Cannot commit or rollback a JDBC Connection from CAF project
Hi Everybody,
I'm working in CE 7.10. I have a CAF Project that gets a JDBC connection from a Custom Datasource to an external Database.
Here is the code:
try
Context ctx = new InitialContext();
DataSource ds = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/MYDATABASE");
con = ds.getConnection();
con.setAutoCommit(false);
Statement statement = con.createStatement();
String updateStatement = "UPDATE TABLE...";
statement.executeUpdate(updateStatement);
con.commit();
catch(SQLException sqle){
con.rollback();
I got the following exception on line "con.setAutoCommit(false);": --> "Cannot begin JDBC transaction from this connection of "MYDATABASE" DataSource. JTA transaction has already started."
and the following on line "con.commit() / con.rollback()" : --> "Cannot commit JDBC transaction from this connection of "MYDATABASE" DataSource. This resource participates in a JTA transaction."
If I run the same code from a webDynpro or a J2EE project it works ok, but not from a CAF Application Service. I tried to do it in a simple Class in the CAF Project and call this clas from the Application service, but I get the same error.
Any Ideas??
Thanks a lot!
Regards.
Solved with "SessionContext.setRollbackOnly()" instruccion.
Regards.

Error retrieving JDBC connection from remote client (WLS 10.0)
Hallo,
I get an error when I try to retrieve a JDBC connection from a WLS datasource using a remote client. My Weblogic server version is: WebLogic Server 10.0 MP1 Thu Oct 18 20:17:44 EDT 2007 1005184
I use the following code to retrieve the JDBC connection:
Hashtable<String,String> ctxEnv = null;
InitialContext ctx = null;
DataSource dataSource = null;
Connection con = null;
ctxEnv = new Hashtable<String,String>();
ctxEnv.put(InitialContext.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
ctxEnv.put(InitialContext.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://localhost:7001");
ctx = new InitialContext(ctxEnv);
dataSource = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("datasources/XXX");
con = dataSource.getConnection();
When I execute this code with the weblogic.jar in the classpath everything works fine. However, when I put the wlfullclient.jar in the classpath which I created using the JAR Builder Tool I get the follwoing error:

Can please anyone tell me what's going on there? What really astonishes me is that the class mentioned in the stacktrace is neither present in the wlfullclient.jar nor in the weblogic.jar, but using the weblogic.jar everything works fine. Any hint would be appreciated so much ...
Here is the log written when is created the wlfullclient.jar:

you find out what jar you're
loading the InstrumentationSupport class from? That's
the original location of
the error, and that class doesn't exist in 10.0.Hi Joe, thanks for your reply.
First of all, let me clarify what we did and why we did it: We have a stand-alone client application that needs to communicate with a Weblogic server using the t3 protocol (we don't want IIOP or HTTP tunneling). According to the official BEA documentation (see http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/client/basics.html and http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/client/t3.html) we needed to create the wlfullclient.jar file. We did this using the Weblogic JAR Builder Tool (see http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/client/jarbuilder.html). Unfortunatley we discovered the problem mentioned in my original post when we tried to run the client with that wlfullclient.jar.
Regarding your classloading question: The InstrumentationSupportImpl class is located in the wlfullclient.jar, so it does exist in WLS 10.0 (it is also contained in the weblogic.jar). Unfortunately this JAR does not contain the required class "weblogic.diagnostics.instrumentation.InstrumentationDebug". I searched for this class and found it in the OSGI module "com.bea.core.diagnostics.instrumentor_1.0.1.0.jar" shipped with the Weblogic server. Obviously the JAR Builder Tool did not include the contents of this OSGI bundle into the wlfullclient.jar. I tried to include this OSGI bundle into the classpath of the client app manually (just for testing purposes), but this onyl resultet in another NoClassDefFoundError. This time the class "com.bea.objectweb.asm.Constants" could not be found.
What astonishes me is the fact that the connection retrieval works fine when we only have the weblogic.jar in the client applications classpath, but fails when we have the wlfullclient.jar in the classpaht. It seems that the t3 communication is handled completely different, depending on what JARs I have in the classpath. Also, JMS communication works fine in both cases (i.e. for the weblogic.jar and the wlfullclient.jar). The only thing that causes problems (at least as far as we have discovered) is getting a JDBC connection from a datasource. I simply fail to see why this is the case.
Best regards,
DirkInteresting. I hope the official support case solves your problem.
I would like to dig further, but it's too far afield for me with
the workload I have at the moment.

