Cannot connect cruzer blade flash disk

My new Sandisk Cruzer Blade 2GB Flash Drive is not being recognised in the USB port. Is their a problem with this device on the Macbook Air or do I have a defective drive?

You say it's "new", so I presume empty as well.
Launch Disk Utility, in your Utilities folder. See if the drive shows there. If so, select and format the disk by performing an "Erase" of the drive. Format the drive either FAT32 or Mac Format, depending on whether you need PC usability. This may restore functionality to your drive.
If the drive doesn't show in Disk Utility, return the drive to where you bought it.

  • Cannot connect Time machine external disk

My Mac with OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks?) time machine disk keeps loosing the connection to the disk and I cannot figure out how to reconnec the disk.

If Disk Utility does not recognize the external device, it's probably broken and needs to be replaced. Try a different USB cable and different USB port on your Mac before drawing that final conclusion.
An OS X upgrade itself won't directly cause hardware failure. What might have occurred is that the extensive backup subsequent to upgrading OS X may have accelerated its eventual demise.
Also, if you had been using particular Western Digital "utility" software known as "drive manager", "SmartWare", or words to that effect, it was known to cause external hard disks to become unusable, chronicled here. WD allegedly fixed that problem a long time ago. All software similar to it should be avoided.

  • Cannot connect my time machine disk

My Mac with OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks?) time machine disk keeps loosing the connection to the disk and I cannot figure out how to reconnec the disk.

Problem solved!  It was actually spotlight service using the time machine backup.  I searched the internet and found some info on this.   I 'forced quit' the process in activity monitor (called 'mds') and it worked....now I was successfully able to eject the time machine backup drive.  Now, it must take days for this to index the drive but, I want to be able to eject my time machine drive whenever it is done backing up so that I can take my macbook to different rooms without having to carry the drive!

  • Cannot connect to USB shared disk

The other day got my new Airport Extreme-n and up unitl now it has worked solidly. The most annoying problem is accessing shared USB disks. I have attached a USB disk to the ABE and it is recognized. Then, enabled disk sharing with a simple disk password for testing purposes. The is as far as the documentation goes however.
I am guessing the Airport Disk Utility is supposed to mount these shared USB disks. The only thing I am seeing is "NO Disk Found"
The disk has been formatted in both HFS and FAT32 and still the same results, nothing. I even accessing the shared disk through a windows share and sometimes I can but it will not let me add or retrieve files.
Ant help would be great. Thank you.

Unfortunately this has become a known issue in the meantime and Apple is supposed to be working on it. Usually this happens when the APExtreme gets disconnected from your computer (e.g. power loss or taking your mobile mac to another location). The following is not really a solution but better then nothing:
    1) Connect your USB HD directly to your computer and wait for recognition and mounting
    2) Disconnect properly
    3) reconnect the USB HD to your APE
    4) it should be recognised
    5) hope for a soon software-update

  • Cannot connect to blade SP from CMM ILOM

    Hi,
I'm trying to connect to the SP of Sun Blade T6300 server module, by doing the following:
    -> start /CH/BL3/SP/cli
Are you sure you want to start /CH/BL3/SP/cli (y/n)? y
    Could not create directory '/home/0/.ssh'.
ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
As you can see - it isn't working - any ideas what I have to do to get this working?
I have tried setting the user to root and admin - neither work.

FYI, I upgraded to Advanced Lights Out Manager CMT v1.6.4 on the T6300, and this works fine now. It was on CMT v1.3.6 before.

I cannot connect to my air disk on a wired PC. It gives me an invalid user or password (error 5) Message. I can connect just fine via my Wireless PC. Odd.

  • When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen?

When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen? How do i get past it?

I seem to recall that this may be cause by overloading the USB bus (lack of power to go around).  Shut down your computer.  Reset the iPod shuffle using this procedure.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Disconnect ALL peripheral USB devices, including keyboard and mouse.  Power up the computer.  If you need your mouse, connect it and launch iTunes.  Connect the iPod shuffle to a direct USB port and try the sync again.  See if there is any difference.

  • Cannot connect to disk

I've had my time capsule about 3 months.
Recently, say every couple of days, I'll no longer be able to connect to the disk (time machine reports an error, as does trying to connect to the disk through finder), although the light is green. The wireless functionality works perfectly though. Rebooting my laptop doesn't help, but power-cycling the time capsule does. This has happened about 3 times now.
Is it worth taking a trip to the Apple store to get it looked at?

