modem service at Home and I purchased an Airport Express wireless router which is connected to my cable modem. This allows me to create a wireless network at home which is password protected and encrypted. Any neighbors within range of my wireless network can see my network but are unable to connect to it (without my permission or knowledge) since I have it password protected and encrypted.
Although your friend's MacBook may be within range of someone else's wireless network, most are password protected (or should be) and even if not protected, this doesn't give your friend or anyone else the right to connect to this dumb person's unprotected wireless network without their permission and knowledge.
Even if your friend does so with or without permission, he will probably have problems sending messages with an email account and SMTP server not provided by the person's internet service provider with the wireless network.
There are a number of paid and free wireless access locations at coffee shops and the like but each has different requirements for using an email account and SMTP server that is outside of their network.
Having an Airport or wireless card does not give you free internet access unless you are within range of a free public wireless network which must be within 150 feet or so.

Can not attach photos using Yahoo email account

I am new to the Mac OPS and maybe it is just something that I do not know, but why can't I attach photos to an email using my Yahoo email account? I have read the way to change the preference of email providers, ie: entourage or mac mail. But I have neither accounts. I was just wondering if there was a way to do this, or if the program could be updated so that it could be possible.

Yahoo email is a service not an application. If you have the Pro version of this service then you can set it to work with one of the applications in the iPhoto preferences. Otherwise you'll need to use one of these:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.

To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto. With 10.5 you can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:

If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

Anyone Here Who Uses Yahoo Email Having Trouble? Re Attaching Files?

Hi, I'm running on OS 9.2 and haven't had time to upgrade yet. And ever since Yahoo upgraded Classic email I've been having trouble and wondering if anyone else who has a Mac and uses Yahoo has had the same? I wrote to their Help section and they wanted me to send a screen shot of the problem. Well, I managed to do that but I can't attach! I don't send attachments that often so I can't remember if there ever was a box saying Browse. I thought there was one just saying Open and I'd click that and the file would go into this slot, then I'd click attach and the thing was done. Was there ever a Browse tab to click on?
But with this upgrade, when the box from my Desktop appears with the files, I select one, then click Open and it does go to the slot on the Yahoo page. But then when I click attach, another page appears with four boxes that turn blue one at a time as the file rotates, I guess. Then it'll stop at the second or third box. After that it goes back to the page with the file slots and there's a yellow box with red writing that says file not specified so I can't send it. Never had this problem before.
The first problem I was trying to highlight is that now every time you write an email, at one point it automatically saves as a Draft after a few sentences. A notice in bold appears at the upper right hand corner saying Draft Last Saved At: and gives the time. At the same time this happens, three rectangular boxes appear on the bottom left hand side of the email I'm replying to or composing, with numbers in them. In the first one, the first numbers are always 1212 like it's trying to dial NYC. The middle box says 240 and in the last box are a combo of letters and numbers. If I delete them, they reappear after a few seconds and it seems like every time they appear, another Draft is saved, from the number of them in the draft box.
I've also been having trouble with returns making new paragraphs. And last night I couldn't write an email at all! I was trying to reply to one and this time all the cursor did was highlight in black the message from someone I was trying to delete because they don't like to see their original message in my reply. After that, the cursor wouldn't move at all; I couldn't delete and I couldn't write the message. That's why I'm writing now from my office Mac. On the Yahoo mail blog the writer says he knows people are having difficulties with paragraphs and they're trying to solve them. He asked that people write with any other problems so I did write this morning and hopefully I'll get some kind of reply. But in the meantime I thought I'd write here just in case anyone else has had trouble with their Yahoo emailing. After I replied to Yahoo Help and told them I was unable to send them a screen shot, the only reply I got back was: we know you're having a problem but without a screen shot we're unable to help. Well, duh! That's what I can't do! lol So I gave up on them. Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi, and thanks. And I am using iCab, but it's the free version so maybe that's the problem. How'd you get it to identify itself as Firefox? Never mind, I probably wouldn't understand anyway. lol Looks like my Browse tab got lost somewhere, then. It seems I have no choice but to find time to upgrade since I don't have any problems when I use the office iMac, which has Tiger. On my Mac, I also have the old IE browser and I was able to use that to get Classic email before they messed with it. But the other day when I tried to get through to Yahoo using that, now there's just a bare-bones version of the email system, with everything on this vertical list, so maybe that's about to go, too. Maybe Microsoft needs to try again to grab Yahoo and fix things up!

What OS are your running? If you can access your user library, you can go to Keychains/login.keychain and move it to your desktop. Restart and a new login keychain should be created. If successful, delete the one from your desktop.