Native JDBC connection from BO Explorer to HANA
Hello.
Could you please give me the step-by-step instructions to set up the native HANA JDBC connection from BO Explorer?
I followed the steps in P.12-13 of 'SAP BusinessObjects Explorer Administrator's Guide for BO BI 4.0 SP02', but I could not see the "SAP High-Performance Analytic Appliance (SAP HANA) 1.0" in 'Manage Spaces' in BO Explorer.
I did as follows:
1. Log on to the BusinessObjects Enterprise CMC as Administrator.
2. Click "Servers".
3. Expand "Service Categories", right-click on "Explorer Services", then select 'Stop Server'.
4. Return to CMC's home screen, and click "Applications".
5. Right-click "Explorer", and select "Properties".
6. Within "Advanced Configuration", set the following parameters, and save them.
newdb.system.alias = NEWDBHANA
newdb.url = jdbc:sap://HANA_ADDRESS:30015
newdb.authentication.mode = ConfiguredIdentity
newdb.user = system
newdb.password = manager
newdb.connections.enabled = true
7. Return to CMC's home screen, and click "Users and Groups".
8. Click "User List", right-click on "Administrator", and select "Properties".
9. Check "Enable Database Credentials", and enter Windows' administrator and its password, and save them.
10. Return to CMC's home screen, and click "Servers".
11. Expand "Service Categories", right-click on "Explorer Services", then select 'Start Server'.
12. Log on to the BO Explorer as Administrator.
13. Click "Manage Spaces".
14. "SAP High-Performance Analytic Appliance (SAP HANA) 1.0" is not shown in "Sources".
Thank you very much,

JDBC connect from remote computer fails
Hi all,
I have successfully installed the XE server and I can connect over JDBC from clients running locally on the machine where the XE server is installed.
However when I try to connect from a remote computer using the same client I get an error saying: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
I can ping the machine with XE installed and all firewalls on the machines are turned off.
Any ideas on the subject of JDBC remote connect to XE server? Or is it simply that it is not supported?
Appreciate all the help I can get.
Thanks,
/AndersOn my machine I have the listener bound to local interface.
Listener.ora has hostname in it, and this is the listener status:
As status shows the hostname is resolved to localhost, on this machine I am unable (with this configuration) to share the db to other machines (I do not have oracle client on my other pc, but telnet is unable to connect to port 1521).
Changing hostname to ipaddres solves.

2 jdbc connections from a java application works ok to 9i but not to 10g
Hi,
I hava java swing application which opens one jdbc connection. Tha application has 10 classes all of which are in one package say app.someapp.pkg1. This works ok.
I am trying to integrate a second java component which provides a drilldown JTree interface to the user. The second component has 6 classes and has its own package app.someotherapp.pkgA. The second java component also opens a JDBC connection.
If both the jdbc connections point to a common 9i database it works fine.
If both the jdbc connections point to a common 10g 10.0.2.0.0 database the second component fails to open the conection.
Some static variables in the two packages may be getting overloaded i.e connection. Should this matter even though the packages are different.
Are there any issues in opening a 2nd connection to 10.0.2.0.0 using JDBC.
What might I be doing wrong can anyone suggest a line of attack
SaugatoDear All
IT WORKS FINE . Pls disregards this thread
I misinterpreted the ORA-02019 error message. The 10g instance was missing a database link to a 3rd remote database . The 9i instance had this database link hence was not complaining.
The following error was thrown when a select was performed on a table refred to using the database link.