OK, restarted the Mac. One of my disks became visible. The other came up as a network icon but didn't become available for use and the disk access dialog came up.
Plugging the 'missing' disk into the Mac assures me the disk is AOK.
For some reason there were two volumes mounted with similar names "X" and "X 1". rmdir dealt with that.
OK. So now I can't see either disk. Finder-->Go-->network-->router and I can connect and see the shares. A quick login and the router connected drive is available.
Connect back up the other drive to the router via the USB hub. Restart the router. Both disks visible in AirPort utility. Finder-->Go-->network-->router and I get the spinning beach ball of death and 'server disconnected' - I've lost the previously connected drive.
OK. Finder-->Go-->network-->router and Connect. And now I have both disks in my list and I can connect. This time I remember the password in my keychain.
So, restart your router. Submit to any 'server connection lost' or 'cannot connect to disk' dialogs. then go Finder-->Go-->network-->router and connect. Go as a registered user and enter the disk password/user account access info/base station password. And it might just work.

I have set up Time Capsule to use with Time Machine but when I open Time Machine it 'cannot find' the Time Capsule and I have to 'Select the Disk' each time. In the Next Backup tab it always says "When disk is connected" even though the disk is already connected.

Your pro doesn't matter.. I presume it is happily working.
Your imac setup has got messed up because you changed from a local (my book being USB type I presume) to network drive. Did you do a clean install of Lion?
Did you use the backup from the Pro on the imac? Otherwise I don't see how the Pro shows up in use previous disk. Where is Pondini when you need him??
You cannot download Time Machine as an App and replace the current version. It is built into the OS.. the only way to do it is a clean install. Unfortunately that might be the only way around the issue.
There is a number of issues that Pondini has covered in the setup issues of troubleshooting.
This is the most relevant I think. http://pondini.org/TM/B6.html
But look at the whole section B setup problems.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
If it was me, I would store all the info you need.. not using TM but using a straight copy of files.
Then clean install Lion. I doubt any of these issues would exist if you had not installed Lion over existing setup or used a different backup.
See if you can get Pondini to respond.. !!

  • Cannot connect to TC, even after factory reset

I bought a 1TB TC from apple in 08/2008. I don't recall if it was a refurb or not. It worked fine for 4.5 years with more or less no problems. About a month or two ago the Wi-Fi stopped working. I could connect to the SSID, but occasionally could not get an internet connection without cycling the power of the modem and TC. Finally, the cycling trick stopped working, and while I could connect to the TC I couldn't get internet. I switched to the WiFi capabilties that my Comcast modem had (as I didn't have time to address the issue then). I've finally gotten around to trying to fix it and could not find the TC via WiFi. I attempted a hard reset, but holding the reset button (while under power) did not make the yellow light flash, even after 30 seconds. I then performed a factory reset by holding the reset button while plugging in the TC. The light flashed, indicating the factory reset occurred.
After the factory reset I still cannot:
    -Find the TC via WiFi
I attempted using both my previous SSID and searching for the default "Apple Network XXXXXX" signal. No dice.
    -Find the TC via Ethernet
I attempted to connect my MBP directly to the ethernet port (<--->) on the TC but the red light remains on the Ethernet in Network Settings (Status: Cable Unplugged. Either the cable for Ethernet is not plugged in or the device at the other end is not responding). I verified the cable works by connecting the ethernet cable to the cable modem and instantly getting the green "connected" light and an internet connection.
-Find the TC via Airport Utility
The TC did not appear, even when plugged in directly with the ethernet cable.
I'm not sure if this is a firmware issue or what. The lights turn on the front and in the LEDs above the ethernet jacks in the back during power/start up but is otherwise unresponsive. I cannot attempt a firmware update as I cannot connect to the TC by WiFi/Ethernet, let alone through the Airport utilitiy.
I'm not sure if this is relevant or helpful but the TC is also making a ticking/hissing slightly faster than once a second as if the drive is being accessed.
Can anyone help!?! I have quite a drive to an apple store and I'm sure what they would charge to mail in and fix it would be excessive.
Many karma points await anyone that can help!!! Thanks in advance for your time!

    The power supply is dead.
Solid amber could also be a dead hard disk.
Apple will not fix it and do not supply parts for anyone else to fix them.
It is really no longer economic to repair unless you can DIY. And even then if the hard disk is gone then it really is a waste.. just buy a replacement.
    See https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem s/apple-time-capsule-repair
I have given several methods.. some rough but very cheap to repair the TC.
Otherwise it is just time to buy a new one.. or IMHO a Gen4 is an excellent buy.. second hand or from your local apple refurbish store.

