This app works for some systems as below:
Windows 7 - works OK and creates shortcut
Linux (OpenSuse 11.4 and 12.3) - works OK, shortcut usually created (seems a bit flakey)
Mac OS: cannot create shortcut
Mac OS version: 10.8.3
java Version 7 update 17 (build 1.7.0_17-b02)
Java Console -> View Temporary Internet Files -> Install Shortcuts for the Selected Applications -> "Unable to Create Shortcut for PriceBook"
The jars have been signed with a self-signed cert, which of course I accepted on install, and it is possible to re-launch the app from Java Console.
Is there a solution for this ?

I am not saying that validation of the JNLP file will make shortcuts work on Mac. Do the Macs. run Java 1.6.0_18+? If so, shortcuts can be installed using methods that return success/failure, through the IntegrationService *(<- link).*

  • Cannot create keychain in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

I upgraded from Mac OS X 10.4.11 to Mac OS X 10.5 today. Now my passwords cannot be saved to a keychain. My keychain from 10.4 was copied to the ~/Library/Keychains folder, but does not show up in the Keychain Access list. When I try to create a new keychain, I get an error saying,
*"An error occurred while trying to create a new keychain."*
Now, every time I check my mail or do anything that requires a password, I have to enter the password. When Mac OS X tries to create a new keychain to store the password, it fails. Cookies are also not functioning correctly.
Here is some additional information that may be helpful:
    1. I have run Keychain First Aid within Keychain Access. It verifies everything fine. But Repair terminates unexpectedly.
    2. I tried upgrading to Mac OS X 10.5 by both an Upgrade and Install, and a Clean Install followed by a system migration. Same problem either way.
    3. I have repaired permissions on the boot volume both from the boot volume and from the Installer disc.
    4. Disk First Aid says the hard disk appears to be OK.
    5. *Files within my user folder have (unknown) as the Group owner.* I am not sure why this is, but wonder if it is related to the problem I am experiencing.
If anyone has an idea regarding what the problem is or how I can fix it, please let me know!
    Thanks.

When I'm using disk utility and use "verify disk" I get the following message:
    "First Aid failed
Disk utility stopped verifying "UltraMax" because the following error was encountered.
    Filesystem verify or repair failed."

  • Cannot create shortcut with FF icon from bookmarks - comes up IE icon why

Trying to create a shortcut for yahoo mail login on my desktop but every time I try it puts an icon with an Internet Explorer icon not a Firefox icon. When I click on the icon it opens up to the yahoo login but in Internet explorer not Firefox. Tried going to bookmarks in Firefox and dragging to my desktop but it still comes up with IE icon.

It will use the icon of the default browser, make sure that you set Firefox as the default - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Default_browser

    javaws -shortcut -system -import http://localhost:7001/uif/uifTestClient.jnlp
WebStart imported the App into system cache alright but it failed to create the shortcut. Also the Java Cache Viewer shows the shortcut icon disabled.
    Any Idea?

  • Cannot create "On My Mac" Calendar - Mavericks

I am trying to add an "On My Mac" calendar but the only option I have when selecting File, New Calendar, is to add an iCloud Calendar.
How do I add a calendar for "On My Mac" only?

    Open up your calendar,
And select calendars in the top left-hand corner of the screen, then select Birthdays or US Holidays, so that it doesn't put the calendar into one of your accounts. Then right-click (Or control-click, depending on your settings), in the gray area so that you don't select a calendar, and the choose "New Calendar" from the menu, and it should create a new calendar under the "On My Mac"
    I hope this helps!

  • Cannot create new mailbox folder on my mac.

I am trying to add a new mailbox folder and gives me error cannot create on your mac? What is this all about?

Apparently, Mail has a bug that causes ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes to sometimes be a file instead of a folder, and that prevents Mail from creating any mailboxes there.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, proceed as follows:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/.
    3. Locate Mailboxes. If it’s a file instead of a folder, move it to the Trash.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

Installed Mac OS X v.10.6.7, and now we cannot create a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat Professional.  This has been done on two computers, one an iMac and the other a MacBook Pro.  Assistance greatly appreciated.

Yes, Adobe Acrobat X Pro is the same thing as Acrobat X Pro.
Print to PDF is probably the most reliable way to create a PDF file.
File > Create > PDF from File
is shaky.  It works with some file types but not with others.
Another issue is creating a multi-page PDF from a scanner.  If you neglect to check the box "Prompt for scanning more pages" and, instead, simply try to add a second page, the application crashes.