Need help in DB2 JDBC connection from JDeveloper extension
Hi,
I am using JDeveloper extension to build my application. Here in the preferences, I have a UI in which I need to specify DB2 database connection parameters for establishing JDBC connection. After copying the required driver jar and license jar to the extension folder and specifying the CLASSPATH in extension.xml file, I am able to get the DB Connection. But the issue here is, I do not want the user to copy the driver jars to the extension path and neither to hardcode the driver CLASSPATH in extension.xml. Instead, if the user loads the driver jar in the CLASSPATH using command line, after launching JDev plug-in, I need to still be able to connect to the DB2 JDBC which is not happening. I am getting the error which says "Missing class com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver". I have ensured that the CLASSPTH is set for the driver and licensing jars for DB2. How can I get rid of this error without specifying the classpath in extension.xml file.
Thanks,
Sudha.

Any help in this is appreciated.

JujaarWhy do you have the Class.forName() in a separate try-catch block than the DriverManager.getConnection()?
Try placing everything in the same try-catch block to see if that resolves your problem.
You may also want to try using an OracleDataSource.
OracleDataSource ods = new OracleDataSource();
String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@//hostname:port/SID",
ods.setURL(url);
ods.setUser("apps");
ods.setPassword("password");
Connection conn = ods.getConnection();
Refer to http://st-doc.us.oracle.com/11/111/java.111/b31224/getsta.htm#i1008334 for details on how to connect to the database using a Data Source. -
ADF Jdbc Connection from bc4j.xcfg
How do you obtain a JdbcConnection from bc4j.xcfg file.
I am creating a DBUnit which needs a JdbcConnection object to properly setup datasets?
how about if I use this:
ApplicationModule module = Configuration.createApplicationModule(); //the applicationModule was successfully created
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(Configuration.CONNECT_STRING,Configuration.USER_NAME, Configuration.PASS_WORD); Will this get the existing connection or create a new connection?I guess you get a new connection this way. If you have an ApplicationModule you can get the internal connection this way public Connection getCurrentConnection(ApplicationModule aApp)
Statement st = null;
try
// create Dummy Statement to get the connection
st = aApp.getDBTransaction().createStatement(0);
return st.getConnection();
catch (SQLException s)
// Log some message here and do something
finally
// close statement
if (st != null)
try
st.close();
catch (SQLException s2)

Getting Exception in jdbc connection got from DataSource in Oracle AS
Hi
i am using data source in my application.
When my application is invoked it gets the jdbc connection from the data source, performs set of operations and then releases the connection.
But if the application is invoked after a long time e.g. 10 hours then i get the following exceptions which i have logged:
Io exception: Connection reset
and the other exception is given below:
Closed Connection
The data-sources.xml is as follows:
<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
<!DOCTYPE data-sources PUBLIC "Orion data-sources" "http://xmlns.oracle.com/ias/dtds/data-sources.dtd">

password="xxxxxxxx"
url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:orcl"

Please let me know what is wrong with my application or configuration setting or something is wrong with oracle application server.Hi,
I found one solution which is for 10.1.2.x and i am using Oc4j 10.1.3.1 but solution is below
Solution
There is a new setting called "ValidateConnections" from 10.1.2.x. This setting will make sure to check the validity of the connections before it is assigned to the application.
1. Download and apply the patch for unpublished bug 4305639 for your current 10.1.2.x version. If a patch is not already available then please submit a backport request to get the patch to your version.
2. Set the command line option "-DValidateConnections=true" and restart the container. This can be set via EM AS control or by manually updating opmn.xml file. After the changes the options should look like
<process-type id="oc4j_test1" module-id="OC4J">
<module-data>
<category id="start-parameters">
<data id="java-options" value="-server -Djava.security.policy=/opt/oracle/jw101202/j2ee/oc4j_test1/config/java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -DValidateConnections=true" />
<data id="oc4j-options" value="-properties"/>