  • Nokia 6708 - cannot connect to PC Suite 6.85

I cannot connect my 6708 to PC Suite 6.85 although I followed all steps as per web site and customer "care". I get the readin " Nokia 6708 connected in a non compatible mode " How can I undo this and make it compatible. Apparently customer care cannot help. Anyone with a solution ? Much appreciated as I paid a damn lot of money for this phone and use it for my business. Thanks a lot

Does any prompt appear in your phone when you connect the usb cable? In some Nokia like my N91-2, I have 3 option(PCSuite,Mass Storage, & Music) & selecting mass storage give that message, which one have to ignore. Windows treat the phone memory as just another external harddisk like flash disk.
Did you download the PCSuite version specifically for your phone model?Message Edited by android on 12-Dec-200711:22 AM

  • Macbook Pro Cannot Connect to SMTP

I am running a 2010 MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8.  I use Mac Mail app to send and receive e-mail.  Since Thursday 27th Dec 2012 I have been unable to send e-mail.  I get the grey spinning wheel until the following error message appears:
The SMTP connection to server “mail.(mydomain).co.uk” failed.
My outgoing mail server is currently showing as offline.  In fact I have 2 e-mail accounts and both are showing as offline.  No problem receiving mail.  Connection doctor connects fine to incoming mail, but not outgoing.
I have tried the following (plus other things) without any success:
Checked all the details, passwords etc
Changed ports from 25 to 465 and 587
Checked my IP address - it is not blacklisted
    Removed and re-added e-mail account
Telnet port 25 - it is not blocked, but appeared to successfully connect (from what I understood from checking www)
    Temporarily disabled firewall
    Re-installed Mac app
    Rebuilt mailbox
    Repaired disk permissions
    Used the repair disk utility
Deselected SSL and changed various options within "Edit SMTP server list"
    Reset the keychain
Tried updating software but it says no update available.
Re-instated an old Accounts.plist (and one other file which I forget, something like com.apple.mail) from time capsule.
I then set up a hotmail account on Mail app but had exactly the same problem, ie cannot connect with SMTP server.
However, I set up my e-mail account on my wife's iPad with the same details and there was no problem at all, e-mail sent just fine as it does from my iPhone.  So the issue has to be with my Macbook, right?  Can anyone help before I go and spent £1250 on a new Macbook?  I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just FYI, I've had the same problem for months now. I have been accessing my hotmail via the web, but decided to try the OS X Mail app.  I could get emails into the account with no problem but couldn't send.  I read all the blog and support entries and have tried everything they recommended, like changing my computer name to one word, without success.  Then last night, it just so happened that my broadband provider had to change out my wireless modem.  As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work.  So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.

  • Macbook Pro cannot connect to the internet even when others can

Hi! Please help me. We have an internet WIFI connection in our office but only my MacBook Pro cannot connect even when I entered the correct password. My Iphone and Ipad work just fine. It says "connection timeout" but all other laptops can connect. I tried network diagnostics already and it always say "connection timeout". I dont know what to do anymore.

Yes, and when I open the Network Utility it shows a working IP address, and a 54Mb/s speed from the wireless router. It even shows the shared computers from my roomates. But when I try to access the internet it does not load anything on Safari or Firefox ( or any other internet application for that matter). It is completely unconnected. YET, As soon as I activate the AirPort card on the top right where I have my signal strength, it shows on the Network Utility information that there are 'packages' being sent and received, and I have NO programs open what so ever, I have closed everything except finder and network utility... Does this mean I am being hacked, or have some sort of Trojan or something in my computer? I ran an antivirus that my school provided, called Virex by McAfee, it came out clean except it says it cannot read one file.
I tried repairing my disk, and that did not work either. I did the Ram reset like you suggested, but that also did not work. I doubt it being a hardware error. I am going to try to connect it to an ethernet cable to see if that will work. Then I will let you know what happens with that, but that would still not be a solution since I need it wireless, cause the router is in another part of the house.
Thank you for your help, and I hope we can get this sorted out.

  • Cannot connect to the app store

    Hi all,
My girlfriend has a macbook air, and wanted to update her computer to Lion. I had no problem doing that on my own macbook pro, but I can't do it on hers. She didn't update her softwares regularly, so at first I found myself having to update a ton softwares so I could finally install the Mac App Store. Once it finished installing though I was never able to actually use it, as when I open the application it just says: "Cannot Connect to the App Store". I looked up online and people had similar problems, and none of the suggested solutions worked:
    - Starting up the computer in "Safe Mode" did not work;
    - Repairing all the permissions in the Disk Utility application did not work;
    - Signing out and in the Mac App Store from the App Store application did not work;
    - The problem is certainly not the internet connection because I was able to update my computer in the same connection, and I can regularly access it on my computer.
Does anyone have a tip to solve this problem?
Thank you very very much in advance!

Thanks cpickrell but no, she is not using any firewall or antivirus program. Any other idea?