The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

  • Runtime error: Cannot create cacheAsBitmapMatrix on Sprite. Mac player 11,5,500,104

ReferenceError: Error #1056: Cannot create property cacheAsBitmapMatrix on flash.display.Sprite.
              at Shell/create()[/Users/ujensga/Poptropica/repos/pop2/trunk/src/Shell.as:275]
              at Shell/init()[/Users/ujensga/Poptropica/repos/pop2/trunk/src/Shell.as:253]

Did this used to work before Flash Player 11.5?
According to the ActionScript docs, cacheAsBitmapMatrix is an AIR-only method.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/display/DisplayOb ject.html#cacheAsBitmapMatrix
       cacheAsBitmapMatrix
    property
    cacheAsBitmapMatrix:Matrix
    Language Version:
    ActionScript 3.0
    Runtime Versions:
    AIR 2.0
If non-null, this Matrix object defines how a display object is rendered when cacheAsBitmap is set to true. The application uses this matrix as a transformation matrix that is applied when rendering the bitmap version of the display object.
AIR profile support: This feature is supported on mobile devices, but it is not supported on desktop operating systems. It also has limited support on AIR for TV devices. Specifically, on AIR for TV devices, supported transformations include scaling and translation, but not rotation and skewing. See AIR Profile Support for more information regarding API support across multiple profiles.
With cacheAsBitmapMatrix set, the application retains a cached bitmap image across various 2D transformations, including translation, rotation, and scaling. If the application uses hardware acceleration, the object will be stored in video memory as a texture. This allows the GPU to apply the supported transformations to the object. The GPU can perform these transformations faster than the CPU.
To use the hardware acceleration, set Rendering to GPU in the General tab of the iPhone Settings dialog box in Flash Professional CS5. Or set the renderModeproperty to gpu in the application descriptor file. Note that AIR for TV devices automatically use hardware acceleration if it is available.
For example, the following code sends an untransformed bitmap representation of the display object to the GPU:

Help, I installed parallel and windows, and opened videos (on an external hard disk) with windows, and now cannot open them with Mac, and use i movies.  How do I reverse this?

Paragraphs help the reader, just saying.
What are you actually trying to do? Why do you need "DVD size" folders if you're creatng an Archive on an external hard drive?
Also, I understand burning folders instead of individual photos or albums gives you more space on a DVD.
It makes no difference at all.
How can I keep the captions on my photos (not events) when I print or transfer to a new folder?
You can export while writing the metadata to the file in most cases.
Tne only way I know is to copy photos from the Windows to folders on my HD, then copy and paste photos or albums or events to HD, then create a new folder and fill it to the appropriate DVD size.
HD? Another HD? You use HD there in a way that makes no sense. What's the point of 'DVD size'?
I also thought I should download future photos to my Canon programming that comes with EOS cameras and edit and then decide which photos to save to iPhoto library and which to save only to my archival HD?
Does this have any relation to the previous questions? You know you can delete from iPhoto, right?
You're somewhat confused and you need to
    1. Decide what exactly you want to do
    2. Then go about it.
If I understand you correctly - and there's no guarantee that I do -  the easiest thing is to bring all your Photos into iPhoto and do everything from there.
You can have an archive on an external disk, you can sort and select and edit with or via iPhoto

  • Creating Partition in Mac Mini Hard Drive

i Have buy a mac mini a week ago, but before three days ago, some file got corrupted, and it does not start, only the password screen appears, when i entered the password, the screen appears again. and it continues. Now i want to partition the mac mini hard drive. i have only one drive, and i want to create another partition in the hard drive. when i create another partition  through the disk utility , i gives error, and cannot create the partition. i acutally want that first i make partition in the hard drive, and after using the "restore from time machine option" to install the mac osx lion in the system. Please help me in make the partition in the hard drive.

Apple themselves don't specify hard drive RPM because they buy a number of different drives, some apparently 4200 some apparently 5400.
It's no surprise that your retailer wants you to buy a G5 though, and is trying to upsell one based on the minis weaknesses - after all, they get more money from a G5 sale than from a mini. They may also be considering your planned use of Photoshop as a stumbling block to effective use of a mini, but the question really is what you intend to use Photoshop to do. If you're a hobbyist, the system is fine and will work more than adequately - particularly if you max out the RAM. If you're a professional user with pro-level expectations, then a mini likely wouldn't be sufficient, not so much due to the drive speed (powerbook users have run Photoshop verisons for years quite happily on what are predominently 4200rpm drives) but because for pro work, Photoshop needs a lot of hard drive space and a great deal of RAM.
On the basis of what you've posted, I'd say your retailer is more interested in their profit than your need. Chances are, if you run PS on the G4 listed in your profile, you're already running on a drive of similar general performance.

  • Download error message - "Cannot Create File"

Recently I developed a problem and am unable to download anything (files, software, etc) from any website. I begin a download, the download manager comes up and it shows an error message "Cannot Create File." I am using the default manager that is incorporated in OS X 10.3.9.
I never had a problem until a week or so ago when I downloaded a software demo. I decided to get the full software package and trashed the demo files per the company's instructions. I got the error message when I tried to download the full program and now get the message no matter what I attempt to download. Might I have trashed a file I wasn't supposed to trash?
I tried installing 10.3.9 again on my main drive but still have the problem. If I use an external hard drive with spare copy of 10.3.9 and make that my start up drive, I can download files successfully.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