Problem w. transaction notSupported / releasing JDBC connections
We are making a call from our EJB client to a stateless session EJB (1) with transaction attribute 'Required' for all methods. From this EJB (1) we get a JDBC connection from the pool and do some JDBC calls (no updates). We then make a call to a method in another stateles session EJB (2) with transaction attribute 'NotSupported' for all methods. In EJB2 we get a JDBC connection from the pool and do some JDBC calls (no updates). Something goes wrong and we catch a SqlException. We then throw a EJBException. So far everything is OK. But now we get a SqlException from the transaction: 'java.sql.SQLException: Connection is currently associated with xid: 970661671558_182.Rollback attempted in the scope of a different transaction'. It seems like the container tries to perform a rollback on the EJB tat doesn't support transactions. Shouldn't the transaction have been suspended when we entered the method in EJB2? Our problem is that the JDBC connection we got from the pool doesn't get released even though we closed it in a finally-statement in both EJB:s. So after some time we are out of free JDBC connections in our connection pool. Does anyone know why this happens?

Actual implementation of interfaces involved in JDBC connection creation
Pl some body tell me where does the actual implementation of interfaces like connection,Statement,PreparedStatement..we use to to make a JDBC connection from a simple application or J2EE application.
ThanksHi sharma,
JDBC API will be implemented by JDBC Driver vendors. For example Microsoft provide "com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver" driver for SQL Server 2000. Similarly Oracle privide several JDBC Drivers to be used with Oracle databases.
Sun has provided a JDBC-ODBC bridge (Driver) along with its JDK or JSDK. This driver is capable for connecting Java applications with any ODBC connection.
Cuz this driver is included with the JDK/JSDK therefore you can use it to connect with for example MS Access DB or any other ODBC connected DB.
If you want to connect your Java or J2EE application to some specific database then you should get the Driver for that particular database.

JDBC connection monitor on CSS11506
Hi experts
Does anyone has experiece for monitoring oracle database performance by JDBC connection from CSS11506? I guess by script?
if it is not possible to do so, if there is otherway the system do eitehr application server or DB server is performance is too low?
I found the ping is not the solution.
Any comments will be appreciated
Thanks in advanceHello,
SASP or DFP are the only automated systems the CSS hooks directly into:

You can configure Load Variables with ACA loadbalancing for a CSS based view of the load:

In the document of doc\webhelp\en\usermanual\designer\model\data_services_use.htm
asys that how config datasouce at WEB-INF/context.xml of Web Services container(Axis2). I configed the odi master , but can not work.
What schema should JDBC Datasource use and what tables or other objects should exists in the datasource schema ?
Anyone known may tell me , thanks !The error Error While Creating JDBC Connection From Data Source means that the dataservices can't create a connection using the Datasource name you provided.
1) Check that the data source name you provided in the Odi Model is the same as the one you provided in context.xml prefixed by java:/comp/env/
2) Check that your datasource is correctly configured
3) Check that the jdbc driver is in the tomcat/commons/lib directory
If one of this step wasn't right redeploy your data services and restart tomcat. -
Servlets and multiple JDBC connections...
Hi Guru's
I want to perform multiple JDBC queries simultaneously from my servlet. Let's say I have a connection pool containing JDBC connections. Now what I want to do is to use each of this connections simultaneously to perform queries in parallel.
What is the best way to do this??? create multiple threads, one for each query, and then collate results when all threads are finished???
Has anyone does this before or know of any links or samples which I can look at??
your help much appreciated...
Many ThanksThanks but further questions....
But take care:
multithreading might only work parallel if there are
multiple processors - otherwise the thread fragments
will be processed one after the other until they are
finished.I agree. My server has multiple processors hence multi-threading.
Why do you need to perform the queries
simultaneously?
wouldn't it work too when you perform the queries one
after the other?To speed up performance. Sequential processing is too slow at the moment.
Hope you don't try doing so inside one single
database...yes inside a single databse.
Do you have any links to sample example etc..??? Importantly are you aware of any issues when one does this type of multi-threading from servlet. i.e does it clash with servlet's threading model etc...
I am aware of how servlets multithread requests and am quite familiar with them. Just wanted some examples on multithreading JDBC connections from servlets and how I can wait for all threads to finish before collecting results....also wanted to make sure that there are no other issues....
further help will be much appreciated.....
